I actually don't read a whole lot of fanfic but a friend recommended me Wings of Icarus by @/Smashbro37 and I really enjoyed it.

The fic is about Claus's life as a chimera/as the commander through Dr. Andonuts' perspective and his feelings during it and after. It's definitely a somber read and it made me cry like three times 😭 but I really liked the themes towards the end of (spoilers):

Andonuts coming to realize that just because he failed Claus doesn't mean he can't leave a positive impact on others going forward. And because he decided not to follow in Claus's footsteps, he was able, against all odds, to hear from Jeff again.

It immediately gave me the inspiration for an art piece, but I decided I wanted to do a more direct fanart too--because I really enjoyed reading about Andonuts and Claus's dynamics. Definitely one of those things I really enjoy seeing in fan material, and it was actually what prompted the recommendation of the fic to me in the first place

If you can stomach the darker themes it tackles, I definitely recommend it! It's really good. Hurt me lol, but very good!

i like to think because he became a prince so young poo disavowed all things "childish" and suppressed his emotions so that they wouldn't get the better of him when it came to important decision making, so when he joined ness and co he didn't really know how to behave his age and it led to everyone in the party just kinda feeling bad for him
