5 W’s and 1 H for Thursday Night Football
By Greg (GA_Sports3)
Live from the Terranea Resort in beautiful California, here's a quick (emphasis on quick) preview for tonight's game.
Who - Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) @ Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)
What (will the fans reaction to Andy Reid be) - Andy Reid returns to Philly after being fired following 14 years at the helm for the Eagles. Philadelphia fans are known for their tough love, so it will be very interesting to see how they react tonight. My guess is there will be a mixture of boos and cheers. The cheers are definitely warranted as Reid took them from being a perennial loser to an annual playoff contender. There is no doubt that the man turned around the Eagles fortunes, but he never brought them a Super Bowl. In addition, his last two years were pretty lean, and the team undoubtedly underachieved (how does the Dream Team not win the Super Bowl?!?).
Where - The Linc baby. Regardless of the reaction to Reid, the fans will be fired up and boozed up for a primetime game. Speaking of unknown fan reactions, Donovan McNabb will be getting his jersey retired at halftime. McNabb was Reid's boy so it's very fitting, but just like Reid he never took the team all the way. His puking in the Super Bowl versus the Pats is one of the trademark moments of playoff failure during the Reid-McNabb era.
When - 8:25 EST on NFL Network (5:25 Pacific if you're watching on the left coast with me!)
Why (the Chiefs are going to impress people) - Sure they are 2-0 so people shouldn't be too surprised when they play well, but they are the type of team that isn't usually featured on a national game, so people will learn some of their players. After years of drafting the offensive and defensive line in early rounds, they are finally strong on both sides of the ball and should be effective running ball as well as putting pressure on Vick. I really like their defense, and I think it will impress people (although I hope not too impressive).
How (the Eagles will recover from last week's let down) - I truly think they had a look ahead week last week. To clarify, I think a lot of players that played under Reid were thinking ahead to this game and not focusing enough on the Chargers. At Discover this week, I learned a lot about the importance of focus, and how a lack of focus can let you down. That will not be an issue this week as this is the game they were focusing on. Look for another exciting performance from the Eagles tonight.
