Often they trolled themselves as bait for the NVA troops to try to shoot down. When a friendly unit made contact, having a FAC overhead made their day, because the FACs controlled the bomb-, rocket-, and napalm-laden fast movers, fighter jets, and attack aircraft whose ordnance often made the difference between life and death. They were regarded by many of their air force and naval aviator brethren as insane, suicidal, or both. In addition to the perils of enemy fire which ranged from lucky AK-47 shots to .51 caliber machine guns and SA-7 shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles, they had to watch out to keep from being blown up in a B-52 Arc-Light strike or knocked down by friendly artillery.

"I mean, I totally get it. Me and Mako went from, like, zero family members to A WHOLE BUTT-LOAD of them basically overnight when we finally stumbled — hm, no. Crashed? Yeah, that fits better — crashed into them in Ba Sing Se. I'm just glad we were able to get everyone out of there when we could. They all seem happier in Republic City, that's for sure.
"And I know you're super busy nowadays — we all are." It was always a strange feeling to take a moment of introspection, thinking back on how much has happened in just four years. "What I'm saying is: I get it; you don't have to keep up with every little detail, hah. Just don't tell Grandma Yin you forgot." He added the last part mostly as a joke; he was pretty sure most people knew how dramatic his grandmother was and she wasn't afraid to say what was on her mind.
"Hit on them? Pfft." Bolin couldn't help but scoff a little. "Trust me, little bro, those days are waaaaaaay behind me. Looooooong gone. That Eagle-toad has flown the coop soooo many moons ago." He crossed his arms then swept them to the side to emphasize his point. "I'm grown now. I've learned from my mistakes." Bolin donned a faraway gaze and raspier voice as if to tap into his mover star-mode. "And I ain't goin' back to that life." He quickly dropped the act with a hearty laugh. "But really though, that whole thing with Eska wasn't as deep as I thought it was back then." With a pause, he side-glanced at Kai. "Did Opal tell you about Eska or something?"
@bolinity
It was Kai’s turn to be embarrassed as he rubbed the back of his head. “Uh, I did actually. With all the training and flying missions, it’s hard…I mean, I’m trying to remember all their names so I don’t make a fool of myself when I meet them. And so, I can talk with someone and not awkwardly hide behind you or Mako or stand in a corner like an uninvited guest.” Kai said softly and lightly punched Bolin’s shoulder when Kai saw his face and voice droop for a moment.
“Hey now, no mood drops big Bo. You thought you were doing the right thing, you just wanted to help people, and everyone knows you’re a good person. I sure do. Better than me probably…unless you’re asking Jinora.” Kai said as he gave Bolin a quick hug as he got up and then broke away as they headed out.
“Oh, they don’t tell us what they’re here for. I only knew because we had to provide some over flights for a bit for security reasons. Eyes in the sky, you know?” Kai said as he jumped a crack in the street, having some fun as he twirled around in midair to look at his adopted big brother. “Anyway, fair warning, make sure you’re hitting on the right one if it comes up…not that there is anything wrong if you’re…uh…into guys.”

ATSF 5704 - EMD SD45-2 at Kansas City, MO por Zach Pumphery Por Flickr: Basking in the sun on a beautifully warm morning is Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway SD45-2 #5704, fresh out of the paint booth at Mid-America Car. This locomotive was built 5-1973 at EMD LaGrange, IL with a builder and frame number of 72642-18, delivered in the blue and yellow warbonnet scheme. 5700-5704 were repainted at San Bernardino in January 1976 into this paint scheme commemorating the American Bicentennial that year. The Santa Fe had the largest Bicentennial locomotive fleet of all major U.S. railroads. These units saw service on priority freights and supported the American Freedom Train when it was operating on the ATSF. After the nationwide festivities, it reverted back to standard Santa Fe paint on 6-15-1978, and was overhauled as an SD45-2u in September 1986 at the San Bernardino shops becoming ATSF 5834. It was assigned to MK maintenance in 4-1994. The unit passed to BNSF Railway with the merger in 1995, and was renumbered BNSF 6484 on 1-31-2000. In storage pending retirement the unit was renumbered GN 6484 in 2013, and stored in various locations around the system including Temple, TX and Topeka, KS. The unit was moved for scrap, getting as far as Memphis, TN and was literally in the deadline a day from being cut up when it was given a reprieve and donated to the Southern California Railway Museum in Perris, CA. Soon the locomotive will be moved to California by BNSF, and mechanically restored to operation at the SCRM, replacing electrical components and returning the diesel prime mover to service. Many of the skilled volunteers at the museum are former Santa Fe employees from the San Bernardino shops that worked on the 90 SD45-2's that Santa Fe once rostered. Thanks to everyone at BNSF Railway, Mid-America Car in Kansas City, Sherwin-Williams Paint, Eagle Graphics in Wichita, KS and Class-One Model Works for donating the locomotive, time, labor, paint, decals, and design work to the project. Growing up the bicentennial was a recent enough memory for a lot of people that its commemoration was commonly referenced. My grandparents had all kinds of stuff around with the star logo. The insignias developed for the occasion were still evident in some unlikely places. My elementary school was one of those. I used to look for bicentennial quarters in my change and collected them. It was a fascinating period in American patriotism, and it's amazing how many railroads went out of their way to honor it in such eye-catching representations on locomotives and railcars. The ATSF Bicentennial scheme has always been in my top 5 list, probably second to the Mo-Pac's, but I'm biased since that was my hometown road. I've gotten to see the N&W 1776 in Roanoke, the SD45 restored to its own bicentennial paint by the Virginia Museum of Transportation. I never imagined I'd ever lay eyes on one of these, even a year ago when I shoved it into the 3000 Yard at Argentine on a pilot-herder job in 2021. I already knew at the time what was in store, and it was hard to keep a secret. As I looked up at the informational placard taped to the front window while tying the handbrake, I couldn't help laugh to myself thinking about what the future held for weather beaten "GN 6484". This was especially after seeing it earlier that day at the DSF, thinking how funny it would be if we had to go take it somewhere. Turns out, that was our next move. The 5704 is simply an outstanding looking locomotive. Thank you to all of those that worked hard to get it done, and thank you for letting me drop by that morning to have a look. Locomotive: ATSF 5704 3-1-22 Kansas City, MO

Swift’s total weeks at No. 1 now stands at 47, one more than Houston’s tally of 46.
Taylor Swift’s Folklore album returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, collecting a seventh nonconsecutive week atop the tally. In doing so, Swift surpasses Whitney Houston’s longstanding record, among women, for the most cumulative weeks at No. 1, across all of her chart-topping albums. Swift’s total weeks at No. 1 now stands at 47, one more than Houston’s tally of 46. Folklore earned 87,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Sept. 24 (up 97 percent), according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Oct. 3-dated chart (where Folklore returns to No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's website on Sept. 29. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
Of Folklore’s 87,000 units earned in the tracking week ending Sept. 24, album sales comprise 56,000 (up 339 percent), SEA units comprise 30,000 (down 4 percent) equaling 39.8 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs) and TEA units total 1,000 (up 38 percent).
Folklore’s fortunes perked up in the newest tracking week, as Swift sold more signed CD copies of the album through her official webstore and via independent record stores (as she’s done in previous weeks) and also issued more merchandise/album bundles in her webstore. She additionally profits from the release of a new live version of the album’s single "Betty," as performed on the Academy of Country Music Awards (held on Sept. 16). The live rendition was released to YouTube shortly after the awards, while it reached digital retail and other streaming services on Sept. 18. For tracking purposes, the new version of "Betty" is combined with its original version.
Swift also promoted Folklore on streaming services with another release (on Sept. 21) of a thematic "chapter" of songs from the album (as she’s done in previous weeks). Such collections of songs get prominent placement on streaming services, appearing as the latest release from Swift.
As noted above, Folklore returns to No. 1 for a seventh nonconsecutive week on top. In doing so, Swift’s total weeks at No. 1 -- across all seven of her chart-topping albums -- now stands at 47, a new record among female artists. She surpasses Whitney Houston’s sum of 46 weeks at No. 1. (Houston held the record for the most weeks at No. 1 among women since 1987.)
Houston notched four No. 1 albums: her self-titled debut (14 weeks at No. 1 in 1986), her sophomore release Whitney (11 in 1987), The Bodyguard soundtrack (20 in 1992-93) and I Look to You (one week in 2009).
Following Swift and Houston, Adele has the third-most weeks at No. 1 among women, with 34 weeks from her two No. 1s: 21 (24 in 2011-12) and 25 (10 in 2015-16).
The all-time leaders with the most weeks at No. 1 are The Beatles, with 132 weeks at No. 1 across their record 19 chart-topping albums. The male act (and solo artist) with the most weeks atop the list is Elvis Presley, with 67.
Here’s a roundup of every act with at least 30 weeks at No. 1, since the Billboard 200 chart began publishing on a regular weekly basis on March 24, 1956: The Beatles (132 weeks), Elvis Presley (67), Garth Brooks (52), Michael Jackson (51), Taylor Swift (47), Whitney Houston (46), The Kingston Trio (46), Elton John (39), Fleetwood Mac (38), The Rolling Stones (38), Harry Belafonte (37), The Monkees (37), Prince (35), Adele (34), Eminem (34), Eagles (30) and Mariah Carey (30).
Folklore additionally continues to have the most weeks at No. 1 for any album since Drake’s Views ruled for 13 nonconsecutive weeks in 2016. Folklore also continues to have the most weeks at No. 1 among all non-R&B/hip-hop titles, and albums by women, since Adele’s 25 landed 10 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2015-16.
At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200, Pop Smoke’s former leader, Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, is a non-mover with 75,000 equivalent album units earned (up 2 percent).YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Top falls from No. 1 to No. 3 in its second week on the list, earning 63,000 equivalent album units (down 50 percent).
Alicia Keys collects her eighth top 10 album, as her latest studio effort, Alicia, bows at No. 4 with 62,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, 51,000 are from album sales, 10,000 from SEA units (equaling 13.6 million in on-demand streams of the set’s tracks) and 1,000 from TEA units. Alicia’s album sales were bolstered by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with her upcoming U.S. tour, which was slated to begin on July 28, but has since been postponed to 2021.
Alicia was initially set for release on March 20, but was delayed due to concerns relating to COVID-19. Alicia is Keys’ first studio set since 2016’s Here debuted and peaked at No. 2. All seven of Keys’ studio albums have reached the top four on the Billboard 200. She additionally logged a top 10 with the No. 1 live set Unplugged in 2005.

While Bolin already had some experience from his first set of Nuktuk films as the series's mover star, projecting his voice well enough to bark for a crowd came from a lifetime of listening to Shiro Shinobi over the radio, news broadcasts, and the pro-bending arena's speaker system — on top of his natural charm and charisma to really draw in a curious crowd of on-lookers. (Totally ignoring the fact that some people aren't cultured enough to enjoy fabulous solo fire ferret tricks; barking couldn't save those folks.)
He was glad that Tenzin and Korra went along with his and Commander Bumi's idea of razzling and dazzling up the crowds to draw all the impromptu-airbenders out of hiding for the past couple of stops along their recruitment trip. Once another one of their extravagant demonstrations winded down (and Mako climbed back onto the airship, grumbles and all), Bolin's heart swelled in happiness to see a small crowd gather around his friends. Since meeting Korra, often he had to take a moment to drink in the fact that he was a part of something bigger than he was — seeing history in the making right in front of his eyes through the adventures they've had, just like all of his heroes! Such a different life from four years ago...
Again, he was used to folks gathering around Tenzin, Korra, Jinora, and Bumi after their performance, so Bolin was caught a little off-guard when someone approached him instead since he didn't do any of the fun stunts. He half-expected to be recognized as Nuktuk — it had happened a few times during their journey, but most of the time people were more filled with wonder at the rare sight of airbenders).
"Thanks!" he said as she complimented his barking while he reached up to press his mustache back into place. "And yeeeaaahhh, I know. I've tried other adhesives, but they end up sticking too well and... well, I rather have something that comes off easily than have a red upper lip for... the rest of the day," Bolin admitted, to which he shuddered a bit as his mind flashed back to some painful memories as a result of trial-and-error. "And if it does blow away, it's fine. I have, like, six more as backup." Clearly it was wasn't his first airbending-rodeo.
He closed his eyes to focus on her words as he nodded along while the girl started to describe classic spontaneous-airbending. However, once he opened them back up, he jumped a little as he clocked the eagle-lion approaching them; he exclaimed as Pabu himself scrambled and took shelter inside of Bolin's shirt. He scooped his arm under the lump that was Pabu to support him (and prevent him from stretching the fabric too much) before he continued, "Sounds like you're a bonafide airbender, all right! Master Tenzin — the tall and incredibly ripped bald one with the arrow tattoos — is basically a walking-talking-airbending encyclopedia on airbenders, the Air Nomads, and all that jazz. Not to mention he's the son of Avatar Aang on top of that." As if the last part wasn't obvious.
"I'm pretty sure he's been teaching his kids all about their culture basically since they could start walking," he said as his arm swept over to Jinora's direction. "His oldest is only eleven years old, but she's super talented! And," he paused to gesture in the direction of Bumi, "his older brother just got airbending just like you!" Bolin's gaze went back to the girl as he beamed. "Basically, these folks are your best bet at making sure you're not sneezing out a wall of every building you're in — or flying pies into people's faces unexpectedly," he joked. "The plan is to head to the Northern Air Temple to start everyone's lessons and training there, like, get real deep and immersed in the whole Air Nomad culture. Are you up for that?"
starter for: @bolinity
@bolinity
It wasn’t exactly the best way to make an exit. Especially after purchasing her weeks worth of rations. But this odd habit of sneezing ten feet in any odd direction didn’t exactly happen overnight. For that matter she couldn’t quite remember when their air related stuff kicked in for her. All she knew was one moment she was her normal self, the next she was flying sneezing and accidentally shoving people across rooms without meaning too. It was even starting to startle her eaglelion Meili who was pretty unstartleable.
After offering what little she had left of her odd job money as an apology and gathering what she could of her supplies and packing them away, a voice echoed though the streets as though giving her an answer to her own internal questions.
“Come one come all and witness the amazing Airbenders!”
“Hold on,” she quietly said to herself as people began to flock towards the spectacle in question “did he just say Airbenders? As in it’s not a legend anymore? Like this could answer what’s going on?” She turned her head to her companion to which it only gave a small tilt of her head in confusion. It was nice to travel alone at times, however it did leave you limited in people to talk to.
“Right, we should just see what it is before jumping ahead.” She said before taking the lead. Though by the time they reached the attraction, the crowd grew so big, she couldn’t get a decent view. Unless she hoped onto her companion of course.
It was a sight to see indeed. No strings that she could make out. They were indeed true blue Airbenders. She could feel her heart flutter at the sight. But nearly feel from her seat at the sight of the skybision the flew above them soon after. The stories shared by the elders were true… if only her family were here to see this.
As soon as the show was over. Instead of asking for handouts, they asked for anyone who had the ability to bend air to come forward so that they could be trained. This was it! Her golden opportunity to fully learn her people’s heritage and better control her sneezes! However it had been a good while since she last had a full blown conversation with anyone much less spill what was once a shut secret past.
Fortunately, there were quite a few who came forward to the most intimating (to her) two. Tenzin and Avatar Korra. Perhaps reaching out to anyone else in the group would be a better way to integrate.
Out of the rest of their ragtag team, the one with the clearly fake mustache currently giving his fire ferret a friendly scratch behind the ears seemed the least intimidating, so she approached.
“Nice announcing out there.” She started, hoping to ease into the while Airbending thing. “Though you may want to use something a little more stickier to keep it on, I noticed it starting to slip towards the end. Though it could’ve been the excess breeze going that.” Despite the friendly tone and smile as soon as she said that she immediately felt herself mentally fall over flat on her face. She felt like this may have not have been the best way to start a conversation.
After a lighthearted chuckle in hopes to kill any of the potential tension, she spoke up again. “Anyways. Sometime ago, I’ve discovered that I’ve started to bend air uncontrollably, and while I knew my family had ties to some Air Nomads, I didn’t realize I’d have their ability in me. Now I’ve found myself doing a lot of damage from things as simple as a sneeze. Its even made my friend Meili uneasy.” Just as she mentioned the name, the large hybrid creature approached from behind as if waiting to see if it was alright to come out or not.
“If you guys are really offering a way for people like us to better hone our abilities, I’d be honored to learn.”

• Irena Sendler
Irena Stanisława Sendler, also referred to as Irena Sendlerowa; was a Polish humanitarian, social worker, and nurse who served in the Polish Underground Resistance during World War II in German-occupied Warsaw.
Sendler was born on February 15th, 1910 in Warsaw, to Stanisław Henryk Krzyżanowski, a physician, and his wife, Janina. Her father, a humanitarian who treated the very poor, including Jews, free of charge, died in February 1917 from typhus contracted from his patients. After his death, the Jewish community offered financial help for the widow and her daughter, though Janina Krzyżanowska declined their assistance. From 1927, Sendler studied law for two years and then Polish literature at the University of Warsaw, interrupting her studies for several years from 1932 to 1937.
By the outbreak of World War II she submitted her magister degree thesis, but had not taken the final exams. Sendler joined the Union of Polish Democratic Youth in 1928; during the war she became a member of the Polish Socialist Party (PPS). She was repeatedly refused employment in the Warsaw school system because of negative recommendations issued by the university, which ascribed radically leftist views to her. Sendler was employed in a legal counseling and social help clinic, the Section for Mother and Child Assistance at the Citizen Committee for Helping the Unemployed. She published two pieces in 1934, both concerned with the situation of children born out of wedlock and their mothers. She worked mostly in the field, crisscrossing Warsaw's impoverished neighborhoods, and her clients were helpless, socially disadvantaged women.
Sendler married Mieczysław Sendler in 1931. He was mobilized for war, captured as a soldier in September 1939 and remained in a German prisoner of war camp until 1945. Soon after the German invasion, on November 1st, 1939, the German occupation authorities ordered Jews removed from the staff of the municipal Social Welfare Department where Sendler worked and barred the department from providing any assistance to Warsaw's Jewish citizens. Sendler with her colleagues and activists from the department's PPS cell became involved in helping the wounded and sick Polish soldiers. Around four hundred thousand Jews were crowded into a small portion of the city designated as the Warsaw Ghetto and the Nazis sealed the area in November 1940. As employees of the Social Welfare Department, Sendler gained access to special permits for entering the ghetto to check for signs of typhus, a disease the Germans feared would spread beyond the ghetto. Under the pretext of conducting sanitary inspections, they brought medications and cleanliness items and sneaked clothing, food, and other necessities into the ghetto.
Sendler and other social workers would eventually help the Jews who escaped or arrange for smuggling out babies and small children from the ghetto using various means available. Transferring Jews out of the ghetto and facilitating their survival elsewhere became an urgent priority in the summer of 1942. This work was done at huge risk, as since October 1941, giving any kind of assistance to Jews in German-occupied Poland was punishable by death, not just for the person who was providing the help but also for their entire family. Sendler joined the Polish Socialists, a left-wing branch of the Polish Socialist Party (PPS). The Polish Socialists evolved into the Polish Socialist Workers' Party (RPPS), which cooperated with the communist Polish Workers' Party (PPR). Sendler was known there by her conspiratorial pseudonym Klara and among her duties were searching for places to stay, issuing fake documents and being a liaison, guiding activists to clandestine meetings. In the RPPS there were Poles she knew, involved in saving Jews, as well as Jews that she had helped. While in the ghetto, she wore a Star of David as a sign of solidarity with the Jewish people.
The Jewish ghetto was a functioning community and to many Jews seemed the safest available place for themselves and their children. In addition, survival on the outside was plausible only for people with access to financial resources. This calculation lost its validity in July 1942, when the Germans proceeded with the liquidation of the ghetto in Warsaw, to be followed by the extermination of its residents. Sendler and her associates could take a small number of children, and a certain number could be accepted and supported by Christian institutions, but a larger-scale action was prevented by the lack of funds. Working for Żegota from January 1943, Sendler functioned as a coordinator of the Welfare Department network. During the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a network of emergency shelters was created by Sendler's group: private residencies where Jews could be temporarily housed.
According to American historian Debórah Dwork, Sendler was the inspiration and the prime mover for the whole network that saved Jewish children. She and her co-workers buried lists of the hidden children in jars in order to keep track of their original and new identities. The aim was to return the children to their original families, if still alive after the war. On October 18th, 1943, Sendler was arrested by the Gestapo. As they ransacked her house, Sendler tossed the lists of children to her friend Janina Grabowska, who hid the list in her loose clothing. The Gestapo took Sendler to their headquarters and beat her brutally. Despite this, she refused to betray any of her comrades or the children they rescued. She was placed in the Pawiak prison, where she was subjected to further interrogations and beatings, on November 13th she was to be taken to another location, to be executed by firing squad. Her life was saved, however, because the German guards escorting her were bribed, and she was released on the way to the execution. During the Warsaw Uprising, Sendler worked as a nurse in a field hospital, where a number of Jews were hidden among other patients. She was wounded by a German deserter she encountered while searching for food. She continued to work as a nurse until the Germans left Warsaw, retreating before the advancing Soviet troops.
Sendler resumed other social work activities and quickly advanced within the new structures, in December 1945 becoming head of the Department of Social Welfare in Warsaw's municipal government. Almost all of the children's parents had been killed at the Treblinka extermination camp or had gone missing. Sendler felt that the Jewish children should be reunited with "their nation", but argued vehemently about specific aims and methods; most children were taken out of Poland. In post-war communist Poland, Sendler continued her social activism but also pursued a government career. In 1965, she was recognised by the State of Israel as Righteous Among the Nations. Among the many decorations Sendler received were the Gold Cross of Merit granted her in 1946 for the saving of Jews and the Order of the White Eagle, Poland's highest honour, awarded late in Sendler's life for her wartime humanitarian efforts.
Around 1956, Sendler asked Teresa Körner, whom she helped during the war and who was now in Israel, to assist her with immigration to Israel with children, who were Jewish and not safe in Poland. In the spring of 1967, suffering from a variety of health problems, including a heart condition and anxiety disorder, Sendler applied for disability pension. In 1980, she lived in Warsaw for the remainder of her life. She died on May 12th, 2008, aged 98, and is buried in Warsaw's Powązki Cemetery.

2021 Mock Draft 1.0
Super Bowl 55 is just a few days away, which means draft season is looming in the rearview mirror. In a class that is expected to produce an abundance of offensive talent, several teams could benefit from this year’s crop. With a reported possibility of 18 teams looking for a change at the quarterback position, there is quite a bit of ambiguity as we approach the draft, and this year could shape up to be one of the wildest drafts we’ve seen in recent memory. Without further ado, here are my early first round predictions for the 2021 NFL draft....
1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
From the moment he set foot on campus his freshman season, Lawrence has always has shown the capabilities of being a future NFL star. He took no time bursting onto the scene. After a dazzling freshman season, in which he lead the Tigers to a title in blowout fashion over an absolutely loaded Alabama team, he followed it up with two more trips to the playoffs, including another trip to the title game.
The former No.1 overall recruit in the country offers everything one could wish for in a franchise quarterback. He is a gifted, natural thrower of the football who is wise beyond his years at the position. Even new head coach Urban Meyer feels that he has the potential to be the best QB ever. Jaguars fans, your savior has come. Rejoice.
2. Houston Texans: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
Houston receives: 2nd overall pick (2021), 23rd overall pick (2021), 3rd round pick (2021), 1st round pick (2022), 4th round pick (2022)
New York receives: Deshaun Watson, 6th round pick (2022)
Let’s get weird. Deshaun Watson being traded has reached inevitability status, and the Jets are stockpiled with draft picks over the next few years. It has been rumored that Watson would prefer to play for the Jets under the tutelage of new head coach Robert Saleh. The Jets have the firepower to make this pick happen, and in this scenario they pull off the mega deal and get their guy. So where does that leave Houston?
They luck into a talented, natural thrower of the football, with a very clean feel for the pocket. He has a rocket arm, and is particularly impressive when asked to go off script. The Texans rebuild will undoubtedly be a long one, but with Wilson, they have a fresh face of the franchise moving forward, and will look to continue adding more weapons around him to set him up for success.
3. San Francisco 49ers: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
San Francisco receives: 3rd overall pick (2021), 5th round pick (2022)
Miami receives: 12th overall pick (2021), 43rd overall pick (2021), 1st round pick (2022), 3rd round pick (2022), 7th round pick (2022)
Between the Rams’ recent trade for Matthew Stafford, and Kyle Shanahan remaining noncommittal on Jimmy Garoppolo for the foreseeable future, it wouldn’t shock me to see John Lynch be aggressive and try to nab their QB of the future.
Fields put up gaudy numbers in his first year as a starter, posting an absurd 51-3 TD/INT ratio. He showed a bit of regression in a COVID-shortened year two, but still displayed all of the tools you’d hope to see when searching for a franchise QB.
Finding a way to get Jimmy G’s lucrative contract off the books, and adding a talented player like Fields would be a win-win for an organization whom I feel would GREATLY benefit from a changing of the guard under center.
4. Atlanta Falcons: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
With the arrival of new head coach Arthur Smith, it is time for a rebrand in Atlanta. Matt Ryan is expected to make over $40m a season for the next two years, and while he is certainly not the main issue with this team, the Falcons need to move in a new direction.
Lance is perhaps the most polarizing player in this year’s class. Similar to Fields, he too posted video game like numbers in his first year at the helm. The Minnesota product threw for 28 TD’s, while posting another 14 on the ground. He also didn’t throw an interception all season. He possess all of the physical tools that NFL teams salivate over, and while questions will remain in regards to the inferior competition he’s been exposed to over his career, the opportunity to sit and learn from Matt Ryan could serve both himself and the Falcons some good.
5. Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
If Sewell is on the board, he will be the pick for the Bengals. After breakout rookie quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending ACL tear, the sense of urgency to upgrade the offensive line should be at an all-time high for the Bengals.
Sewell allowed just one sack over 1,376 career snaps and will spend the majority of his rookie season at age 20. He is a smooth mover with easy power, who is capable of playing on either side of the line. He is the exact type of stalwart that is needed for the Bengals to protect their QB of the future.
6. Philadelphia Eagles: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
I don’t know what to make of the Eagles’ current situation. They are in QB purgatory and have gaping holes riddled across their roster. With the recent hiring of Colts’ OC Nick Sirianni, I’d imagine adding offensive firepower would be at the top of his to-do list. Assuming they move forward with Jalen Hurts at QB, it is imperative to surround him with quality skill players. After drafting Jalen Reagor in the first round last year, they double dip this year and take the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.
Smith is not the most conventional receiver, being that there aren’t too many 6′1, 175-lb receivers who have enjoyed prolonged success in the league, but Smith doesn’t care about your player profiles. Smith can make plays all over the field and beat you in a myriad of ways. He is a nuanced route runner with a seemingly natural feel for his position, and someone I can assume Sirianni will fall in love with as the draft process begins to heat up.
7. Detroit Lions: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
If Lance were to have fallen to this spot, I’d have probably made him the selection. However, I’ll opt to give them a difference maker like Waddle.
With Kenny Golladay’s impending departure and both Danny Amendola and Marvin Jones Jr. testing the open market, that WR room could get UGLY in a hurry. Waddle is essentially a supercharged version of his former teammate Henry Ruggs. He has legit 4.2 speed, and does a great job of tracking the deep ball. The Lions are desperate for speed on the perimeter, and Waddle would be an instant upgrade to what they have now. He’s a true, top-10 talent assuming he manages to stay healthy.
8. Carolina Panthers: Ja’marr Chase, WR, LSU
Now just hear me out on this. Curtis Samuel is approaching free agency and will likely be headed elsewhere. Aside from DJ Moore and Robby Anderson, the cupboard is bare. Chase put up record-setting numbers in his only year under current Panthers OC Joe Brady when they were at LSU, so a reunion would only be right.
Chase is perhaps the best player in the entire class regardless of position. He is a physical route-runner who attacks the catch point with ease, and his RAC ability might be his best trait. He is very reminiscent of Moore, and pairing those two along with Anderson’s deep speed could perhaps create the most dangerous receiving trio in the NFL.
9. Denver Broncos: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
After an heavy offensive draft last year, the Broncos buck the trend and refocus on rebuilding their defense. Farley’s size and athleticism are a perfect fit in Vic Fangio’s versatile defensive scheme. I believe Farley has the potential to be a star in this league very quickly.
10. Dallas Cowboys: Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
After wrestling back and forth with myself on this pick, the Cowboys settle on Slater. The once elite Cowboys offensive line has suddenly deteriorated into mediocrity. With both Tyron Smith and La’el Collins returning from injuries, Slater can serve as an insurance policy at either position, or kick him inside if need be.
His versatility and strong lower half are both commendable traits that should allow him to see a long career in the NFL.
11. New York Giants: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
Truthfully, this might be the most unpredictable pick in the first round. Dave Gettleman is tricky, but recently he has invested into the secondary quite a bit. After signing James Bradberry to a pricy extension last off-season, they also invested a pick into Xavier McKinney, as well as the addition of guys like Logan Ryan and Jabrill Peppers.
With Surtain, he brings a combo of length and savvy to the position, and would serve as the Giants’ other outside corner opposite of Bradberry.
12. Miami Dolphins: Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
San Francisco receives: 3rd overall pick (2021), 5th round pick (2022)
Miami receives: 12th overall pick (2021), 43rd overall pick (2021), 1st round pick (2022), 3rd round pick (2022), 7th round pick (2022)
Yes, I’m highly aware that Mike Gesicki exists. But hear me out on this one, Pitts is more than just your standard “tight end” prospect. If it weren’t for a TE listed next to his position, I’d say that he’s the second best receiver in the draft.
He is nearly impossible to match up against. He’s too fast for linebackers and too physical for corners. He’s shown the capability to play in the slot, flexed out wide, or with his hand in the dirt. Pairing him and Gesicki together will give Tua Tagovailoa (assuming he remains their guy moving forward), a plethora of weapons at his disposal.
13. Los Angeles Chargers: Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
Keeping Justin Herbert clean and protected should be the top priority heading into the offseason for Tom Telesco. After a breakout rookie season, it seems the Chargers struck a goldmine in Herbert. Being that the Chargers haven’t had a decent offensive line in years, a trip out west would make sense for Darrisaw.
The Virginia Tech product is a very fluid mover, whose length and quickness allow him to reach the second level with ease as a run blocker. He will be an instant upgrade to their run game, and has the maturity to protect Herbert’s blindside from day one in LA.
14. Minnesota Vikings: Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami
After the loss of Everson Griffen to free agency, and Danielle Hunter missing most of the 2020 season due to a back injury, the Vikings should be looking to rebuild their pass rush. Mike Zimmer seems to have a knack for high-ceiling pass rushers with athletic upside. Rousseau fits the bill.
The Florida native saw his star shine after a dazzling sophomore season, racking up an impressive 15.5 sacks. Rousseau has easy power off the edge. While he is still a bit raw from a technician standpoint, his natural power and length will be a nightmare for tackles to deal with from day one. If he can mature his game, he has the potential to be one of the most productive edge rushers in the league in due time.
15. New England Patriots: Micah Parsons, EDGE, Penn State
After some recent concerns over Parsons’ character, he sees his stock slide and he falls into the lap of Bill Belichick. After being used in several different spots at Penn State,
Parsons projects best as an EDGE, but has the necessary tools to develop his skills over time. Belichick has a fetish for hybrid linebackers that can rush the passer, and pairing the two together would do wonders for his development over time.
16. Arizona Cardinals: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
After adding Matthew Stafford to the division, and the Niners looking to upgrade at the quarterback position, it is time for the Cardinals to get better in the secondary. Quickly.
Horn is an excellent press corner, with an alpha-dog type mentality that should fit in well in the Cardinals’ back end. He does have a tendency to be too grabby and aggressive at times, and his lack of size will hurt him against bigger receivers. He is not a perfect corner prospect, but the Cardinals don’t have much of a choice here.
17. Las Vegas Raiders: Jaelan Phillips, EDGE, Miami
Truthfully, I have no idea what to predict here. The front office is an absolute mess, and have proven themselves to be incompetent when it comes to drafting. After missing badly on Clelin Ferrell a few years ago, they have a chance to redeem themselves with the selection of Phillips.
The former number one overall recruit had a late start to his career, after suffering several injuries and at one point declaring himself medically retired. After transferring to Miami from UCLA, Phillips began to improve his game, and vaulted himself into first round considerations after a breakout 2020 campaign. His injury history may force him to fall, but his combination of size, speed, and motor is very exciting, and he may be the exact type of player Mike Mayock falls in love with.
18. Miami Dolphins: Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa
Brian Flores is one of the few Belichick proteges recently that has found success as a head coach. Much like Belichick, Flores places a large emphasis on versatility, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. This is why Collins would be a perfect fit on day one.
Collins was truly a jack-of-all-trades in his time at Tulsa. He was one of the best players in all of college football last season, and did so in a number of ways. He can rush the passer, cover a runningback out of the backfield. Think D’onta Hightower type role for Collins if he were to head to south beach.
19. Washington Football Team: Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
With the trend in the NFL heading towards a youth movement at QB, it wouldn’t shock me to see Washington fall in love with Jones.
Although he’s not the most dynamic passer, Jones is a solid athlete with an incredibly comfortable feel for the game. He is a great processor with plus accuracy, and has shown impressive flashes of improvisation. He may not have a very high ceiling moving forward, but I can him instantly making that team better and elevating them into playoff contention on a year-to-year basis.
20. Chicago Bears: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
With Allen Robinson likely headed elsewhere in free agency and Anthony Miller’s slow start, the time is now to add playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Insert Bateman.
One of the most forgotten men in the whole class, Bateman is silky smooth in everything he does, and will be the most physical WR on any field he steps on. He eats up intermediate routes, and is capable of being a vertical threat. His game reminds me a ton of guys like Keenan Allen and Michael Thomas, not the most physically gifted guys, but masters of their craft and play to their strengths.
Whether or not the Bears decide to move forward with Mitchell Trubisky at QB or not, it is imperative to give the man under center some more feasible options to work with in the passing game.
21. Indianapolis Colts: Kwity Paye, EDGE, Michigan
While the temptation was high to take a receiver here, I opted for the highly athletic EDGE with limitless upside.
Not having a combine will prove to affect Paye’s stock, as he was expected to test through the roof at his position. Once listed as one of Bruce Feldman’s “freaks”, Paye finally applied his athleticism to the field in 2020. He is very reliant on his natural power and speed, and has yet to develop any consistent counter moves. If developed properly, his size/speed combo alongside Deforest Buckner could prove to be deadly for an already improving defense.
22. Tennessee Titans: Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia
Being that the Jadeveon Clowney acquisition backfired on them, the Titans are still in search of a consistent pass rush opposite of Harold Landry.
Ojulari is young and lacks experience. But when his motor gets going, he could be the most explosive rusher in the class. He’d be perfect in their 3-4 defense, and has the potential to be a good player in space as he gains more experience.
23. New York Jets: Joseph Ossai, EDGE, Texas
One of the staples of a Robert Saleh defense is consistent pressure off the edge. The Jets lack any and all types of pass rush at the moment, and Ossai’s intriguing upside in that defense could see him turn out to be a very productive player.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
Man, Notre Dame just pumps them out, don’t they? With GM Kevin Colbert’s affinity for drafting players from big name schools, Eichenberg becomes the most recent, NFL product of the offensive line factory that is Notre Dame.
Much like any of the Notre Dame linemen of the past, Eichenberg is techincally sound in everything he does. He may not be athletic enough to play left tackle, but is a plug and play right tackle from day one.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
Although the temptation would be to select a receiver here, the Jags have $100m in cap space to work with, which can be spent on one of the receivers in what is expected to be an impressive free agency class.
Cosmi may be a little undersized, but is very athletic and light on his feet for the position. If he can bulk up and maintain his athleticism, I can see him being the Jaguars’ left tackle for the next decade.
26. Cleveland Browns: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame
A surprising slide leaves Cleveland with one of the most gifted players in the draft.
JOK is a heat-seeking missile, who showed very impressive flashes in coverage. He is the prototypical, modern-day NFL linebacker through and through.
27. Baltimore Ravens: Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
Eric Decosta recently hinted at his lust for the dynamic Florida receiver. Toney was used in several different ways over the course of his career, but really seemed to find himself as a slot receiver in 2020.
On a team desperate for playmakers on offense, Toney would fit like a glove on that intermediate/short game offensive scheme. Toney is a menace with the ball in his hands. He has incredible contact balance and vision. If he continues to progress as a receiver, he would be a very nice addition.
28. New Orleans Saints: Christian Barmore, IDL, Alabama
In what looks to be a fairly uninspiring IDL class, Barmore’s stock rose in his first season as a starter. The Philly native has clubs for hands, and he proved himself to be un-blockable down the stretch. Ohio State had no answer for him in the national championship game, and he seems to only be sratching the surface of what he can become.
In this case, the Saints don’t reach for a QB and draft the best player on the board, which just so happens to be Barmore.
29. Green Bay Packers: Dyami Brown, WR, North Carolina
The Packers failure to address the receiver position came full circle this season. After losing their second consecutive NFC Championship, the lack of talent at WR cost them in the end. Enter Dyami Brown, one of the best kept secrets in the entire draft.
Brown is a budding star. Only listed at 6′1, 185-lb, Brown consistently plays larger than his frame. He is perhaps the best vertical threat in the entire draft. Brown displays freakish ball tracking skills, along with 4.3 speed. Pairing him with Rodgers could be the missing piece that gets them over the hump moving forward, and would show that the organization is dedicated to Rodgers as their guy until he retires.
30. Buffalo Bills: Nick Bolton, LB, Missouri
With Matt Milano’s future with the Bills in question, it would not surprise me to see them cut bait and go after the athletic and physical SEC backer.
Bolton is a bit undersized for the position, so pairing him with Tremaine Edmunds would be the perfect complement. He great sideline to sideline speed, and will be an immediate upgrade over Milano from an athletic standpoint.
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama
With Donovan Smith set to become a free agent, I’d imagine the Bucs will look to replace him this off-season.
Leatherwood was a two-year starter at left tackle, but is capable of playing on the interior as well. Even if the Bucs were to bring Smith back, having a depth piece to the quality of Leatherwood could serve vital for a team who is destined ti make a run until Tom Brady’s retirement.
32. Kansas City Chiefs: Alijah Vera-Tucker, iOL, USC
An interesting storyline that has gotten lost in the mix of guys like Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce, the Chiefs have battled several injuries along the offensive line. They’re likely to play 3-4 backups in the Super Bowl this Sunday.
Although the production remains elite and ultimately the deteriorating health on the line hasn’t bitten them yet, it is not a sustainable way to move forward.
Vera-Tucker is a highly refined player, who has experience playing at any spot on the line. Much like the Bucs, adding quality depth and talent among the offensive line to protect your franchise should never be a move that is scrutinized.

Josh Dunkley vs Western Bulldogs hardball
loading Geelong remains silent on whether they are ready to trade with big man Isava Ratugulia who has made it clear he wants to get to Port Adelaide during this trading period. Geelong has been reluctant to let the 24-year-old leave despite playing only four games this season, as they believe he can give them depth in many parts of the land and coach Chris Scott is a firm believer in his talent. However, with the Cats needing to trade in a second round in the future to complete the Jack Bowes deal and possibly needing first-round picks to secure both Tanner Bruhn of the Giants and OIiver Henry of Collingwood, they may need to obtain a future second-round pick from the Port of Adelaide commits. The AFL rules about keeping future shots minimal. Ratogolia played his first three games before being demoted to VFL and then needed surgery after injuring his ankle in the middle of the year. He returned to play the final round but did not appear in the finals. Port sees him playing a role in defense and as a potential rider he probably has more chances at Alberton Oval than the top defender. The Cats have a long tradition of giving players chances at other clubs after several years in their system if their place in the first team is not established. Andrew Mackie, Geelong’s roster manager, told AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday that the big cat remained a sought-after player, although Ratojulia’s position was reasonable. “We put the games in ‘SAF’ and it was a big part of our plan to chain forward in football,” Mackie said. “It’s clear that guys like Sav after six years into the system just want to start playing football, and we’ve had that discussion with him. We’ll keep trying and paint him what it looks like. “He’s a contract player. No doubt the coach loves him, we love him, but we totally understand he’s trying to figure out where he’s going to play football. We’re very clear about how that looks, so that’s where the person sits.” Versatile Geelong Big Man Esava Ratugolea.attributed to him:Getty Images Collingwood and the Giants are so adamant they want fair returns for Henry and Bronn respectively as they were selected in the first round two years ago. The Cats are keen to stick with the No. 7 pick they will earn in the Jack Bowes deal, so they may have to forgo the second round pick in the future in return. Port Adelaide is awaiting deals to acquire Jason Horne-Francis of North Melbourne and Junior Rioli of the West Coast, but a potential triple-deal involving Port, Kangaroos and West Coast was held up when the Eagles decided they wanted to get a player from Port Adelaide for the deal to work. However, Porte says rising stars such as Zach Pattiers, Mitch Georgiades, Xavier Dorsma, Josh Sen and Miles Bergman have no interest in leaving the club and have no interest in trading them. Gold Coast striker Josh Corbett joined Fremantle on Thursday. In turn, The Suns received the Dockers’ fourth-round pick in the future. Josh Corbett.attributed to him:Getty Images Corbett has scored 33 goals from 36 games since his debut for The Sun in 2019 and is a forward mover for the Dockers who are also interested in fast winger Jeremy Sharp during this commercial period. Melbourne’s Adam Tomlinson is open to a Melbourne exit after his chances of defending have been limited in the past two seasons. Source link Originally published at Melbourne News Vine
