Pillars of Creation
The Pillars of Creation is a famous region within the Eagle Nebula (M16), located about 6,500 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Serpens.
The name "Pillars of Creation" refers to the towering columns of gas and dust that are part of this stellar nursery, where new stars are being born.

It would take more than nine years for light to travel the length of this pillar of gas and dust in the Eagle Nebula. Eventually the ultraviolet light from the offscreen stars that leave it silhouetted against the nebula will erode the pillar completely. Credit: Hubble/NASA, ESA.

Messier 16 - the Eagle Nebula // Shay
(Tumblr's compression blurs the preview significantly - tap the image to view it at full resolution and it'll show up with crisp detail!)
The Eagle Nebula is most famous for the three pillars of dust at its core, known as the Pillars of Creation, but holds dozens of smaller formations within its highly active core. The nebula is a strong source of both the visible light captured in this image and higher-energy radiation, such as X-rays. It is one of the most photographed and most studied nebulae in the sky.
Captured at 1600mm with a 200mm Ritchey-Chretien telescope and a ZWO ASI533MM Pro.
This image includes about six hours of total integration time across the sulfur-ii (red in this image), hydrogen alpha (shown in green), and oxygen-iii (shown in blue) wavelengths, collected over three nights of imaging.

I don't think people realize just how involved Crowley was in the nebulae creations. Just in the series, we have three whole references to three different nebulae.

I know it's no surprise that he was involved, but people need to realize just how many nebulae he "worked very closely with upstairs" on.

Hello! Do you happen to know which nebula it is in the background of the first scene of s2? I wasn’t sure if anyone had identified it or if I should start trying to match it up with some NASA pics…
If no one has identified it, do you have any nice clear images of it?
Hiya! :)
