OPEN ON: ICE.
We're underwater looking up at it. A saw cuts through,
heading right for us.
EXT. SNOW-CAPPED MOUNTAINS -- DUSK
ICE HARVESTERS, dressed in traditional Sami clothing, score a
frozen lake. They SING.
"The Frozen Heart (Ice Worker's Song)"
ICE HARVESTERS
BORN OF COLD AND WINTER AIR
AND MOUNTAIN RAIN COMBINING,
THIS ICY FORCE BOTH FOUL AND FAIR
HAS A FROZEN HEART WORTH MINING.
The men drag giant ice blocks through channels of water.
ICE HARVESTERS (CONT'D)
CUT THROUGH THE HEART, COLD AND CLEAR.
STRIKE FOR LOVE AND STRIKE FOR FEAR.
SEE THE BEAUTY SHARP AND SHEER.
SPLIT THE ICE APART!
AND BREAK THE FROZEN HEART.
Hup! Ho! Watch your step! Let it go!
A young Sami boy, KRISTOFF (8), and his reindeer calf, SVEN,
share a carrot as they try to keep up with the men.
ICE HARVESTERS (CONT'D)
Hup! Ho! Watch your step! Let it go!
Young Kristoff struggles to get a block of ice out of the
water. He fails, ends up soaked. Sven licks his wet cheek.
ICE HARVESTERS (CONT'D)
BEAUTIFUL! POWERFUL! DANGEROUS! COLD!
ICE HAS A MAGIC CAN'T BE CONTROLLED.
A sharp ice floe overtakes the workers, threateningly. They
fight it back.
ICE HARVESTERS (CONT'D)
STRONGER THAN ONE, STRONGER THAN TEN
STRONGER THAN A HUNDRED MEN!
Massive fjord horses drag heavy ice plows.
2
FROZEN - J. Lee
ICE HARVESTERS (CONT'D)
BORN OF COLD AND WINTER AIR
AND MOUNTAIN RAIN COMBINING
The sun sets. Lanterns are lit.
ICE HARVESTERS (CONT'D)
THIS ICY FORCE BOTH FOUL AND FAIR
HAS A FROZEN HEART WORTH MINING.
CUT THROUGH THE HEART, COLD AND CLEAR.
In the dark, Kristoff and Sven finally manage to get a single
block of ice out of the water.
ICE HARVESTERS (CONT'D)
STRIKE FOR LOVE AND STRIKE FOR FEAR.
THERE'S BEAUTY AND THERE'S DANGER HERE.
SPLIT THE ICE APART!
BEWARE THE FROZEN HEART.
The workers pile onto the giant horse-drawn ice sled as it
pulls away.
Left behind, Kristoff and Sven push their ice block onto a
dinky little sled then head off.
We sweep up from them to the Northern Lights filling the
sky...then move across the mountains...beneath the
snowline...and descend upon...
EXT. THE KINGDOM OF ARENDELLE -- NIGHT
A humble castle, built of wood, nestled in a deep fjord.
INT. CASTLE, NURSERY -- NIGHT
ELSA (8) sleeps in her bed. Her little sister ANNA (5) pops
up beside her.
YOUNG ANNA
Elsa. Psst. Elsa! Psst.
Elsa doesn't stir. Anna sits on Elsa and bounces.
YOUNG ANNA (CONT'D)
Wake up. Wake up. Wake up.
YOUNG ELSA
(grumbling)
Anna, go back to sleep.
Anna rolls onto her back and spreads all her weight on Elsa.
3
FROZEN - J. Lee
YOUNG ANNA
(drama queen-ish)
I just can't. The sky's awake, so
I'm awake, so we have to play.
YOUNG ELSA
...Go play by yourself.
Elsa shoves Anna off the bed.
Anna lands butt to floor, sighs, defeated. But then she gets
an idea. She hops back on the bed and lifts one of Elsa's
eyelids.
YOUNG ANNA
(mischievously)
Do you want to build a snowman?
Elsa's eyes both pop open. She smiles.
INT. CASTLE STAIRCASE -- NIGHT
Anna, now wearing snow boots, pulls Elsa by the hand.
YOUNG ANNA
Come on, come on, come on, come on.
Elsa tries to shush her, but Anna's too excited.
INT. BALLROOM -- NIGHT
The girls sneak into the ballroom. Elsa shuts the door.
YOUNG ANNA
Do the magic! Do the magic!
Elsa laughs and waves her hands together. Snowflakes suddenly
burst forth and dance between her palms, forming a snowball.
Elsa throws the snowball high into the air. Snow bursts out
and flurries around the room. Anna dances about, catching
flakes in her palms and mouth.
YOUNG ANNA (CONT'D)
This is amazing!
YOUNG ELSA
Watch this!
Elsa stomps her little slippered foot and a layer of ice
suddenly coats the floor, forming a giant ice rink. Anna
slides off, laughing.
4
FROZEN - J. Lee
PLAY MONTAGE:
-Anna and Elsa roll giant snowballs and build a snowman
together. Elsa moves his stick arms around.
YOUNG ELSA (CONT'D)
(goofy voice)
Hi, I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs.
Anna jumps up and hugs him.
YOUNG ANNA
I love you, Olaf.
-Anna and Olaf appear to be dancing. REVEAL: Elsa is actually
propelling them across the ice floor with her magic.
-The girls slide down snowbanks together!
-Anna fearlessly jumps off a snow peak into mid air.
YOUNG ANNA (CONT'D)
Catch me!
Elsa makes another peak to catch Anna.
YOUNG ELSA
Gotcha!
Anna keeps jumping. Elsa keeps casting magic.
YOUNG ANNA
(jumping faster)
Again! Again!
YOUNG ELSA
(struggling to keep up)
Slow down!
Elsa suddenly slips.
Her magic accidentally STRIKES Anna in the head. Anna tumbles
down a snowbank and lands, unconscious.
YOUNG ELSA (CONT'D)
ANNA!
Elsa runs to Anna and takes her in her arms. A streak of
Anna's hair, where struck, turns white.
YOUNG ELSA (CONT'D)
MAMA! PAPA!
The room around them fills with frightening ice spikes.
5
FROZEN - J. Lee
The parents burst through the frozen door. GASP at the sight
of the room.
KING
Elsa, what have you done? This is
getting out of hand!
QUEEN
(seeing Anna)
Anna!
The King and Queen rush to Anna and take her in their arms.
ELSA
It was an accident. I'm sorry,
Anna.
QUEEN
(about Anna)
She's ice cold.
KING
...I know where we have to go.
SLAM CUT TO:
INT. DARK ROOM -- NIGHT
The King sifts through a shelf to find an ancient book
inscribed with Old Norse runes. He opens the book, scrambles
to a page with an ancient map.
EXT. ARENDELLE -- NIGHT
Carrying the girls, the King and Queen ride their horses out
of the kingdom. Snow streams from Elsa's hands, leaving a
trail of ice behind them.
EXT. FJORD MOUNTAIN FOREST -- NIGHT
A sleepy Kristoff and Sven travel alone through the dark
woods. All of a sudden, the King and Queen race by with the
girls, leaving the wake of ice.
KRISTOFF
Ice?
SLAM CUT TO:
6
FROZEN - J. Lee
EXT. BLACK MOUNTAINS -- NIGHT
Kristoff rides Sven as they follow the trail of ice.
YOUNG KRISTOFF
Faster, Sven!
EXT. THE VALLEY OF THE LIVING ROCK -- NIGHT
Kristoff hops off Sven at the edge of a deep valley. They
hide behind a rock and peek out.
Down below, the King holds a frightened Elsa. The Queen holds
the still unconscious Anna.
KING
Please, help. My daughter!
Suddenly, a bunch of rocks tumble down the valley toward
them. It looks as though they'll be crushed!
But, luckily, the rocks stop at their feet. The rocks then
unfold, revealing bright faces.
YOUNG KRISTOFF
Trolls...?
The rock in front of Kristoff "wakes up." Meet BULDA.
BULDA
Shush. I'm trying to listen.
She grabs Kristoff and Sven by hand and hoof and hugs them
close. Sven licks her face and she eyes them both.
BULDA (CONT'D)
Cuties. I'm gonna keep you.
Back below, the crowd parts for a troll as old as the Earth.
They call him GRAND PABBIE. He approaches arthritically, but
determined. He nods respectfully to the king.
GRAND PABBIE
Your Majesty.
(referring to Elsa)
Born with the powers or cursed?
KING
Born. And they're getting stronger.
Grand Pabbie motions for the Queen to bring Anna to him. She
does. He examines her.
7
FROZEN - J. Lee
GRAND PABBIE
(about Anna)
You are lucky it wasn't her heart.
The heart is not so easily changed,
but the head can be persuaded.
KING
Do what you must.
GRAND PABBIE
I recommend we remove all magic,
even memories of magic to be
safe.... But don't worry, I'll
leave the fun.
Grand Pabbie pulls out a glowing blue energy from Anna's
head. We see her memories floating right above her. Grand
Pabbie changes all of her magical memories to ordinary
memories -- snowy play indoors with the girls in their
nightgowns changes to outdoors on the winter fjords with the
girls in winter gear. He puts the ordinary memories back in
her head.
GRAND PABBIE (CONT'D)
She will be okay.
YOUNG ELSA
But she won't remember I have
powers?
KING
It's for the best.
PABBIE
Listen to me, Elsa, your power will
only grow.
As he speaks, he conducts the Northern Lights to show a
silhouette of an adult Elsa creating magical snowflakes.
PABBIE (CONT'D)
There is beauty in your magic....
But also great danger.
The snowflakes turn to sharp spikes.
PABBIE (O.S.) (CONT'D)
You must learn to control it.
In the Northern Lights display, the sharp spikes cause human
figures to panic and attack Elsa.
PABBIE (CONT'D)
Fear will be your enemy.
8
FROZEN - J. Lee
Elsa gasps and buries her face in the King's chest. The King
wraps his arms around Elsa, protectively.
KING
No. We'll protect her. She can
learn to control it. I'm sure.
Over the King's words we...
DISSOLVE TO:
-The Arendelle castle gates shutting.
KING (O.S.) (CONT'D)
Until then, we'll lock the gates.
We'll reduce the staff. We will
limit her contact with people and
keep her powers hidden from
everyone... including Anna.
-The castle shutters close.
-Anna sits on her bed as Elsa's furniture disappears.
-Anna rushes to the hall to see Elsa shut the door to her new
room. Anna watches, confused and sad.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. CASTLE WINDOW -- DAY
We look out on a gentle snowfall. Little Anna skips up to the
window. She lights up at the sight of the snow and rushes
down the hall.
INT. HALLWAY, ELSA'S DOOR -- DAY
Anna knocks on Elsa's door and SINGS.
"Do You Want to Build a Snowman?"
YOUNG ANNA
DO YOU WANT TO BUILD A SNOWMAN?
COME ON LET'S GO AND PLAY.
Anna peeks under the door.
YOUNG ANNA (CONT'D)
I NEVER SEE YOU ANYMORE.
COME OUT THE DOOR.
IT'S LIKE YOU'VE GONE AWAY.
9
FROZEN - J. Lee
-INT. ANNA'S ROOM -- Anna plays with two dolls, gives up, sad.
YOUNG ANNA (CONT'D)
WE USED TO BE BEST BUDDIES
AND NOW WE'RE NOT.
I WISH YOU WOULD TELL ME WHY.
-ELSA'S DOOR. Anna peeks through the key hole.
YOUNG ANNA (CONT'D)
DO YOU WANT TO BUILD A SNOWMAN?
-Anna calls through the keyhole.
YOUNG ANNA (CONT'D)
IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A SNOWMAN.
YOUNG ELSA (O.S.)
Go away, Anna.
YOUNG ANNA
(hearbroken)
...OKAY BYE.
-BEHIND THE DOOR -- DAY. Elsa sits at the window looking out,
longingly. Suddenly, her icy hands freeze the windowsill.
-LATER. The King slips leather gloves onto Elsa's hands.

This is a script I wrote a long time ago but recently found in my docs the story is called The Cresent Moon tell me what you guys think.
Crescent Moon
FADE IN:
EXT: Oak forest, dusk.
Two werewolves are hunting in the woods. They need to find food soon or their pups could die. The two wolves (Mackenzie & Maxine/Max) shift into their human forms to track a deer.
Mackenzie: We won’t be able to find enough meat to support ourselves let alone the pups for the entire winter if we keep this pace. Let’s move to a more prey-filled area before the first frost sets in then we…. Max. Max, what are you doing?
Max grabs her knife and starts to growl and stalks toward Mackenzie.
Max (Snarling): Something I should have done two years ago. GoodBye Mackenzie.
Max pounces and slashes at Mackenzie’s chest and face and leaves her for dead.
10 minutes later a saber-tooth werecat (Vanessa) comes across Mackenzie’s dying body and takes her into her home to help her heal.
INT: Vanessa’s house, morning
Mackenzie wakes up on a couch bandaged up in Vanessa’s house the next day confused about where she was and how she got here.
Vanessa walks in from the kitchen with a cup of water.
Vanessa: Good, you're awake.
Mackenzie: Where am I and why am I here?
Vanessa: You’re in my house. I brought you here to help you heal. You’re lucky I found you in the woods when I did or you could have died.
Vanessa points to the bandages on Mackenzie’s chest.
Vanessa offers Mackenzie a cup of water. Mackenzie takes the glass and takes a few sips
Vanessa: I don’t want to hurt you more than what you already have been through. I’m Vanessa.
Mackenzie: I’m Mackenzie and thank you for saving my life.
The crescent moon mark on Vanessa’s shoulder begins to glow a faint pink
Vanessa: I should go get some venison. Are you hungry Mackenzie?
Mackenzie: Not really but I’ll try to eat something.
Vanessa (puts hand on Mackenzie’s shoulder): Hey you don't have to eat if you really don't want to but atleast try to eat something.

God of Damage, short scene.
Protagonist 1
Name:  June
Nickname(s):  June bug, Good Month
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Height: 5”8
Race:  Caucasian
Family: Roma (Mother), Jamus (Uncle)
Current Location:  A clearing somewhere near Ridge Wall, the capital city of Uspon
Background:  Raised in a quiet, peaceful village of Clear Shorn that many travelers came to throughout the year because it wasn’t far off from the Land Bridge between Uspon and Troik Plye, June grows up small for his age and extremely shy.  He never wanted to play the games that the village children were interested in, games about stones and hiding, spending most of his time in the woods and the sheep fields of his Uncle Jamus.  He was well loved by his mother and uncle and for a long time that was all he thought he wanted in his life but he knew, in his secret heart, that he longed for a real friend.  He was quiet and could never voice his loneliness because he didn’t want to burden the two adults in his life.  When he was 8, however, he met the one person in the world that was meant to be with him, no matter the distance, the cost, or the danger.  It wasn’t like either child knew it at the time, but they would come to know the price of their love in time, when they find the Book. The Book that leads them to the Sword. The Sword that will lead them to the unknowingly worshipped God of Damage.
  Protagonist 2
Name:  Sefton
Nickname(s):  Sef
Gender:  Male
Age:  21
Height: 6”0
Race:  Caucasian and Asian
Family:  Eostre (Mother), Tyr (Father)
Current Location:  Sefton is wherever June is, rarely apart
Background:  Sef and his family moved from the capital when he was 10 and he didn’t take the move well.  The child with dark blue hair like the bottom of the ocean and eyes the richest shade of purple like a freshly picked grape from the vine was angry and frustrated to be torn from his life in Trana, the capital of Troik Plye.  When they moved to the small, peaceful village, the locals saw the boy with a frown with a wolf’s snarl, they instantly pulled their children close and begged them not to play with that feral-looking boy.  It left Sef lonely and even more angry because he just wanted to be around kids his own age.  That left the 10 year old to wander on his own aimlessly through the woods in the summer before lessons would start and it lead him to stumbling upon the small shepherd in the field with his flock and if he knew then what he knows now, that this was the person meant for him, he would have been even happier than he was at the time.  They would never be lonely again.  They would be together until they found that Book that Sefton could almost see the curse in the pages, on the binding and the cover.  They would be together until they found the Sword that fit so well into his hand and it was like an extension of his being and it made June so uneasy to watch him wield it.  They would be together until the Sword lead them to the God of Damage who would end their time together.
   Summary
“The God of Damage” is the story of two young and fated lovers and their journey across the world and eventually, to the unknowingly worshipped God of Damage, who creates the things that cause harm to people.  On their quest, June and Sefton end up encountering illegal street magic, the day where they outsmart the castle guards by selling them a bottle of honey, a woman who steals dreams to make a dress, a man who can forge swords in his heart’s hearth, and a girl who can only speak in spell sounds: her words distant bells and thunder.  Those three people will end up joining them on their quest to kill the source of damage in the world because they can remember their own pain so clearly, burdened by it and carrying it with them like a dead body tied to their legs.  Eventually, when they become a group of five, they learn of what they need to meet the mysterious and sealed away demon god. The Tome of Warbringer’s Gold will tell them how to find the Sword.  The Fleeting Tome which stayed with the Sword, the ink only appearing to the one who would wield the Glass Sword that would cut through reality to find the Hidden One.  The last book of the Triad was not for them but eventually one of them will come to know it’s words all too well.
           The God of Damage
Characters:
June – Beautiful, thin, pale blue hair and dark green eyes.  Quiet, shy, but instantly opens up with Sefton.  Dressed in rustic traveling clothes – tunic, long pants, a cloak, a belt full of supplies, all in earth tones.
Sefton – Tall, reminiscent of a wolf, handsome, dark blue hair and vicious purple eyes.  Strong willed, charming, and friendly, happiest and most honest around June.  Dressed similarly to June but his are embroidered with a guard’s insignia and done in royal blues and greens.
FADE IN from black to reveal title
TITLE – “The God of Damage”
Before finding the clearing in the woods near Ridge Wall, June and Sef have been gone from their home for the past 2 months, traveling at least a league and then some in a day.  They are relatively unhurried, not yet sure of what it is they should be doing on their travels.  They just want to help people, kill monsters, but besides that they wander aimlessly.  Earlier in the day they had left a small, no-name village where a nice girl in the inn had taken a liking to them, namely to Sef’s grin.  They had gone into the inn to look for shelter and maybe a bounty when she had come over and offered them a guard’s position for the little town. The insignia emblazoned in Sef’s clothes had obviously been the reason she had offered it, even if she had no place to.  Sefton had said that he would think about it and it had left June irritated.  They had agreed to go on this journey together and suddenly, in June’s mind, it could come to an end so it left him worried and uncharacteristically angry with Sefton.  He practically dragged the other from the inn, insisting that they needed to keep traveling even though it was rather late in the day, dusk not far off.

Chuckling and grinning, not bothered in the slightest
                                       (Curious, amused)
What does it hurt to be called June Bug, hm, June Bug?
                                                   JUNE:
Staring at the other with a blush on his face, still trying to remain mad.
(Less anger, more worry and sadness)
That’s not the point and you know it.  How could you tell that girl that you would consider taking a guard’s position? That town doesn’t even have a station FOR the guards…
                                                                                                               CUT TO
CU OF SEFTON – Sef realizes now why June was being so argumentative for perhaps the first time in his life.  The amusement fades out of his face and he becomes briefly serious because he doesn’t want to hurt June any more than he has.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
2MS FROM JUNE’S LEFT – Sefton pulls himself up into a squat, shuffling the short distance that separates them so now he can sit next to the younger.  He sits down again, leaning back on his palms and spreading his legs out wide, twisting his ankles a little bit because they were a little stiff.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
2MS FROM THE FRONT, JUNE ON THE LEFT, SEFTON ON THE RIGHT
                                                       SEFTON:
The subtext is that he’s asking if June really thinks that he would leave him and their adventure.
                                                       (Quietly)
You thought I’d leave all of this fun to go take a guard’s job?
                                                        JUNE:
Raising his knees and wrapping his arms around them, he can’t bear to look at the other because he’s embarrassed from his lack of faith in his childhood friend turned beloved.  He’s still got a blush on his face.
                                                    (Mumbling)
                               I…  It was a moment of weakness…
He turns to look at Sef for some sort of understanding as to why he felt the way he did.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
OTS FROM JUNE’S RIGHT SHOULDER
                                                        SEFTON:
He sits up a little bit straighter as June turns to look at him and he gives him a soft, forgiving smile, never able to be mad at him for more than a second and even that was too long.
(Gently, warmly, a hint of teasing)
She wasn’t even as pretty as you.
He grins widely, all his teeth flashing as he makes a little joke about it to ease the tension between them.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
2MS FROM THE FRONT, JUNE ON THE LEFT, SEFTON ON THE RIGHT – June laughs almost shyly before teasingly pushing Sef in the shoulder and just like that, the anger and frustration is gone, replaced with ease and adoration from both parties.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
WS OF THE CLEARING – Issues easily resolved, the two actually start picking up branches like they meant it to set up for the night.
                                                                                                      DISSOLVE TO
WS OF THE CLEARING, CLEANER – There’s a small tent held together by branches and a prayer, a fire that’s spitting and crackling, and a few lizards and squirrels roasting next to the flame.  June is sitting next to the fire, eyeing the meat with a ravenous hunger.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
MS OF SEF WALKING BACK TO CLEARING, DOLLY BACK AND PAN RIGHT WITH HIM – Sef has a bucket of water with him as he returns to their little camp and he sets it down next to the fire before coming to sit down next to June with grunts of muscles protesting.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
2MS FROM THE FRONT, JUNE ON THE LEFT AND SEFTON ON THE RIGHT – Mimicking the earlier shot, now there is no tension except for hunger.
                                                     SEFTON:
He checks on the meat to make sure they haven’t burnt anything before turning a little to look at June.
                                                    (Teasingly)
Every meal you act like you may never see it again.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
OTS FROM SEFTON’S LEFT SHOULDER – June huffs and rolls his eyes at the older
DOLLY OUT TO 2MS – June scrambles forward as one of the lizards successfully burn, the boy cursing under his breath as he tries to wave the fire off, only to launch the lizard behind him into the bushes.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
CU OF SEFTON – His eyes go wide and he instantly bursts into loud, raucous laughter, falling backwards as he holds his stomach because it was so funny to watch June do thoughtless things.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
OTS FROM JUNE, SEFTON IN FOCUS – June’s head droops as he sighs, embarrassed and hungry all at the same time and Sef’s laughter wasn’t helping matters any.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
MS OF JUNE- He gets to his feet and walks towards where he thinks the lizard-turned-comet went.
                                                                                                               CUT TO
XCU OF JUNE’S FACE – His eyes go wide and he can’t help but gasp in surprise at what he finds
DOLLY BACK QUICKLY TO WS – June falls backwards and lands on his butt in the dirt
FALLING SFX – BRANCHES BREAKING, A THUD, ETC
                                                                                                               CUT TO
MS OF SEFTON LAYING ON HIS BACK ON THE GROUND, A STICK WITH SQUIRREL MEAT IN HIS HAND – Sef looks up from where he’s laying when he hears June fall
                                                                                                               CUT TO
WS – Sefton scrambles to his feet, leaving the impaled squirrel in the dust as he runs to go find out what made June fall.

Weekend Events For May 5-7
http://ift.tt/2p0W9rI
Frog Safari, time travel & “Earth, Play, Work Day” volunteer opportunities. Always something to do outside at Devil’s Lake State Park!  This weekend’s park events are all happening on Saturday!
Hike Back In Time – Saturday, May 6 from 9am to 12:30pm.
Enjoy a geologic exploration of Devil’s Lake retired park naturalist, Ken Lange. See rocks transported by glaciers, potholes, Devil’s Doorway, a 200-year old cedar quartzite glade, and a pygmy forest. This hike is about 3.5 – 4 miles, with some steep sections. Please wear proper footwear and bring plenty of water.
Earth, Play, Work Day – Saturday, May 6 from 10am to 12:00pm.
Looking for a good way to celebrate Earth Day while giving back to and enjoying your favorite Wisconsin State Park? Join us for Work*Play*Earth Day workday at Devil’s Lake! (Sponsored by the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks)
This year we are going to work a few projects throughout the park.
We will need people to . . .
Work with the State Natural Areas crew to remove garlic mustard along the Grottos Trail.
Help clean up and block “volunteer trails” (trails that are not official trails) in the Steinke Basin area and on the East Bluff.
What else can you do?
There’s lots of other project that we need volunteers to help with to get ready for the summer season that day.
You can . . .
Help pick up rocks and sticks from the north and south shore picnic areas (a great project for little kids!)
You can pull garlic mustard – garlic mustard has exploded in the park this year and we need volunteers to help remove it. We’ll have bags at the nature center and visitor center you can pick up to put the plants in. You can dispose of the bags in any of the dumpsters located in the park.
Pick up trash. The beach/picnic areas and trails always need volunteers to pick up litter. Again, garbage bags will be available at the south shore bird effigy mound.
Sea of Garlic Mustard where the RR tracks meet South Shore Road!
Dress for getting a little dirty and bring gloves if you feel you’ll need them.
Frog Safari – Saturday, May 6  from 7:30 to 9:00pm
If you are a frog fanatic, (Or you just want a fun excuse to get your kids outside!!!) you will want to join the park naturalist for this nocturnal trip to the park’s kettle ponds. You’ll listen for spring peepers, wood frogs, and chorus frogs. You’ll also explore what other night sounds you can hear as the group hikes the Johnson Moraine Trail. Bring your flashlight as you’ll be hiking right around dusk.
Questions? Contact Sue Johansen, Park Naturalist (608) 356-8301 Ext. 140 [email protected]

What is Earth Day?
Earth Day is an annual event held to show support for environmental protection which is celebrated on April 22nd each year. The first earth day was celebrated in 1970. **
Standing On My Soap Box
In 2017 when we struggle to get kids and adults outdoors at all, Earth Day is more important than ever but what we do with it might need an upgrade. Sometimes I think we’re now spending too much time on selling products and pushing politics under the guise of “protection” when we should be spending more time on simple “appreciation”.  If folks don’t appreciate our natural world they will be less inclined to buy “green” products or vote for environmental protections. If it were up to me, “Earth Day” would simply be about getting people outside and helping them reconnect with nature. With connection comes appreciation. With appreciation comes the urge to protect.
Have a great weekend!
