Please excuse any errors!
I began packing my things into boxes while Yoongi and the other men stood there watching and occasionally helping me. Though I was still suspicious of their intentions, I allowed them to help me. The way they stood around me was as if they were protecting me from something, or ready to protect me.
What’s the deal with that?
I scoffed as I tossed the last of my items into the second box. I was crouched underneath my desk, gather my belonging when I heard two familiar voices mumbling. I stood up, leaving the box on the ground.
“Y/N!” Bora squeaked, taken by surprise. Yeji stood beside her, sizing up Yoongi who stood beside the front of the desk. Their eyes darting to the different men surrounding my desk area.
“What is going on?” Yeji asked, looking a bit worried.
I sighed, dreading the situation.
“I’m going to work for someone else for some time. I answered.
“For how long?” Bora questioned.
“I can’t be sure,” I answered dully. I bent down once again, picking up box one The box was immediately taken out my hands by one of the men. It was a kind gesture but it happened so quickly, I was thrown off. Just as I stood shocked by the quick reflexes of the men, Bora and Yeji were beyond freaked
I glanced at the other men before bending down to pick box two which was intercepted by another one of the men. I think the one that was called Hoseok. I grabbed my purse, checking it for my phone before dropping my shoulders.
I looked at Yeji and Bora one last time, waving to them. They pouted, waving sadly. I stepped out from behind my desk, setting my eyes on Yoongi.
“Now what?” I almost hissed. I wasn’t sure if he ignored my tone, or just didn’t notice it, but he began to lead me to the elevator as the other men trailed behind.
We all piled into the empty space, having the doors close with a bang. I stood there staring at my own reflection in the mirrors. Talk about discomfort.
“Umm,” My voice cut through the silence, “I’m assuming that I will be seeing you all a lot? Can I at least learn your names?”
I gazed at them from the foggy reflection in the doors.
The two who were holding boxes whispered something to each other before the shorter one broke out in a cheeky smile. I almost chuckled at the change in demeanor. He was wearing a void expression just moments ago.
“I am Jimin. Park Jimin.”
“Hoseok.” The other one stated, showing a small smile.
“I am Jungkook.” The other man spoke. He stood in the back, leaning on the elevator. He looked the most casual of them all, almost annoyed. The way in which he spoke reminded me of a whining child.
“And I already know your name, Yoongi.” I stated quickly. He simply nodded.
As the elevator doors opened, we stepped out into the lobby area. We were f course drawing attention, as a girl like me was surrounded by these intimidating men.
“So where are we going?” I asked to no one in particular.
No one answered me. I scoffed and rolled my eyes, following Yoongi who led us to the front of the building. There sat a big black SUV. I looked at the men, trying to figure out if this was the car that was to take me to their office.
My silent question was answered as Yoongi opened the door for me. I climbed in as Jungkook followed me, taking the seat on my right. The trunk was being opened, the boxes of my work material being thrown in.
I’m...I’m not being sold or anything right? Mr. Kwon wouldn’t do something like that, and though I sense no danger; I don’t feel at ease. Something in my gut tells me there is more to this than just a secretary job.
My purse sat in my lap while nervously looked past Jungkook and out the window. Jungkook was leaning back in his seat, looking forward, as if he was purposely trying to avoid my gaze. He sat a bit stiff, never seeming to relax.
Hoseok sat on my other side, having me sandwiched between the two men. Yoongi was in the driver’s seat while Jimin sat in passengers. I began to mess with the ring on my finger, hoping to distract myself from this uncomfortable atmosphere.
“Do you want me to turn on the radio?” Jimin asked me. I looked up a bit surprised by his question. Just as Yoongi began driving the car.
“If you want to. I don’t mind either way.” I answered honestly.
Jimin, whose smile didn’t drop, nodded and didn’t turn on the radio. I dug into my purse, taking out my phone which was running on 20%. I started looking through emails and replying quickly.
The car was only filled with the sound of my phone ringing every now and then. I was frantically answering emails concerning Mr. Kwon. I’m honestly wondering how he’s going to function without me there.
That’s why I wanted to finish the day before starting whatever this new job is. I was in the middle of typing a response to an email when I got a phone call. I didn’t recognize the number.
I looked around to see Jungkook looking at me.It seems my ringtone was bothering him, at least that’s what the impatience look in his eyes was telling me.
I clicked answer, placing the phone to my ear. I was a bit worried about keeping my voice low, but it seems the men in the car with me were already listening in.
“Hello?” I answered kindly. I put on my ‘sweet voice’. The same voice I use when speaking to Mr. Kwn during one of his fits.
“Hello? Ms. Y/N? I am going to need to cancel my meeting with Mr. Kwon. This is Mr. Lee.” The deep voice who spoke to me sounded young. Mr. Lee was a 76-year-old man, so my brows furrowed as I listened to the husky voice.
“Oh, Mr. Lee…” My voice sounded uncertain as I racked through my mind to try to match the voice to a face. This certainly isn’t Mr. Lee. Mr. Lee’s number is saved in my phone, so what number is this.
“I’m sorry sir, but I no longer work for Mr. Kwon.” I spoke softly, looking at the rearview mirror to meet Yoongi’s eyes.
“Really? Where do you work now?” He questioned. My face scrunched up due to his tone. It sounded desperate and rushed. I stayed on the line, keeping silent. The person wasn’t speaking either. All I could hear was his labored breathing.
I pressed my lips into a flat line before sighing, “You’re not Mr. Lee are you?” As I spoke those words I became aware of the attention that was now on me. Both Hoseok and Jimin were listening intently. The line became silent. My eyes began to shift around, meeting Jimin’s sharp eyes.
“Hello?” I muttered into the phone.
“Just tell me where you are.” The voice spoke more aggressively.
“What are you-”
“I can’t let you be his!” The person was shouting now, “Tell me where you are!” My face scrunched up in shock and without a word, I hit the end button. Though my heart was racing, and I was a bit freaked out, I didn’t want to display that to the other men in the car.
Before I could laugh off the intense conversation, Hoseok grabbed my phone from my hand. So swiftly, I could only watch as he opened the car window flinging my phone out of it.
My brows furrowed and my jaw dropped as I stared out the open window. All I could do was blink for some time before anger began to bubble up in me.
“Why ” my voice was nearly a hiss, “Why in the world did you do that?”
“Because of that phone call,” Hoseok answered calmly. I gawked at him in pure horror, scoffing in disbelief.
“A stupid prank call isn’t a reason to throw my $700 phone out the window. That was an idiotic move.”
“It wasn’t a prank call, and I was just taking precaution.”
“How is that a precaution?” I stared at him. When he didn’t reply, simply rolling up the window, I looked to my side where Jungkook was looking out the other window.
“Jeez. You all are way too intense. I expect my phone to be paid for.” I hissed. I leaned back in my seat, searching through my purse to find a mint to munch on. It isn’t even lunch yet and I’m already tired. I sighed, closing my eyes, hoping to relax in some way.
“It seems we’re not starting on a good foot,” Jungkook spoke from beside me.
I chuckled, “You think? I feel like I’m kidnapped.”
“You’re not that far off.” Yoongi mumbled, “But it seems your perception of us isn’t too good right now. Taehyung isn’t gonna be happy if you hate us before we’ve even arrived at the company.”
“Well you all walked into the office like some type of gang, and somehow scared Mr. Kwon shitless. The poor man was sweating bullets. Through your fear tactics, convinced him to convince me to go work for you. I’m not stupid. I’m onto you. What are y’all anyways? Corrupt businessmen? Drug lords? A gang? The mafia? Just be upfront with me.” I stated. They didn’t say anything, so I kept talking.
“Tell me what’s going on. I could sense the aura from y’all the moment I looked at Mr. Kim.”
“Just call him Taehyung, such formalities aren’t needed,” Jimin spoke kindly.
“You could sense our bad auras? You’re just gonna judge us off a feeling? Not very fair.” Hoseok teased, but when I looked at him. His eyes were focused on the window.
“Well, I’ll let you know that this feeling has helped me avoid a lot of trouble. My grandmother told me to always believe that feeling.”
“Your grandma huh?” Jungkook muttered.
“Yup. She always told me I was something special, you know all the normal things a grandmother tells her grandchild.”
“So the vibe we gave you was bad?” This time it was Jimin asking. Rather than looking back at me from the front seat, his gaze was trained on the road.
I paused for a moment, biting my bottom lips while I pondered.
“No,” I responded, “If I’m going to be real, it felt familiar with a bit or danger.”
My words hung in the air, not seeming to settle. After a few moments of silence, I spoke.
“You never answered me. Are you guys corrupt businessmen, a gang, or part of the mafia?” No answer, which had me thinking the worse. My thoughts were interrupted as the car came to a stop. We were in a parking garage. I hadn’t even noticed the lack of sun shining through the windows. It was replaced by fluorescent lights that light the area dimly.
There were many cars parked, all of them fancy newer models. Hoseok was the first to step out the car, leaving the door open for me. Since the car was a bit higher, Hoseok held his hand out, helping me as I jumped down. E closed the door behind me and began to lead the way. The others trailed behind.
We walked through a glass door which led to a white hallway. And an elevator. The building looks pretty professional. The elevator doors opened and I stepped in waiting for the other men to follow. Yoongi pressed the button for the 25th floor.
I wasn’t paying much attention but I suddenly noticed the name that sat above the elevator buttons. My eyes widen and my jaw dropped. I began to cough from shock.
“TK Investments?” I muttered to myself. My gaze fell to the floor, looking at the shoes of the men who stood with me.
“Taehyung owns TK Investments?” I questioned, looking up and seeing Jungkook already looking at me. He nodded meekly, the corner of his lips pulling into a smile.
Everyone knows who TK investments. The place that big time companies come to for funding. They hold stocks in Apple, Windows, Lotte, Samsung and more. It’s said the CEO gained some money and put them all in stocks and investments, thus launching his company.
Though he refuses to do interviews and appearances so a lot of the general public haven't seen him. All people know about him is that he’s young. He goes by TK. So basically Taehyung Kim?
“Taehyung is TK? Seriously?” I was speaking way too loudly since we were all close to each other.
“Yes.” Jungkook spoke softly. The elevators open to reveal an office area where people sat at desks doing work. Some of them were walking around with papers and others were typing away at their computers. I only remembered to exit the elevator when Jimin cleared his throat, snapping me out of my daze.
I stepped out, lingering a bit till the guys started to lead the way. We strolled past all the desks, where some of the office workers stood up to bow slightly. We walked through a hallway, past some others rooms. A few conference rooms, break rooms and other things till we came to an open space at the end of the hallway. It was like a waiting room. There was a front desk and behind it a woman was sitting
She looked up the moment we entered, a strained smile meeting soft features. Her black hair pulled back into a bun on her head. There were also a few couches in the place. Behind her desk was a big wall which was also a window. The sun shined through, making the gray walls seem less dull.
“Jisoo, It’s nice to see you.” Jungkook greeted. For the first time today he smiled wide enough to show his teeth. I pursed my lips, my eyes moving between the two. Though Jisoo didn’t seem too interested. She was looking at me, her gaze not all too welcoming.
“He found her?” She asked, raising an eyebrow. Something about her didn’t sit right with me.
Everyone ignored her question.
“Is he in?” Yoongi asked looking towards black door not too far from Jisoo’s desk. The door suddenly opened revealing Taehyung with a big smile on his face. His eyes met mine as if he couldn’t see anyone else in the room. I sucked in a deep breath, thrown off by the weight of his stare.
“Y/n,” He said, “Hi.”
“Hi.” I spoke softly.
“So I was promised that everything would be explained,” I mentioned. Taehyung nodded, gesturing for me to follow him as he disappeared back into his office.
I glanced at Jisoo who was still glaring, before following him. Yoongi and the others didn’t follow. I entered the big office which had a large desk, two seats in front of it along with a few couches off to the side.
My eyes were so busy darting over the interior I didn’t notice the two men that were already standing there in addition to Taehyung. It wasn’t till someone closed the door behind me that I tuned into reality.
“This is Namjoon and Jin.” Taehyung said from behind his desk, taking a seat. I greeted the two men shortly.
“So who is gonna pay for my phone?” I uttered. Namjoon’s brows furrowed,
“Hoseok threw my phone out the car window,” I informed. I watched as Jin groaned throwing his head back.
“I can’t believe him.” He grumbled.
“Okay, we’ll figure that out later, now, I need to get right to business.” Taehyung said. There wasn't a chair for me to sit in, so Namjoon stood up from his seat, offering it to me.
I took the seat gladly, setting my bag on the ground beside me.
“So I was correct, I’m not here to be a secretary.” I voiced.
“Nope.” Taehyung answered.
“And you really did threaten or somehow scare Mr. Kwon into convincing me to go along with all this.”
Taehyung proceeds to just gawk at me, making me assume that I was right.
“Alright, now this is the part where you explain to me why I’m here.” I pressed.
Taehyung sighed, running his fingers through his chestnut brown hair. He trained his eyes on his desk for a moment, trying to figure out how to proceed.
“I want you to be my wife,” Taehyung said.
Silence. Complete silence.
My eyes stayed on Taehyung, waiting for him to laugh.
“What?” My voice rang through the place, “You want me to what?”
“Taehyung you can’t just say it like that,” Namjoon hissed, “You’re gonna freak her out!”
“Well, she seems like a straight up person, so I thought I would be straight up.”
“W-wait. Everyone stop talking.” I almost shouted, “Taehyung you said you want me to be your wife? You don’t even know who I am! You can’t marry someone you don’t love.”
“Well, then that’s no problem because I love you,” Taehyung spoke a matter-of-fact. I shook my head, taken back by his words. I grabbed my bag and stood up from my seat.
“No, no no. I don’t know what kind of nonsense you’re shouting, but I don’t want to be here for it.” I argued.
“Please Y/N, just listen to what I have to say.” Taehyung’s smile was no longer present. He looked rather worried.
“Taehyung how could you possibly love me? You don’t know me!” I snapped back.
“That’s why,” Taehyung’s voice was a bit softer this time, “If you’ll sit down and listen, this will all make sense.”
I glared at him, turning to Namjoon and Jin who were holding comforting smiles. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes to think for a moment.
I slowly sat down, setting my bag back on the floor.
“Go on.” I urged, crossing my ankles slightly.
“Say hey Tae Bae.” He mentioned.
“What? I am confused. What does that have to do with anything?” I’m starting to get annoyed.
Exaggerating the words this time Taehyung spoke, “Say hey Tae Bae.”
My eyes narrowed at the man before me. Say hey Tabe bae? What does that have to do with…..oh wait.
“Y/n!” My grandmother called from outside. I sat in the living room playing with my blocks. Though my ears heard her calling, my focus was on the blocks before. Being six years old, what else do you expect?
“Y/n!” My grandmother shouted again. I whined, throwing my blocks down on the floor, lifting myself off the ground. Summer just started by I was staying inside, something my grandmother was not happy about. She wanted me to spend more time outside. She said I was way too shy for my own good.
I walked out the front door to the patio of the house where my grandmother stood with a woman and a young boy who was about my age. My steps slowed down as I assessed the situation. Right away I caught the small boy’s attention. He was almost hiding behind the woman that I'm assuming is his mother. His eyes were stuck on me, unmoving.
It seems his mother noticed his gaze, thus becoming aware of my presence.
“Y/n you’re here.” My grandmother said glancing my way. I walked forward till I was standing right beside her.
“These wonderful people are renting the house next door. This is Ms. Kim and her son Taehyung.”
I bowed to Ms. Kim before looking nervously at Taehyung the shy boy whose eyes were nearly shielded by his hair. His mother pushed him forward, the nerves on his face clear.
“Say hey Tae bae.” His mother nearly whispered. I couldn’t help it, once I heard those words I giggled.
Ms. Kim chuckled, “It’s kind of funny right? Taehyung is a little shy when he meets new people, but that’s just something I always say to get him to say hello.”
Snickering, I repeated her words.
“Say hey Tae bae.” My voice soft and still a little shaky with laughter.
The boy before looked down at his power ranger sneakers, “Hi.”
My body froze as I made the connection. What? There is no way?
“Tae-Tae? Taehyung from next door?” I gasped, not sure if I wanted to freak out or laugh. Taehyung smiled expectantly, biting his lip.
I tried to fight off my laughter as I stared at Taehyung.
“Oh my goodness! You really are Tae-Tae from next door! Wow! Wow! Oh my gosh, look at you! How could I not recognize you!” I chimed. My laughter died down as I thought of the situation at hand.
“Wait, so how did you find me?” I questioned, all my joy from earlier gone.
“It wasn’t that hard.” He simply shrugged, that glowing smile on his lips again.
“Okay so you knew me years ago for one summer, now you want me to marry you? How does that make any sense?”
Taehyung stood up from his chair, walking around to the front of the desk. He stood about 6 feet from me.
“I fell in love with you that summer.” He said. I scoffed looking to Namjoon and Jin who were watching our whole exchange silently. They stared at me with serious expressions, no sense of humor meeting their eyes. I looked back at Taehyung.
“You were like 7! How could you have possibly fallen in love with me? You couldn’t have known what love was at that age. And even if you did, how can still love me after all these years? Taehyung nothing about that makes sense.” I retorted.
Taehyung walked till he was standing right in front of me. Then he crouched down so he was almost kneeling in front of me.
This way making me the taller one in their situation, as I sat in the teacher. Thus making him look up at me.
“My dear Y/n, I know I fell in love with you that summer because I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since.” His deep brown eyes were welcoming me. So warm and enchanting.
“How? How could you keep thinking about me, one person, for all these years?”
“Because my kind only falls in love once, and that’s it.” A smirk pulled at his lips and he blinked up at me.
My next words were hesitant and shaky, “Your kind?”
As if to answer my question, the deep brown eyes that were on me now changed to a dazzling gold. My eyes widen and I leaned away from Taehyung.
“W-what are you?”
A/N: Let me know what you think!
