Voyages Extraordinaries

Voyages extraordinaries, a poster created by Choi Eungi with Cheongju Museum of art. Was a piece displayed in 2024, to advertise the collections and works of Frac Picardie and Frac Grand Large- Hauts-de-France. A place where the public is welcomed and introduced to current ways and promotes contemporary art, and different forms of creativity. A place for anyone and everyone to come and get inspired. With many different bodies of work from array of artist. I think the intent of this piece of art, is visually communicating adventure and imagination with the focus of this poster being the heart created out of shapes, which has a depth to how it has been placed, making it feel big but airy like you’re floating. While also the lines overlapping image connecting type creating parallel lines like a trap or so for this balloon like a string. Type not being the focus the eye immediately goes to only having key information for the audience to read. While also using what looks like Korean type is well, creating an interesting  pattern with text.

The poster for Voyages Extraordinaires 2024, commissioned by the Cheongju Museum of Art and curated by Choi Eungi, effectively captures the spirit of exploration and adventure central to both Jules Verne’s literary works and the modern and contemporary art on display in the exhibition. The recurring imagery of a large deflated balloon throughout the exhibition, which evokes both the globe and the romantic notion of exploration, is cleverly incorporated into the poster’s design. The shape of the balloon, alongside the exhibition title, aligns visually with vertical lines, which resemble both strings attached to balloons and longitude lines on a map. The typeface is carefully crafted to appear lightweight and seamlessly integrated with these lines, blurring the distinction between the two. This thoughtful design not only highlights the thematic connection between the exhibition and Verne’s explorations but also promotes an open-ended interpretation of the exhibition's core concepts. The design choices align with my own work, where clear communication through visual intention is key to connecting with the audience.
