The black dress felt far too tight on you. Maybe it was your nerves or it was just tight, either way, you were uncomfortable. You had agreed to go with Pau when he asked without hesitation, but you seemed to have forgotten that you would have to spend hours in the dress you’d boughten. Not to mention, the heels? They were digging onto the soles of your feet the more you walked.

But! All that aside, it was an amazing experience. You’d arrived, walked the carpet with him and his family, taken pictures, and it all went smoothly.

Pau was a bundle of jittery nerves, he couldn’t keep a smile off his face at all times, except for maybe when he asked how you were doing.

The whole night, he’d turned to you every ten to twenty minutes to ask, “are you alright?” or “are you having fun?” oh, and your favorite, “you’ll tell me if you need a break, right?”

Each time, you gave him a reassuring smile, and if you could, a quick squeeze of the hand. Pau would smile back, a hint of relief on his face every time. When he could, he would give you a quick peck. Whether that was on the lips, cheek, forehead, or just anywhere on your head and face in general.

When Lamine won an award, you glanced at Pau, your lips forming a pout at how adorable he looked. He held not jealousy or envy toward his friend, just adoration. Pau was always so proud of his teammates, and it was very clear in his expression just how proud he felt.

You wore the same expression the whole night, but it wasn’t just for all the other players, it was especially for Pau. Your boyfriend. Your stomach hurt with how proud you were of him and how far he had come. He was all you could focus on the whole night, in fact.

Leaning over, after the awards were over and everyone began to leave, you whisper in Pau’s ear. “I’m so proud of you.” He glanced down at you, his ears turning a light shade of maroon.

“I didn’t win anything?” He chuckles, standing up and lending you a hand.

You shrug, “that doesn’t mean anything. You still made it here, thats a big accomplishment. I’m proud of you, always.”

Using the grip he had on your hand, he pulls you closer to him. “Thank you.” He cheeses, leaning down to press a quick kiss to your lips, which you greet happily. “I love you.”

“Of course.” You hum against his lips. “And, I love you too.” You pull back with a grin, “now, i’m sure you have people to meander around and talk with, yeah?”

Pau sighs, tangling his fingers through yours. “Unfortunately, you are right.”

Exhibit A:

On September 1, 2022, Alexia tweeted in support of Irene Paredes when the RFEF essentially blamed her for the players' opposition to the federation. Alexia was injured at the time and wasn't even in camp or eligible for a call-up. She was the first to tweet, sparking the revolution against the RFEF.

Ironically, on September 23 of the same year, exactly one year ago, Alexia was the first to post the Las15 statement, stating that the players wanted a "firm commitment for a professional project" and expressing their unhappiness that private conversations with the federation were leaked.

Exhibit B:

You said, "she let her friends take the fall more than once so she could get a World Cup."

As I mentioned earlier, Alexia was injured and therefore ineligible for a call-up. So her statement and email were never considered valid.

Every statement has always been posted by her first because she has a large following. She has consistently spoken out loudly and clearly about the problems. She never let friends take any fall. More proof is attached below.

She went to the World Cup because she was fit and couldn't escape sanctions, in case you forgot about them. I'd like you to tell me how many players who came back from an ACL injury immediately played well, or maybe just give me some names.

She essentially surpassed her own record from the previous season when she won the Ballon d'Or. In short, she deserved it.

There's more to a player than just stats, especially for defenders. But the stats Alexia has as a midfielder are outstanding.

Finally, you said, "she's just trying to stay relevant." Sorry to say, but she doesn't have to say anything to stay relevant.

My thoughts on every single player today for Barça

Starting XI

Cata - needs to stop pissing about with the ball on the goal line it’s gonna backfire massively eventually. But to be fair she made a good few saves could’ve easily been more.

Frido - did fuck all really basically always passed backwards made a few nice passes to alexia but that’s it.

Mapi - fucking awful her and Ingrid as a CB partnership doesn’t work. They’re a great couple but a CB partnership not so much. Honestly baffled at how she managed to play a full 90’ that booking she got she was bloody lucky Ingrid was there or that was a red card.

Ingrid - was better of the CBs coped with Bummy relatively well. Personally feel she shouldn’t have been subbed off but hey ho im not the manager. She is as solid defender.

Ona - wasn’t great wasn’t awful honestly didn’t really notice her in the first half she did an awful throw in in the second half tho.

Keira - didn’t notice her at all in the entire game apart from that god awful shot she had near the end of the game.

Patri - worst player on the pitch for me. Can’t pass for shit especially forwards passing back to mapi she’s great at that but we aren’t playing fucking rugby. Honestly can’t believe she wasn’t taken off at half time abysmal.

Aitana - had an… okay game. Came alive towards the end of the game and made a good few chances could’ve had more chances if you know caro would fucking run but whatever. One of the better players of the starting XI.

Alexia - was fucking everywhere on that pitch can’t really complain at her today could’ve probably done more tho but so could everyone.

Ewa - best player that started ran her fucking socks off for unlucky a few times wasn’t she the one that hit the post? And then that shot that was cleared off the line by Laia. (We need her next season) kinda dwindled towards the end of the game but girlie was probably dead.

Caro - second worst after Patri. Literally did nothing had a few chances but blew them badly. So many passes that came her way and she just didn’t fucking run drove me up the wall. I’m a firm believer she should get that ballon dor but girl these performances she’s been putting out this season aren’t it. Please please become 23/24 CGH again xoxo.

Pina - brought that spark to the attack that we were seriously lacking but bringing Ingrid off for her was a lil weird. But easily POTM for me tonight changed that game attacking wise a tone and should’ve started.

Esmee - another player I firmly believe should’ve been brought on at half time. Came on in that LB role she’s been playing all season and calmed that area of the pitch down. She’s gonna be immense this season.

Irene - should’ve A. Started. B. Come on at half time or C. Come on with Pina. She’s a brick wall we need her in defence she needs to be the starting CB especially in big games like that with players like bunny shaw against us. We needed her today played well for what the 10 minutes she was on the pitch??

Vicky - I love her I really do. Spent more time doing caros job when she came on this girl is gonna win a ballon dor. Again brought a spark that we so desperately craved but unfortunately was just too late.

Kika - a bit like Vicky but more bitey again could’ve done with been given more time and not have been brought on when we were 2-0 down in the 86th minutes does that man expect these kids to work wonders or something???

is interesting a code word for a little bit unhealthy and toxic? I don't think that's the case but some fans do, probably because of her personality in general. she is very introverted and always keeps her emotions to herself, especially the negative ones. after the Ballon Dor she was put into a spotlight and that did a number on her, Turin being the breaking point and it was followed by ACL that probably changed her life.

It's definitely unhealthy, her winner mentality just doesn't do her good when she can't play but I also think that during her time unable to play she had to force herself to appreciate the other things in life. I kind of think that she's gotten better at not internalizing everything with some people, and this reinjury (+ last year) took such a toll on her but I also believe that het support system is very good.

Dude the anon who said that christen fans were being dramatic has a point. Tbh i really think she deserves a call up but (in a not political reason) i still see reasons why she wasnt called up. Im a winger, and i love christen so i do watch her and all other winger/forwards i like from the pl, ucl, wsl, uwcl. I feel like Sam isn’t going to with Ballon dor or Fifa. Alexia Putellas is attending the awards which makes me think she’ll win. I think Alexia is also deserving to win it this year. But at the same time I genuinely wonder what they want Sam to do to earn an individual award. Sometime your team doesn’t win gold but that doesn’t mean she’s not the best player on the field.
