Taste the Luxury of Hamburg
Hamburg is the second largest city after Berlin and 7th largest city in the European Union, with a population of over 1.84 million. It's surrounded by Schleswig Holstein and Lower Saxony. With over 40 theatres, 60 museums and 100 venues and clubs. Hamburg got their name from the first building on the site, a castle that belonged to the royal family. The name Burg means “castle or fort”.
The museum “ Kunsthalle is the largest . museum in Germany, founded in 1850 and which permanently collects art from north German, Flemish, and Italian artists to French and German paintings and drawings. Therefore Hamburg is one of most popular places to visit for concerts, exhibitions, theatres, cinemas, museums, cultural events, shopping, outstanding restaurants and architectural scenes. Almost everything happens on or near the Water, because it lies on the River Elbe and two of tributaries, the River Alster and The River Bille.
It is important to find a pleasant and comfortable place to stay for enjoying the luxury of the city.
If you are definitely an adventurous person who enjoys quality hotels and fine dining, including culture and the waterfront just next door, then the Fontenay is one of the best hotels known for their luxurious, modern designs and perfect location by the Alster and the city architecture. A five-star hotel which gives you the full taste of Hamburg city views all around you.
This hotel includes everything like spas, fitness and cycling, restaurants, and bars. For events are functions or weddings rooms available. Immersed in green nature and meeting suites is a hot spot, especially for business trips, which includes the meeting rooms up to 10 people for interviews and business parties. The hotel offers breakfast and coffee. All suites are all different according to your taste and your budget. The Fontenay has over 131 guest rooms and suites, some with Alster view.
Due to covid, there are current restrictions and general rules, which the public and the employees would have to follow. This includes already the general rules like washing your hands and standing 1meter apart from each other. Using hand sanitizer before entering any restaurants or front desk or dining halls.
Gym, pool, spas, sauna and steam facilities can be used safely with certain restrictions such as a maximum of people allowed to to endure physical distancing. And Fabric masks policies required by local or national regulations. Single towel use only with bins for the guests to place their used towels after and individual drinking water.
Overall Hamburg offers a large selection for culture, history and art. It's a good place to visit for every age group. You can't get bored in this city, because there is always something going on or something to see. Especially for couples or family, it's a perfect place to relax or spend time together.

Hamburg touts MICE credentials as Elbphilharmonie philharmonic opens
The opening of the new Elbphilharmonie philharmonic hall marks the start of a momentous year for Hamburg and a significant boost in the meeting and event offering in Germany’s second city.
The Elbphilharmonie philharmonic hall officially opened earlier and is designed as a ‘rolling wave’ in homage to Hamburg’s world-famous harbour.
This innovative venue on the edge of the River Elbe is set to provide a truly unique meeting venue for planners and delegates.
The Elbphilharmonie, already an iconic feature of Hamburg’s skyline, is also home to a 244 room five-Star Westin Hotel offering meeting space including eight conference rooms as well as a panoramic view of the city and harbour.
The hotel opened in November last year and has already experienced huge demand as Dagmar Zechmann, general manager of the Westin Hamburg, explained: “The response since our opening last year has been fantastic and demand from international and national visitors is high.
“We received bookings for our 205 rooms and 39 suites months in advance and the numbers of events hosted at our hotel has really exceeded expectations with great feedback from event planners.
“Our location positions us as the ideal destination for meetings and events and for those looking for a room with a view.
“We are proud to be part of Hamburg’s new and renowned landmark and are looking confidently into the future.”
Other hotels are set to launch in Hamburg this year including the Fontenay, offering breath-taking views of the city’s famous Alster Lake.
Located in its own private park in the city, the hotel’s conference facilities are across four rooms equipped with the latest in audio and visual technology.
Designed by Hamburg-born star architect Jan Störmer, the hotel has a modern and innovative sculptural design featuring 131 rooms and suites.
Part of the Design Hotels portfolio, Sir Nikolai Hotel is a 19th-century mansion is set to ‘bring a new kind of cool to Hamburg’.
It is situated between Altstadt (Old Town), the city’s cultural nucleus, and Speicherstadt to the south, Hamburg’s historical quarter and UNESCO World Heritage site.
Florian Gerdes, marketing manager, conventions, at Hamburg Convention Bureau, summed up: “The opening of the Elbphilharmonie marks the start of a momentous year for Hamburg.
“The iconic venue is a real jewel in the city’s conference and meeting crown and forms part of a wider new offering for planners.
“From major five and four star names through to quirky boutique hotels, there is a huge choice of top notch accommodation and meeting spaces launching in key locations throughout the city including near the airport, Congress Centre Hamburg and the iconic River Elbe.”

YAY, only a handful of days left until Forgotten Mountain 2! It's time to release the location and directions!!!!
DIRECTIONS pt.1! _____________________ DESTINATION COORDINATES 46° 9'42.27"N 121°37'54.63"W _____________________ _____________________ EASY DIRECTIONS [Seattle/Portland/Etc.] $2.00 toll bridge _____________________ [From Seattle] Get on I-5 South to Portland Stay on I-5 for about 155 miles
Exit right onto I-205 South to Salem/NE 134th St Continue for 15 miles [entering Oregon]
Use the right 2 lanes to exit onto I-84E/US-30E towards The Dalles Continue on I-84E for 55 miles
[Portlanders can head straight to I-84E :)]
Take exit 64 for Mt. Hood HWY towards or-35/White Salmon, cross Hood River bridge [toll is only 2 dollars]
Take a left at WA-14 W / Lewis and Clark HWY 1.5 miles
Then a right onto HWY 141 N 2.2 miles
Continue on 141 N 18.5 miles
Merge right onto NF-23 towards Cougar/ Mount Adams RD Follow NF-23 for 13.6 miles
The map point/gate entrance will be on the left, at the head of NF-8810, only 4 miles from the site. It crosses with the Pacific Crest Trail. Look for the wizard on the first day ;) There will be paper directions distributed at the site as well as a password provided to unlock the digital version. The password will be somewhere permanent at the site in case you arrive at an odd time and no one is manning the gate entrance.
_________________________________ 4X4 RDY / MORE FUN DIRECTIONS
[From Seattle] Head south on I-5 towards Tacoma
Take exit 133 for WA-7S, stay left on the exit at first [follow signs for WA-7], then after the first interchange stay right and continue to look for signs for WA-7/Mt. Rainier
Exit right onto 38th St W 0.2 miles
Then left onto WA-7 S/Pacific Ave 9.6 miles
Slight left to stay on WA-7 / Mountain Hwy E / Pacific Ave S - Destination: Morton, Wa Stay on 7 for 30.6 miles
Take a right in Elbe to Stay on WA-7 / Covered Bridge crossing! Make sure you take the bridge route. Continue on Wa-7 for another 20 miles until you reach Morton, Wa.
[Gas up in Morton!! WA-7 goes right through the middle of town]
Turn left onto US-12 E to Yakima / White pass Follow US-12 for 16.8 miles
Turn right onto Wa-131 S/ signs for Mt. St. Helen's (bridge crossing almost IDENTICAL TO THE FIRST) 1.0 miles
Slight left onto Cispus Rd! This comes up quick so be prepared..
Cispus becomes NF-23 Continue for about 30 miles (these roads can be pretty terrible even when paved, take your time)
Around mile 23, you'll hit gravel which will continue for another 10 miles, hence the need for a 4x4 vehicle. To be fair though, we have gone this way with mostly only sedans so its POSSIBLE to do in a normal car.. just risky.
Around 30 miles down, there will be a clear split in the road that is not very clearly marked as to which roads are which, you will need to turn left there to stay on 23.
3 miles from there you will reach another large turn just after the pavement returns, turn left here to stay on 23, follow signs for Trout Lake, WA
Follow the paved part of NF-23 for 6.7 miles
The map point/gate entrance will be on the right, at the head of NF-8810, only 4 miles from the site. It crosses with the pacific crest trail. Look for the wizard on the first day until 10pm! There will be paper directions distributed at the site as well as a password provided to get the digital version. The password will be somewhere permanent at the site in case you arrive at an odd time and no one is manning the gate entrance.
___________________________
For the safety of the site and party goers we are going to be having a "gate entrance" (similar to a map point) some way down the road from the actual site.
The rest of the directions will be provided at the site in 2 potential forms.
One is to get them on paper from the person manning the gate!! The first day [August 16th] the gate person will be our good wizard friend, until 10 pm!!
The 2nd is to download the PASSWORD PROTECTED zip file below and enter the password that you will find located at the map point. This will open an image with a map and written directions from the gate to the site. THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO MAY ARRIVE WHEN THERE IS NO ONE THERE TO DISTRIBUTE MAPS. IT'S BEST TO HAVE BOTH OPTIONS IF YOU CAN.
Suggested program for opening zip files on Apple Platforms:
Zip & RAR File Extractor
Suggested program for opening zip files on Android platforms: RAR
Password Protected Zip File for part 2 of the directions:
Dropbox
or
TinyUpload
**[DOWNLOAD AND TEST THE ZIP FILE WITH AN EXTRACTION PROGRAM BEFORE THE EVENT! EVEN THOUGH YOU CANNOT ENTER THE PASSWORD. YOU WILL NOT HAVE INTERNET AT THE SITE AND WILL NEED TO HAVE EVERYTHING READY IN ADVANCE. AGAIN THIS IS A SAFETY PROTOCOL FOR PEOPLE WHO ARRIVE WHEN THE MAP POINT IS UNMANNED. THIS IS SO YOU CAN STILL GET THE REST OF THE DIRECTIONS]**
