Never Ending Story!
This is the story of a very brave little pony called Faith who came to Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre (EHCRC) in 2010. Well actually it's about three little ponies and a dolphin! So let's start with hurricane Katrina, yes you read right, in 2005 in the aftermath of this devastating disaster in America many animals were left abandoned or lost in the chaos of the floods and the mass evacuation. An incredible couple Kaye and Glenn Harris stayed and decided to open their doors to whatever animal needed help. You have to picture the scene with the floods, the infected waters with excrement everywhere, the break ins and violent attacks that followed, the army patrolling the streets with helicopters flying overhead shooting at looters, it was an incredibly dangerous time but that didn't stop this couple. They did everything possible to get as many animals as they could to high ground and to safety. They broke into houses to free distressed animals and into pet shops to get food for them! They saved cats, dogs, birds, the list goes on and Molly the pony was one of them. Molly had been left in a barn, a tree had fallen through and fortunately this helped her survive as she was able to scramble up it until she could be rescued. Then in the ensuing chaos Molly got attacked by a dog and had to have her leg amputated. This couple was determined to do everything to help this little pony who had already been through so much. They found the surgeon Rustin Moore and the Louisiana University Hospital but had to do much convincing to get them to agree to operate. Then they found Dwayne Mara who made prosthetic limbs for people and convinced him to design and make Molly’s new limb. Molly found her feet so to speak and immediately adapted to her new leg. She went on to live a full life and only recently passed away. Molly became a real celebrity as a symbol of survival, she travelled the country, instilling hope in those less fortunate and was featured in a book and the media far and wide. Now this is where Faith comes in. It was in the summer of 2010 that Faith was found in a dusty yard beside a Spanish farmhouse. One of her injuries was a wide red gash cut deep across her lower right foreleg, evidence that she had remained cruelly ensnared for days in a rope used to tie her to a tree.  The rope had wound so tightly around Faith’s leg that blood ceased to circulate, causing deep  lacerations  and distressingly as Dorothea started to clean up the wound the flesh literally fell off her leg, totally exposing the bone structure.. Once safe at EHCRC, Rod and Sue Weeding Co-founders, with their vet Dorothea Dudli von Dewitz got to work on dealing with all Faith’s health  issues.  A plaster cast was the best choice for protection and support. The inimitable Dorothea came to the Centre daily for months to attend to Faith and with the Weedings, would remove her plaster cast, inspect the leg, inject antibiotics, clean the wound, bandage it up, apply another plaster cast and dry it with a hairdryer…it went on and on, day after day but to no avail. It was then decided to try something new, stem cell treatment, an experimental homemade stem-cell treatment Dorothea prepared herself! Twice a week she would draw a little of Faith’s blood, take it home, spin out the stem cells in a centrifugal machine, extract the healing cells and create an ointment to dress the wound. Although it was in the early days of this type of treatment as always Rod and Sue wanted to try any measure to help Faith. It appeared that the treatment was working initially but sadly the extent of the damage was too severe. So now the options for saving her leg were running out and it looked like amputation would be necessary. [caption id="attachment_29560" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Never Ending Story![/caption] On finding that amputations on horses were unheard of in Spain the Weedings immediately searched for a solution. They thought of the world famous Spanish surgeon Gaspar Castelijins  from the Equihealth Clinic near Barcelona who they had previously worked with on the case of Princess. Gaspar had said if they ever needed his help in the future not to hesitate to call. So that is exactly what they did. Gaspar and the veterinary team would only operate if they felt Faith was mentally and psychologically ready for such a major operation. But after surviving the desperate situation in which she had been found, it was clear that Faith was a fighter, she knew how to look after herself. So Gaspar in Spain liaised with  fellow surgeon Rustin Moore in the USA. They tried yet another technique but ultimately amputation was the only option. Bear in mind if equine amputations were unheard of then it goes without saying that there were no prosthetic limb manufacturers in Spain either! Believe it or not, after she came round following the operation Faith valiantly walked out of that operating theatre on her new leg, designed and made by Gaspars business partner Claudio, a very basic artificial leg made with fiberglass and Velcro and leg components from kitchen cupboards! Although these limbs functioned they weren’t lasting very long so the Weedings decided to head to America to meet Molly, the couple who’d saved her and the incredible and creative prosthetic designer who had given Molly another chance at life just like they wanted to do for Faith. So after many meetings, discussions, phone calls, measurements etc. Dwayne made Faith her new leg, well at least a temporary one. Then over time he made her 5 in total. Faith adapted so well to her new limb that a new high tech flexible version was made however she did not take to this and so they reverted back to the original version and she did incredibly well. However the team noticed that she needed a more robust liner as a padding to protect her stump from rubbing. Yes, now this is where the dolphin comes in. Winter the dolphin, who lived in Florida had a prosthetic tail fitted in 2011. Due to an allergic reaction they had to get creative again and developed a special liner for Winter’s prosthesis. A book and film including sequel followed, starring people like Morgan Freeman. Back to our story…having heard about this fascinating story of Winter the dolphin in the States, yes, you guessed it the Weedings were on the case again and secured the same liner for Faith in order to give her protection and padding for a more comfortable fit. And it worked perfectly. However, although EHCRC did everything they could to give her the best care possible which was around the clock it was felt that it would be better to fund her to go to live with Gaspar in Barcelona. She loved it there where she had companionship, mobility and lived pain-free in five-star accommodation it also meant she wouldn’t have to struggle so much with the very high temperatures on the Costa Blanca. However, Faith’s other leg was obviously taking a lot of the weight and deteriorating, and having suffered from laminitis previously there was a real worry about how to help. When it gets to the stage that a disabled animal is struggling and you can’t make it better, it’s time to let go. It wasn’t a decision taken lightly but obviously no one was prepared to see Faith suffer. On October 29, 2015, on the advice of the specialist veterinarians, the heartbreaking decision to have Faith put to sleep Finally, here’s where Iris comes in. In December, 2015, Faith's prosthesis was sent to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Lyon, in France where veterinarian Michael Schramme began fitting it for Iris, a 10-year-old pony. Iris had been diagnosed with a malignant tumour in her foot and, like Faith, amputation was the only chance of saving her. Iris’s leg was amputated in November 2015. At first, Iris, too, walked atop a very basic artificial leg made from two pieces of PVC drainage pipe joined together. When Iris’s owner contacted EHCRC, they knew they had to help, and immediately donated Faith’s professionally made prostheses. Rod and Sue Weeding said:”We are so happy that Faith’s prosthetic legs are helping another little pony and that she and Molly have inspired other surgeons to continue this work to help others out there. We believe that every animal that comes to us, because of the pain and suffering they’ve endured, deserves a second chance at life. That's why we decided to fight for Faith's life. We gave Faith a good five years, which she deserved. She had the best and she inspired so many people worldwide. Faith truly has changed all of us and she is deeply missed.” A huge thanks to everyone who supported Faith over the years. The donations, support and love for this little pony helped EHCRC through many tough times. Faith is often the topic of conversation and especially on the Open Days with visitors and so it was decided to share this story of these amazing animals and the people who rallied around worldwide to do their very best to help each and every one of them. These Rescued Horses Just Fell In Love After Spending Their Lives All Alone
The beginning of happiness for a horse now named Diplomat came when someone spotted him tied up in a field in 2015.   “Called out by San Javier police, we arrived at the scene to find a skeletal and wild stallion tied inside a small yard,” Koren Helbig, media manager with  Easy Horse Care Rescue Center  (EHCRC), a nonprofit in Spain that works to save neglected and abused horses and donkeys,  wrote . “Under the guard of four armed officers, and with an ambulance on standby in case of violence from Diplomat’s owners, we cut our way into his yard and set him free.”            Credit:        Easy Horse Care Rescue Center Not only did Diplomat have health problems because of the neglect he suffered, he also was disoriented, temperamental and even dangerous.  “Diplomat was very malnourished and full of worms, and he drags one of his hind legs a little, meaning he will never be 100 percent sound,” Helbig wrote. “He was also a big and strong stallion who had very likely never received any proper training. He was uncontrollable, a real handful who would rear if we tried to lead him past another horse.”            Credit:        EHCRC The rescue center decided to neuter the stallion to help him calm down. But even so, he became territorial with the first friend the rescue center tried to pair him with. “We decided to try putting him with Conker, a naughty little pony who was living with some of our older horses and chasing them around a bit too much,” Helbig wrote. “It all started very well, but pretty soon they were acting like macho men, each trying to be the boss of the field.”            Credit:        EHCRC Rescuers couldn’t let Diplomat live a life of solitude. “Equines are herd animals,” Helbig wrote. “So ensuring they have the company of a companion is hugely important to their mental well-being.”  Luckily, there was someone else at the rescue center who would change Diplomat’s life.            Credit:        EHCRC Goldie came to the rescue center in 2014 after being severely malnourished and neglected. According to EHCRC, Goldie was kept in a small enclosure all alone for years.   Since her rescue, Goldie thrived. And there was just something about her that seemed to attract Diplomat — maybe it was her smile.            Credit:        EHCRC “In early 2017, we decided to try opening up Diplomat’s gate to let him mingle with the group of mares (Bella, Goldie, Mystery and Nakita) he had been neighbors with for about a year,” Helbig wrote. “Incredibly, within just a few short weeks, handsome Diplomat landed a girlfriend.”  Because he’d spent his life alone, Diplomat had a lot of difficulty socializing with other horses and he didn’t like to share. But with Goldie it was different.             Credit:        EHCRC           Credit:        EHCRC “They’re a complete item now, they eat together, nap together and groom each other,” EHCRC  wrote on Facebook .            Credit:        EHCRC           Credit:        EHCRC Something about Goldie helped Diplomat become totally relaxed. And he seemed to have the same impact on her.  “What an absolutely wonderful sight — Diplomat laying flat out in the field with his new girlfriend Goldie,” the rescue center  wrote  after seeing the couple lounging in a field together recently. “I’ve never seen Diplomat relaxed enough to lay flat out like this before. It really is just lovely.”            Credit:        EHCRC

Landmark Occasion in Animal Welfare
Rojales Council have just confirmed that they have given €6,000 to Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre. On top of this they are committed to enforcing current laws and changing policy for a better future in animal welfare. Most people don’t realise that the Centre receives absolutely no funding what so ever. Since coming to power the current Council have been staunch supporters of the Rescue Centre. They recognise the invaluable resource that is the Centre and have negotiated and continue to do so with the Valencian Government to encourage changes in animal welfare. Not just the issue of funding but changes to the laws on animal welfare too. They are committed to making this a yearly contribution with the added plan of working with other Councils to encourage them to do the same. Sue Weeding, Co-Founder said, “This is a truly inspirational act on the part of Rojales Council. The Mayor Antonio Perez Garcia and his delegates have been constant supporters and regular visitors to the Centre. We are incredibly grateful for these resources but also the commitment to encourage other Councils to do the same. We have taken in many animals not just from the local councils and Police in our area but from the north of Valencia to as far south as Granada in Andalucia. This commitment by Rojales Council is just the forward thinking approach needed to progress animal welfare in Spain.” The Council realise the huge service that EHCRC provides to the community, who now work mainly with the Police and Guardia Civil to offer advice and rescue of the most at risk, abused or neglected equines on a 24/7 basis. Spokes person on behalf of the Mayor, Deputy Mayoress and all the delegates for the Council said, “The Town Hall of Rojales supports and appreciates the labour of the Foundation Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre  for the work that is done and the great effort that is made in the care of horses, donkeys, ponies and other animals that have been abused or abandoned. Without this commitment and solidarity from Susan and Rod, these animals would have to face a far worse destiny. Unfortunately, as public administrations we have serious difficulties in directly dealing with these issues. From our Town Hall we want to show our commitment to the Foundation, providing assistance and collaboration as much as possible, and we are very aware of the mistreatment and abandonment of animals, which unfortunately remains so present in our society. The Police want to remind everyone that abandonment and animal abuse are criminal offences in the Spanish penal code which can carry financial or prison sentences. We have trained police on our staff dedicated to the investigation of this type of crime, and we organize public talks and courses, which explain the issues on animal abandonment and abuse, and above all to raise awareness among people.” For more information on the rescue centre go to their website www.easyhorsecare.net Or visit the Rescue Centre on their open day the first Sunday of every month 1 till 4 pm.

Another week, another rescue!
Who just leaves their horse tied up to a palm tree on the side of the road? We’ll never know because this latest rescue has no microchip or any other forms of identification. The Policia Local in Albatera got in contact with Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre (EHCRC) on the advice of Seprona from a neighbouring town. This is so reassuring as there is a growing interest amongst the authorities regarding animal welfare and the Rescue Centre is seeing more and more cases of Law Inforcement being willing to act to save an animal knowing there is somewhere safe for them to be. Two young Police Officers met Rod Weeding, Co-Founder, at the Albatera police station to  complete the necessary paperwork for  her to be transported legally to the safety of the Rescue Centre. Then they took him to the location and with their assistance and that of several other helpful bystanders they eventually loaded her into the horse box. [caption id="attachment_29073" align="aligncenter" width="1000"] Another week, another rescue![/caption] Rod said : ‘It was quite a struggle trying to coax and encourage her with bits of grass and treats to get into the trailer. There were 2 elderly guys and 2 young girls who helped and there were several others bystanders who were interested in what was happening. But it still took over an hour to finally get her into the trailer.’ The Police were fantastic. This stunning mare now called Megan is about 3 years old. She has been seen by the vet Dorothea and at least she is not in foal as that was a preoccupation. Foals are seriously cute but with nearly 120 horses, ponies and donkeys already at EHCRC they really didn’t need any more! Megan is settling into her new surroundings but it is becoming increasingly clear that she has suffered some traumatic experience or most likely been locked away as she appears to be ‘agorophobic’. Megan seems quite settled and at home in her stable, with her little neighbours, the recently rescued pony mum and baby mule but as soon as she gets out into the open she just appears to totally panic. She is generally terrified of the horses but seems to cope better with the donkeys and miniatures. She just cannot cope with being let off to run free. On her first day out she just bolted and galloped blindly around the fields sending fences flying everywhere. On the next couple of outings it became clear that she did not know how to behave when in the open air. So with regular short walks throughout the day out into the fields, building her confidence with time and patience, is the best way forward. This is not a problem for the Centre as Co-Founder Sue Weeding said : ’Time is not an issue, whatever Megan needs Megan will get. Right now we are most concerned with her psychological wellbeing and helping her adapt to a new confident way of living, slowly and patiently is our goal’ EHCRC are Megan’s custodians now and they will do whatever it takes to build this beautiful girls confidence and help her to have a happy healthy life. EHCRC are a non-profit organization with no governmental funding. It’s thanks to Sue and Rod Weeding and the generosity of all the donators and volunteers that this invaluable service continues. If you would like to become a supporter then check out the website www.easyhorsecare.net for all information about donating financially or donating articles such as good quality furniture for the Charity Shops and you’ll find information too on their Open Days on the first Sunday of the month and much much more.

Shocking Rescue at Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre – Follow up!
Following the recent story of the tiny little pony, mum and her son, a mule, not even a year old, the Centre are delighted to say that both equines have had a number of positive results from tests, scans and x-rays done so far. Sue Weeding-Co-Founder-said “It’s not often we get good results on tests on abandoned or abused animals but mum has been x-rayed and although the x-rays show some movement in the pedal bones in the hooves, it’s nothing that will cause permanent damage and better still she has no internal infections so the long term prognosis for her is exceptionally good.” [caption id="attachment_28763" align="aligncenter" width="768"] Mother and son hoof trimming[/caption] Then with the collaboration of Enrique, their farrier, and Dorothea, their vet, they went on to trim the overgrown hooves which had to be cut by starting with a saw and then with Dorothea’s instruction Enrique was able to shape the feet to ensure the right angle and as you can see from the photos she is looking so much better. She will be on pain killers for some time to keep her comfortable until she gets used to the new position of her hooves and for her tendons to adapt. Dorothea then performed the long awaited ultrasound to see if she was in foal and yet again good news she is not in foal! One less problem to deal with. Enrique then tackled her son’s feet which he is sure he was having trimmed for the first time. And he is looking absolutely super too. They suspect it is the first time mum has had her feet trimmed and if mum and baby had remained with their previous owner, this little mule would have ended up in the same appalling state as his mum. Sue, beaming, said “Both are doing marvelously well, they are free of infestation, they have been wormed, their feet are being sorted, they are gaining weight and settling down beautifully. We gave them some freedom today for the first time and they loved it. Baby was prancing around like a spring lamb! What more could we ask for, they are coming along a treat, we are so happy.” EHCRC would like to thank everyone out there who has been following the story and also those who have been donating. They now need to think of suitable names for this adorable little family. The Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre, located just outside Rojales at Partido Lo Garriga, 59, opens to the public on the first Sunday of every month between 1pm and 4pm. Free horse tours run throughout the afternoon and refreshments are available from Charity’s tea room. For more details and directions, please visit www.easyhorsecare.net

Latest shocking rescue at Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
On the night of 6th March EHCRC received a frantic phone call from the Police in Almoradí: two equines were running wild around the roads, they reported, and they needed help. As always, EHCRC responded immediately. What they found they believe is a little family - mum, a 9 year old tiny little pony and her son, a mule less than a year old. Their vet is concerned that she could also be in foal. Both equines are absolutely terrified and have been appallingly treated. The pony’s hooves are in a dreadful state which has got to be causing incredible pain never mind the long term complications for her health but x-rays will determine the extent of the damage. Once done the farrier and vet will be able to decide on the best way forward. She also has painfully sore skin caused by a parasite infestation, she is terribly malnourished, and has sores on her face from a badly fitting head collar. The young mule has had half of his coat cut or shaved off which has left lacerations all over his young little body. He also has scarring on his nose from an ill-fitting head collar. They are inseparable and any attempts to divide them is fruitless. So once they are a little more settled and stabilised these little souls will have further tests, investigations, etc to ascertain their ongoing treatment and care. Sue Weeding ‒ EHCRC Co-founder ‒ said: “The Police as always were very thankful for our help and we would like to extend our thanks to them. Our relationship with the Police, Guardia Civil and local Authorities is increasingly improving as animal welfare becomes more of a priority for those concerned. The Police know we will do everything possible for an equine in need.” Without the services of EHCRC these types of rescue would just not be possible and the Police would not have anywhere to take them. But it comes at a price: currently the basic running expenses for the 120 equines at the Centre are €5,000 per week and that does not include the extras like when an animal needs intensive veterinary treatment, hospitalisation or when fodder needs to be bought in bulk as and when it is available. The outstanding bills at the moment come to a whopping €15,000 on top of the €5,000 per week. Now with two more in need of a lot of care and probably costly ongoing treatment, EHCRC can only keep going with the support of the public. “We already have a fantastic following of supporters and an incredible group of volunteers who help us make all this possible but we need more assistance from more people,” Sue Weeding said. If you can help in any way like donating good quality furniture or donating financially, it would make a huge difference to these animals, every little helps and especially at this time with so many extra expenses. Please get in touch by phoning 652 02 19 80, by emailing [email protected] or our web page www.easyhorsecare.net. – Written by Diane O'Neill.

Friends Forever!
In the animal kingdom, really? Do animals make friends and have long standing relationships? Well Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre (EHCRC) is convinced it's so. There are so many incredible stories of animal friendships at the Centre that are truly wonderful for the soul to see and experience. Here is one such sweet story of companionship, although the end is ultimately incredibly sad as EHCRC suffered a double loss in less than a fortnight, this story of true friendship is to honour the two animals in question.
[caption id="attachment_26858" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Della day after her rescue with farriers[/caption]
It's the story of two inseparable elderly ladies, two donkeys that is, Della and Little Lady. Sadly Lady died on 11 January having suddenly deteriorated and Della went downhill immediately after and despite all possible veterinary intervention and 24 hour care, less than 2 weeks after the passing of Lady, the painful decision to put Della to sleep had to be taken. Sue Weeding, Co-founder, said “we are devastated by the sudden loss of Lady and Della.” Just two weeks ago Lady suddenly started to show some odd behaviour. Their vet Dorothea came immediately. It appeared to be a neurological problem and despite doing everything possible they were unable to save her and she passed away during the night in her sleep with her constant companion Della by her side. However the heartache didn't end there as almost immediately Della really started to struggle after she lost her faithful companion. Literally the moment Lady passed, they noticed Della deteriorate, she stopped eating and drinking and then one morning she just couldn't get up, her existing health issues flared up suddenly.
[caption id="attachment_26860" align="aligncenter" width="1632"] Little Lady day she was rescued[/caption]
Della was such a fighter and survivor that EHCRC wanted to do everything possible for her. Sue explained, "Everyone rallied around to do absolutely everything for this wonderful donkey, Dorothea our vet came out to see her daily to give pain killing injections including morphine patches to ensure she was not in pain while we tried to treat her laminitis and hyperlipemia.
Enrique our farrier (who was on holiday) and his team actually came out at night to check out her feet and make new supportive shoes for her as the vet thought this would give her some extra relief and as she hadn't been eating the vet also recommended we get her some fresh cut alfalfa and even the alfalfa suppliers, Jose and his father, came straight round when they heard what she needed." Sue and Rod Weeding kept vigil over her day and night ensuring she had the best of everything. But devastatingly Della just couldn’t recover and the painful decision had to be made to put her to sleep. Both Della and Lady had suffered terribly before their arrivals at the Centre, their stories at EHCRC begin over 5 years ago when Lady was first rescued and then Della a year and a half later. Lady was rescued in July 2013. She was among five donkeys and a number of dogs rescued from the rundown property of a hoarder who’d died alone. Kept in appalling conditions, she was incredibly thin, with horrendously overgrown hooves and afflicted with severe laminitis caused by years of neglect. Then in February 2015 Della was rescued with the help of Seprona, the Animal Welfare branch of the Guardia Civil. She had been kept in a dilapidated old shed, on a very small piece of land hardly able to move, knee deep in faeces,  surrounded by broken bits of cars and machinery.
Suffering from a variety of injuries and illnesses, including a piece of metal in her knee, Seprona were so incensed by the diabolical situation in which Della was being kept that they arrested the perpetrator and ultimately prosecuted him. Della was a real loner as it was understood she had been kept isolated, never allowed to mix with others and at EHCRC she never really took to any of her own kind except of course for lovely Lady. One morning instead of going outside Lady decided to go to Dellas stable. She waited until the door was opened for cleaning and burst in to introduce herself and that was it. Over their years together these two wonderful elderly ladies, both in their 30s, have had total freedom to potter around the Centre, meeting and greeting visitors, checking out new arrivals as they so wished but always happy to be by each others side and to settle down every night in their shared stable. It was thought that Lady was the little weak one but actually she was the one who probably kept Della going. Every morning Lady would be demanding for their stable to be opened and she was the one who used to lead the way out into the fields for a wander or to munch on some hay. EHCRC is convinced that Della was a lost soul without Lady and her inexplicable sudden deterioration can only be put down to a broken heart. Sue said “what occurred between these two rescued donkeys in their time with us is what makes it all worthwhile for us here at EHCRC. We have seen time and time again the tight connection and bond between animals.” Call it what you like but this really is a true expression of friends forever!

Incredible kindness in memory of Kisses. has been published at http://www.theleader.info/2019/01/06/incredible-kindness-in-memory-of-kisses/
New Post has been published on http://www.theleader.info/2019/01/06/incredible-kindness-in-memory-of-kisses/
Incredible kindness in memory of Kisses.
Kisses the baby donkey who was rescued by Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre (EHCRC) recently, having been found tied up in a bag but who sadly couldn't be saved, stirred the hearts of hundreds and thousands! There was such an out pouring of grief, particularly on social media, over the brutal mistreatment and ultimate loss but also anger towards the inhumane treatment this poor little creature suffered at the hands of an inhumane human being. The messages flooded in from across the globe but none so much as from the Spanish people here in Spain. The Spanish nation are often criticized for some of their traditions involving animals but there is a very active movement of young and old alike who are vehemently against any kind of animal cruelty for any reason.  Many of these people kindly donated money which enabled the Centre to pay for the costly hospital bill for Kisses. EHCRC's monthly Open Days are now testament to the increasing interest in their work and the thirst for knowledge on how everyone can work together to advance animal welfare in Spain. The free Open Days are jam packed with multinational supporters who come to join in the activities by taking part in one of the guided Tours which are available in Spanish, English, Russian and French and participating in the raffle and enjoying a vegetarian lunch. All proceeds go directly towards the animals' care. Sue Weeding co-founder said: 'We are so grateful to all our supporters and we could not continue to care for our current 123 rescues or develop our services for the future if it wasn't for the public's support, donations and fundraising. Rod and I will not be here forever and we need to ensure that the Foundation is well established to continue our work.' One example of outstanding support comes from Louise and her team at Looking Good Boutique in La Zenia. They have been staunch supporters of EHCRC for many years but following the horrendous story of Kisses they have taken up the challenge of doing some serious fundraising. [caption id="attachment_25998" align="aligncenter" width="1200"] Incredible kindness in memory of Kisses.[/caption] Not only have they installed a very special rail of designer clothing donated by their loyal customers with all or a percentage of the sales going to EHCRC but they have also held fashion shows and have had some incredible donations for example a brand new smart phone, designer outfits straight from the Joseph Ribkoff company and incredible donations of money with one particular customer donating €1,000! Congratulations to Looking Good Boutique and their amazing customers-keep up the good work! There are so many other ways for people to show support and just one of the most useful is for people to donate their unwanted furniture to the Charity Shops as this is a valuable source of financial aid for EHCRC. Finally Sue said: 'Sadly the story of Kisses is not an isolated case. We have had many situations of a similar nature where the poor animals had been abused and left to suffer and die in solitary, lonely, off the beaten track places where the perpetrators of these horrendous acts of cruelty hoped their deeds would never be seen. We are sure there are many more unknown cases and we are determined to work closely with the Police and the local authorities striving to grow the organization to build a better future for all animals.' The non-profit Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre relies entirely on donations to fund its important animal welfare work. Those interested in volunteering at the rescue centre or in the charity shops can call Sue on 652 021 980. The Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre, located just outside Rojales at Partido Lo Garriga, 59, opens to the public on the first Sunday of every month between 1pm and 4pm. Free horse tours run throughout the afternoon and refreshments are available in the café. For more details and directions, please visit www.easyhorsecare.net
