Mi contacto con Ecuador ha sido a través de mi cuñado, ecuatoriano de Quito, victima del COVID, siendo mi única hermana y yo dominicanos, se conocieron en la gran urbe de la cuidad de Nueva York. Fruto de ese matrimonio de mi hermana nacieron sobrino y sobrina gringos. El carácter de la familia Ecuatoriana que conocí de mi cuñado es lenta y apacible, de pocas palabras, pero firme. Quise buscar la imagen que yo tenía de los ecuatorianos con la representada en la película. Bueno, recomiendo ver la película y leer el libro basado en la obra de Entre Marx y una mujer desnuda del ecuatoriano Jorge Enrique Adoum.

So she is raised by Shaibel more or less, like two or three hours at a time and nothing too dangerous even by Gallifrey standards because she's nine, but always coming back in time for lessons. Then she has the episode, and there is sneaking and Jolene is Concerned until she finds out about the chess and starts tagging along and Volleyball actually is useful physical training against Daleks and who knew? But then Beth is adopted and Angst because Found Family shouldn't be broken up like that, but then Shaibel shows up with the TARDIS and Jolene in the middle of the night because Time and RELATIVE DIMENSIONS In Space. So then she has this, and chess because Companioning doesn't have a salary and she kind of likes Alma? So she doesn't have time for stupid stuff because she is doing all this stuff. Eventually they clue Alma in, and things go Crazy after that and they totally take advantage of their free transport and basically live out of the Device while traveling and to compensate for doing homework and stuff. Alma finds her tranquility in music or something and the purpose of fighting aliens and it is like "I think the prescription was safer oh well--have at thee!" as she hits the Villain of the Week with a horse whip because She is a Kentucky Gal and knows how to ride right? It's all kinds of Crack at this point. Then Beth sees Benny in Cincinnati with his bag and weird clothes and is like "Another TL?" But he is gone before she can find out so she shrugs it off because she can keep up she's a genius like that.

But then in Vegas 1966 (1965 they had bigger things to worry about something had gone wobbly) she is like wtf he Is Better Than Me he MUST BE an alien. But then Borgov in Mexico, and she *knows* he is human so she has to rethink things. BUT ALMA LIVES because alien medicine, and that is why this qualifies for Other Ships because between Beth and Jolene who "comes home from college" on weekends, someone always is trying to set Alma and Mr. Shaibel up but they are Just Good Friends. So when she beats Benny and he invites her over in Ohio, she thinks Okay let's see which one this is. And Surprise! HUMAN! But it takes her a long time to work it out because he lives like Mr. Shaibel because basements are cheap and if you live in a space-time ship why bother paying more than you need for a cover and a parking space? And his friends are freaking Companion-ey, and she suspects his car is a decoy and the real TARDIS is on his head. And yes, she is trying to figure this out AND get in his pants because as she says to Cleo "I've been spoiled and normal people don't do it for me" and Cleo agrees that chess players have a unique charm but Beth thinks that is a euphemism for Time Lords. So it takes Daleks invading New York the day after "Do you still like my hair" to work out that "wait. This isn't a Time Lord. Just the closest thing I have found in an actual human." And then she's like "Benny, give me the knife!"  "What." "Your Knife!" "WHAT? Are you suicidal?! No, I won't enable you!" "I know what I am doing!" She snags it and starts making quick work since she has a decent blade. And he is like "I swore off this shit after Ecuador."

So in addition to ZACK AND IVY, we get references to Maelstrom, Dr. Sara Bellum, and even The Tigress? They didn’t have to go this hard, but whew, they did! Maybe we already knew this (I didn’t), but the show was animated by DHX Media, the successor to Dic.

Not gonna lie, I was hoping that some of my favorite voice actors would be in it (okay, I was really hoping they’d find parts for Jennifer Hale and Scott Menville), and they aren’t, but getting D.Va as Jules and Pod 153 as Ivy is something, at least.
