To let go is to change.

I suffered a great loss recently when my dog Yuki passed away. He lived a long life and gave me and my family 17 years of pure happiness and unconditional love. I knew I was running out of time with him but acceptance doesn't make things easier, it just makes things better to understand. The wound is still fresh and some days are harder than others. I'm a creature of routine and it is that routine that cuts deep these days. It's been difficult filling up the gaps in time that used to belong to him. I'm learning to live life differently.

This post is dedicated to my Yuki. I'll post what I did on primfeed at the end.

My Yuki crossed the rainbow bridge. He was my granny's dog first but I lived with my grandparents so he's been with me for 17 years. My story with him and my family runs deep. I became an unofficial caregiver to my grandparents when I was 17 so this feels like a full circle moment for me. I think that's why despite accepting his fate, it also comes with immense emptiness. I don't think many understand how painful and traumatic it is to be young and scared and still have to take care of two elderly people so that your mom can work and bring home an income. I sacrificed dreams. I sacrificed opportunities. Very important moments passed me by. Every morning was a panic attack for me. Every night was long and sleepless. I'd sometimes only sleep 4 hours and take naps when my mom would come home. After both my grandparents passed, I didn't know what to do with myself. I was so used to the role of caring that I didn't know how to cope. I was full of rage toward the rest of my family for not helping me and my mother. Most of all, I felt so lost and left behind. The world had moved on during the time I was a caregiver. I didn't have a job, I didn't know how to drive, I didn't have a good education. Truthfully, I never really got over any of it and I've always felt stuck in time. I guess my way of surviving was to focus on Yuki. And so I did. I gave him the best little life I could and I think he saved mine numerous times. I had to get up because I had him. I had to keep going because I had him. And every difficult moment for the last 17 years, he was there. In 2017, I suffered ovarian torsion. To make a long story short, I lost my ovary and was later diagnosed with infertility. I was devastated and horribly depressed. But I had Yuki to take care of and so I did. One day when we were outside, he pulled toward this injured cat in the yard. I named her Daisy and I started feeding her everyday. She ended up having kittens and from then on, I started feeding her, her babies and more strays/ferals came. I feed 11 cats now and have 2 indoor cats (Chubby & Luna) and it started with Yuki being the sweetest kindest boy to them all. All I know is that thanks to him, I learned that I don't have to give birth to give life. I've learned so much from him. The hardest lesson has been to close this chapter once and for all. So as I said goodbye and told him his job was done, I think he was probably saying it right back to me. That time that kept me frozen is over now. He's the last link I had to my past. He's free now and so am I.

Alola is extremely insular.

xavier: 

i speak about them so often that i feel like i’ve run out of trivia at this point... well, if there are any repetitions i apologize in advance.

-  xavier considers themself an Epic Gamer™ and unsurprisingly has a penchant for minecraft. and yes, they actually enjoy playing minecraft - it is not simply for the sake of memes. though that is the only “modern” game that holds their interest; they much prefer retro titles such as the older pokemon games (especially pokemon crystal), earthbound, megaman, and kirby. 

- let’s throw in another pokemon-related question just because i can... their favorite ‘mons include gengar, dragonite, blastoise, and quagsire! they also have an affinity for dragon-type pokemon in general. 

oh, and while they don’t play the more recent titles that often, they adore the shinx line. 

- their hair is naturally light brown, but turned white due to the... severe trauma they were subjected to during childhood. this is sometimes referred to as “marie antoinette syndrome”. 

- if xavier hypothetically had a youtube channel, people would assume that all of their videos are just clickbait because of the absurd challenges listed in the thumbnails... but they actually commit to those challenges, regardless of how dangerous, illegal, or downright impossible they may appear. 

- their birthday is may 30th and they are a gemini... to absolutely no one’s surprise. fun fact, though - that was the exact date when i originally created xavier, so i consider it a national holiday. 

- they have not cut their hair once in the past decade or so... hence why xavier is constantly referred to as “rapunzel”. but the idea of losing even a single strand of their so-called “beautiful locks” frightens them more than anything in the world. 

- xavier is 5′7″, so they’re fairly average... but is a little annoyed by the fact that their boyfriend still manages to beat them by a few inches. 

- xavier’s go-to weapon is a baseball bat adorned with spikes... let’s just say that they’re prepared for the zombie apocalypse when it ultimately comes around. 

- their favorite meme is bongo cat, but nyan cat is a very close second. xavier is fond of cat-related memes, needless to say. 

- they have the entire bee movie script memorized by heart, and i am not even kidding about that. whenever xavier wants to lawrence to do something for them, they’ll tempt him via torture by doing a dramatic reading of the entire script and slowly kill off his braincells. 

- they are gay as fuck 

wren: 

- it’s a known fact by now that wren adores flowers, and i’ve stated on multiple occasions that his absolute favorites consist of snapdragons, hyacinths, carnations, and asters. but he is also fond of lillies and anemones as well. 

 - wren, embarrassingly enough, used to write a lot of... fanfiction during his youth. specifically with a self-insert he invented with the main antagonist of his favorite novel... meaning that wren has a thing for bad boys, in spite of his gentle nature. 

- wren and jevon will occasionally do duets together - with a violin and piano respectively. wren does not consider himself on the same level as his brother yet, but jevon has been teaching him everything he knows - in exchange for lessons on gardening. 

- wren is the kind of person who will dress like he’s going to a business meeting when it’s just a casual outing. well, considering that wren is a prince and all, he feels that he must always look professional... and his closet comprises solely of tailcoats and suits, anyway. thankfully, he’s been receiving some fashion tips from his sister, elena. 

- he suffers from severe social anxiety, to the point he cannot look at a stranger in the eyes without breaking down. while wren has worked to improve himself, it’s an incredibly slow process... and given that he is basically a shut-in, he doesn’t have many opportunities to practice. the only people he can maintain a proper conversation with are... well, his siblings. 

- nonetheless, wren is also quite the romantic. he has spent the majority of his childhood indulging in romantic literature and daydreaming of the day when he could possibly sweep someone off their feet... but the wren of his imagination is a far cry from his actual personality, unfortunately. one time wren stepped on a ladybug and he cried about it for an entire week.

- people have also compared wren to that of a mouse, given how quietly he speaks... along with his overall jitteriness. only his siblings have mastered the “language of wren” thus far.

undertale: snapshots of scenes from the first time asgore had tea with various characters, from toriel to the first fallen child to undyne to frisk to papyrus and a few more in between!

earthbound: paula and mr. monotoli talk over tea during the department store drama.

the batman: alfred and lucius drink their tea after the joining attack and watch the city be rebuilt.

A Study in Purple:

sherlock holmes: a thing detailing a bunch of the weirder/more obnoxious cases holmes denied from upper-class twits across his career. mostly things incredibly obvious or trivial like wives going out to hang out with their friends privately or lost cats. (which is not trivial dangit holmes)

pokémon: ghost pokémon aren’t evil, but they can be mischievous fuckers. mysteries being solved by various famous ghost-type trainers (phoebe, morty, etc.)

sonic the hedgehog: a character study of blaze the cat, possibly by cream the rabbit.

Roundabout:

undertale: the skelebros and dreem team untangling faint memories of all their resets together, possibly unwillingly.

undertale x2: alternatively, a fic where asgore absorbs the SOULS but things keep going terribly on the surface, so he keeps using the RESET option back to that moment with more and more desperation until he has a total breakdown.

tiger & bunny: the titular duo are mind controlled somehow, but not by anyone super malicious--they end up having t&b lead all the heroes (and heroTV) around in a mad chase around the city just for the entertainment.

OFF crossover: the judge somehow breaks out after the end and finds himself in other PC games. eventually he settles down somewhere calm-ish. maybe stardew valley or something.

The Happiest Day:

undertale: everyone is alive again, somehow. chara, asriel, the six SOULS. the consequences will have to wait until later, everyone is crying tears of confused joy now.

My next tattoo(s)

So since this revamped account is a clean slate, I will start out with my tattoos I already have.

Tattoo #1: My best friend (at the time) and I made an impulsive decision, while I was at work, to call around local tattoo parlors and get a tattoo THAT NIGHT. It was a friday and I was going to hang out in her dorm room like I spent every single weekend of my Freshman year of college. We both love music and we wanted matching tattoos, so we got a simple music note on our right hips. Simple but meaningful. The painful part about the tattoo is that our friendship has simmered down to just being acquaintances.

Tattoo #2: I got the word “Fiction” down my left side, for three reasons. 1. James “The Rev” Sullivan. I didn’t want the foREVer tattoo every fan was getting, I wanted something that would have a better meaning to me. 2. A quote from Jimmy: “My life is kinda like a story that, if I told you about it, you wouldn’t believe. It would seem like fiction. That’s me.” and 3. The song “Fiction” is my all time favorite A7X song. Do not question me on this. I get chills every single time I listen to it. Most times I cry. It just got me through a rough time and I had planned on getting that tattoo since I was 13. ( i got it when i turned 20 )

Now for my next two tattoos (also involving music)

Tattoo #3: I want to get the words “earthbound misfit” tattooed on my left arm in a pretty but simple cursive font. This comes from the Pink Floyd song “Learning to Fly” the lyrics are “tongue tied and twisted, just an earthbound misfit, I.” this tattoo not only represents my love for the band, but I feel like “earthbound misfit” is a term that really represents me. and also this is a song that really brings my dad and I together.

Tattoo #4: Another Pink Floyd reference. I want to get an hourglass with a grandfather clock represented inside. I also want a simple floral design on the outside, including Lillies of the Valley. Lillies of the Valley grow in my parents garden and they’re one of my moms favorites. My grandmother was a big part of my childhood, especially since she lived right upstairs for 10 years of my life.  My grandmother had a grandfather clock in her upstairs apartment in our house, but I felt an hourglass with a grandfather clock represented inside was more my style. I’ll try to link the two pictures I have to show my tattoo artist...it’s somewhere in my cloud! But the song “Time” by Pink Floyd is my absolute favorite by them (learning to fly is second).

I may be going with my sister to her tattoo appt on the 20th and I’ll chat with my artist then (we have the same tattoo artist). I may even see if he’ll do my third tattoo right then and there unless my sisters work will be extensive and time  consuming!! He’s really nice and lenient and he loves us lol I’m not just going to bombard him and see if he’ll squeeze in a tattoo during the day.

1: Do you try to stay away from walkthroughs?

Not at all! A lot of the video games I got into I learned about while cruisin’ around the let’s play/walkthrough side of youtube

2: Company you’re always loyal to?

Nintendo, definitely! I grew up on Nintendo

3: Best game you’ve ever played?

[sweats nervously] ok ngl I think Super Mario RPG takes this one because smrpg was really got me super interested in video games in the first place

4: Worst game you’ve ever played?

……. Goldeneye for the Wii. It just didn’t feel the same as the N64 version

5: A popular series/game you just can’t get into no matter how much you try?

6: A game that’s changed you the most?

Okay, this is gonna sound really, uh, lame? cheesy? But it’s definitely Undertale. The message it drove home for me really resonated, it pulled me out of a really dark time of my life, it got me interested in actively looking into indie games again, and it also helped me realize what I want to do as a career

7: A game you’ll never forget?

Probably OFF. Something about it’s story telling stands out so eerily to me, I don’t think I’ll ever forget it anytime soon. Mortis Ghost did a really good job on that one.

8: Best soundtrack?

It’s a tie between OFF and Hyper Light Drifter! I absolutely love hld’s ambience, and I also really love how OFF’s ost sets the mood.

9: A game you turn your volume off every time you play it?

Any Pokemon game, really (though it’s usually after I’ve beaten the elite four)

10: A game you’ve completely given up on?

11: Hardest game you’ve played?

Ah geez. Probably Super Mario RPG, honestly. I’m really bad with timing those bonuses

12: Shortest time you’ve beaten a game in?

Undertale! Beat it in like, 2 days

13: A game you were the most excited for when it wasn’t released yet?

Hiveswap! Also Cuphead. :>

14: A game you think would be cool if it had voice acting?

OFF! I’ve heard a lot of interpretations of the character’s voices and accents, I think it would be really cool if they got voices!

15: Which two games do you think would make an awesome crossover?

……..Okay, this is going to sound kinda weird, but I can somehow see a BATIM/OFF crossover working for some reason.

Other than that, almost anything with Pokemon

That fuckin bone shark from super mario galaxy. fuck that guy

17: What game do you never tell people you play?

nowadays, it’s Undertale

18: A game you wish your friends knew about?

Okami!! and Hyper Light Drifter. Both of those have really pretty artwork and lovely soundtracks

19: Which game do you think deserves a revival?

Earthbound, without a doubt.

20: What was the first video game you ever played?

Either Super Smash Bros on the N64 or Mario Party 2 or 3. I can’t remember.

21: How old were you when you first played a video game?

Around 3-5 years old? One of my favorite things to do as a little kid was play video games with my older bros

22: If you could immerse yourself in any game for one day, which game would it be? What would you do?

Probably Pokemon, and I’d just go explore tbh. I love pkmn

23: Biggest disappointment you’ve had in gaming?

Honestly, how stale Five Nights at Freddy’s got. I feel like since there were so many games released so close to each other, it got really old really fast.

24: Casual, Hardcore, or in the middle?

Somewhere in the middle, I’d say

25: Be honest; have you ever used cheats (like ActionReplay or Gameshark)?

Yep! For really little things, I’ve used ActionReplay but could never get to do some big stuff before it broke. My brothers still have a Gameshark for the N64 that still works.

26: Handheld or console?

I’m fond of both, honestly!

27: Has there ever been a moment that has made you cry?

Yes! God, I get very emotional at the end of video games, but the only three that actually made me cry were Okami, Mother 3, and Undertale (pacifist run)

Lillie from Pokemon Sun/Moon.

29: Which is more important, gameplay or story?

For me, story, but honestly I think a really good game should be able to balance both.
