DUTY AFTER SCHOOL IMAGINE Masterlist
Part 2

◕___________♡♡♡___________◕
"Younghoon!" You grumbled as you watched him keep walking ahead of you with his focus solely on his smartphone.
"Hey, wait for me!" You ran to catch up with his fast pace.
"We're in the same tutoring center, why didn't you wait for me?" You asked in an annoyed tone.
But you only got a flat glance from Younghoon.
"Oh, hi (Name), hi Younghoon!"
Someone greeted, making you and Younghoon look back. It was Kim Chiyeol.
You cheerfully returned his greeting. "Hi, Kimchi!"
"Did ... your exam go well?"
You realized that Chiyeol was asking Younghoon that. But since there was no reply from him, you quickly responded. "I thought the exam was quite difficult, but maybe for Younghoon it was easy, like the practice questions he does everyday. Am I right, Younghoon?" You said as you gently nudged his shoulder.
Younghoon just gave you a flat look.
It wasn't long before the bus to the tutoring center arrived. Younghoon immediately entered the bus without intending to say goodbye first.
You grimaced awkwardly at Chiyeol, "Then I'll go first, see you tomorrow Kimchi!" You said.
"Ah, okay. Take care!"
Once you entered the bus, you looked at Younghoon who was sitting by the window. Then you casually walked over and sat on the empty seat next to him.
You heard a sigh from that man. "Can't you sit somewhere else?" said Younghoon without looking at you.
You smiled and shook your head. "I can't, the other seat is full."
You were obviously lying, because Younghoon had seen some empty seats when he boarded the bus earlier. However, he chose to keep quiet until you all reached the tutoring center.
When the bus stopped, you hurriedly got off the bus. Then stood by the bus door waiting for Younghoon to come out. As soon as he appeared, you smiled and invited him to enter the tutoring center together. But Younghoon just stayed where he was. You looked at him confused.
"Why are you just standing there? Let's go in, the class is starting soon," You said.
"I'm going to get a drink, you go in first."
Younghoon's words in a fairly soft tone managed to keep you frozen. Feeling a little surprised by his intonation that was somewhat different from the usual.
"Okay, hurry up and catch up."
Unbeknownst to you, Younghoon intended to skip class today. He just said he wanted to buy a drink so you wouldn't follow him.
Younghoon walked away from the building and went to an internet cafe.

"Can you teach me about this material?" You looked up at Soocheol. He smiled sweetly at you, not forgetting a textbook with math problems in his hand.
"Let me see."
Immediately that boy occupies the empty seat in front of you. Then gave you the book to look at.
You nodded slightly as you read the problem, "The method is, first you multiply this number by this one, then add them up. After that, substitute it into the equation," You explained.
Soocheol was seen nodding his head. "Wow, it was so easy. Thank you!" he said happily.
"No problem."
Too happy to finally understand the question, Soocheol who wanted to go back to his seat took a time to ruffle your hair. You, who were surprised to get such treatment, could only stand stiffly. You hope that no one saw what happened just now.
But, all those things did not escape Younghoon's sight. He had been glancing at you from his seat. Without realizing it, his hand was firmly pressed against the edge of the book he was reading.

"Jang Younghoon! Why are you avoiding me?" You stare wearily at this man. At lunchtime, you wanted to invite him to eat together in the cafeteria. But before you could speak, he got up from his seat and left the classroom.
Now you catch up with him walking towards the gym instead of the cafeteria. You shake off your confusion and choose to ask the question that has been on your mind since yesterday.
"Why didn't you have lessons yesterday? Where did you go?" You asked, finally feeling a little relieved to be able to say that.
"None of your business."
"Hey, it's definitely one of my business. What am I going to answer if your mom ask me?" You retorted.
Younghoon give you a disapproving glance. "Stop meddling in other people's business."
"Hey! It's my concern as your friend, you know?" You replied with an annoyed chuckle.
You couldn't help but feel irritated by the snide reply from your mom's best friend's son.
Without warning, Younghoon stepped closer to you with his sharp gaze. "Then stop caring about me, because I never considered you as a friend."
You were frozen on the spot. Never really felt this pain in your chest when Younghoon shot back at you with his cynical words.
"So annoying."
After that, Younghoon walked back out leaving you that still rooted in your spot.

DUTY AFTER SCHOOL IMAGINE

Four weeks pass slowly. You stare at the signed parental consent paper in your hand. You sigh before finally getting out of the car and dragging your suitcase into the school area.
Your eyes looked around the school. In front of the entrance gate, there were some soldiers standing guard. Now in the corridor, you see the final year students chatting with their friends or some who just arrived with a big bag or suitcase like you.
"Morning, (Name)! Are you coming too?" Yoojung, the class president, greets you. You smiled back at her and gave a small nod, then walked towards your seat in front of Aeseol.
"Morning, Aeseol," you greeted.
Aeseol smiles at you. "Good morning, (Name)."
While looking around the classroom, your eyes accidentally crossed with Younghoon who was sitting in his seat. You snorted softly and quickly looked away.
Meanwhile, Younghoon, who had been watching you from the start, quietly sighed.
At first, Younghoon was relieved that you were no longer bothering him by pretending to be close. He feels that his day become quieter without anyone to talk to. However, deep down, he felt lonely. Younghoon wants to deny that he misses you from making his day less monotonous.
Younghoon also realized that you've always been kind and friendly to him, even though he always replied flatly or uncaringly. That warm attitude of yours, he really missed it.
Younghoon regretted it.

"As soon as you are given a weapon, shout out your name and serial number!"
You, who are in the back row, can only peek while tiptoeing forward. In front of you was the figure of Jangsoo's pole, making it difficult for you to see your friends who were being given weapons in front of the row.
Younghoon, who was right behind you, tried to hide his smile. "Be patient, you'll get one too."
Hearing that voice made you turn your head. You stared in surprise at Younghoon who had just spoken. You had no idea he had been behind you all along.
But you tried to neutralize your facial expressions and faced forward again.
Younghoon looked at your back sadly. He hoped that by talking to you, he might be able to get you to return to your old behavior. But, hope is just hope.
You no longer made any effort to peek ahead, just stood still and took a few steps forward when told to until you finally got your share of the firearms.
"Thank you, sir."
After mentioning your identity and the serial number of the weapon, you instantly turned around and walked out of the line. You walk towards your classmates who are gathered on the sidelines.
"Wow, this is really cool. Just like in the game!" You said after sitting next to Yoojung.
"Have you ever played a game?" asked Jangsoo who was in Yoojung's right side.
You gave Jangsoo an annoyed look, " Of course I have! Don't underestimate me!" you retorted.
"I thought you were just playing a cooking game or a brain teaser quiz." Youngshin, who was sitting behind you commented.
You rolled your eyes lazily. "Never mind, I'm done with you guys."
Both boys laughed as they watched you get up and move away from the crowd of classmates.
Younghoon who wanted to come to you after getting a weapon, immediately sat down next to you. You just glanced at him without interest.
"Why are you here?" he asked.
"None of your business."
Of all your friends, why did it have to be this man who approached you. You're still upset about what he said the other day. But you couldn't shake your worry once you realized that there were cuts in several corners of his face. It must be because of his fight with Ilha yesterday.
"I didn't know you liked fighting."
You silently curse your lips for saying that. But, what's happened is happens. You shook off your pride and looked at Younghoon, waiting for his reply.
Younghoon turned to you. "He's gone too far, he should be taught a lesson once in a while."
You unconsciously chuckled. For some reason, you felt funny about Younghoon's answer. It feels very strange, considering Younghoon who only cares about lessons could say such a thing. It seemed like he was completely fed up with Ilha's attitude.
"Are you laughing?" said Younghoon in surprise.
You cleared your throat and shook your head. You quickly grabbed the bandage you carried in your uniform pocket and handed it to Younghoon.
"For your wound," you said as Younghoon looks at the bandage and your face in turn.
"Thanks."
Your heart raced as you caught the faint smile on his face. It's an expression Younghoon rarely shows.
You feel that since you silenced him a few week ago, he has started to change his attitude towards you. He sometimes invites you to talk first, or when you have trouble answering the questions on the board, he offers to help.
Yeah, you know he probably does that to improve his grades, not to help you. That's why you shouldn't be too confident. But, you also can't deny that you feel good about it. It's as if your struggle to get close to Younghoon is now paying off.
"Can you put it on for me?"
You blinked a few times. Younghoon was still looking at you with his hand thrusting the plaster towards you.
"Ekhm, y-yeah. Let me put it on."
Your heart skipped a beat, especially when you leaned closer to Younghoon to apply the plaster to the wound on his face. "Done."
"(Name),"
You held your breath, surprised by Younghoon that suddenly holding your hand.
"Forgive me, for what I said before."
That man was still focusing his attention on you. You could see the guilty look in his eyes.
Prit!!!!
"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?! GET TOGETHER RIGHT NOW!"
You suddenly let go of Younghoon's grip. Then move towards the Platoon Commander who just called out.
Meanwhile, Younghoon stared flatly at Lieutenant Lee. He had yet to receive an apologetic reply from you, even though he had tried his best to remove all his prestige just to apologize to you.

wang taeman , duty after school - homesick : wave to earth
| "i miss home."
( duty after school spoilers if you haven't watched the series yet !!! )
( warnings of death are present if people are sensitive about it )
"i miss my mom."
"me too, and my dad too."
"i miss home."
"me too!"
"i miss the way it was before all of this even happened really."
y/n l/n and wang taeman sat outside the large building that their class had taken refuge underneath. they had practically made it their home with food, patrol duties and just things that they considered to be normal things ever since they had gotten used to the routine.
y/n l/n turned her head to look at taeman as he played with his fingers as the cold night sky danced along his and her facial features.
"i wish i was studying the csat exams instead of shooting aliens."
"nah i'd rather be doing this, extra points!"
taeman jumped up, resembling shooting aliens with his gun as he whipped around random directions. y/n laughed at the sight of him and dug her hands deeper into her pockets to keep the small heat that she could contain. taeman noticed the sight of her shiver and sat back down next to her as he placed his gun down next his foot on the floor.
"are you cold, pretty?"
he questioned, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as he pulled her in closer to him until y/n's arm made contact with his chest.
"freezing."
"it's okay, your super hot boyfriend is here to help you!"
y/n giggled and squished herself closer towards taeman as both arms started wrapping around her.
"i got you, y/n."
-
"taeman.. wake up- taeman!"
y/n cried out, clutching onto taeman's shirt as she tried pulling him up but his limp and slowly turning cold body made her realise that he wasn't coming back.
"you can't do this to me- please wake up!"
young-soo went batshit fucking crazy (i actyal hate him i cannot rn) and shot everyone in the class. it started with jang-su as he tried to leave to find him in the first place. but he got shot as he fell to the ground and young-soo shot everyone else as a few people tried running out of the class. when young-su started shooting, taeman had ran towards y/n who sat at the back of the class, hugging her and pushing them to the floor as y/n didn't even realise what was going on as the gunshots hollowed out in her head.
young-soo went out the class to shoot the remainders of everyone who had escaped his wrath. y/n's eyes were wide as she tried rolling taeman off of her.
"taeman..?"
no response which made y/n roll him off her. she sat up and pushing him up against the wall.
"taeman, wake up.."
his eyes were closed, as his breathing stilled and her lips trembled, her hands catching his face that nearly fell forward.
"you're just sleeping right?"
"you'll wake up right?"
taeman still hadn't responded, y/n's tears left her eyes as her lashes fluttered shut.
"taeman, please."
"you said we'd go out to eat together after the exams. taeman.."
-
"we should go out to the bbq near our school."
"whole class or just us?"
taeman held her hand tightly, gripping it with his own.
"just us. i want to relax together once exams are over."
y/n smiled sweetly, leaning towards him and pressing her lips against his and taeman smiled in the kiss, separating and kissing her again as he wrapped his arms around her.
"ew lovebirds get a room not in the hallway!"
"shut up ii-ha!"

– 𝐆𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒 || 𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫!𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 (𝐝𝐚𝐬)
SUMMARY: Your brother always knew you were a good kid. PAIRINGS: Lee Chun-ho x sister!Reader ; minor Kwon Il-ha x f!Reader WARNING/TAGS: Canonical character death; Angst; Descriptions of violence AUTHOR NOTE: Takes place during Episode 5: "Maesong City University"
Tumblr media
1.8k words
You were a good kid.
Truthfully, Chun-ho expected you to be harder than you were. With Eomma dying shortly after your birth, Appa skipping town not long after and him just starting his mandatory conscription by the time you were left with Harabeoji, Lee Chun-ho expected you to be a lot more angry and disobedient when he returned to take you with him.
Kids who didn't have parents to discipline them often were, he'd heard.
But Harabeoji was, well, Harabeoji.
"I may be old, but don't forget I raised your Eomma," Harabeoji smiled, eyes warm as you shuffled at his side, eyes darting between the two men curiously.
You'd spent nearly your entire childhood with him–longer than Chun-ho had anticipated–but he'd been offered a more permanent role with the military, one that meant staying a lot longer to plan taking you in and raising you with military benefits, and Harabeoji hadn't minded your extended stay.
Chun-ho may have inherited your Eomma's face, but you had her mature and easy-going spirit.
Raising you was easy, Harabeoji told him whilst you packed, because you were a good kid. Something Chun-ho got to see for himself overtime. In your spare time you liked drawing, listening to lofi music and reading.
When you were with Chun-ho, you liked testing out new recipes for the two of you to try, asking him about anything interesting happening at the base and joining him to watch the sports movie he'd play after a long day, nestling into his side to watch, too.
You hated bean sprouts, horror movies and washing the dishes but didn't mind drying so long as the space between you was filled with idle chatter.
Of course, like any other siblings you two had your fair share of arguments, too.
Sometimes you played your music a little too long into the night. Chun-ho was guilty of tracking muddied boots into the apartment, and you didn't understand why he'd wanted you to drop judo as an extra curricular, didn't understand the way the floor gave way beneath his feet the day you came home, face bruised and swollen.
But like Harabeoji and like Eomma, when you got upset with something Chun-ho said or a new rule he imposed you didn't yell or break things like Appa used to do (and Chun-ho, before conscription straightened him out) but would instead act rationally. Disappearing from Chun-ho's side before returning when you calmed.
You studied hard, joined extracurriculars that challenged you (as you'd defended judo), kept yourself surrounded with good people and updated him on anything he missed when he was gone.
Above all, you were happy.
Never lamenting on Eomma's passing or Appa's abandonment or faulting Chun-ho for his own shortcomings.
Truly, when Harabeoji said raising you was easy, he wasn't kidding.
Chun-ho was grateful.
Grateful that you'd grown up so normal and healthy, and that in your time together he got to see you come into your own hobbies and interests.
Grateful that you were always so easy with him, although convincing Harabeoji to let you join your class in mandatory training was anything but.
Chun-ho knew what the training was for, as prettily disguised as the government made it be with their promises of CSAT credits in lieu of early admission.
He knew just how dangerous and life-threatening the Spheres really were and had already proven to be, with Young-Hoon's needless death marking the beginning of the end.
Which is why when the Spheres finally attacked Sungjin High School and your platoon was forced to evacuate, Chun-ho was infinitely more grateful that you were right there with him.
Always at his side, even when at times he wished you weren't.
Admittedly though, in the aftermath of the chaos, of the bloodshed and massacre, the realisation that there were still things he hadn't known about you was something Chun-ho did not expect but something that crept up on him during the long nights spent overseeing your platoon.
In the two months your platoon stayed waiting in the downtown Sungjin Military base, Chun-ho learned that Kim Yoo-jung and Jo Jang-soo were perhaps two of your closest friends. Always the first to gravitate toward you during trainings and during lunch.
Though Yoo-jung could get overwhelmed at times with her role as Class President, Jang-soo seemed to be your other half, your main confidant—a constant in a class that seemed to shift around you.
One such force was Yeon Bo-ra, a spirited girl who was all sharp glares and sharper words and everything Chun-ho expected you to be once upon a time.
The past two months may have been hard on everyone, but you'd endured it with the surety of someone who had your family close by. A luxury not everyone had, as Bo-ra liked to point out.
Surprisingly, as often as Yoo-jung and Jang-soo came to your defence against Bo-ra during one her tirades, it was the natural ease that existed between you and Kwon Il-ha that had Chun-ho more intrigued into your place amongst your peers.
One night during dinner Il-ha had given you his bottle of water, hands brushing against yours longer than what was necessary.
It was there that Chun-ho realised that there was something, something more, between you and the usually hot-headed boy.
Your cheeks, usually pale, had been flushed as you accepted the bottle with an appreciative smile. Falling back into your conversation with Yoo-jung all the while Il-ha watched you with the kind of calm and attentiveness Chun-ho hadn't seen in him until then.
It had been a brief interaction, one your brother couldn't place exactly at the time, but the sincerity was there all the same, lingering in the space between you.
Chun-ho hadn't expected it, but seeing you with a first crush, teetering on the edge of something more–well, Chun-ho considered it a small mercy, all things considered.
Even if the War seemed endless and bleak, seeing you just be a kid was something your brother would always cherish. Now more than ever as he stands in the long abandoned classroom of Maesong City University, ready to die.
Tumblr media
The room your brother's trapped in is quiet.
Where your platoon waits in the Seolbong Building across, is not.
Somewhere out there, in the desolate campus building, the mechanical and otherworldly whirring of the Spheres looms closer.
It had been risky, luring the Spheres in the neighbourhood to Maesong City University so they could blow them up with the bombs they'd made from dynamite and depleted uranium. But it had to be done.
And as this War had shown him, the kids in your class–yourself included–were made of stronger stuff.
In spite of the danger, of the fear and uncertainty he was sure you all felt, your class carried on, sticking together and covering each other when it mattered most.
As your Commanding officer, it was a humbling development but as your brother, it was reassuring and relieving all in one.
Knowing you were across from him, safe as you could be surrounded by your friends and platoon, Chun-ho felt nothing but calm serenity. And then–
"–Sir please," So-yeon's voice crackles through the device, wet and choked. "You promised."
The sound of her voice, so young and so scared, drags him back to reality — to the stifled quiet of the abandoned classroom where he almost falters.
But then the rational side of him wins out, and your brother thinks about your class and of you, of how you're somewhere in that room with So-yeon, and reminds himself that just like your class, he can be strong, too.
Firmly, he presses down on his mic.
"I'm sorry I can't protect you until the end as I promised," Chun-ho says, finding his voice.
"And for dragging you into this war as an adult. At first, I thought you were disobedient kids. But now that I think about it, I'm so grateful and proud of you all."
Through his walkie, Chun-ho can hear the raw grief and sorrow of your platoon. Different voices whimpering, crying and begging him to change his mind; but he can't, and he won't.
Quietly, he calls your name. Blinks away his tears as he listens to movement on your end, before a quiet voice rasps:
"Oppa?"
In your next life, Chun-ho resolves to tell you more often how much you mean to him. Resolves to spend his next life making it up to you everyday for leaving this way.
There's so much Chun-ho wishes he could say, but time is a privilege he doesn't have so your brother settles for something shorter, something only you'll understand.
"You have been the best sister I could have asked for. And the time we had together, it was glorious. So live well, okay?"
It's not goodbye, but Lee Chun-ho is confident those are the words that will bring you the most comfort right now. The words that will give you the strength to do what the others can't do in this moment.
And he's right.
In another life, Kim Yoo-Jung would've stepped up to initiate the bomb as Class President. And if not her, than Sergeant Kim as your brothers' second in command.
But in this life, you're here.
And because you've always been a good kid, you press the button in Yoo-jung's place.
And your brother? Well, your brother closes his eyes, and smiles.
Tumblr media
Chun-ho's latest pick is playing on the TV. It's an American move: McFarland USA, or something like that.
You're tucked into his side, all warm and lazy contentment and outside, there is the quiet patter of rain.
"Oppa?" you ask, when the movie reaches a lull.
"Hmm?" he replies, tilting his head toward you.
In the next few months, you'll be taking the CSATs. Graduating high-school before making your way into the big wide world. It's a scary thought, daunting really, but you're confident that whatever you do your brother will support you.
There is one thing you'd like to know, though.
"What if I still don't know what I want to do after school?" you ask, hesitant.
Your brother blinks, as if momentarily surprised, before his face relaxes. "I think by the time CSATS are done, you'll have an idea of what you want to do. You're the smarter one between us, so you'll be fine."
"You think so?"
Chun-ho smiles, playfully knocking your knees with his.
"I know so," he repeats, sure and confident.
"And if you're still unsure, don't focus too much on what everyone else is doing and think about what you like. Sometimes, the best thing we can do in life is find what we love and follow it to glory."
"Is that you how feel about the Military?" you can't but press, curious.
Chun-ho lets out a quiet laugh, eyes soft and gentle as he takes you in. "Not just the Military," he says, something meaningful in his tone, right before a bang resounds from the TV.
"– Now shush, it's starting to get good!"

Duty After School Imagine : 01
☆ Jo Jangsoo x Reader ☆
a/n: this is my first time writing a fanfic in English language, so let me know if there's anything wrong in my sentence or else. and, hope you all like it <3
Tumblr media
"Take it, it's your share."
Someone's voice manages to make you turn your head. It's Jangsoo.
He handed you a canned food.
You stare at the canned food without interest, then turn your gaze back up. Staring up at the clear night sky, decorated with stars and also some purple balls that if observed is actually so beautiful.
"I'm not hungry," you reply.
Jangsoo seems to understand your attitude, so he chooses to sit next to you in front of the building where you're resting with all of your friends. Or as the Class President calls it 'home'.
"If things were different, I would have taken a picture of the current sky with my phone." These word just flowed from your lips.
Jangsoo smiled, relieved that you had started the conversation. This man had been worried about you being quiet and expressionless since the Lieutenant Lee incident.
"I like it."
Jangsoo's reply makes you look back at him. Your eyes blink a few times as you realize that Jangsoo is looking at you with a faint smile.
"Every photo you takes was always nice and beautiful."
Jangsoo wasn't lying. Since 11th grade, you and him have been in the same class. So every time you upload your pictures on social media, it always manages to make Jangsoo smile. Apart from taking the right angle of photos, he also always imagines your face when taking pictures. Jangsoo feels stunned by your expression every time you see the sky view. You're so beautiful.
"Thank you."
After that, there was only the sound of the breeze, as you and Jangsoo were busy looking at the night sky with your own thoughts.
"Let's go back inside. You should rest," Jangsoo said, breaking the silence.
"I'm not sleepy yet, Jangsoo. If you want to go in first, that's fine."
Jangsoo sighed softly, "If you feel cold, come in immediately," he said which you nodded.
--------------------------
"Alright, now that we've got our assignments, let's go."
As soon as they heard the class president's words, the students of class 12-2 immediately went to the destination according to their respective teams.
Jangsoo who was standing next to you then invited you to walk directly with the others towards the prison.
"Are you okay?" he asked when he turned around and found your face looking a bit pale.
You looked at him with a little doubt. "I just feel— it's okay. Don't mind me," you say, unable to express your feeling.
"No need to worry, we'll all be fine while we're together," Jangsoo replies, trying to calm you down.
And it works, because now you feel a little less worried. You nodded slowly, making Jangsoo smile slightly.
After a while, all of you finally arrived at the prison that Taeman had seen yesterday while cleaning the purple balls.
"Look for a circuit board-shaped device for the protophone. If you find it, give it to me or Soyoon," said Youngshin, immediately nodded by the others.
"Let's split up from here," he continued.
Jangsoo looks at you and invites you to follow him towards the building on the left side. With a wary look and weapons ready in each hand, Jangsoo and you begin to walk into the deserted building.
"This is my first time in here," Taeman says quietly in a horrified tone.
You turn around and found that Taeman dan Soyoon are behind you.
"You think it's my second time?" replies Soyoon in a lazy tone, but she still keeps a vigilant eyes on her surroundings.
After wandering around and confirming that this place was safe from orbs, they quickly searched for tools to repair the protophone as well as any objects they could utilize.
Until suddenly, there was a strange sound that was quite loud. It makes you and the others pause and look at each other confused.
"Let's go back to the first place." Jangsoo said.
After that, you and your friend left the building and gathered with the others.
"Did you guys hear it too?" Soyoon asked.
"What's that sound?"
"Is it a ball?" You asked.
"Wait, listen carefully," Heerak said.
"It's like an SOS code. Listen again," he continued.
"That's right! Is looks like someone else is here. Let's go find them!"
Then they walked in the direction the sounds came from, until they reached the basement.
You, who had been in front of Jangsoo, immediately moved closer to him.
"Is this a dungeon?" You ask quietly.
"I think so," Jangsoo replies.
You feel scared because the atmosphere in this room is kind of quiet and creepy.
"Hey! Help us!"
The shouts makes you and your friends gasp in shock. It turns out that inside there are several detention rooms filled with prisoners.
"Weren't the prisoners released this time?" You ask.
"I heard that only prisoners with minor crimes were released. In that case... those here are prisoners who have committed major mistakes, possibly receiving life imprisonment or death," says Taeman.
"Then let's just go! Don't deal with them or we'll get hurt," said Bora.
"But, it would be a shame to leave them here." Aeseol said hesitantly.
Prang!!
"Hey, damn it! Hurry up and open it! Do you have the heart to let us rot to death here?!" shouted one of the prisoners.
"Then you're just as bad as us! Sh*t!"
"Hey, shut the f*ck up! You're scaring them!"
The shouts from the prisoners scared you and the others, but you didn't show it openly, because that would make you even more threatened.
"Let's go, we can't deal with them," Jangsoo says to the others.
Staying here too long could put all of you in danger. Therefore, Jangsoo must darw to make a decision.
"Damn it!"
"Hey, let's us go!"
The shouts of disapproval from the prisoners could be heard clearly as Jangsoo, you, and your friends walked out of the room.
Once outside, you stop and look at each other. On the one hand, you feel that you can't release the prisoners, but on the other hand, you feel guilty for leaving them there to starve to death.
You deliberate, discussing with each other to get rid of the ambiguity in your feelings. Finally, you and others decide to go back inside and give the prisoners the food and drinks you bought with you all.
After that, with shouts and curses from the prisoners you come back out. All of you have decided to give your provisions, not to free the prisoners. Of course, this makes the prisoners who were initially happy because you and others came back in, now cursing because they will not be released.

DUTY AFTER SCHOOL IMAGINE
--------------------------
"Oh, you guys are back?"
Hana, who was guarding the basecamp, greeted the search teams with an inexplicable expression.
You walked languidly to the sofa in the room, then flopped down on the sofa. A long sigh escapes your lips.
It had been a very long day. You and your fellow search team members almost lost their lives dealing with the criminals. Suddenly you realize that there is something more terrifying than purple balls: human.
Seeing Jangsoo approaching, you change your position to sit down. He sits next to you, and you lean on his shoulder.
"I'm glad we're okay," you said.
"Yeah. How about you? Are you feeling better?" He asks, making you raise your head to look at Jangsoo's face.
"Not as scared as I was," you said softly.
"Hey, what about the protophone? You guys found it, right?" asks Joonhee.
"Damn! I forgot!" Heerak hissed.
"Huh? How come you didn't get it!" exclaimed Hana.
"Shut up! You don't know, we almost lost our lives there!" retorted Soyoon.
Hearing the commotion of Heerak, Hana, and Soyoon makes you sigh in frustration. Too dizzy with the events of earlier, you didn't realize that the man you were now leaning on was secretly harboring guilt.
-------------------------
"So, you've been manipulating the vote all this time?"
"Why are you hiding this from us!"
"I can't trust anyone anymore."
The noise caused by your friends' protests is ignored. The only thing you were paying attention to right now was the tall man who had always protected you looking down guilty in front of you.
Jangsoo, Yoojung, Ilha, and even the now-deceased Soocheol had been lying to you and your friends. They had manipulated the vote to 'survive' and 'carried out cleanup operations' until you radio/protophone were working again.
Every time they held a vote, the 'defense' succeed. But it wasn't a collective decision, it was manipulated by your four friends.
Of course, you felt very disappointed in them, especially Jangsoo. He didn't tell you about it. Obviously it makes you feel that he doesn't trust you.
Finally your friends leave, leaving Jangsoo, Yoojung, and Ilha that still looking down guilty. With slow steps, you approach Jangsoo.
"Can I talk to you?" You asked.
The three look up and stare at you. But you're only focused on Jangsoo. Without waiting for Jangsoo's reply, you immediately took his hand and led him to the front of the building.
"Explain." You stare at him with mixed feelings.
Jangsoo who had been lowering his head, is now looking right into your eyes. There is a feeling of disappointment and anger that Jangsoo can see.
"I'm sorry, I did this to protect you and the others."
You remain silent, waiting him to continue.
"We don't know if it's safe in Seoul, so we decided to keep us all here for the time being."
However, that answer did not satisfy you.
"Don't you trust me?" you ask with a sad smile.
Jangsoo rounded his eyes in surprise. Of course he trusted you, but why would you say something like that.
"Of course I trust you," he said firmly.
"But you didn't tell me anything that important."
Your defenses are broken. The tears you've been trying to hold back finally fall. Jangsoo immediately pulled you into his warm embrace.
"I'm sorry, I didn't want you to get involved and end up disappointing others like me. I'm sorry, I just wanted to protect you," Jangsoo said.
"You're really bad, Jangsoo."
You hug him back tightly while shedding your tears. You're disappointed, but you're also touched because of him.

I am loving Duty After School.
I'm seeing lots of comments about how "annoying" and "dumb" the characters are.
That. Is. The. Point.
They're sheltered 18/19 year olds who are both in a state of denial and actively being lied to. They're scared, confused, and lost, and all they want to do is go home, but at the same time they can't accept that home is gone.
Of course, they're whiny brats, it's their only defense mechanism.
Honestly, this is such an accurate portrayal of the apocalypse.
Except for the girls not putting their hair back, that's dumb as shit.

kwon ii-ha , duty after school - light : wave to earth
"we're friends, don't you remember?"
(i wrote this thinking abt kwon ii-ha 😪)
y/n walked towards the room that the boys were staying in. the girls and boys had separated rooms for obvious reasons as they stayed at the school for military training.
but y/n didn't realise the fact that most of the girls were crowding together around the corner of the hallway, watching her knock on the boy's door, waving through the window as most of the boys looked at the noise.
"it's y/n!"
"hi y/n!"
hee-rak and deok-joong jumped infront of y/n, opening the door quickly as they were the closest to the sliding door.
"hii, can i talk to ii-ha?"
y/n shifted on the spot nervously, playing with the sweater in her hands. all the boys in the room ooo-ed, as ii-ha got up from his makeshift bed with hurry, jogging over to y/n with a small smile on his face.
"hey."
"hello.."
y/n and ii-ha held eye contact together but y/n looked away quickly, the red hue on her face becoming hotter.
"follow me?"
"okay- stop looking you weirdos."
ii-ha said to y/n sweetly, before looking at hee-rak and deok-joong and hitting them over the head before walking away to y/n. the boys huddled around the doors and looked out the room windows to watch y/n and ii-ha walk away while they laughed together.
"guys.. do you wanna follow them?"
"yes right now, before we lose them!"
-
"how was training today?"
"it was okay, i bet your weak ass struggled."
"hey! so rude."
ii-ha laughed at y/n's reaction, looking at the sweater in her arms. he leaned on the open window sill as y/n stood next to her, standing and looking at the purple spheres and stars in the sky.
"are you giving my sweater back?"
"yes, i keep forgetting to all the time now and i'm remembering now so i better do it while i remember."
"you can keep it, you know that right?"
"yeah but i feel baddd, plus i don't think that friends keep each others clothes. don't think i didn't realise you stole my oversized shirt. you're literally wearing it right now."
"YEAH WELL. it's oversized on you but fits good on me so cry about it."
"i'm waiting for my shirt."
"ugh can't we trade?"
"NO"
y/n tugged on the shirt that ii-ha had on. HER shirt, whining.
"i miss this shirt man"
"too bad, if you want it so bad buy me one and you can have this one back."
ii-ha pulled her arm, tugging her into him as he slid an arm around her shoulder as she relaxed into his touch as they fell into silence, but it was peaceful as the night crickets chirped loudly. they were basking into each other's closeness so much that they couldn't see the smacks from their classmates hitting each other and watching them.
"what are we? like us?"
ii-ha shrugged, replying,
"we're.. friends?"
"we're more than friends. friends with benefits? wait no that's for like sexy shit."
"do you wanna be friends with benefits you pervert?"
ii-ha acted disgusted, ignoring the fact that he was actually thinking about it with y/n if she said yes, still holding an arm around her shoulder.
"gross no! but, we're not friends."
"best friends?"
y/n blinked at him, sighing.
"good enough, we're besties."
"put the sweater on."
"i'm not cold?"
"i can feel the goosebumps on your arms, put it on."
ii-ha let his arm fall, watching y/n put on the sweater a little too big for her as he smiled, playing the memory back of her wearing the sweater of his for the first time.
-
"it's so fucking cold."
ii-ha had one hand tucked into his pockets, the wind blowing through his hair as he felt the air from the open windows throughout the whole building as he sat slumped in the chair, the free hand holding a walkie talkie as he talked to y/n. the both of them had guard watch for the boys room and girls room in different hallways.
"i told you wear a hoodie."
"yeah but i thought it would be okay because we're inside."
y/n hadn't heard from ii-ha for a minute, worried, she called back.
"ii-ha? why'd you go quiet?"
"here."
y/n screamed at the random noise, jumping up from her chair in fear, worried the girls heard her she slapped her hand over her mouth.
"oh my gosh why'd you have to scare me like that?"
"you're just a pussy, here."
he shook his hand that the sweater was in, underneath his sweater he wore a plain black shirt.
"you're cold."
"you know i could've just gone back to the girls and get a hoodie?"
"yeah but knowing you, you would stay there and talk with them and be lazy to go back. so i came to you."
"..thank you ii-ha."
holding the sweater in her hand, she could feel the wear in the sweater from ii-ha, slipping the big sweater on after she dropped the walkie talkie in her lap.
"no problem. keep talking to me on the walkie, i'm getting bored on night watch."
ii-ha said, waving as he walked away slowly and then turning a corner. after he turned the corner, he walked with his hands covering his face to help the heat on his face to disappear. he was cold without his sweater, but y/n alone made him feel hot enough.
-
"we might aswell just trade."
ii-ha said again, holding her shoulder again as he swung an arm around her.
"you're so annoying."
"yeahhh, but you love me."
"mhm whatever."
ii-ha looked down on y/n with his eyes, connecting his eyesight to her as she kept staring at the sky through the window. feeling a sense of courage, on the other side that he wasn't on of y/n's, he reached out for her hip, pulling it towards him as y/n followed his hands as she looked at them and then looked up at ii-ha as she followed his movements that made her lean on the window sill with ii-ha caging her in between his arms.
"we can be more, than best friends if you want you know."
y/n was too focused on ii-ha to even notice the others were peeking into the classroom watching them. she bit her bottom lip softly,
"only if you want to."
y/n said back, her eyes closing slowly as she leaned in, ii-ha immediately followed her lips, kissing her deeply as she held her arms around his neck and he held onto her hips, steadily moving his arms eventually to her waist.
after seconds, they separated, a small string of saliva connecting the two of them as y/n laughed nervously, hiding her red face with her hands and dug her face into his torso as ii-ha held her waist still and laughed, holding her even closer as he let y/n rest her head in his shoulder, him resting his head on hers.
"FUCK I HATE YOU GUYS"
a voice from the door yelled out, ii-ha and y/n finally realised the group of the class as y/n grew embarrassed, hee-rak had been the one who yelled, all the girls were trying to pull him down to cover him so that they could watch the two of them.
"hee-rak get fucking down!"
"hee-rak you blew it!"
"THEY'RE TOO CUTE- FUCK RUN AWAY"
ii-ha had let go of y/n, not before leaving a kiss on her forehead and also pulling her arm to run at everyone by the door, everyone scrambled to get away, laughing as their voices echoed down the hallways, other classes wondering what was going on.
