 The Day 6 is dedicated to goddess Katyayani,one of the nine forms of Shakti. She took birth as the daughter of Sage Katyayan as a result of which she is known as Katyayani.According to the scriptures, goddess Parvati took the form of Maa Katyayani to destroy Mahishasura, who was a demon. Katyayani was the most violent form of goddessParvati. This form of MaaParvati is also known as a warrior goddess. She is also called Shakti, Durga, Bhadrakali, and Chandika. 

She is portrayed with 4 hands, carrying a sword and the lotus flower in her right hands while keeping her left hands in Abhaya and Varada mudras.She holds shining Chandrahasa (Sword) in Devi’s hand and one hand is depicted as giving the blessing. She rides a magnificent lion.

Navratri Day 3 - Tritiya: Devi Chandraghanta

 Devi Chandraghanta is worshiped on the third day ofNavratri. She rides on a Tiger; there is a bell shaped crescent on the mother's head which gave her the name GoddessChandraghanta. She has ten hands, each hand has different weapons. She protects against demonic forces.According to Hindu mythology, Devi Chandraghanta is the Goddess of spirituality and internal strength. DeviChandraghanta is also known asChandrakhanda, Chandika or Rannchandi. This form ofDevi Chandraghnata is peaceful and welfare. By her grace all the sins, distresses, physical sufferings, mental tribulations and ghostly hurdles of the devotees are eradicated.

Chandra means moon. Moon represents the mind.  So Chandraghanta is that which charms the mind, the embodiment of beauty. Anything which is beautiful to you is because of the mother divine's energy. If the energy is not there then nothing is beautiful. However beautiful body and face some may have, if there is no life then you don't say it beautiful. You don't say this is a beautiful corpse. In dead body you don't see beauty in it, because there is no energy. So, it’s energy that brings life in animals and radiates beauty in human beings.

Navratri Day 2: Devi Brahmacharini

On the second day of Navratri, Devi Brahmacharini is worshiped. Goddess Parvati took birth second time at the home of DakshaPrajapati. Goddess Parvati was great sati in this form and was worshipped as goddess Brahmacharini. She holds a Kamandal in her left and a rosary in her right hand.It is said that this form of Goddess is very radiant and majestic and give an infinite result.

At the behest of DevrishiNaradji, she had a hard penance to get Lord Shiva in the form of a husband.As a result, she became the wife of God Shiva. Due to this difficult austerity of the Goddess, she was known by the name of ascetic Brahmacharini. Brahma means that austerity (तपस्या)andcharini means to behave.

 Those who worship Goddess Brahmacharini during Navratri with full devotion, increase the chastity, renunciation, devotion, virtue and restraint in them.The provider of all fortunes, Mangal(Mars) is said to be governed by Goddess Brahmacharini.
