With no symptoms, Nandamuri Balakrishna tests positive with COVID-19; his fans hope him a "speedy recovery."
Nandamuri Balakrishna,tests positive with COVID-19. The actor has now contracted the virus twice; the first time was in August of last year. He is currently anticipating the arrival of NBK107.
Balakrishna has announced the same in a statement that has been made public. The statement stated that the actor is presently in home isolation and has asked everyone he has interacted with over the past two days to undergo testing as well. He also asked his fans not to be concerned because he is doing fine. Nandamuri fans have been wishing the actor well and a quick recovery ever since the news broke. On Twitter, directors Bobby, Anil Ravipudu, and Gopichand Malineni have also sent their wishes for a quick recovery.
Balakrishna's next collaborator, Anil Ravipudu, tweeted: "Return with strength! #NandamuriBalakrishna garu, I wish you a swift recovery." On the actor's birthday, the news of their upcoming project was revealed alongside a photo of Balakrishna dressed traditionally and standing next to director Anil Ravipudi. Ishaan shines bright in this ode to the masala movies of Bollywood
STORY: On a fateful night, local cabbie Blackie (Ishaan Khattar) stumbles upon this pretty – also mouthy and hot-headed – girl Pooja (Ananya Panday). There are goons involved and apparently there’s this history between them, and Pooja, the runaway, seems to be carrying a ton of cash and jewellery. Why does this ‘Aafat’ (by Blackie’s own admission) fall into his lap after all these years and what’s the mayhem all about?‘Khaali Peeli’ is one eventful ride towards redemption, reconnection and, of course, romance!
REVIEW: Back in the day, in their native village of Shivpur, when Vijay Chauhan aka Blackie was at the ripe age of 10, his Babuji (Anup Soni) was notorious for being an absolute phattu. But, by pure luck, his son is born with a mean streak and is also an ardent hustler in the making. So, perhaps to prove a point to the villagers and themselves, the father-son duo embarks on a journey of crime that is doomed from the start, again, thanks to Chauhan senior’s namby-pamby ways. Cut to 10 years later, Vijay – now earning the moniker Blackie because of his swindling schemes – is on the run and has settled in Mumbai as a local kaali peeli (hence the name, get it?) driver. But in the current day, the city is fuming with anger as the taxi association calls for a strike for an indefinite period of time until the government meets their demands. Not Blackie though. He refuses to adhere to the directives and looks at it as a window of opportunity to mint money and extract as much as he can from the needy… talk about being morally bankrupt! In comes the salwar-clad ticking time bomb Pooja, who’s clearly on the run from some dangerous people and has a bag full of money and jewels. Her safety, he is not worried about but the hefty moolah, he definitely is. The story of ‘Khaali Peeli’ navigates many a dark alley of Kamathipura (Mumbai’s red-light district) and finds itself back to its place of origin – Uttar Pradesh. What transpires over a period of two days – with a distinct overlap of past and future – is what this dramedy encapsulates.
Flicking the back of his collar while lighting a borrowed cigarette in a Rajinikathesque fashion, Blackie makes an open declaration about his persona to the camera.He doesn’t compromise on two aspects of his vagabond-ish life – tashan and ‘emosan’. The opening shot is evidence enough to predict that the rest of the tour is an out-and-out Bollywood masala flick. And director Maqbool Khan delivers on various accounts. There are creepy hooligans with creepier names (sample this: Yusuf Chikna!), there’s the eternal sacrifice constituting the central theme of the narrative, there is an inspector called Tawde and bullets flying all around the hero, who, well, escapes unhurt! And speaking of the pace of the film, the first 30-40 minutes are absolutely packed with quirky dialogues and has an amount of visual excitement that’s appreciable.
However, the stumbling block in ‘Khaali Peeli’ seems to be with Sima Agarwal and Yash’s screenplay: the integration of the flashbacks with the current timeline kind of takes away from the momentum of the plot; few hits and a lot of misses. In an attempt to connect the dots and explain the situation that the characters are in, the writers often turn to inculcating emotional setbacks and tried-and-tested tropes that feel a tad bit dragged. Also, the chemistry between Ishaan and Ananya is not one of the most sizzling or believable that we have seen in films in the recent past (there is an awkward kiss, too). Truth be told, the child artists playing their younger selves have a better rapport than these two.
By looking at his dominance in every frame, one can tell that Ishaan has worked really hard not only on getting into the skin of his character but also rendering the nuances right – the perfect rolling of ‘Rs’ while speaking the colloquial slang, the cocky walk of Mumbai’s roadside Romeos and basically just being air-light in action and dance sequences. In peppy numbers ‘Duniya Sharma Jaayegi’ and ‘Tehas Nehas’, Ishaan displays the skills of a trained dancer and also reminds us of a younger Shahid. Even in those Patiala suits and that enormous nose pin pierced on the wrong side, Ananya looks every bit the glam gal that she is. But it is almost impossible to imagine her character Pooja leading a dark and disturbing life in the lanes of the unforgiving Kamathipura. The fact that she is putting an effort is evident, but in this role, she lacks the conviction of a girl with a hard life. Heightening the ‘H’ in hilarious are veteran actors Zakir Hussain as inspector Tawde and Satish Kaushik as dumbo-in-denial inspector Bhim. These two humourists add the right dash of spice to the chase that gets us all restless at times. Likewise, delivering solid performances on the grey side of the line are Jaideep Ahlawat as Yusuf Chikna and, to everyone’s surprise, lyricist Swanand Kirkire as the hung-up aashique Choksi Seth. Ahlawat gets you with his deathly glares and occasional swaying of the hair. And Kirkire is what he is portrayed to be – a lustful, potbellied rich businessman.
Sure, Vishal-Shekhar music gets you grooving but the three songs that are planted in the movie are just there for the heck of it. Lyricists Rakesh Kumaar and Raj Shekhar have interesting and edgy words to offer in the three tracks that they anchor but, like we said, the songs are a bit out of place.
In a nutshell, ‘Khaali Peeli’ has slow-mos and a background score that is faster than the heartbeat of an average young adult and on top of everything, a hot pair leading the show! But it derails every once in a while and you wonder – quite empathetically – why! Then again, if you are missing your regular dose of the larger-than-life heroes on celluloid, ‘Khaali Peeli’ is the turn you take – samazl kaay?

Actor Susheel Gowda died by suicide in his home town Mandya. The exact reason for suicide is yet to be revealed. His death has sent shockwaves across his well wishers, friends, Sandalwood and television industry.
Susheel Gowda, who is over 30 years of age, had acted in the romantic serial Anthapura. Shocked by the death of Susheel, Amita Ranganath, who had shared screen space with Susheel, says,, “I got the news from my friend. I still can’t believe that he is no more. He was such a sweet and soft hearted person who never loses his cool. It’s been very sad to know that he has left us so early. He had the talent to achieve more in the entertainment industry.” Director of the serial Anthpura, Aravind Koushik on his face book page posted "Sad news I heard . Susheel Gowda who played the lead in the tv serial Antahpura that I directed is no more . Rest in Peace."
According to sources, Susheel killed himself yesterday. Apart from acting, Susheel was also a fitness trainer. Susheel was looking to establish himself in the Kannada film industry. He has played the role of a cop in the upcoming movie Salaga which has Duniya Vijay in the lead role.
After hearing the news of the actor’s death, Duniya Vijay on his Facebook page has posted (translated), “When I first saw him I thought he is a hero material. Even before the movie got released he has left us too soon. Whatever may be the problem suicide is not the answer. I think the series of deaths will not end this year. It is not only because of Coronavirus people fear, people are losing faith because they don’t have job which can give them the money to lead a life. It is high time to stay stronger to overcome the crisis.”

Kannada Actor Susheel Gowda dies by suicide
The entertainment industry has suffered another loss as television actor Susheel Gowda died by suicide in his home town Mandya. The actor was at his friend’s house when he killed himself by hanging on July 8. The reason for his suicide has not be revealed by the police yet. Susheel was 32 years old and was a prominent face in acting on the television. He played a key role in TV serial Anthapura and had plans to establish himself as a leading actor in the industry. He also worked as a fitness trainer.
"Though Gowda's body was found hanging in the day in his friend's house at Kiragandur village near Mandya, his death might have occurred on Monday. The body has been sent for autopsy to ascertain the cause of his death," Mandya Deputy Superintendent of Police L. Navin Kumar said.
Susheel’s parents on Monday reported to the police that there son is missing. The police raised an alert to start a search operation. "When Gowda's photo in the complaint matched with his face, we have asked his parents to identify and confirm that he was their son," Kumar said. The police has registered a case of homicide under section 174 of the CrPC.
"Gowda joined the Kannada television serials in 2015 and acted in one or two Kannada films also. As he did not get many opportunities, we are told, of late he was under depression," said Kumar.
A known name in the entertainment industry, Duniya Vijay after hearing about the death of Susheel wrote on Facebook "When I first saw him I thought he is a hero material. Even before the movie got released he has left us too soon. Whatever may be the problem suicide is not the answer. I think the series of deaths will not end this year. It is not only because of Coronavirus people fear, people are losing faith because they don’t have job which can give them the money to lead a life. It is high time to stay stronger to overcome the crisis." Duniya worked with Susheel in his movie Salaga.

via Today Bharat There's no information yet on whether Vijay''s 'Master' will be pushed but several other films have decided to postpone their release dates. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra and a few other state governments across the country have ordered complete shutdown of cinema theatres in their regions amid the spread of novel coronavirus. Among the south Indian states, it was Kerala that first stepped up to the task, ordering the shutdown of cinema halls on March 11. Karnataka followed suit on March 14, first announcing a week-long shutdown and then extending it to March 31, while Telangana made the announcement the next day. In Tamil Nadu, the announcement came on March 16, a day after it ordered partial shutdown in districts closer to its borders. The shutdown is expected to be in place until the end of this month in Tamil Nadu. According to an industry research by Care Ratings, if this shutdown were to be in place for a month, the estimated revenue loss from just the sale of movie tickets would be around Rs. 3,500-4,500 crore across the country. This shutting down of cinema halls has resulted in a big loss for films, especially the ones that were released last week and also for the ones waiting to release in the coming weeks. In Tamil Nadu, three films released on March 13 - the Sibiraj starrer Walter, Harish Kalyan’s remake of Vicky Donor in Tamil titled Dharala Prabhu and the Vikram Prabhu starrer Asura Guru. The week leading up to the shutdown already saw low footfalls and now, with the closing of the cinema halls, the business for these films has taken a serious hit. While actor Harish Kalyan tweeted that Dharala Prabhu would be re-released, Sakthi Film Factory’s Sakthivelan who released Asura Guru, says the situation cannot be helped. “We have no choice other than to postpone upcoming releases. There is no doubt that this situation has affected the industry 100%. Films in the pipeline will be affected. When the situation improves, the number of releases too will increase, creating another problem. The film’s release date has been pushed as of now. Among the films scheduled to release in Tamil during the next two weeks are Prabhu Solomon’s trilingual Kaadan/Aranya/Haathi Mere Saathi starring Rana Daggubati and Vishnu Vishal in lead roles. Eros International, the film’s producer, announced that the film will not be releasing on April 2 as announced earlier, and that the team would come up with a new release date soon. Producer SR Prabhu explains that while the situation looks grim for the producers, those who work in the production of these films would face the brunt of it. “This loss may not make a big difference for producers, but those who work for daily wages in the industry will be hit in a major way. The rotation of money would be a problem for a couple of months. People will have to dig into their savings,” says Prabhu. He continues, “As a generation, we have not seen such a scenario. We should be working on approaching this more sensitively. We should be helping each other and stay careful. We should not be speaking about revenue loss as of now.” Vijay's Master, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is scheduled to release on April 9. As of now, there's no information on whether the film will be pushed or not. Uncertainty prevails in Tollywood, too, as the Telangana government has issued orders to shut down theatres and cancel all shooting until March 21, and this deadline may be extended depending on the situation. Since no one can say for certain how long the crisis will continue, all the producers - small and big - are equally worried about their upcoming releases. This week, Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan's Shakti, the Telugu version of his Tamil film Hero, was scheduled to release on March 20, followed by small budget films like 30 Rojullo Preminchadam, Amrutha Ramam and Orey Bujji Ga. These films were trying to avoid clashes with big film releases like Rana Dagubatti's Aranya (Kaadan/Haathi Mere Saathi) and Anushka's Nishabdam (which was also supposed to hit the screens on April 2) as they would dominate the screens when they release and result in losses for the small films. Speaking to TNM, Telugu Film Chamber Secretary KL Damodar Prasad said that they haven't convened any discussion with the producers about how to schedule the releases. "So far, no discussion has happened over this because of the uncertainty prevailing. Clarity will emerge soon hopefully, then we will discuss how to reschedule the releases in a way which would benefit everyone. It totally depends on how people respond to it. If we can come to a common consensus acknowledging the plight of each other, it would be good,” he said. Echoing similar views, film producer Tammareddy Bharadwaj said that since it's a pandemic, everyone will be equally affected. “It is a matter of survival now, we have to prioritise life over economy. Not just cinema, every other business is facing the same crisis and we are no different,” he added. As for Sandalwood, films like Naragunda Bandaya and Shivaarjun released on March 12 and screenings were stopped due to the Karnataka government's decision to shut down all theatres in the state. Salaga, that marks Duniya Vijay’s directorial debut, was expected to release on March 25 and will now be postponed. Darshan’s most expected Roberrt too will be pushed due to the shutdown. In Malayalam, while Tovino Thomas's Kilometers Kilometers has been rescheduled, Mohanlal’s most awaited Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham too will have to find a different release date because of the shutdown. Famous radio personality Gopal Sharma passed away
💐 Sad demise of Gopal Sharma, Announcer & Compere : a tribute 💐
It is informed by Shashi Sharma, daughter of Gopal Sharma that my father Mr. Gopal Sharma is no more. He left today on 22 May 2020 morning at 8 30 am in Pune.
Hearty tribute to the departed soul of Gopal Sharma.
गोपाल शर्��ा Gopal Sharma born on 28 December 1931 at Chandpur, Distt. Bijnaur (Uttar Pradesh) is a former announcer at Radio Ceylon (at present SLBC). Gopal Sharma joined Radio Ceylon on 24th April, 1956 and served for 11 years. He Left Radio Ceylon on 23rd April, 1967.
Gopal Sharma's journey started at Radio Ceyoln on a bitter-sweet note as the very first announcement somehow went wrong, when Gopal Sharma, out of his anxiety and excitement announced the next song on “Purani Filmon Ke Geeton Ka Kaaryakram” and here the tongue got slipped, when he said now the next song is from the movie Mukesh sung by Andaz, instead of naming Mukesh as the singer for the movie Andaz. The audience of Radio Ceylon didn’t appreciate this mistake but the Almighty was kind enough to him and he survived his own mistake. This made him more alert and agile while doing announcement.
From 1956 to 1967, Gopal Sharma ruled Radio Ceylon, which was aired from Colombo. The man who popularised usages like Awaz ki duniya ke doston, Shubhratri, Shubashish, Bandhuvar and Filmonia decided to bridge the gap between radio listeners & the men behind the mike with his autobiography. Titled, appropriately, "Awaz Ki Duniya Ke Doston", the book has just hit the stands.This 280-page-book in Hindi is an account of how perfect pronunciation and language helped him become a star on the airwaves. It is also a guide for aspiring broadcasters.
Sharma has that charismatic voice that glued listeners to Radio Ceylon. He popularised Hindi film music and instrumentals so much so that once when legendary shehnai player Ustad Bismillah Khan met Sharma, the former kissed his hands saying, "You make crores of listeners listen to my shehnai with these hands."
In Gopal Sharma's words - Once Lata Mangeshkar invited him as she was fan of him and Gopal Sharma could not recognize her as Lataji was in very simple costume. Finally Lataji requested him to listen to her recording to prove. The book is replete with several such instances and makes one realise the power of radio, particularly in the days before entertainment options proliferated. Recalls the veteran, who has interviewed almost all the reigning actors, "My weekly programme comparing the music and songs of old and new times, 'Kal Aur Aaj' (1958-1959) would make the likes of Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor & O. P. Ralhan and many more, write to me. Once Raj Kapoor asked me, 'How do you get so much time to research on topics like how film music was started etc ? I am amazed at the details you provide.' This compliment was enough to keep me going."
It was during the period 1950-54, when Vimla and Kamini Ganjawar were the sole announcers in Radio Ceylon that they introduced the programme, ‘Purani filmo ke geet’ from 7.30 am till 8 am and made it a point to conclude the presentation with a song of K.L.Saigal.
That became a tradition which was continued by subsequent announcers like Vijay Kishore Dubey, Smt Vimal Kashyap, Gopal Sharma, Manohar Mahajan, Chetan Khera, Daljit Singh Parmar and others. At present, the SLBC's Hindi service has been slashed but one programme that has survived till this day is ‘Purani filmo ke geet’. It still begins at 7.30 am and ends at 8.00 am with a K. L. Saigal song. The tradition set by the Ganjawars to play Kishore Kumar’s ‘Khush hai zamana aj pehli tarikh hai’ (film Pehli Tarikh) also continues till this day. Despite short duration of broadcasting of SLBC (Radio Ceylon), still millions of its lover not only from Indian sub-continent but also from many parts of the world are eagerly awaiting and listening Hindi service of SLBC. It (Radio Ceylon) is a daily dose of medicine for old listeners.
