There should be more fics where Dick adopts Duke.

I’ve been doing some calculations and I’ve approximately worked out all of the age gaps in the batfam (apart from Alfred, I have no clue when that guy was born) and the double Ds have around the same age gap as Bruce had with Dick, and that’s a fun parallel.

Just think for a moment, Dukes parents get attacked earlier, he becomes homeless earlier, he meets Dick while he’s still suffering from Jason’s death, he becomes Robin instead of Tim.

Now, there is the whole issue of that making Tim not becoming Robin (and if Tim doesn’t join the family than neither will Steph, which isn’t great) but, Duke has magic. Tim would obviously still be a freaky stalker and it’s much more difficult to hide from someone who can see the future. Steph would still become spoiler cause that never had anything to do with Batman, also, don’t Steph and Duke live near eachother? Like there is entirely the chance that they met pre-vigilantism and could recognise eachother.

Duke being Dick’s kid would also crest some fun scenarios for Damian, who not only has to worry about not being Robin and recognised as Bruce’s kid, he will also have to worry about being accepted by Dick. In cannon, Dami kind of easily (well not easy but you get what I mean) slips Into the role of “Dick’s baby” if he already has a baby than Damian has less of a foot hold on his place in the family.

Also, How tf would Jason’s whole ‘Replacement’ thing work out? Cause Duke wouldn’t be Bruce’s kid, and, Dick actually gave him Robin. Neither Jay nor Tim were really properly given Robin. Duke (and Damian in canon ig) would have more of a right to Robin than either of them. Plus, one of the big hatred things Jason had for Tim was that he was rich, Duke has never been rich.

Idk, I just think this is cool.
