This is nauseating. The French government has banned the wearing of abayas to school. This includes both students and faculty. Teenagers and grown women alike are now no longer allowed to wear one of the few things they have left under strict French laicity laws. If it is anything like the restrictions against hijabs, burkas, chadors and niqābs, this means these women will not be allowed inside a school building with one on, and will be restricted from entering the premises while wearing one.

Unlike a hijab or other headcovering, this cannot simply be removed. Students are going to be sent home and miss educational hours because the government said they cannot wear a dress, because of religious backgrounds, entirely ignoring cultural backgrounds and the fact that it is one of the few things these girls have left to hold on to their culture and faith.

I school in a large city. Over half the women in my classes sport an abaya, because they are already forced their head coverings off at the door in the name of peace and laicity, are forced to give in to Islamophobic, European sentiment, and now they cannot even wear a long dress. Teachers who give up their prementioned garments for the name of educating the youth, now have to give this up as well. The French government also bans burkinis and any sort of modest, covering bathing suit, and has for years, in the name of 'hygiene', instead pushing for speedos and two pieces.

They give different excuses, but it is all the same, and this is the most blatant form yet. This dress has been banned for women and children to wear in school because christians think it shows too much faith. We eat fish on fridays as a nationwide standard, and this shows too much religion. This dress in the eyes of the french government, is anti secularist. This is horrifying, and I haven't seen anything about it on Tumblr yet, but I am disgusted. This is Islamophobia, always has been, and terribly, continues to be.

The Sketchbooks

Just some info for you all, so my tagging system makes a little more sense.

This is a comic that has been almost entirely drawn in whichever sketchbook that I had on hand at the time, sort of unintentionally at first, so of course it'll be a little bit more unorthodox in its... pretty much everything, sure. It's not even drawn in any linear fashion. It's an accidental sketchbook webcomic, going with the flow.

Without further ado,

01: small beginnings April 2017 - June 2017 This sure was where everything started!! Weirdly accurate, too. I swear it wasn't intentional.

This wasn't even a proper sketchbook, it was more of a notepad, and as of last time I went through it, it was falling apart due to the glue literally not holding it together anymore. But yeah - Morten shows up for the first time in this. Bat followed soon after.

02: the pink one June 2017 - April 2018 A lot of firsts in this one - the beginnings of Einarr, Helena and Rune, for example.

And yeah, it came with printed flower and butterfly graphics inside. I just grabbed whatever sketchbook I had, man. And once I had started using one, I was not going to let go until it was finished. No exceptions.

03: teddy bear April 2018- June 2018 Just three months!! Probably because it only had 50 (100) pages in it. but yeah. Speedy bear.

Einarr started becoming a character in this one, going from just being Bat's mysterious sire who died, to this strange old beardless viking who constantly chopped his hair off for some reason. I mean, he definitely still had a way to go before he became... himself?

04: linnanmäki July 2018 - October 2018 Another somewhat speedy one! Bought in Finland, incidentally.

This is also where something resembling longform comics started to form. Some rather significant early characterization happening in this one.

05: moomin October 2018 - April 2019 So just about half a year. A lot of shorter comics in this one. I really love the cover of it.

Not sure what else to say. This one feels like kind of the transitional phase of my books.

06: duct taped spine April 2019 - September 2021 OHOHOH THIS IS A THICK ONE..... This one lasted two and a half years. TWO AND A HALF YEARS. IT WAS LITERALLY FALLING APART BY THE END.

This sketchbook had way too many pages for its quality - it split apart by the time I got to the middle, the spine fell off, it has been absolutely wrecked to bits from my frequent usage and I love it.

So yeah, this one was pretty good. A lot of the longer main stories start in this one. It's also causing me issues when it's the only book here with square pages.

07: the green one September 2021 - November 2023 Two years also, though the speed was a little halted by my bad phone habits and also the way I've gotten increasingly more thorough with my art!

For sure one of my favorites, especially art-wise ♡

By the end, the spine had fallen off, but unlike the previous one, it still wasn't completely falling apart. So that's nice. Around the time it was about to finish, I also drew on its cover - it represents the one story arc that just kinda slowly ran through nearly the whole book.

08: navy blue November 2023 - now

The current one! Same brand and thickness as the previous green one. Will be interesting to see if it ends up being any faster or slower. It has had some good comics so far!

where can you be judged to?

the celestial kingdom! beautiful sunny top tier heaven, for eternal families sealed together in the temple! people who go here are the ones who will supposedly eventually get to be gods of their own universes.

the telestial kingdom. second tier heaven. kinda boring, better than earth and you get to talk to jesus but not god. you go here if you were pretty good but never got sealed with an eternal family. i assume that unbaptized babies and people who were baptized after death also go here.

the terrestrial kingdom. third tier heaven. basically more zion. no jesus or god but maybe angels. i think most people go here.

and finally

perdition! the outer void! eternal suffering! well actually as i was taught, eternal suffering is only for the souls who followed satan out of heaven in the exodus before any of our lives on earth. even if you really really sucked, youd get thrown into the outer void, which to me always meant your soul getting ripped apart by the vaccum of space and your eternal spirit ceasing to exist. you have to be really really bad to get here. even like murderers and whoever get to go to the terrestrial kingdom. so, souls who followed lucifer out of heaven, and people who were allowed to be born but who dedicated their lives to serving satan. souls here are the only ones who will not be allowed to receive the glory of god, even after they are resurrected.

Alright, that's been long enough of a break I think. Amber Hill has been a fun side project, and will continue to be worked on in the background; but I felt for the first time today a longing to return to Lexical.

So, more works to come. I need to follow through on a promise so I think my main focus is going to be hammering out the Lexical Table Top System. That said, no small amount of world building has been re-written so I may post those thoughts here and there. Also I really want to start writing more Lexical one-shot from writing prompts; so hold me to that I suppose.

okay so i discovered my first major limitation of pluug: I/O bottleneck. transfer over ftp sits around 300KB/s while transmission is active, but i paused it and so far it's climbed to 727 and is still increasing at a steady rate.

this is a good example why i'm not using him as a media server, just for the the actual torrenting. like i can manually manage stuff for now but later i can automate transmission's snail mode and provide a window to autocopy anything new over to my NAS/mediaserver
