Do you know about any Mk ultra programs run in Australia or New Zealand?
Here are a few:
University of Adelaide in South Australia-In order to further the scientific and academic study of psi phenomena. This division of the university’s Department of Psychology, named the Anomalistic Psychology Research Unit (APRU) -Aboriginal Australians were subject to medical experiments on how they experienced pain and where body measurements and blood samples were forcibly taken.
Australian National University in Canberra, ACT-Where Leonard G.H. Huxley served as Vice-Chancellor (1960-1967).
University of Western Australia-CIA's Human Ecology Fund gave a research grant to Professor Ronald Taft.
Callan Park (Australia)-Cerebral Surgery and Research Unit at Callan Park Psychiatric Hospital. After his (Dr. Harry Richard Bailey) appointment, the Sydney Sunday tabloid declared in September 1957, “Human guinea pigs in test: A Sydney mental specialist and 15 other volunteers deliberately sent themselves temporarily insane in recent mental research tests.” Bailey was the man behind this experiment at Callan Park. He went on in the article to promote LSD as a hopeful method of treating “mental cases” and said that these experiments would hopefully trace the section of the brain which is affected by schizophrenia. In 1959, Bailey became the Medical Superintendent of Callan Park.
Chelmsford Private Hospital-Became Australia’s worst psychiatric disaster where over 1,400 patients were subjected to hypnotic drugs, ECT and DST in a mostly experimental fashion without informed consent. The entire Chelmsford medical team were previously involved in a eugenics program of forced adoption at Sydney’s Crown Street Hospital for Women where babies were taken from ‘unfit’ mothers and given to mothers deemed more appropriate. A massive 64% of unwed mothers had their babies stolen at Crown Street Hospital. Harry Bailey used hypnotic drugs to make the reluctant birth mothers comply. He directly ordered the abortion of twin foetuses without the consent of a woman who was under the influence of hypnotic drugs.
Concord Military Hospital (Australia)-Leonas Petrauskas.
Crown Street Hospital for Women in Sydney- It was here that they were involved in a eugenics program of forced adoption from ‘unfit’ mothers, to ones who were deemed more appropriate. Bailey had helped to introduce methods of using hypnotic drugs to make them comply. He directly ordered the abortion of twin foetuses without a woman's consent while she was under the influence of these drugs. 64% of unwed mothers had their babies taken at Crown Street.
Engadine Medical Centre (Australia)-Leonas Petrauskas.
Cerebral Surgery and Research Unit at Callan Park Psychiatric Hospital in Sydney-September 1957, the Sydney Sunday tabloid published an article about a Callan Park experiment, headlined: ‘Human Guinea Pigs in Test: A Sydney mental health specialist and 15 other volunteers deliberately sent themselves temporarily insane in recent mental research tests.’
Milson Island in the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney-Became a MK- ULTRA research facility.
University of Sydney, AUS-MK-ULTRA psychiatrist Martin Theodore Orne, performed an experiment titled ‘Antisocial Behaviour and Hypnosis’.
University of Sydney Psychology-Faculty head, Alfred Gordon Hammer, approved Subproject 84. Gordon Hammer (then APS Chair). Professor Martin Orne. In 1960, Professor Orne's work took him to the University of Sydney.
IIE-Financed Fulbright scholarships into Australia and the Institute was founded by Elihu Root (a founder of the Council on Foreign Relations, co-founder of the Carnegie Endowment and a member of the Pilgrim’s Society) and Stephen P. Duggan who was also a member of the CFR and known as the “apostle of internationalism”. USEFA was based at Huxley’s Australian National University during the main years of imported CIA operations.
Cherry Farm Hospital In The South Island Of New Zealand-Between 1973 and 1978 - a version of Deep Sleep Therapy was used in several wards. used electro convulsive therapy or ECT as standard practice. Dunedin prison - who we were told would also undergo deep sleep or narcosis therapy in an especially locked-down unit of the villa. Cherry Farm was the hospital to use deep sleep therapy most; many patients were not given optimal treatment; the specific application of modified narcosis was inappropriate and applied to a large number of patients up to 1978.
Lake Alice Psychiatric Hospital (New Zealand)-Children in the 1970s were tortured with electroshock, including to their genitals, and given injections of paraldehyde, a central nervous depressant as punishment. child and adolescent unit were routinely punished with unmodified ECT (ECT without anaesthesia).
National Women’s Hospital in Auckland, NZ-Herbert Green.

Victoria's first pill testing trial begins at music festival
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/victorias-first-pill-testing-trial-begins-at-music-festival/
Victoria's first pill testing trial begins at music festival
Victoria’s first mobile pill testing service is underway at the Beyond the Valley music festival, south of Ballarat.
The four-day festival runs until New Years Day and draws around 35,000 people to Barunah Plains at Hesse. The Victorian government picked the festival as the first of 10 pill testing trial sites statewide this summer.
At Beyond the Valley, the mobile pill testing service will operate from 1pm to 7pm each day. Punters can attend, provide some information about themselves and a small sample of a drug – including pills, capsules and powders – for testing.
When they return to receive the results, they’ll also get peer-to-peer information about safety, including advice that no illegal drug is truly safe.
If medical staff find a high-risk substance, the service will advise festivalgoers via social media and signage. The festival’s on-site medical teams will also find out about it.
A coalition led by Youth Support and Advocacy Service with The Loop Australia and Harm Reduction Victoria are operating the pill testing service at Beyond the Valley.
They and other harm reduction advocates said the pill testing trial is a big step forward in increasing safety.
“Our drug checking service at Beyond the Valley will test the make-up of most substances,” The Loop Australia’s drug checking director Sarah Hiley said.
“People will receive vital information, confidential health advice, and honest conversations to help them make safer choices.”
Spate of music festival overdoses last summer
The pill testing trial follows warnings from Victorian paramedics about a spate of drug overdoses at music festivals. The state reportedly saw more in the first three months of 2024 than in the entirety of 2023.
Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan announced the pill testing trial at 10 Victorian music festivals in June.
Acting mental health minister Mary-Anne Thomas said pill testing will help Victoria “make safer and better-informed decisions” and reduce drug harm in the state.
The state government will also establish and open a permanent pill testing site in inner Melbourne by mid-2025.
The Australian Capital Territory introduced pill testing in 2022. Queensland followed earlier this year.
The NSW Government also announced plans to begin a trial of pill testing services at music festivals in early 2025.
Experts who gathered at NSW’s drug summit this month warned potentially dangerous and unpredictable “mixed” illicit drugs were on the rise.
This year, for instance, Victorian authorities found cocaine mixed with protonitazene, an opioid 100 times more potent than heroin.
In Canberra, the ACT’s drug-checking service also found a synthetic opioid thought to be 25 times stronger than fentanyl.
‘If it’s dangerous, they chuck it out’
Addiction medicine expert Dr Hester Wilson from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners said earlier this month pill testing has proven benefits.
“What we know from the literature is if somebody has a substance checked and they find out that it’s not what they thought it was, or that it’s dangerous, they chuck it out,” Dr Wilson said.
“If they find out that it’s the substance but it’s more potent, they take less.
“It’s an opportunity to give health-based information around how to look after yourself.
“[This includes advice] on how to make sure you don’t overheat, drink enough water, get enough rest, and have food.
“And not only does that change their behaviour, but it also changes the behaviour, potentially, of their mates who might all have substances from the same source.
“[It’s also] an opportunity to have a healthcare worker interaction and, if it becomes clear that there are issues for the person, to encourage them to seek help.”

NSW to trial pill testing at music festivals in 2025
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/nsw-to-trial-pill-testing-at-music-festivals-in-2025/
NSW to trial pill testing at music festivals in 2025
NSW will begin a pill testing trial at music festivals in early 2025 to reduce risks and harms associated with illicit drug use.
The 12-month trial will be free and anonymous and invite festivalgoers to test a small sample of substances they intend to consume “for purity, potency and adulterants”.
The NSW government said while drug possession will stay illegal, the pill testing trial will grant amnesty to those seeking to check drugs for personal use.
Earlier this month, the state government concluded its Drug Summit. Experts at the summit overwhelmingly backed pill testing as a harm reduction measure.
The government asked for interim advice from the Drug Summit co-chairs on their recommendation on trialling pill testing at festivals this summer.
NSW Premier Chris Minns said the pill testing trial will go ahead with “a clear purpose – to reduce harm and save lives”.
“No parent wants to be given the news that something has happened to their child at a music festival, and they’re in an emergency department or worse,” he said.
NSW Health will consult with the music festival industry and harm reduction organisations to choose the events to include in the trial.
At the pill testing sites during the trial, police will not conduct patrols or searches with sniffer dogs around the area.
Peer workers will give festivalgoers harm reduction advice to help them make informed decisions about their illicit drug use.
However, Premier Minns warned “there’s no safe consumption level of drug use” and taking illicit drugs will remain illegal.
“This trial does not change police powers, and if you commit a crime, you may be charged and prosecuted,” he said.
‘If it’s dangerous, they chuck it out’
Addiction medicine expert Dr Hester Wilson from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners said pill testing has clear benefits and applauded the “long overdue” trial.
[This includes advice] on how to make sure you don’t overheat, drink enough water, get enough rest, and have food.
“And not only does that change their behaviour, but it also changes the behaviour, potentially, of their mates who might all have substances from the same source.
“[It’s also] an opportunity to have a healthcare worker interaction and, if it becomes clear that there are issues for the person, to encourage them to seek help.”
Pill testing trial must start Boxing Day, Greens say
Experts warned the NSW drug summit that potentially dangerous “mixed” illicit drugs were on the rise and more unpredictable than ever before.
This year, for instance, Victorian authorities found cocaine mixed with protonitazene, an opioid 100 times more potent than heroin.
In Canberra, the ACT’s drug-checking facility also found a synthetic opioid thought to be 25 times stronger than fentanyl.
Greens MP and drug harm reduction spokesperson Cate Faehrmann said the state’s summer music festival blitz begins on Boxing Day. She said the NSW pill testing trial must begin that day.
“The Health Minister says the trial could be up and running by ‘early February’. This is too late because most of the music festivals taking place this summer will go ahead without pill testing services,” Faehrmann said.
“Festivals like Lost Paradise, Field Day, and Spaced Out in Byron Bay take place in late December and early January. Along with New Years Eve and the holidays, most of the larger summer festivals have concluded by early February.
“Experienced pill testing services are ready to set up with qualified health professionals within days.
“The services are operating in other states so it’s not that hard to get them in NSW at the time when they’re needed the most.”
‘Ditch the dogs and strip searches’
Cate Faehrmann said the NSW Coroner found that the presence of police with drug sniffer dogs at a music festival entrance had caused the death of 19-year-old Alex Ross-King, who panicked and took all of her pills at once.
“To make music festivals even safer the government must match this trial with ditching the dogs and strip searches at music festivals,” she said.
“Until we end the heavy-handed, zero-tolerance policing tactics in NSW at music festivals, on our streets and in our pubs, clubs and venues, then people will engage in riskier, potentially life-threatening behaviour.”
Police Minister Yasmin Catley said, “This 12-month trial focuses on harm minimisation for individuals considering the personal use of illegal drugs.
“Drug supply remains a serious offence and poses a significant risk to the community.
“Police will not change their approach to drug suppliers at these trial sites. Anyone attempting to supply drugs can expect to be targeted by a police operation and brought before the courts.”

Warning over dangerous high dose MDMA pills in Sydney
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/warning-over-dangerous-high-dose-mdma-pills-in-sydney/
Warning over dangerous high dose MDMA pills in Sydney
Dangerous ecstasy pills containing around twice the average dose of MDMA are circulating in Sydney as Mardi Gras season begins.
The pills have been spotted in a couple of colours and are a skull shape with a “MYBRAND” logo on the back (pictured above).
The tablets found were pink-orange and blue and contained 181 to 216 mg of MDMA. That’s a lot, and high doses have caused serious illnesses and even deaths in NSW.
In a warning this week, NSW Health said a pill’s appearance does not reliably indicate what’s in it.
They’re urging you not to take multiple or higher-dose pills. Don’t mix them with other stimulant drugs, or take them in hot environments like festivals.
Dr Darren Roberts from the NSW Poisons Information Centre said MDMA quantities in a tablet or capsule “can vary a lot, even within the same batch”.
“Hot environments, such as at music festivals, increase the risk of harm from MDMA,” he said.
“Taking a break from dancing, seeking shade, and drinking water are important measures to reduce the risk of overheating.
“It is very important to remember, if you or a friend has taken drugs and feel unwell, you won’t get into trouble for seeking medical care.
“If you or a friend feels unwell, please seek help immediately by calling triple-zero.”
Keep each other safe out there
LGBTQIA+ health organisation ACON also shared the high-dose pill warning as Mardi Gras season kicks off in Sydney.
“As we head into the Mardi Gras period, share this alert with your friends and community to keep each other safe,” ACON said.
“Follow harm reduction advice, know the risks and signs of overdose, and dial 000 if you or someone you know is at risk.
“Look out for each other out there.”

Urgent warning over deadly 'Red Bull' party pills in NSW
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/urgent-warning-over-deadly-red-bull-party-pills-in-nsw/
Urgent warning over deadly 'Red Bull' party pills in NSW
NSW Health has warned of potentially lethal tablets being sold as MDMA but instead containing a potent opioid, circulating ahead of Mardi Gras season.
Three people presented to Sydney hospitals over the past weekend, NSW Health says, after taking as little as half a tablet that they believed was party drug ecstasy.
One patient was admitted to the ICU and has since been discharged home.
NSW Health warns the tablets (above) are an orange/red colour and rectangular shape. The pills have a Red Bull logo and wording and are sold as MDMA (ecstasy).
Testing of a tablet linked to one case confirmed it contained no MDMA at all. Instead, the pill contained nitazene, a highly potent opioid.
‘Red Bull’ tablets potentially lethal
NSW Poisons Information Centre Medical Director Dr Darren Roberts said drugs containing potent opioids such as nitazenes can cause unexpected and severe overdose or death.
“Nitazenes can be as strong, or stronger than fentanyl and may be more likely to impair breathing than other opioids,” Dr Roberts said.
Opioid overdose symptoms can include pin-point pupils, drowsiness, loss of consciousness, slow breathing/snoring or skin turning blue or grey.
If you witness someone with these symptoms after taking drugs, call Triple Zero (000) immediately or seek urgent medical attention.
The opioid-reversing medication Naloxone, available in NSW for free, should also be given immediately if available.
“It’s important people recognise the signs of an opioid overdose early and know how to respond. Taking the appropriate action early can save a life,” Dr Roberts said.
Stay safe during Mardi Gras season
LGBTQIA+ health organisation ACON also shared the “Red Bull” tablet warning and urged partygoers to stay alert and safe during Mardi Gras season in Sydney.
“As we head towards the Mardi Gras period, share this alert with your friends and community to keep each other safe,” ACON said.
“Look out for each other out there.”
