What Are the Career opportunities after qualifying CDS Exam?
We have told you briefly about the career avenues that will open up for you after clearing the CDS exam. We hope this article has been informative for you. Don't hesitate to contact your nearest CDS classes in Thane or other areas for more information.  All the best for your preparations!
If you are looking to make a career in the armed forces and have missed the bus through the NDA route, which only takes in school pass outs, you can still qualify through the CDS exam which is for unmarried graduates, up to the age of 25 (24 for all academies except the Officer’s training academy or the OTA in Chennai). While NDA or the national defence academy is regarded as the most prestigious institute for training officers for the Air force, the Navy and the Army, you can still become an officer by going to any of the academies that recruit through the CDS exam, namely the Indian military Academy at Dehradun, The air force Academy, Hyderabad, Naval Academy, Kochi, Officers training academy at Chennai and gaya. The NDA accepts less than 1% of the lakhs of students who apply every year, and if for some reason you didn't make it, there is no reason to get disheartened. The CDS exam is conducted by the union public services commission or the UPSC twice a year and follows an extensive interview screening after the written paper. The popularity of CDS exam is on the rise with students in Mumbai and if you are looking for CDS coaching classes in Thane and other suburbs of the city we have come up with a guide that will tell you about the career opportunities after clearing the difficult exam.
The Indian army: The Indian army is considered to be amongst the finest in the world, and becoming a member is a matter of prestige for any aspirant. After clearing the CDS you will be inducted into any of the academies and will graduate as an officer ready to serve. The Indian Army entails a lot of benefits like an unmatched lifestyle, exclusive access to subsidized rations, allowances etcd. For many its the lure of the uniform which is enough! Once inside the army you can make further progress in terms of ranks or joining specialised units like the PARA SF.
The Indian Navy: The Indian navy earned worldwide fame for pulverizing its Pakistani counterpart in the 1971 war. You must have heard of names like Captain MN. Mullah who in the highest traditions of the navy made the supreme sacrifice, choosing to go down with his sinking vessel. Once you become a part of the Navy you can volunteer for the submarine unit or even specialised forces like the famed MARCOS.
The Indian Air force: The Indian air force operates some of the most cutting edge machines and the flyboys have served us well in all conflicts. If you are aiming for the skies then cracking the CDS will clear your path to the air force academy from where you can join specialised forces such as the Garud commandos, or drone operators.
The Coast Guard: After the 26/11 attacks, the Indian coast guard has assumed heightened significance and has revamped its infrastructure to a large extent. A career in the coast guard is as rewarding as any of the other branches of the army.
Administrative roles: If you are not cut out for the field you can even take up a host of administrative position within the Army, Navy and the Airforce.
Centre for Defence Careers have successfully trained hundreds of students for careers in the armed forces in its short history. We are a top class coaching facility for the NDA and CDS exams.
