Nishinoya Yuu propped his legs up on the table in front of him, his head resting in the palm of his hand. He listened as his advisors droned on and on about turf wars happening in the city. It should bother him, it is a war he had started. But his mind was on other things.

By other things, that really meant the beautiful piece in a red two piece dress he had his arm around, who was sitting on his lap. Yaku Morisuke. 

The blonde sat tall and proud in Yuu's lap. Why wouldn't he? He belonged to the most powerful man in the city. He should be proud. 

Yuu's thoughts were pulled when the meeting ended. He made no move to stand, finally able to get a little time with his husband. 

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed one of his men eyeing Morisuke. He looked at him, arm tightening around his husband. 

"Problem?" He all but snarled. 

"No sir. Your toy just looks good. Mind if I take it for a whirl?"

Yuu stood up so fast, he accidently dumped Morisuke onto the floor. He'd have to apologize later. He slammed a hand on the chair, next to the other man's head.

"The fuck did you just say?" 

The other man flinched, but held his ground. Yuu was known for intimidation. He nodded at Morisuke, who was now standing and dusting himself off. "Your toy, sir? It looks so pretty in that dress. Wanna know what it's like, sir."

Morisuke's face fell. He hated it when people asked that. He wouldn't service anyone but Yuu. Ever. And most everybody in the mafia knew this. 

Yuu's gun all but leaped into his hand and he pressed it to the other man's forehead.  "You stay the fuck away from Morisuke. Got me?" His voice was dripping with venom, anger, rage. "Got me?!"

Morisuke flinched. Yuu rarely ever yelled, and he hated when he did. He almost reached out a hand to touch Yuu's arm. He was really the only one who could calm the boss down. But he knew it wouldn't help this time. 

The man nodded, scared for his life. Yuu retracted the gun, put it back in his waistband and turned. "You come near him, and I'll kill you."

Then he stalked over to Morisuke, wrapped an arm around his waist and led him out of the room.

The warning wasn’t heeded as well as Yuu had hoped. It was a few weeks after the incident, and Morisuke was on his way from the kitchen to find his husband, wearing a pretty light blue sundress that brought out his eyes. Yuu had wanted a glass of water and some scotch. Morisuke was more than happy to get it for him. He rounded the corner and bumped into someone. 

“Oops! Sorry!” He looked up and his heart sank a little. It was the man Yuu had threatened, with a few other men. He froze then swallowed down his fear. “If I can just get by….” 

“What for, sweetheart?” The man smirked, caging the smaller male against the wall with an arm. “Where are you going in such a hurry?” 

Morisuke put on a fake pout, anxiety rising in his chest. “Daddy said he needed something to drink so….” He held up the glasses in his hands. “I’m bringing him some. Can’t keep him waiting, you know.” Bringing up Yuu had been Morisuke’s last hope at getting by. 

The man laughed and took the glasses from him, handing it off to one of his buddies. “I think he can wait a little longer, don’t you?” His hand came up to grip Morisuke’s jaw, but he ducked under his arm and ran. Or tried to. The other men blocked his path and he shrank back. 

“L-look, Daddy’s gonna be mad if I don’t get back soon.” Another bargaining chip. Maybe they'd let him go then? 

“He’s busy,” the man from behind drawled. He set a hand on Morisuke’s waist, “He won’t notice that much.” He snatched up the smaller male’s wrist and tugged him into another room. He tossed him inside, onto the floor, and Morisuke scrambled back. 

He couldn’t scream. He couldn’t run. He was trapped and these men were going to rape him. He could just feel it. 

Unbeknownst to any of them, a new member happened to be walking by. He peeked into the room, over the shoulder of one of the other men and his face fell. He sprinted back the way he had come and skidded to a halt in front of Yuu, who was studying a map of the city with a few of his closest advisors. 

Yuu looked up with a raised eyebrow, obviously miffed at the fact that he was being interrupted. But his face softened a little when he noticed the younger man was shaken. He opened his mouth to speak, but the young man had him beat. 

“It’s Morisuke-” 

That’s all Yuu needed to hear before he was sprinting down the hall, panic settling in his bones. What had happened to his Mori? Why hadn’t he returned? It didn’t take that long to get water and scotch. 

He only slowed when he heard a soft whimper. “Please….” He instantly recognized the voice. Morisuke. 

He turned toward the door and kicked it open. Morisuke was naked, trapped between the three men as they ravaged his perfect pale skin with their dirty marks. His eyes were squeezed closed and he squirmed, but they didn’t give him much space to move. 

BLAM! 

One man fell, blood pouring from his skull. 

BLAM! 

Another one, dead. 

Morisuke opened his eyes to look at his savior. His heart leaped when he realized it was his husband. He moved to go to him, but the last man had a hold on his wrists. A hostage situation. 

Yuu’s eyes narrowed, his gun still trained on the man. “I thought I told you to stay away from my husband, you bastard. Get off him, now.” 

“Was just playing with him, sir. Look, see how hard he is already?” He reached around Morisuke’s body to his cock. The smaller male stiffened underneath him. 

BLAM! 

The man collapsed on the ground, holding his side, screaming in pain. Yuu walked over as Morisuke’s legs crumbled and he fell to the ground. He scrambled back, out of fear and of shock. He had never seen his husband this angry. 

Yuu stood over the man, chin raised, jaw clenched. “Sick bastard.” His gun aimed for the man’s head. Another gunshot. Blood and brain matter flew everywhere. Yuu glared down at the body for another few moments, then he raised his head, sharp eyes picking up on Morisuke. 

Morisuke’s eyes widened. Blood was splattered on his husband’s face. Yuu had just killed a man, but holy shit, he looked so intimidating and hot. 

Yuu’s face softened as he walked over, tucking his gun away. His fingers worked at the buttons of his black dress shirt. He kneeled beside Morisuke and draped the shirt over his shoulders, hiding his body. 

“Are you all right? Did they hurt you?” His voice was soft, concerned. 

Morisuke felt his body relax and shut down on him. He could barely even shake his head. He flinched under Yuu’s fingers when they massaged over the dark bruises that the men had given him. 

“C’mere.” Yuu hefted up his husband in his arms, heading for the door. 

The gunshots had brought his closest friends, Tanaka, Asahi, and Daichi, to the door. Their eyes widened at the scene in front of them: the dead men, their shirtless boss, and their scared friend. 

Yuu pushed past them and headed for his room. “Burn the bodies. And the dress.” 

Morisuke’s eyes widened and he looked up at Yuu. “But that’s you favorite--” 

“I don’t care. Burn it.” 

The walk back was full of grim silence. Yuu’s grip was tight on Morisuke. He pushed open the door to their lavish room and marched straight for the bathroom. He set Morisuke down on the toilet seat, then started a bath. His rage was starting to settle, only to build as he started to blame himself. 

Morisuke seemed to sense this, because he grabbed Yuu’s hand and squeezed. His husband’s head snapped to him and he gave a weak smile. His body was still shaking. 

Yuu stopped the bath when it was full and he took his dress shirt from his husband. He picked him up and set him in the bath. After adjusting to the water, Yuu began to wash his body, gently scrubbing at the marks the men had made, as if trying to rid the stench of their breaths from Morisuke’s skin. 

This action started the tears. Morisuke’s head lowered and tears dripped down his face into the water. “Yuu, I’m so-” 

“Dont. Just don’t. That wasn’t your fault.” His tone was gentle and kind. “It wasn’t your fault.” 

The rest of the bath was quiet. Yuu let Morisuke cry; it was healthier for him to cry than to make him bottle it all up. When Yuu felt like his husband was thoroughly clean, he helped him out and dried him off. He put the nicest pair of pajamas Morisuke owned and carried him to their bed. 

Morisuke curled into his husband’s side, tears still in his eyes. Yuu cupped his face and tilted his chin up. 

“You’re never leaving my side again.”

HW 1:App Ideas

This idea comes from a Korean drama I watched, but it would be really cool if there was an app where blind people can say something like “hey siri” or “hey alexa” what do you see and when they hold their phone up, the bot will tell you what it sees. for example, if a person was in front of you it will describe their features like “a young lady with long hair is in front of you”. The main goal is to help those who are becoming blind to have access to an outlet so that they can have another eye to see through sound from the phones or watches(like apple watch or something). 

Another idea is to create a new design for the CUNY system. I personally found it very confusing at first and felt like there was too many things slammed onto a page. Perhaps if there was a new design it would make it easier for new students to transition into college or their system. The main goal is to make cuny first, blackboard, degreeworks, much easier and simple for students and teachers to use. 

I was also thinking of an idea to help business owners find more sustainable options to purchase when they’re selling items at the store by linking them to sustainable wholesalers. For example, they can use paper bags instead of plastics. Selling metal straws? Using reusuable packages. (I’m not sure where I’m going with this, but it’s an idea) The main goal is to promote sustainable items and go green. 

I think it would be really cool to create an app where people can easily resell their items at home instead of throwing it out. Having easy access to print out a shipping label and sending it to the post office. Or perhaps have an additional area where if you don’t want these items anymore you can donate it. So perhaps there will be different donating organizations that can. be a part of this app and when they do pick ups, people can easily click buttons to get an organization to pick up old clothes, toys, or maybe good condition furniture that people want to throw out. In addition to this, I was thinking, there can be an area where people can find out about donation sites or food pantries so if they want to go in person or ask someone to come that can work. My inspiration comes from the app Mercari and ebay. The main goal for this is to not waste items that can be purchased by someone else or for it to be donated to an organization that can help those in need. 

This is another idea, and it’s to create a game design app to teach new languages. It would be cool if there are different themes to each language. So for example if we want to learn the Korean language, there would be a lot of drawings/animation/photos of the Korean culture as a background. And you level up by exploring a certain area in the Korea. For the beginning, it would be to teach the alphabet level. So perhaps theres an area to choose a character and enter the game at first. And then there’s “level 1 or world 1″ where you are given a bow and arrow (the character transitions to go back in time and wearing a traditional Korean outfit [hanbok]). the character could have a story line and trying to escape guards and in order to pass that round you have to use the bow and arrow and hit the correct Korean alphabet with the English sounds. The main goal for this is to teach people different cultures, language, and to have fun. 

I remember seeing this thing on youtube where a guy created a chat or something or was it in New York?... I don’t remember but in Japan or South Korea girls/anyone feel unsafe when they’re going home. And so in that chat a group of people walk together with that person so that they feel more safe. I was thinking it would be cool if there was an app like that but I do have some red flags/questions of how do we know he/she/they are not a psychopath or can we trust this person? So, i’m not sure how to incorporate that. Perhaps have people take a mini test that gives red flags about someone if they are suitable for the role and decide whether they are allowed to walk someone home?? Not sure how to go about this idea. 

Another idea is having drones send out packages? I’m not sure if it’s even possible yet but it would be so cool to build upon this idea. Some people may not feel safe delivering packages anymore so what if there were drones to help people send out packages. And I do think this may take away some jobs, but what if we had people working as backup in case something breaks down, emergency landings?? or maybe if someone stole the package. I’m not sure but it would be cool to create a design for this idea. 

Additionally, there’s my idea of creating a design for flying cars. Maybe I’m thinking too ahead for our time. But it would be so cool if we one day have the capabilities to ride a flying car?? spaceship? I don’t know. But it would be cool if the design had a system so that it can tell passengers when a flying bus service is coming? or where they are at? and a map of where they can go. It would be nice if they can order online for a flying ticket?

I was also thinking about electric vehicles. And what if we had an app that indicates where all the electric chargers are? and have people pinpoint certain areas that they believe should have a charger to promote more uses or electric vehicles? Not sure, but just a random idea. 

Perhaps an app that gives you daily doses of (pills?) happy thoughts? I was thinking of the issue of mental health and how important it is. Maybe have happy thoughts and have an area to listen to peaceful music? I was also thinking about incorporating horoscopes, but not sure if it will fit. Or maybe have an app that’s informative about mental health?? Make it an interaction app? Where people can find more about it ? Or maybe turn it into a game where you defeat monsters that are mental health issues? 

Maybe have an app to inform about the injustices going on in their community and how to combat that as a whole community?? This relates to the BLM movements and I also feel like a lot of Asians have become targets and should be taken note by the community. Perhaps have a donation box to communities that need help?

What if there’s an app that allows you to easily rent out a space for your event? My idea is similar to airbnb but it’s targeted more for people who are looking to rent out a place for a party?? or maybe have people who coordinate parties find places easier. I’m not sure if they have anything like this, but I was thinking about it... Or perhaps rent our your car?? Maybe for those who bought a car or have several but don’t use it, they can let others rent their car??? I don’t know haha, I guess that would be similar to Uber but instead of having someone drive the car, you’re driving it. 

Or maybe an app where you can specifically donate or sell your old books?? I know I have a lot of books that I don’t read and want to get rid of. So maybe if there’s something like that it can be used for a better purpose. 

Maybe a travel app? A place for people to talk about the best places to visit or even have a tour guide so you don’t get lost. I was thinking a bit of an airbnb style mixed with bookings.com and yelp. 

Perhaps have an app to help small businesses in the community? An app to search up what to order for food near you or locally. And for the businesses to deliver locally themselves so they get all the profit for the food/tips. I was thinking they can promote themselves for free and only if they want to be promoted more or be on the top list they can be charged a bit? I don’t know, just a thought. I guess this is basically an Ubereats idea, but rather than charging the businesses on the delivery fee, they don’t get that? And have the ability to do that for free??? Or maybe have something similar to Postmates but when it comes to employing people as a driver for delivery, they have to pass certain requirements and not be subcontractors? I think that’s the right term, but basically so that you make sure the driver isn’t a crazy person and so that they are paid equally? I’m not really sure how much drivers get paid but I think it’s not that much??? If we consider gas and everything and the fact that anyone can become your driver, I think there should be requirements. 

Anyways, thank you for reading my random app ideas. All these are literally random thoughts and ideas I’m having. Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Having just finished Tevinter Nights, I have un fucktonne of questions and theories. But, below are a few of the subjects/problems that I can’t stop thinking about.  I’m curious how other people interpret them, or if I’ve missed some critical details, because it seems like there’s some retconning going on.

so, spoiler warnings apply, since i’m about to discuss the Big Doings below the cut.

The most immediately relevant items come from the final story, right? BUT, because of the nature of the characters, I sort of assumed that much of “The Dread Wolf Take You” is a study in unreliable narrators. Can any of the tales be believed after Charter exposes the Bard? Do we move forward assuming the puzzle pieces we’re trying to fit together are the correct ones, or tread carefully on the word of a known liar?

Nothing about the Assassin’s Tale fits the facts we know: 

Meredith’s corpse didn’t actually stay in the middle of the square in uptown Kirkwall. Her remains were taken away to The Black Emporium. (iirc, Varric mentions this in one of the recent comics)

Pieces of her sword (Certainty) were re-forged for Samson to use in service of Corypheus, a sword which eventually passes to the Inquisition.

A shard of the idol continues to exist outside of Meredith’s remains, or her re-forged blade. Depending on worldstates, the shard is either a weapon rune--forged by Sandal and given to Hawke--or it was given to Varric (who then gave it to Bianca to study, I think). 

In the comics, and in a few of the short stories, the fiasco of Fen’Harel’s agent losing the red lyrium “item” is cleverly handled from a lore-continuity perspective. It’s only ever referred to as a “weapon,” which could mean a lot of things, and allows for greater freedom in describing it in later media. Until the Assassin’s Tale, I firmly believed they were talking about Certainty. Now we’re supposed to believe it’s been the magically re-formed Primeval Idol this whole time, freshly revealed (by the equally untrustworthy Mortalitasi) as a go-go-Gadget ritual blade.

So, are the Tales a cheeky narrative lie, or is it all lore retcon? If it’s a retcon... -What ritual could the blade have originally served? -Might it actually be a key, as lots of people have theorized? -Is there really a potion that can melt lyrium? -Does Solas actually have the idol now, or was his entire story a lie to cover the truth that he still hasn’t found it?

Also, uh. . .Can Solas just. . .kill people while they sleep/dream, even dwarves? I mean, he has demonstrated the ability to create a “dreamlike” state for a dwarf Inquisitor. But, this power seems OP, even for him, and narrative reach. Possibly it’s further evidence that nothing in “The Dread Wolf Take You” can be trusted. 1. If the plans for the Fade are already underway, what does this mean for people like Evangeline, Anders, Grandin, and Sigrid, who’re possessed by spirits/demons? It’s possible they’ll be forcibly separated. Those (like Evangeline) who’re only alive because of their spirit, will likely die. Without Justice, Anders might finally succumb to the taint. 

There are probably thousands of people across Rivain and Seheron, and among the Avvar and the Dalish, who’re contentedly hosting spirits. Would these spirits allow their mortal hosts to be harmed by Solas? Or could there be resistance to his plan from the Fade side of things?

Lots of the stories in Tevinter Nights include the theme of outliers breaking ranks from within a seemingly monolithic society: the Ben Hassrath don’t support the Antaam in their campaign, the Venatori and their supporters operate in defiance of Tevinter, the Crows had one of their Talons disrupt a centuries-old pact.

Going forward in the next game, we might see a spirit faction that, for any number of reasons, acts against The Dread Wolf’s plan to sunder the Veil.

2. Why does everyone in this book describe the red lyrium idol as having only two figures, when every depiction of it that we’ve seen clearly shows three? The crowned figure is (if Solas is to be believed) comforting one person, but no mention of the other poor soul, an even more skeletal figure who seems to be missing their left forearm, and is stuck on the other side of the large ring. No love for that dingus, I guess. Very curious.

And no mention of the serpentine shape that surrounds all three of them.

3. The sea is going to be a big part of the next stage of this story. 

-Mythal’s origin has her emerging from the sea. -In “Luck in the Gardens, the 8 Venatori who were tasked with keeping the “formless” monster in its sealed prison each wore a clay amulet depicting a thin four-winged dragon rising above a sea. -“The Horror of Hormak” describes the viscous gray transformation fluid (and the monsters it creates) as stinking of brine. -The Mortalitasi’s Tale includes a reference to The Dread Wolf screaming about the Sea of Dreams. -The Executors appear to be stepping into the action, finally. They are known as ‘those across the sea.’ -Among the murals discovered during Trespasser, there are some that include imagery of flowing water: The Death of a Titan, and  Lifting the Vallaslin -Before ascending to godhood, Ghilain’nain killed all of her creations. . .except the giant monsters in the deepest waters. Lore says “Pride stopped her hand,” which could mean that she spared them because she was too proud of how perfectly-made they were. Or, that an aspect of Pride (as a demon or spirit), convinced her to let them live.

4. I’ve always thought that the painted murals of Trespasser and those completed at Skyhold are actually of a different sort, in a very specific way. Much of the ornamentation, symbology, and iconography that’s used in the various frescoes in Trespasser. . .isn’t found in Skyhold’s frescoes.   My feeling, based on these differences in style, and the uneven quality of the paintings in the Vir’Dirthara, is that the murals in Trespasser have been painted-over. 

-Thanks to Gatsi, we know that the mosaics we worked so hard to complete for the Inquisition were all re-carved by several hands over the ages, making it difficult to get an accurate interpretation from them.

-During “The Horror of Hormak,” Ramesh and Lesha encounter mosaics depicting elven kings and queens, and their subjects. But the mosaics shift and change the longer they stare at them. The scenes transform from a glittering parade of nobility offering succor to their subjects. . .to a death-march of tyrants forcing magical torments on their slaves. 

-In “Genitivi Dies in the End,” our industrious well-traveled Brother is humbled when he discovers an elven tome that depicts the continent of Thedas in superior and, crushingly, more correct detail to anything he’s ever seen. Which means that either the continent has changed dramatically, or all the maps that exist in modernity are based upon a flawed (altered) source.

There’s an established trope of people from all parts of Thedas altering relics in order to change history’s interpretation of them. So, why would the frescoes/murals be any different? I believe that either Solas, or someone loyal to Solas, altered the murals in order to obscure the truth behind them. 

If we believe Philliam, a Bard! (though, again, an unreliable narrator), the Qunari Rasaan disbelieves all of the names attributed to Solas, either by his enemies or himself. As Philliam posits, to know Solas’ true name would be know the best and worst of him, his flaws and weaknesses, and what he’d “failed to be.”

Essentially, I think we’re being misled at every turn. And this leads me to. . .

5. None of the stories in Tevinter Nights expands on the role of dwarves in past and future conflicts. We get lots of new and juicy stuff on Tevinter, Nevarra, mages, elves, the Crows, the Lords of Fortune, even the Qunari. Noticeably and glaringly absent is any mention of dwarves, titans, and how they fit into the unfolding lore.

One of the largest and most influential groups of dwarves in all of Thedas (The Ambassadoria) lives right in the heart of Minrathous. Above ground. Vulnerable to the invading Qunari and Fen’Harel’s agents.

Dwarves are as tellingly absent in this set of stories as dragons were in all the Evanuris revelations.

The one place where those two things intersect. . .is out in the Hissing Wastes, near the Sunstop mountains (which has always sounded to me like the same naming convention as Skyhold).  

Out there, we come across a dwarven thaig, the only thaig to have been built above ground, that pre-dates the first Blight. It’s called Kal Repartha, which means ‘a place where we may meet in peace.’ Paragon Fairel and his sons appear to have built the thaig as a way to escape some huge conflict in the Deep Roads. 

Statues of Mythal’s dragon form are arranged in places of honor outside Fairel’s tomb. As if in protection. 

Fairel was a rune-smith, one of the greatest who ever lived. Mythal might have worked with Fairel toward some common goal, relying on his skills to make devastating weapons, runic keys for hidden places, or repositories of knowledge best kept secret. She might have protected Fairel as a respected friend and ally.

Reaching a little deeper, Mythal may have helped separate the ancient dwarves from the hivemind control of the titans, freeing them to create their own vibrant society, far from the “witless, soulless” existence they lived as drone-like workers. 

(As an interesting aside, Fairel wrote about dragons, proving that dragons, dwarves, and the Evanuris existed at the same time)

It just seems like the root of this unfolding elven lore is the Titans themselves, the life they created in the dwarves and the tangible world, the innate power of their blood, and the knowledge that was stolen from them. Why don’t dwarves feature more heavily in the anthology?

That’s it. That’s my tinfoil haberdashery at the moment. Thoughts? Corrections?

Watch Dogs: Legion Hands-On — A World Worth Exploring

Watch Dogs: Legion follows the series’ established hack-heavy formula, but the new recruitment system adds a refreshing layer of intrigue underneath your run of the mill missions. All of which still have the fun of outsmarting enemies or finding the right angle to solve a puzzle, download a key/file, or wreak havoc from afar. But the most appealing part of Watch Dogs: Legion is finding and recruiting new people. From potential new weapons to lovable characters with fascinating backgrounds and recruitment missions, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by expanding DedSec.

Watch Dogs Legion’s Degrees of Dystopian.Set in near-future London, the bombings DedSec was framed for have led to an authoritarian state in which Albion - a private military corporation - has taken over policing while an intelligence community, led by Signal Intelligence Response Service (SIRS), spies on London’s citizens. In an attempt to clear DedSec, you’re tasked with finding out who is responsible for the London bombings. Villains include Nigel Cass, CEO of Albion, and Mary Kelly, leader of an organized crime syndicate in London. x96 tv box

In keeping with the series norms, Watch Dogs: Legion operates in the extremes of tech-gone-too-far and corporations-up-to-no-good. It’s what I expect, but  as an exaggeration of where society could head, some storylines are more believable and intriguing than others. An Albion security guard making a janky deal to get medicine felt like a natural extension of the current ways governments fail their people, but an evil CEO shooting someone with a room full of high-powered witnesses felt more cartoonishly evil than cleverly dystopian.

Making every character playable is a narrative risk, but it’s one Watch Dogs: Legion seems to pull off based on what I’ve played so far. Those who felt Marcus Holloway’s cutscene persona didn’t match his mid-mission murders may have a hard time buying into the idea of convincing anyone on the street to join what’s publicly viewed as a terrorist organization — favors aside.

The script differences highlight each character as a unique individual rather than a generic stand-in. From the reserved yet no-nonsense attitude of the old lady I added to my team to my recently recruited Albion guard frantically chatting while she drives through London as if to say “Oh my god; I can’t believe I’m actually doing this.”

And at the end of the day, there’s nothing wrong with things being a bit video game-y if the ends justify the means, and in Watch Dogs: Legion they seem to do just that. Playing as anyone goes as narratively smoothly as it can, given the gameplay, and the experience of recruiting randos makes for a joyous open-world experience. android tv box

While there are plenty of new elements to Watch Dogs: Legion, such as ridable cargo drones, the fundamentals are still present. Take over cameras to redirect power, download data, or interact with nearby objects to create distractions or explosions. Distract enemies by sending something to their phones. Or go straight into combat, which leans even more heavily on player choice with enemies only using melee attacks against you until you pull out your gun and decide it’s time for a firefight. This is particularly convenient for those looking to stealth and hack their way through encounters.

My demo dropped me to the midpoint of the game where missions were a routine to-do list of heading from location to location, hacking drones to scope out the area, and then hacking cameras to download access keys or cause mayhem. At this point in the game the ability to cloak enemy bodies was available, allowing for a more aggressive playstyle, with stealth easier to pull off without alerting foes. London’s various buildings, tourist spots, and construction sites made for a fun playground to strategize my way through each gig.

The loop may be familiar, but that doesn’t make it any less fun. As usual, I found that causing destruction without getting my hands dirty was far more amusing than doing stealth takedowns of less than intelligent A.I who have dull walking patterns and are easily lured or distracted. Seeing how many enemies I can kill by stringing hacks to set off carefully timed explosions before I even step foot in a building never ceased to satisfy. If I was spotted, I found it easier to lean on whatever guns I had available than to bother regaining my cover or fighting hand to hand.

Fast travel still exists and some characters even have their own vehicles (often equipped with useful tech), but otherwise there’s good old-fashioned carjacking. A clever, futuristic touch is the option to steal a self-driving car (just look for the icon on the windshield). No driver or passenger punching required!

Driving still feels arcade-y at heart but some vehicles control better than others. The narrower and more roundabout-filled London streets make for a slower, more challenging drive than speeding down San Francisco. Of course, there isn’t much of an immediate penalty for running over lampposts or even pedestrians.

However, upon closer examination you’ll notice that running over someone makes them like you less. Good luck recruiting the person you just hospitalized (still possible! But an awkward icebreaker once they recover). Albion may come after you if they see you commit a crime, but losing them isn’t too difficult as long as you put enough distance between the two of you. Some nice touches include the fact that they can follow you into buildings — your safe house is inaccessible when you’re under pursuit — and if you’re cornered, an electrical device can latch onto your car, rendering it undrivable.

Making Your Team is a Dream.By far, Watch Dogs: Legion’s biggest and most impressive differentiator is the ability to play as anyone. Though getting complete intel on a person (down to their schedule) requires you to upgrade the DeepProfiler by using Tech Points you find hidden in the world. Getting to know them will tip you off to what they’re looking for and unlock their recruitment missions to turn an initial No into a Yes. x96 tv box

The borough uprising system lets you take on missions to empower a borough and give them a more positive outlook on DedSec. Some recruitments will be mandatory as part of the campaign, such as an Albion guard, but you mostly have free reign. If you just want to get the best of the best, DedSec will mark a few people of interest on your map who have been predetermined as good recruits, such as a Drone Expert and Bee Keeper. But you’re also free to recruit whoever is roaming around London.

The first person who caught my eye was an adorable old lady who was looking for some Darts competition. To recruit her, the first step was to go to the pub and play her in Darts, which is one of the most appealing mini-game side quests I’ve ever had the option to do. Hell yes, I want to play this old lady in Darts to get her to join DeadSec! Winning led to her recruitment mission of investigating how her job replaced the 300 workers who were laid off.

I could see this recruitment loop getting stale over time but, during my brief session, I adored every moment of it because I was doing it for my new recruit and my reward was having her there for the rest of my adventure - despite the fact that the mission itself was nothing special.

Unfortunately, she was arrested shortly after being recruited.  Despite previous plans for mandatory permadeath, no one dies in Watch Dogs: Legion unless you opt-in to play with permadeath on. Instead, they just get arrested or hospitalized and locked by a timer. You can go to the police station and potentially get them out early but the easier solution is to just switch to a different operative. Having certain operatives on your team such as Albion guards, police officers, or EMTs will decrease your time in jail or the hospital.

A Dynamic and Diverse Group.Each character has their own loadouts, perks, professions, personalities, and backgrounds. Weapons and tools are shared across your team and can be swapped, but there are some gadgets and guns that are locked to certain types of recruits.

Uniform Access allows for certain characters to enter restricted areas more easily. So walking into a construction site as a construction worker means I can more freely walk through the area and it takes longer for enemies to detect my presence. However, they can still realize I don’t belong there so it’s not an instant win.

My assassin had a slew of powerful guns at her disposal but the graffiti artist had a paintball gun and would spray folks in the face after executing a takedown. Even across folks from the same background there’s some level of variation. android tv box

For instance, one construction worker will have a different set of tools than another.There were some rough edges in the build I played. When characters are defeated the animation looks a bit goofy, and there are some questionable drivers. But some of these may be cleared up by launch. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Watch Dogs: Legion and grew attached to the different characters, their arsenals, and their sparkling personalities. The lack of a primary main character doesn’t detract from the story. Instead, it incentivizes exploring and immersing myself in a world I otherwise may have ignored in favor of mainlining the story.

Watch Dogs: Legion’s gameplay follows the established formula of hacking devices to accomplish your task at hand with the option to go in guns blazing - though it’s the less enticing route when you have plenty of gadgets at hand and drones overhead.
