yknow what. dinosaurs your black butler.
first up we have the phantomhive manor. (tanaka will be added later i might have forgotten him but he’s a fukuiraptor)
Tumblr media
Sebastian Michaelis - Allosaurus
Sebastian Michaelis is an Allosaurus that is slightly larger than most others of his kind. He follows around his Young Master Ciel Phantomhive. His much larger size than his Young Master causes Ciel silent rage, there is no good reason the demonic Allosaurus he has following him around should be larger than him. His sleek form allows him to be fast and charming to those around him.
Tumblr media
Ciel Phantomhive - Eotyrannus
Coming from a long line of Tyrannosaurids, Ciel Phantomhive may appear smaller than his father and aunt, but makes up for this size in his ferocity. His mother gave him her dromeosaurid genetics, allowing the boy to be extremely cunning and knowledgeable. Under his eyepatch he has bright purple scarring from Sebastian’s contract, causing many nobles to whisper about the young earl has to hide.
Tumblr media
Mey-Rin - Yutyrannus
Despite her oversized glasses and inconvenient clumsiness, Mey-Rin is a deadly force to face. Her feathers and thin build allow for her to best fast and skilled with her claws and teeth. She is a force to be reckoned with, when needed.
Tumblr media
Finnian - Majungasaurus
With a thick skull and strong upper body strength, Finny makes up for his very short arms with is ungodly ability to carry or push anything and everything at his own convenience. Even Sebastian would fear having to fight the boy, one knock from Finny’s head would be enough to split any dinosaur’s skull wide open.
Tumblr media
Baldroy - Albertosaurus
How the hell does a Dinosaur smoke, You may ask?Not going to lie, I don’t know. Baldroy just does that shit. Originating from America, Baldroy is a pyromaniac who can’t stop himself from burning anything and everything, be it walls, enemies, Sebastian, he does it all. I think he does birthdays, or at least he did before he burnt Finnian’s cake to a crisp trying to light the damn candles.

Note
do you think some large bolosaurids could have filled the niche of dromeosaurids in the Permian?
Tumblr media
I doubt this, bolosaurs, as far as we know, were high fiber herbivores and were nested within a larger group of exclusively herbivorous animals.
Animals like Eudibamus were probably the gazelles and rabbits of their ecosystems.

Hey, so I just wanted to write this here in case anybody is interested. But the idea came to mind about terms that people might be interested. (o≧▽≦)ノ
Therianthrope as we all know means "someone who identifies as non-human animal". Whilst otherkin is a broader term that includes non-human beings, creatures and animals.
Therianthrope is also a seperate term that originally means a person who can transform into an animal. Which has always been a bit bizare to me, and misleading to those who don't know our definition of it (community wise).
Preexisting terms i obviously didnt come up with myself are;
- Paleotherian : those who identify as prehistoric species of animals.
- Theriomythic : those who identify as mythical creatures and animals.
Tumblr media
I came up with Arthrotherian, or even Arthrothrope, meaning someone who identifies as an animal that falls under the arthropod biological classification.
Others I thought of, for the fun of it, (keep in mind this isnt a big thing im trying to create. It's truly just all for fun), are;
- Avianthrope : Those who identify as avian animal species like birds.
- Aquarianthrope : Those who identify as aquatic species like fish, marine mammals, eels, jellyfish, squids, etc.
- Mammalianthrope : Those who identify as mammalian animal species.
If you wonder why I don't specify as small as felidaethrope or canidae, its just cause it would be like saying catkin or dogkin. Altho still easy to use. I mean, thrope imo is nicer sounding than kin (っ-_-)っ
Anyways this is in no way intended to be all that serious. Just fun thoughts i wanted to share. I consider myself a cat therianthrope and centipede arthrotherian! And often question being a dromeosaurid paleotherian. Words are fun to use to identify ourselves. Although i often say its never necessary. Just exist.
Nevertheless... its fun! So.. σ(o・ω・o)

While looking on Tumblr this morning, I found an interesting post that had an article about the dinosaur above, Dromaeosauriformipes rarus. It was a South Korean dromeosaurid the size of a sparrow, that based on fossilized tracks, it is believed by scientists to have used a movement called flap running. When Dromaeosauriformipes rarus used flap running, they used their winglike arms to somewhat fly for a short period of time, allowing it to have long strides that were faster than regularly walking or running.
This was very interesting to me, and I thought I’d try making an art piece of it, but I think I could’ve done better. Some of the things that needed improvement to me included a better sense of ground in terms of foreground and background for the dinosaur to be flap running on, and besides some of the anatomy being wrong, I think the colors could’ve used the most improvement.
But, here’s a neat little piece of artwork, hope you enjoy.

Round 1A OC info cards: Jason (Jay) Peters
Tumblr media
Information: “He was born in a small-ish town in upstate New York before he and his parents moved to NYC when he was really little, about 5-ish. Ever since he was a kid, he has been obsessed with dinosaurs, specifically dromeosaurids. He never really fit in at school and struggled with bullying for most of his life. His parents weren’t too much help, and he grew further and further apart from them as it seemed they couldn’t really give him the time of day. And yet, they always wanted him to have the perfect grades, join clubs, etc. He joined the parkour club at his school and that was his main form of escape from life in general. When he was 16, he tried to come out to his (unknown to him,  extremely homophobic) parents as gay, but they were disgusted and ended up kicking him out. Lo and behold, that was the same day as the Kraang invasion. Them kicking him out of their apartment was what saved his life. He made it a few blocks down the road, trying to find shelter from the event, when he heard a building collapse and he discovered it was his own apartment building. His parents were crushed in the debris. He lived at the NYC Invasion Relief Center (Made up for my story lol) after that, for he had no sustainable income to rent a place to live). A few months later when everything calmed down, he managed to get an internship at the Museum of Natural History through his school. He worked there for a few months before he was but by an Oozesquito while working on a Utahraptor skull for a new display, and was mutated as such. He runs in fear after authorities are called, and meets the turtles on the rooftops of Times Square. After a brief misunderstanding that he was a new Villain of the Week, they decide to take him to the lair and help him. Later on after a fun little adventure, Splinter allows him to stay for as long as he wants (behavior permitting ofc), and the turtles are given the chance to test their own training in the form of teaching Jay how to be a ninja.”

Ngl I'm mildly obsessed w/ you at first glance. I love paleontology but have kind of fallen off the train in my knowledge over the years and I love queer people being into it as well.
Anyways, do you have any interesting perspective or rambles on newer theories regarding dromeosaurid pack hunting? From what I understand there's been a general scientific consensus that it was less coordinated than previously depicted, and that it was more groups mutually hunting in opportunistic ways as opposed to coordinated behaviors that we see in modern wolves and such.
Year, that is the consensus. It arose from an isotopic study on Deinonychus showing that the young were eating different food to the adults, so the adults were not feeding the young. The theory put forward from here was that dromaeosaurids were not living in family groups, like wolves do, but that adults would form loose 'mobs' to take down larger prey, like Komodo dragons do. My personal stance on this is that it might not be as clear cut as the theories would make out, and the way that dromaeosaurids hunted together may have no modern analogue at all.
Also please stay mildly obsessed with me. I'm very sexy and silly and queer and more of an attention whore than i'd like to admit :3 Thank you. grins
