Hi Frosty!!!! I just saw you had requests open! Is this true?
If so.... could I please have a brief....Hunter reaction to an accidental seeing reader in a wedding dress? I'm a sucker for this and will reread this trope over and over redone.
Thank you â¤ď¸ and it's ok if not, just discard this then! Love your writing!
Alignment Events [Hunter x Fem!Reader]
Warnings and Information: You and the tattooed sergeant of Clone Force 99 have caught unexpected feelings for one another towards the end of the Clone Wars following a chance meeting in the middle of a friendâs special night. Following the end of the war, your friend has chosen to get married to her soldier sweetheart on her adoptive home world of Naboo. You and Hunter are attending as part of the happy coupleâs wedding party right around the time your feelings have gotten a little more serious for each other. While being involved in the preparation means there could be a fair amount of rumination on the future of your relationship, what you donât expect is how much a fun bit of playful dress-up could end up changing your life. Second Person POV, undescribed Fem!Reader. Republic Victory AU (so no Order 66). Limited Mandoâa (pet names and familial terms). Minimal Star Wars and real-world swearing. Reference/allusion to alcoholic beverages. Iler Ci is an OC who serves as Readerâs friend for the story. Narrative and stylistic use of italics.

Call it what you like - the Force, an alignment of the planets and stars, maybe fate - the galaxy had a funny way of bringing people together.Â
Meeting someone special in the middle of the Clone Wars had been an unexpected but pleasant happenstance. It hadnât been in your immediate plans to make any changes to your dating status, but the first time you crossed paths with Sergeant Hunter of Clone Force 99 amidst what would later become a celebratory night out with some friends, there was something about him you simply couldnât resist.Â
A busier night than most, clumsy encounters and a spilt strong drink were to be expected. Trying to cross from one end of the cantina to the other, one did a fair bit of running into happy couples and hopeful romantics.
Hunter had been neither.Â
There had always been the fleeting flirts and flings, but never anything serious and steady for either of you. There were no qualms about dating statuses, feelings of loneliness or even the emeralds of envy while in the company of partnered people.Â
Not until the night you met.Â
It would be a chance meeting. You and several friends were meant to be working, but the soldier sweetheart to a mutual friend had reached out and asked for help planning a special surprise earlier that morning. It would mean losing shifts and owing favors due to the last-minute nature, but hearing what he had in mind, you and your friends were willing to do anything.
Lane was a pilot in the Grand Army of the Republic, and had been in a long-distance yet serious relationship for some time now with your friend, Cici. They met while Lane had been on an assignment near Naboo almost a year ago. Emboldened by some of his brothers, heâd tried asking her out after a helping or two of liquid courage, but it must have been stronger than he anticipated. Lane maintains that while he recalls her politely declining the first request, he has no memory of her agreeing to get some food instead, or how she had apparently âhelpedâ him back to the barracks.Â
In the morning, he would find a note, and only then in his sobered state would he realize the Pantoran woman he had been trying to charm all night was none other than Iler Ci. For all her humility and generosity, many would not suspect that she was the heiress to a well-known family of artists on Naboo, by whom she was adopted and raised after her birth on Pantora.Â
Thanks for a nice dinner and lovely company, Lane. Perhaps, if you ever remember where to find it while youâre still here, we can go to that Pantoran place you recommended? :) - Iler âCiciâ Ci (PS: Donât forget to take something for the headache.)
Though he would be reassigned before they could have a more proper date, Cici and Lane have been smitten with each other since.Â
It would be in front of a full house at 79âs that you and your friends helped Lane propose to his sweetheart, mere months before the end of the Clone Wars. It had never been so loud within the bar as the moment the pilot dropped down on one knee in front of his brothers and other patrons to present Cici with a ring someone had fashioned for him that very morning.Â
Soldiers in deployments of every color cheered for their brother when she agreed to marry him, and had drawn in from every corner to congratulate them. Marriages among Clones were less of an officially recognized thing, at the time, but Lane had been too eager, too deeply in love to care. The same could be said for Cici; it would not matter that it would only be another few months before the war was inexplicably over.Â
Among the last to offer congratulations were five men, each of them clad in grayscale, non-standard armor accented in red.Â
Standing ahead of the rest, a man somewhat shorter than Lane approached and put his hand forward. âGood to see you again, Lane. I came to offer our congratulations on behalf of the Bad Batch.â His handshake seemed quite firm. The four men behind him offered their respective greetings after that - two waved (one half-heartedly) while another merely nodded, and the fourth offered the only other handshake, even firmer than the firstâs.Â
In spite of having most of the feeling squeezed out of his hand mere moments ago, Lane was almost excited, arguably starstruck, by who had come to offer their congratulations to him and Cici. He would make eager introductions to everyone.Â
âThis is Sergeant Hunter, Tech, Echo, Wrecker and Crosshair of Clone Force 99. Theyâre the ones who helped us pull off that crazy rescue mission two months ago!â
Quite honestly you missed most of the short conversation between Lane and the sergeant as the other four went down the line and got everyoneâs name; exchanging nice to meet you!-s with varying degrees of enthusiasm and politeness, shaking hands as they went. At the other end of the line, you were the last to personally greet each member of the squadron.Â
Introductions had been going smoothly until it came time to shake Hunterâs hand. Feeling somewhat caught under umber brown eyes, you inexplicably tripped while taking that half-step forward to better shake his hand. To your great fortune, Hunterâs reflexes were sharp; though it proved to be a slightly embarrassing methodâstrong arms laced across your back that brought the two of you chest-to-chestâyou were caught before you would have been seriously hurt.Â
You could only offer a stammering apology, your composure rather rattled as you all but gawked up into the skull-tattooed face of the sergeant. There was a gentleness to the way he eased you off his chest only once heâs certain youâre unharmed, a softness in the way his aquiline nose bunched as the corners of his mouth turned up in a warm smile.Â
In a voice smokier than the alleyway behind 79âs, he made a small joke in hopes of lightening the mood. âSo long as youâre alright, thereâs no need to be sorry about falling for me, meshâla. Iâm rather flattered.â Itâs nothing you havenât heard before, but the level of confidence and self-assurance he has came as a surprise at the time.
Flirting came with the territory at 79âs; passing advances were to be expected now and again from the GARâs soldiers by Coruscantâs diverse nightlife. But you found yourself especially charmed by the sergeant.Â
It would only be the beginning.
Though he may have been the one to make the joke about you falling for him, the truth was Hunter found himself equally smitten with you. He couldnât get you out of his head. Comm numbers had been exchanged, but a bulk of the communication was done through Lane for the first few weeks following that special night at 79âs.Â
It was becoming increasingly obvious that Hunter was trying to keep you closer than just the periphery of his life; it isnât every day that Lane finds himself telling you that heâs pretty sure Hunter went out of his way to get a bottle of your absolute favorite body fragrance from a crowded Outer Rim market because he recognized it by smell alone (and heard a rumor it would be discontinued on Coruscant soon).
âHe must really like you.â
A month out from the end of the war, there is plenty of accumulated evidence that things are looking a little more serious between the two of you. The near-daily electronic exchanges are a good start. But itâs more than that, of course. Your respective companions have been privy to plenty of instances where youâve thought about the other, and not to mention the interactions outside of the healthy helping of mutual flirting.Â
Like the night you had asked Hunter what his favorite mission so far was, his brothers sent you multiple pictures of himâall from different angles, all varying in qualityâaround their tiny attack shuttle, working on his response for at least an hour or more. Bathed in the blue glow of his datapad, smiling softly to himself.Â
Or the time you were enjoying a night in with some friends when Hunter would make a near desperate request for holofilm recommendations. They had strict orders to wait out bad weather before returning to command, so they were looking for something Tech could âborrowâ in the meantime. There had been much hemming and hawing about certain types of media in the recommendation list you were compiling for him, but your friends gave you encouragement to include them.
âPromise you wonât laugh if half of itâs for kids?â
âPromise. My vode, too.âÂ
Hunter may not have understood what it was about those movies that appealed to you right away, but he kept his promise, and filed the list away for another time, putting it to use later.
A month out from the end of the war, he asks to meet you at 79âs the very same night he and his brothers are due to be planetside. They have some important, short-term business they have to take care of; itâll take a day at most. It could be his only chance to see you in person after all these weeks of long-distance communications. To great delight, you have agreed to meet him once you get off work, so long as he doesnât mind that youâre in your work uniform.Â
You could have worn a full sleep set for all he cared, he would be just as glad to see you.
Youâve beaten him to the bar by a matter of fifteen minutes, finding yourself lucky with skylane traffic for a change. Taking advantage of your extra time, you first make use of the ladiesâ refresher, cleaning up your hair and any makeup applied that morning before settling in to wait for him. Securing a two-person table, you wait out any remaining time by glancing over a few personal messages. It wonât be long before Hunter meets up with you.Â
Pay stub. Spam. Spam. Coupons. Work reminders. Delivery notice. Ooh, good coupons! More spam. Cici and Laneâs wedding plans.Â
Intrigued, you open the mass message and begin to skim. The happy couple is thinking of tying the knot somewhere large enough to include everyone, having had some concerns that a marriage office here on Coruscant would prove too claustrophobic. Instead, to make sure no one is left out, theyâll be using property within Ciciâs family - a charming lakefront villa on Naboo.Â
You donât get any farther than that before Hunter turns up, brothers in tow.Â
Uh oh. Should you have gotten a bigger table?
Before anything can be done, Hunter takes the opposite seat at the table, followed by Wrecker and Tech. They each say hello before the latter carefully begins tipping a few small packages and envelopes out of the formerâs pack onto the table. Two small, neatly wrapped packages and a handful of envelopes arenât a lot of items, but itâs certainly more than you expected. Once everything is laid out on the table beside your bag, Wrecker offers encouragement over his shoulder as the two of them quickly take their leave.
âHave fun, Hunter! Youâll do fine!â
The sergeant must be nervous. Tugging the crimson cloth keeping the curtain of brown curls off his neck and out of his face, Hunter clears his throat before doing his best to flash you a smile, carefully setting a third package on the tabletop.Â
âThanks for agreeing to meet me here on short notice, cyarâika.â More tugging, this time at the neckline of the bodysuit under his armor (which appears to be glistening) catches your eye. You gloss over the Mandoâa for sweetheart and darling for the moment realizing he must have quickly wiped down his full kit before meeting you here.Â
He not only called you sweetheart, but he cleaned up for you? Aww.Â
You chuckle softly. âOf course! I see Iâm not the only one who brought something either.â You pull your bag closer, wishing for the moment you had time to wrap any of it. It wonât matter. Hunter appears surprised to hear you have something for him, and offers you the chance to go first, if youâd like. You accept, reaching into your bag to pull ten identical items out. Two are offered to Hunter. âThese are for you. I have more for your brothers.â Special micro-weave cleaning cloths from an electronics store are all you have to offer currently, your less practical gifts are either sitting in your apartment or still out for delivery.
Hunterâs nervous energy dissipates as he smiles, dumbfounded. âGuessing you got these for us because we ran out? That was⌠rather kind of you. Really.â Rubbing the back of his neck in thought, he debates which of the items on the table you should open first. Should he give you the largest package, the one carefully balanced on his knees under the table? Should you start with something small, and leave the best for last? (He should have asked Tech what the best way to do this kind of thing was while they were still at the Marauder. But then again, Tech was busy wrapping everything in old schematic papers.)
Maybe it didnât matter. Come to a decision, Hunter nudges the pile of envelopes closer to you. âStart with these,â he says. âMy brothers got these for you.â Hunter knows heâs made the right call when your immediate response is a surprised âReally?â paired with a smile brighter than the twin suns of Tatooine.Â
You carefully open one of the flat sleeves to find several stickers and a note inside. The short note is from Tech, explaining heâs taken some inspiration from ânat-bornâ trends seen on the holonet and everyone has found a handful of stickers you could use to decorate computer terminals or water canisters.Â
The conclusion and postscript make you smile before you set the note aside and look over the modest assortment of stickers heâs given you.Â
They are waterproof and weather resistant, so they should last quite a long time. We hope youâll enjoy them as much as weâve enjoyed the process of you and Hunter getting to know one another. Postscript: I hope the butterflies will suffice since I was not certain if you have a favorite insect.
You see evidence of how much Hunter has shared about you in the types of stickers each of his brothers have collected for you. Techâs butterflies are mostly in your favorite colors. Echoâs given you stickers relating to places youâve been, and planets you have an interest in seeing one day. Wreckerâs envelope is the heaviest out of the bunch; his collection showcases popular characters from your favorite novels and shows, and a few stickers of your favorite snacks have been added for good measure. (The sticker that says âMake today a BLAST!â with a rough depiction of a thermal detonator is probably your favorite from him.) And finally from Crosshair, you were given a few generic yet nice designs of animals youâd discussed early on with Hunter.
The entire spread is swept into their respective envelopes once everything has been looked at, at which point you make sure to thank Hunter at the very least. You trust him to pass along the sentiment for you in case you donât get a chance to speak to the rest of Clone Force 99 tonight.Â
It was sweet of them to get you anything at all. You certainly didnât expect it. When you agreed to meet with the sergeant you had really only expected one little token from their travels at the most, only possibly wrapped; nevermind three from Hunter alone and all of them wrapped.Â
One thing was clear: Hunter really likes you.Â
Between chilled drinks and appetizers, more alignment events occur as the two of you have an enjoyable night using the limited time available. Quite honestly, most of what you talk about goes by in a blur between each package you open. From one such parcel, the face of a favorite character from one of the holofilms previously recommended to him peers up at you in soft, fabric form. You recognize this rendition as one you already own, but you see that itâs been customized.Â
Added in thread, little details that are not typically included in merchandise have been sewn in with such care to make the character more screen-accurate. Â
âWow⌠This mustâve taken a long time.â
Hunterâs chuckle is warm. âFor me, yes. Fortunately itâs just an afternoon or two for Crosshair.âÂ
âHe did a really good job. I have one just like it at home, but I like this one a lot more.â
Thereâs some congratulatory commotion from the booth where his brothers are sitting nearby, among which you hear an excited âdid you hear that?!â from Wrecker. Hunter waits until theyâve mostly settled back down before encouraging you to open the second of the three packages, watching as you carefully tear back the wrapping. What you find inside thoughtfully ties into one of your hobbies, made from recently-carved wood. Itâs a material not-often come by in the jewel of the Core Worlds, so the rich, earthy smell catches you off-guard, adding to your amazement.Â
âI made this one myself.â He seems quite proud. And he should be.
Made with his own vibroknife, Hunter has given this gift a lot of care and attention. Wide, curious eyes trace the patterns of swirling grain as you repeatedly turn it over in your hands to admire from every angle. Everything had been sanded smooth, eliminating any stiff edges left by the process of whittling and carving.
You smile appreciatively before finding something to say. âI hope you didnât get many splinters for all the trouble this mustâve beenâŚâ
Shoulders bounce in easy-going fashion.Â
âA few. Nothing too bad.âÂ
Thatâs relieving to hear. âIâd feel bad if you went through all this trouble for me and ended up hurt.â
âAnd if I thought you were worth the trouble?â
Hunterâs question has left you stunned, dropping a delicate hush over the table. Hearing youâre worth the trouble - the possibility of pain - is a sincere sentiment you have not heard outside your social circle in quite some time, perhaps even longer than you realize. Feeling now is the right time, Hunter surrenders the last of the packages to you, the one he has been carefully guarding throughout the night. âI hope this is enough of an answer.â he says by way of answering your unspoken doubts.Â
An answer that carries you through the months to come. Itâs a soothing balm to the long distances apart before the war finds an end, and fuel for the even longer nights after. Every time doubt had crept in and questioned the validity of what you have with the sergeant clad in smoke-gray armor, you returned to the note taped to the bottle of perfume to reassure and reaffirm.Â
In a promise more precious than pearl or priorite, your relationship will only ever move as fast as youâre comfortable with when Hunter asks to make things official.Â
No amount of playful pushing will change his resolve when friends, family and brothers find themselves gathered on Naboo in preparation for Lane and Ciciâs wedding some months later.Â
Thereâs a fair bit of work to be done to get the lakeside villa gussied up for the big day, but with everyone pitching it, itâll be over before you know it. Thereâll be plenty of time for pre-wedding activities before it comes time to tie the knot. After a week of steady progress, thereâs only one room left at this point.
One of the largest rooms on the property, Ciciâs art studio overlooks a large, glimmering lake, so it should make for the perfect place to serve as the wedding hall once everything has been cleared out. Itâs probably double, maybe triple, the size of an average apartment on the surface level of Coruscant, crammed with all manner of art supplies. Ignoring the fine layer of dust and disorganization, it feels akin to standing in an art store once Cici has unlocked the studio door and let everyone inside.Â
âI guess my parents never used my studio while I was away. That means thereâs more in there than I thought⌠But! Between all of us, this shouldnât take too long. A day at most, Iâm sure!â
Wrecker matches her enthusiasm. âThatâs the spirit, Ms. Ci!âÂ
The workload is divided among the fifteen or so people who made it to Naboo ahead of time as equally as possible. You and some of Ciciâs other friends from work would find yourself spectating the clean-out if you let the men of the GAR get away with it. Theyâre certainly efficient, and have made a real art of talking and tidying up at the same time, too. Any messing around is kept to a minimum, but the conversations are plenty playful as teams take boxes and crates full of studio items to temporary storage.Â
Wrecker and Echo are joking with one of your coworkers as canvases (some as tall (or taller) than the demolition expert) get shuffled into the hallway. One of Laneâs fellow pilots has volunteered to help Tech pack the various paint tubes by general color. And though you could easily move things off of the high shelves on your own, with Hunter holding the rolling ladder steady, Crosshair will not take no for an answer and insists upon helping you dust everything down.Â
âIt will be safer to pass them down to me.â The fourth word escapes in a soft hiss, toothpick rolling with building irritation. âI donât like the look of the fourth rung.â
It was a little wobbly when youâd climbed up the ladder, hoping to spare Hunterâs heightened senses from the dust⌠âMind dusting them down for me, then?â Cross takes a decorative box set from you without a word, offering only a nod.Â
âThank you, Crosshair.â
âDonât mention it.â
As a team of three, you make steady progress. Hunter braces the ladder while Crosshair takes care of the larger items, leaving you to take care of the shelves and any smaller items. You would prefer to focus on getting this done as quickly as possible, so you leave the talking to the brothers. Brushing down a decorative bust, the marksman tries getting under the sergeantâs skin with a sarcastic smirk. âTaking notes for later, vod?â A sweeping gesture to bring attention to all the wedding prep is pointedly ignored as Hunter pretends not to hear the teasing question.Â
âYou missed a spot, Cross.â
Maker, he loves you, make no mistake. Hunter is content for the time being to take all the time the galaxy gives him with you, for the time being.Â
But itâs too early to be thinking about marriage for him, he tells himself.
Maybe one day.
When the last of the crates full of various odds and ends have been moved into storage, and any paint splatters have been scrubbed from the floor, all that remains for the happy couple and their wedding party is waiting for the big day. Time is idled away with plenty of sightseeing and general merrymaking, everyone forging new memories together in the welcome wake of a three-year war.Â
Perhaps the most exciting of these pre-wedding events was Ciciâs final dress-fitting, for which Ciciâs mother invites you and the rest of Ciciâs mutual friends into the studio late one evening, when the sky has turned dusky and dark. Large changing screens have been brought in for the fitting, and curtains have been drawn over most of the curtains that overlook the lake.Â
As Cici and her mother duck behind one of the opaque dividers, most everyoneâs attention is given to something off in the distance, likely a first time for many. The elaborate structure, another Nabooian villa, glows brilliantly on an islandâs lakeshore in the twilight.Â
âWe were hoping everyone would get to see it lit up. Thatâs Varykino Villa. Isnât it beautiful?â Cici swoons over the sound of rustling and shifting fabric. âBefore a family friend gave my parents this place, he told us he spotted a private wedding on Varykino Island while looking across the water one day. That was, what, almost three years ago, mom?â
Mrs. Ci hums in confirmation. âBefore he completely lost his eyesight. It was already starting to go, then, but he was pretty confident the man and the woman were alone, aside from the officiant. A golden protocol droid and a blue astromech were all they had for witnesses.â The last of the zippers are fastened as some speculate on the unusual choice in witnesses, and Cici steps out from behind the divider to a wave of fawning awe.Â
Wreathed in a flowing dress, Cici looks like a princess with her long hair pulled loosely over one shoulder. The cool-white fabric compliments the blue skin of her Pantoran heritage well. If she looks this good now, you canât wait to see what she looks like once sheâs gone through the hair and make-up process. Sheâd look like a proper queen.Â
Smiling, she wrings her hands somewhat nervously. âDo you think Lane will like it?â Â
It takes no time at all to reach a general consensus: how could he not?Â
âLane will love it when he sees youâve recreated his armor pattern.â you tell her, gesturing to the beaded embellishments in the bodice. Paint patterns were just as personal as their names. Their colors were just as important too, if the way Hunter reacted to you wearing any combination of red and gray was any indication.Â
He would tell you you looked good in just about anything, regardless of what you wore, but wearing anything in his colors was guaranteed to make your day extra special.Â
Now that the final fitting has taken place, you expect to enjoy the refreshments and socialize for the rest of the night, but the fun is only beginning.Â
Cici does more than just redressing in her previous clothing when she ducks behind the changing divider. With help from her mother, she wheels a large clothing rack covered by a large drop-cloth from behind the privacy screen.Â
Curious murmurs ripple through your friend group. Is this what you think it is?Â
âAre you ladies ready for a little fun?âÂ
The cover is removed with a flourish, revealing the rack packed full with all manner of fancy dresses and gowns in various sizes and styles. âThereâs more behind the screen, too.â Cici promises, inviting you and everyone to look through all the fancy garments. A majority of them are wedding dresses, but intermixed you find ball gowns and cocktail attire in all manner of material. Chiffon, lace, satin, silk, tulle, velvet. The choices are near overwhelming.Â
âWhoâd like to go first?â
Down the hall from the primary studio, Hunter excuses himself from the bachelor party, a scribbled list of additional beverages he volunteered to get from cold storage in one hand with a promise he wonât take forever. From here, he can hear plenty of excited teasing and tittering from the studio. Sounded like the ladies were having a fun time, too. Good.Â
Hunter starts down the hall, thinking he can slip past the partially open door unnoticed, but finds himself slowing when he hears your friends saying your name.
âNeed help, honey?â
âUm, I think I got it!â you call back.Â
Curiosity and temptation has gotten the better of him; from the door left ajar, Hunter peers into the studio. Just for a moment, he tells himself. Friends of yours are cloistered in a semicircle, trading giggles and whispers as their excitement builds. Thereâs several racks worth of expensive-looking dresses, and a changing screen in the corner.Â
Mock fashion show?Â
While Hunter has seen you wearing plenty of pretty and flattering things for everyday, casual events and special post-war celebrations, nothing would prepare him for the moment you step out from behind the privacy screen, clothed in a large, predominantly white dress.Â
From the uncomplicated neckline and upper bodice of the a-line dress, the waistâs lacy accents hug you in all the right places before the skirt material fans out and creates a wide pool of silk at your feet, colors gradually building into a golden train with silken accents all the while. This doesnât look like any sort of fancy party dress, as he initially assumed, but rather something bridal.
Youâre modeling in a wedding dress.Â
Hunter listens to the women peppering you with compliments, all while his heart flutters madly in his chest at the sight of you. Maker, you look beautiful. Radiant.Â
You look like you could be the rest of his life.Â
Hunter canât explain it right now. He canât tell whatâs aligned, whatâs fallen into place to make him so certain right now, but the feeling is unmistakable while he watches you show off the bridal gown to your friends. Spurred on by cheers and applause, you twirl and toss the fabric with bright laughter. Youâre having so much fun. You have no idea heâs even there, practically entranced by you, envisioning your future, together.
One day, when the time is right, Hunter will make you a part of the rest of his life.Â
Thank you so, so much for your patience, Dragon; I hope you enjoyed, thank you so much for sending in such a cute request! đŠˇ

This week's spotlighted writer is @dragonrider9905!
I am a fandom craze-induced individual over many fun topics but I found a love for writing Star Wars stories when The Bad Batch was being released. I have posted numerous works of different genres within the SW universe since 2021 after being star struck by the amazing series. I will be forever grateful for SW and the opportunities it gave me to meet and connect with so many wonderful people, especially through stories!
Top 3 Clones: Hunter, Rex, Howzer
Favorite Genre to write: I don't know if I have a favorite honestly. I have a lot of fun trying out different things. I have quite a few AUs, many reader inserts, but always, the canon work just is fun to play around with!
Featured Story (Author Favorite): The Days We Can't Get Back (The Bad Batch, Gen)
Why do you like it? What do you want people to know about it?
I am quite unsure what my favorite clone centric fic is because I have so many that I love! One that I can call out is an anthology of short stories called "The Days We Can't Get Back" which feature stories of the The Bad Batch as cadets or the early days of their group (usually interacting with 99). I love that I can branch out with a whole bunch of different feelings. I can write warm, fuzzy stories or straight up angst for our bois. Plus their hidden childhood is something that always touches and intrigues me. They are my favorite kind to read so I think it leaks into a favorite/pride to write. I imagine they'd be cute, fun, mischievous, bratty but hilarious little buggers and darlings. And their stories deserve to be told! Besides, who knows what little gems you find in the past? ;)

Iâm literally such a dumbass. HUGE (mini?) CROSSHAIR INSIGHT (This is spoiler safe đ)
Iâve always glazed over the extra little piece over Crosshairâs chest plate on his Bad Batch armor. Always just thought "oh, his armor design is cool and unique."
IT'S LITERALLY A CUSHION FOR THE STOCK OF HIS RIFLE FOR THE RECOIL.
I've shot some rifles here and there and GD your shoulder gets sore from getting punched with the recoil, no matter how good you are at compensating/bracing. Even with his katarn-class armor, I'm sure it wouldn't be comfy. Because Crosshair is the only clone we really see with something like this, I'm going to assume it's not standard-issue. Which then means he went to Space-JoAnn's or raided the GAR supply closet for some scraps and arts-and-crafts-ed it himself.
Then I noticed his Empire armor doesnât have that cushion. Yes de-individualization, but itâs also an indication that the Empire doesnât care about any discomfort/pain that Crosshair may suffer from his rifle recoil. I canât with this đ
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk đđŤ
also tagging some friends who witnessed this epiphany/may be interested since I added a few things lmao

Shortly after starting their journey, and having arrived at Firelink Shrine safely, our heroes decide to take a short break and learn more about the origins of this world, before adventuring into bigger challenges. Tech has obviously already done his research, but wants to make sure his siblings are aware of what is to come. After all, this will be a long and dangerous journey, and if they aren't careful, they could all succumb to the Darksign that brands them...
But, how did they get to Firelink Shrine? What is the journey that awaits them? And what is the meaning of this Darksign?
...to be continued! â¤ď¸
P.S. These frames are a drawn version of the actual intro for Dark Souls. Here's the cinematic if you are curious :))

As Iron Sharpens Iron
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17
Beta-read by @dragonrider9905
Chapter 1:
Previous // Next
Warnings: Jealousy. Brief mention of blood. Canon violence.
--------------------------------------------------
You couldn't even look at her.
That thought alone made you sick to your stomach. The fact that you couldn't bear to look at a woman simply because she was interested in the same man that you were, made you want to cry.
Am I really that shallow? You thought bitterly as you slammed the hydrospanner into the damaged component of the landing gear youâd been trying to dislodge.
I canât believe I was so stupid! You jammed the point of the tool violently into a crack, trying to pry it out. Of course heâd go for her. She was prettier than you - funnier too.
You closed your eyes, taking a deep breath.
Hunter is his own man. He likes someone else. Not a big deal.
Except for some reason, judging by the heavy ache in your chest, it was a big deal, no matter how much you tried to fool yourself into thinking that everything was fine.
The landing gear piece was still stuck fast. You set down the hydrospanner and picked up the plasma cutter.
This better kriffing work or Iâll have Tech up my ass for a month about it. Not to mention having to tell Hunter that I broke the ship. Again.
You ran your fingers over the healing scar on your cheek and looked at the carbon scoring around the piece that stuck fast, fused in place by laser fire.
A smile made its way across your face as you remembered how it all happened. You were providing cover fire so they'd have time to escape - more exposed than you'd like to be, but it wasn't anything you couldn't handle - until a stray shot hit the ship at just the right angle.
Hunter had tackled you to the ground, shielding you from the blast with his own body.
Despite the chaos around you, being in his arms felt safe.
âDonât ever do that again!â It was meant to be an order but it felt different than any of the others heâd given over the past year. The way heâd taken your face into his hands, carefully examining the small, insignificant wound on your cheek. His face was unreadable but as youâd looked closer, his eyes were a whirlwind of relief that you hadnât been hurt worse. There was something else there too - something that fed the hope hidden away in your core that your feelings toward him were reciprocated. Heâd kept his hand on your arm as you stood up. They were strong, steady hands that kept you warm and stayed on your arm seconds longer than the moment demanded.
But then youâd found him in a closet with Pheeâs sister only hours later at Cidâs parlour.
Iâm so stupid. How could I have read him so wrong? What made me think Iâd ever have a chance with a man like Hunter? You shook your head, angry at yourself for letting your guard down. For the first time since the beginning of the Clone Wars, youâd felt alive in a way that didnât involve throwing yourself into violently dangerous situations. You felt at home with this band of misfit clones. You had finally allowed yourself to feel and acknowledge the emotions that came with it. Now you remembered why you hadnât done that before. It was stupid and you would make sure that it wouldnât happen again.
Finishing with the plasma cutter, you brought a wrench down hard with a loud clang. The piece barely moved an inch and you threw the tool down with a frustrated groan.
âYou okay over there?â Phee poked her head around the corner, eyebrow raised.
âIâm good!â You grinned, hoping the faux smile would keep her from asking anymore questions. âJust trying to get this stubborn kriffing piece out so Tech can replace it when he gets back.â
Phee chuckled as you glared at the offending part. She walked over to the side of the ship, looking up and down at the stripped landing gear.
âDamn⌠whatâd you guys get into this time?â
It was your turn to chuckle, grateful for the distraction from your spiraling negativity.
âThat is a very complicated story,â Tech answered for you as he rounded the corner, âHowever, I do not currently have the time to tell it. We have another mission from Cid and should be leaving as soon as weâve made our repairs.â
Good, you thought. Another mission might be just what you needed to get out of your head and back into the groove of things. Back to normal.
Tech stopped next to Phee in front of the landing gear, surveying the mess of tools and ship components. He frowned. âAlthough, it seems as though that may take a bit longer than I originally thought.â
He grabbed the hydrospanner from the ground by your feet and began prying at the piece youâd been working on. âI will fix this. You pick up the tools and get that carbon scoring off of those panels.â
Phee grinned as she began helping you scrape. âI love it when you get all bossy like that, Brown-Eyes.â
Techâs cheeks darkened, the only indicator that heâd heard her at all.
You smirked. Tech and Phee were so different from each other. Her carefree sense of adventure and aptitude for playing fast and loose with the rules seemed opposite to Techâs academic personality and rigid structure. But despite their differences, they seemed to bond over an innate sense of curiosity and wonder. They belonged together.
Like Hunter and I should be, you thought bitterly.
The silence that fell on the group as you worked was deafening. Every so often you caught Phee pausing to watch as Tech worked his magic with the repairs.
Tech remained oblivious, but found himself sending subtle glances towards her as she worked. Every glance felt like daggers through your chest. A reminder of what could have been yours.
âHowâs it looking, Tech?â Hunter walked around the corner, setting a crate of explosives down for Wrecker to load onto the ship.
The knife youâd been using to scrape the panel suddenly felt heavy and clumsy in your hand. It slipped through your fingers as you frantically tried to catch it but failed as it hit the ground with a dull thud.
You gasped as a thin line of blood blossomed across your pointer finger and the palm of your hand.
âKriff!â you grumbled under your breath. Hunter stepped forward quickly only to be intercepted by Phee who grabbed your injured hand, inspecting it.
âEh, youâre fine,â she pulled a bacta patch from her pocket, quickly wrapping the injury as though sheâd done it more than her fair share of times. âBe more careful with that next time,â she chided. You looked up expecting to see Hunter but he was gone.

âI appreciate you coming with me, by the way, Tech. Herbalism isnât for everyone.â You chuckle as you bend down to inspect some nearby plants, using a scanner to check their properties.
After some members of your group had fallen ill, you asked Tech, quite reluctantly, to accompany you in finding a remedy. With credits scarce, medicine wasn't readily available to any of you.
âI do believe our best choice is to go to Felucia and seek out some Nysillin,â he says, looking around as he follows you. âBut you are welcome.â
âWe donât have the time to go all the way to Felucia,â you sigh. While you partly agreed with him, it would take at least three rotations to get there from your current location, and none of you knew if the illness would spread or worsen in the meantime.
You stand up, and the two of you continue walking through the dense foliage, the air humid and slightly sticky. âIf you see any flowers, point them out to me.â
Tech adjusts his goggles, scanning the area meticulously. âUnderstood. Though I must point out that identifying medicinal plants without a proper botanical reference could be inefficient.â
âI know, but we have to try something,â you reply, keeping an eye out for any potential remedies.
Your reluctance to Tech coming with you was simply from a place of feeling, precisely, your feelings for him. He made you both nervous and giddy but you knew nothing would ever come from it. So, instead you just relished in the time alone with him.
A few minutes later, Tech halts, his attention fixed on a cluster of vibrant orchids nestled among the greenery. âThere,â he points, âthose orchids might have some medicinal properties.â
You walk over to the orchids, marveling at their beauty. âGood eye, Tech. These could be promising.â You carefully gather a few specimens, making sure not to damage the stems and petals. Tech goes ahead and takes your scanner, beginning to analyse their chemical composition.
You crouch down beside him, looking at the scanner, curiosity piqued. âCan you tell me anything about them?â
âIt states here that orchids have been known to possess a variety of medicinal compounds. With any luck, these might help mitigate the symptoms the others are experiencing,â he explains. Truthfully, some of his words go in one ear and out the other because you can't help but quietly admire him.
He turns his gaze to you, his eyes curious. âDo you believe these orchids will suffice?â
You snap out of your reverie, clearing your throat and looking down at the pile of scattered petals. âO-Oh, of course,â you say swiftly, helping Tech gather some into his backpack carefully.
You look back at the orchids, the soft mix of pink and purple flowers filling your senses. âThese are so beautiful. Seems a shame to pick them.â
Tech looks at the flower and thinks for a moment. âI suppose they are nice on the eyes, yes.â
The next few moments feel like a dream as you watch Tech pluck a small strand from the bush. Your skin grows warm as he takes a hold of your chin with his thumb and index finger, turning your head towards him. Breath catching in your throat, you watch as he brushes your hair behind your ear and tucks an orchid into it. âI hope this will suffice,â he says softly.
You blink at him, taken aback. Where had that come from? Had he hit his head? Your silence lingers, and Tech suddenly realises his gesture was nothing short of flirtatious. âWe,â his voice squeaks adorably, and he quickly clears his throat, âwe should head back to the ship.â
You nod, still processing what just happened. âYes, of course.â
As you walk back to the ship, the orchid in your hair has you recalling back to Tech did. His gentle words, his lingering touch on your skin⌠it was lovely. Tech walks beside you this time rather than behind, his usual composed demeanor slightly rattled, and you canât help but smile at the thought of the brilliant, logical man having a tender, spontaneous side. Just for you.
You steal a glance at Tech, and your eyes lock. He looks slightly flustered, the tips of his ears turning a deep shade of red. As the Marauder comes into sight, you decide to take a gamble and stop. âTech?â
He stops too, looking at you with curiosity. âYes?â
âThank you for coming with me. I know I already said that before, but I really appreciate your help.â Your voice is soft, and your fingers fidget nervously behind your back. âAnd for the flower in my hair⌠it was sweet of you.â
Tech smiles, taking a step closer. âYou asked for my help, and I gave it. There is nothing to thank me for,â he says. His eyes flicker to the orchid in your hair and then back to you. âI apologize if this is forward, but I have always secretly favoured orchids. Both for their medicinal properties and, as you said before, they are beautiful andâŚâ He trails off, his fingers flexing as he takes a deep breath, âand so are you.â
Your heart feels like it might burst from your chest, and your eyes glisten with unshed tears at his sweet words. Does this mean he likes you back? The possibility makes your heart race. But it could just be Tech being straightforward, yet you had never seen or heard him act this way with anyone else.
âReally?â you ask, the question sounding silly instead of just thanking him.
âYes.â
You realize that you both have stepped closer to each other, your chests almost touching as he gazes down at you with gentle eyes. His gaze flickers from your eyes to your lips, but heâs nervous, and truthfully, so are you. Tech isnât easy to read sometimes, making it hard to decide if he wants to kiss you or not.
You can feel his ragged breath on your face, his posture straight and stiff. So, you take the lead, standing on your toes and pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. You let it linger, smirking as you feel him take a sharp inhale of breath.
When you pull back, you gauge his reaction. Heâs bewildered and quite in awe. Eventually, he breaks out into a grin, and reading the situation correctly, he places a hand on your cheek and slowly leans in. His nose brushes against yours, and his lips are about to meet yours untilâŚ
âAre you two back?â A voice calls from the ship, and you both jolt back, alarmed. You look to see Wrecker coming into view, rubbing his tired eyes. âAny luck?â
A wave of relief washes over you both, thankful that the intimate moment wasnât fully interrupted, but both a little disappointed it didnât happen. Tech gives you an apologetic look before following Wrecker, who retreats back inside.
That afternoon, you make a remedy with the orchids and hand cups to each of the batch, making sure they drink it all and monitoring their progress through the rest of the day. By the fourth hour, they are looking better than before, and you feel immense relief.
You and Tech donât have time to speak about what happened that day, but when he is asleep in his bunk, you notice you still have some leftover petals. So, with a small thought, you retrieve his helmet and begin placing the flowers along the edges of the visor, scattering them along the top.
The next morning, your heart swells and you realise youâre completely smitten with him as you see Tech wearing his helmet, the cute still flowers adorning it. He doesnât seem to mind them at all.

Literally canât wait!!!! Your events are so fun! And I might need this as a way to get through the next season.
sign ups are officially open, and it's just in time for us to see the bad batch return to our screens for season 3! Sign ups for this event close on February 25, 2024, at 2 PM EST.
hereâs how the exchange will work:Â
1. Read over this post, reblog it to the blog you want to participate with, and fill out the sign up form linked below!! The event's rules will be available on the sign up form for you to agree to, but you can also find them HERE!
When you sign up, youâll choose which bad batchers you would like to read about. Because this event is random, I require participants to at least be comfortable writing and reading for Hunter, so no one gets an assignment they can't fulfill. Youâll also give a few prompts that the person who has you will use in their fic!
2. The day after sign ups end, you will receive two emails from me:
Iâll be using a secret santa website to do the matching, so one email will come from that website, and it will tell you who you will be writing for. I can easily randomize the assignments this way, and it ensures that everyone has a match.Â
The second email will come from this blogâs event email ([email protected]) and it will have posting information, general information for the participants, and a document of all the prompts. Once you find out from the secret santa website who your person is, you just need to find them on the list to see your prompt and the characters you have the option of writing for.
3. You will have about six weeks to write your fic, and the word minimum is 800 words. On Saturday, April 13th, participants will post their fics to tumblr. Iâll send out more details about posting when the event gets closer, so donât worry about that. I will also put together a list of all the fics when the event is over, which will be linked on the blogâs pinned post with the other past exchanges.
you can sign up here!!
