Recently released a Skyrim mod that at this point I have put a ridiculous amount of time and effort towards, Diverse Dragon Priests! It adds a huge amount of variation to Dragon Priests including 35 new custom made models, HQ 4K textures, and multiple options and compatibility patches to make sure it works in as many people's load orders as possible <3 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/105519

Why do we never talk about Forelhost. Why don’t we talk about the fact that Rahgot and his followers holed up in there were literally the dying breath of the Dragon Cult. Why do we not talk about the fact that they fucking Jonestown’d themselves, children included (it even explicitly says so in a note to ‘make room for the children’s bodies’ fucking hello?) That dungeon haunts me every fucking day.

Godwyn's Golden Knights and Lands of Shadow
This is one of my theories since I started playing the DLC regarding Godwyn in the Lands of Shadow using his knights as source of evidences.
So, mind you there'll be several spoilers about it. I'll be tagging correctly, but attention: SOTE SPOILERS BELOW
Since I started finding Godwyn's knights pieces of lore, I got really curious about what they were doing there and why. Unfortunately, we have almost nothing regarding Godwyn, which makes this basically me squeezing it until it makes sense.
At the first catacomb we visit, Fog Rift, we encounter the Ancient Dragon Knight's Cookbook, which tells this
Tumblr media
From this item alone, we know that Godwyn's soldiers, who served him in his life, were at the Lands of Shadow, following a Ancient Dragon Knight, which is different than Godwyn's own guards. According to "Ancient Dragon Knight Kristoff Ashes" they were Leyndell guards, that probably started worshiping the dragons after the war, as so many other cases.
In this same catacomb, we also find "Electrocharge" and "Blinkbolt", both of them techniques used by Godwyn's soldiers as he brought the Dragon Communion to the Royal Capital.
Tumblr media
I think it's important to see they are called Golden Knights not Death Knights, because it's different and they were at Lands of Shadow while Godwyn was still alive.
Tumblr media
Then, we have our first clue of what were they doing there. "The origin of incantations", the first ones his knights would find for the Dragon Cult at Lands Between.
We are not gonna talk about the Death Knights now, so I'll just mention that they are the same golden knights who served Godwyn in life, now serving him in Death. Which means two different periods. And they also can show us what could've been Godwyn's sigil and weapon, that I'll talk in another post.
Heading to the next Catacomb, Scorpion River, we found more evidence of what they were doing. We found Knight's Lightning Spear, which mentions an important detail:
Tumblr media
"An incantation that was taught only to the most accomplished knights." Not a mere, common knight that served Godwyn. The soldiers that followed to Lands of Shadows were as important to Godwyn, perhaps, as Andreas and Huw to Messmer. That, then, would be no wonder why they were there together.
So, what it means? Godwyn's soldiers were at the Lands of Shadow to bring the beginning of the Dragon Communion to the Royal Capital. Since it was a technique Leyndell would rely on after the Dragon War, the Ancient Dragon Knight followed them with the same purpose.
But, was Godwyn there? Well, that's a more abstract part of the theory since we have pretty much nothing to work with, except Godwyn's corpse blooming there twice. We know that his corpse tend to appear where a part of him existed at some point.
In Stormveil Castle, we have the Prince of Death's Pustule to tells us why is he growing down there. While in Depthroots we have his original body.
Tumblr media
While we don't have any evidence of a part of Godwyn in the Lands of Shadows — such as flesh, hair —, I think the pattern repeats itself. He was a there with his personal Golden Knights. Afterall, he was responsible for estabilizing the Dragon Cult in the Capital.
Would Marika, however, allow him to go to enemy's territory like this? Different from Messmer, I don't think Godwyn had the knowledge about what was hidden in the Lands of Shadow. And the reason I believe Messmer was with him. Not to protect only the secrets, to protect him from the secrets as well. That's why we have Messmer's soldiers and Black Knights inside those catacombs that would also become a grave to his personal knights after their rebellion.
So, to pack it all up. Now it seems obvious what were the Golden Knights doing at the Land of Shadows and why would they return after Godwyn's death. I personally believe Godwyn was there himself, considering how important was the subject, the presence of his important knights and his corpse itself appearing later.
I hope I made it clear enough and that I gathered enough pieces of evidence. Let me know what you guys think xD

The Wooden Mask was created by a rogue dragon priest much like Miraak
Unlike Miraak this dragon priest had no interest in ruling over people see this dragon priest had the goal of overthrowing Alduin and become the new god of time
They created a mask that would allow them to manipulate time however it didn't go to plan
Turns out the mask wasn't able to manipulate time only able to go back in time to a specific time
A time when The Bromjunaar Sanctuary was at its peak
Before the dragon priest was able to adjust the mask's abilities they were caught by their fellow dragon priests
Nobody knows what became of this dragon priest nobody even knows who they were
It's almost like they never existed to begin with all that remains as proof of their existence is the mask they created

welcome back to another (belated) edition of Fic Rec Fredas, where I shout out one of the many fabulous fics in this fandom, whether complete or incomplete, ship-focused or not, oneshot or multichapter!
this week, I'm showing some love to:
Epistle and Elegy on the Guardian and the Traitor by @lathepoquerose
📝 Rated M | Multichapter | Ongoing | 12181 words | Miraak/Vahlok | Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings 📝 summary: "What a fool you've made of me. To allow your hands to take my love and life; could you not grant me one such intimacy?" Apostled as savior, crowned as Solstheim's Dragon Cardinal, and burdened with the title "Vahlok the Jailor", Vahlok has spent nearly seventy years suffering the weight of the myth of the Guardian and the Traitor. Unable to reconcile his grief, he composes a memoir of his years with Miraak, back when they were still Mika and Loukas, in hopes it somehow reaches him in Apocrypha. my rec: I'm a known sucker for anything and everything that expands on the lore of the dragon cult, as well as anything and everything that fills in the gaps of Miraak and Vahlok's relationship, whether in a platonic sense or in a romantic one. with its really unique-feeling premise and theology combined with some devastatingly poetic turns of phrase, this fic does both so very well! not only am I loving following along with Loukas and Mika in wistful retrospect, but I'm also loving the glimpses we get of a grief-stricken Vahlok in light of the "Guardian and the Traitor" myth.
you can see my past recs here, and remember that my ask box is open for your fic recs, too!

Part 2 of my Dragon Priest headcanons and headshots!
Tumblr media
Ahzidal. His name translates directly to Bitter Destroyer, a name he took for himself. He spent his life learning the arcane arts in Mainland Skyrim, becoming a highly talented battlemage. But when he returned to his birthplace, he found it destroyed by the Snow Elves, and everyone he had known and loved was dead. Heartbroken and enraged, he took up arms against the Elves, leading the charge into Saarthal along with Morokei. For his great bravery, he was made a Priest, and governed on Solstheim under the tutelage of Miraak. Of the three Solstheim Priests, he caused the most trouble, particularly alongside Nahkriin, his closest friend. He is Omnisexual and uses He/Him.
Tumblr media
Miraak. In the Dragon Tongue, his name means Allegiance-Guide, a name he was given to symbolize his key role in mentoring the other Solstheim Priests. He always harbored dissent against the Dragons, but hid it well. With his power on Solstheim, he sought to carve out a stronghold to rally against the Dov, having some inkling of his nature as the First Dragonborn. But upon discovering Hermaeus Mora’s Black Book, he learned the full truth about what he is. Using the power granted by Hermaeus Mora, he became one of the most powerful Priests in Skyrim, forsaking the Dragon Cult and bringing the other three Solstheim Priests with him, even subjugating their Dragons with the Shout he created. But his own brother, Vahlok, the one person he truly loved, was ultimately the one to defeat him. And so he was dragged to Apocryphal, where he remains- until the Last Dragonborn, Kiirlaas, awakens, and comes to free him. He is Pansexual and Grayromantic, and uses He/Him.
Tumblr media
Volsung. His name means Horror, belying the true capabilities hiding just underneath his cordial exterior. In his early years of Priesthood, he was a brutally efficient ruler, swiftly cutting down dissenters and ruling with strength. But one day, he was given a reward for his outstanding work- a newborn baby girl, left to die in the snow and found by Paarthurnax. Instantly, he was smitten with her, and named his new daughter Kiirlaas, meaning Young Life. After this day, he became a completely different person, exercising far more restraint and showing more mercy in his actions. He raised his daughter with nothing but love and patience, and to this day she is his pride and joy. Even after 5000 years of death-slumber, when he awoke to her face, he stood with her, not even caring that she was Dragonborn. And yet, his name rings true- any who cross him, or worse, his daughter, will know the true meaning of horror. He is Straight and Orchidsexual, and uses He/Him.
Tumblr media
Vahlok. In the Dragon Tongue, his name means Guardian, for he was meant to serve alongside his elder brother Miraak in governing Solstheim. He and Miraak spent their whole lives together, sharing responsibilities and woes, and doing all they could to help each other. If Vahlok shared Miraak’s disdain for the Dragons, he never let it show, and was known as a merciful, just leader. When Miraak went rogue, it was he who stood against him and convinced the other Solstheim Priests to return to the Cult. Even as Miraak lay dying, Vahlok attempted to bring him back to reason, only for Hermaeus Mora to claim his brother. After being named the greatest of all Priests, he continued to rule fairly, and went down in history as the most merciful and beloved of the Priests. He is Graysexual and Biromantic, and uses He/Him.
Tumblr media
Nahlot. In Dovahzul, their name means Silence, and they are my third and final OC. Born mute, they nonetheless displayed extreme magical and academic prowess, serving the Dragons faithfully and going above and beyond in their duties. However, their calm exterior and muteness fooled many into thinking they were a weak Priest, which they most certainly were not. In fact, their name not only reflects their muteness, but their favorite way of dealing with their detractors- silencing them, for good. They wear a Mask of Ivory and often can be seen alongside Britfaaz, who took them under her wing. They are Placiosexual and Panromantic, and use They/Them.
Tumblr media
Dukaan. Her name has two meanings- as a single word, it translates to Dishonor, but split into two words, it means Devourer of Kyne. Both are fitting for her. Born Albino and with partial blindness, she never knew safety in youth. Her family were cold and cruel, and so she followed in their footsteps. They forced her to become a Priestess of Kyne, a role she despised. She had learned that power was the only thing that could keep her safe, and for a Priestess of Kyne, there was little to be had. So she burned down the temple she had been shackled to and gave herself to the Dragon Cult, eventually choosing the name Dukaan for herself and wearing it with pride. She governs on Solstheim and wields frost magic with frightening skill, thanks to Miraak and his teachings. She was with him to the bitter end, only rejoining the Dragon Cult when it became clear Miraak was a losing dog. She, Ahzidal, and Zahkriisos made up what the other Priests often referred to as ‘the Trouble Trio’. She is Cupiosexual and Apothiromantic, and uses She/Her.
Tumblr media
Krosis. Her name means Sorrow, for her often grim countenance. As Vosis’ little sister, she is one of the youngest Priests, and ruled her people in the typical Dragon Priest fashion. She was given the honor of serving Paarthurnax, a role she took deathly seriously. When he was told by Kyne to teach Mankind the way of the Voice, she stood by his side, loyal to him over all else. But her loyalty couldn’t save her from the wrath of her peers, and they dragged her to the tip of Shearpoint to imprison her within the sarcophagus and await Alduin’s return. In her final moments of clarity, she called out for him, a sound which haunts the brother of Alduin to this day. She is Lesbian and uses She/They.
Tumblr media
Tulnir. Her name means Hunter’s Hammer, a curious name for such a sprightly, chipper Priest. It was chosen for her by Morokei, her beloved elder brother, for she was often far quicker to default to violence than he. The pride and joy of Bromjunaar, she was charismatic and jovial nearly all the time. In fact, her diplomatic skill brought her quite far in the Priesthood, especially considering her position as the second-youngest. She was Morokei’s more social half, spending time amongst the common folk and leading hunting parties. She is Polysexual and uses She/Her.
Tumblr media
Finally, Vokun. His name translates to Shadow, a fitting name for the most mysterious of the Priests. As the youngest, his path to Priesthood was fraught with challenges, all of which he overcame. With the help of his incredible skill in illusion and alteration magic, he took to the more illicit side of being a Dragon Priest like a duck to water. He was also a member of the first Companions, an archivist who preserved the lineages and memoirs of his fellows. Despite the age difference between them, Vokun carried on a frenemy relationship with Rahgot, who begrudgingly came to care for him. He is Bisexual and Grayromantic, and uses He/Him.
And that’s everyone!!! If anyone has more questions or comments on them, please tell me, because I can’t get enough of the Dragon Cult!
