Tele-oral medicine: towards accessible healthcare | Amanda Phoon Nguyen | TEDxUWASalon

Dr Amanda Phoon Nguyen is one of thirty-three oral medicine specialists in Australia and she has first hand experience of what it was like for Western Australian dentists providing dental consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic. At TEDxUWASalon: Revival, Ms Nguyen discusses the effects of the pandemic on the dental industry and the transition that was made to phone call consultations, part of what is known as tele-oral medicine. Although tele-oral medicine has its limitations, the pandemic has pushed the field to overcome barriers to healthcare access. She asks, what ongoing issues has the COVID-19 pandemic brought attention to in your industry? Dr Amanda Phoon Nguyen is one of thirty-three Oral Medicine Specialists in Australia.
