O QUE VAI ACONTECER EM AFTER 3?

O terceiro filme acompanha uma nova briga de Tessa e Hardin, dessa vez para decidirem seu futuro juntos após a formatura. HERO FIENNES TIFFIN FALA SOBRE OS BASTIDORES DE AFTER 3

Após os sucessos de After e Depois da Verdade, logo confirmaram as produções dos dois capítulos finais da franquia: Depois do Desencontro e Depois da Promessa. Ambos os filmes foram filmados juntos, no meio da pandemia do Coronavírus, a partir de outubro de 2020. Por conta disso, algumas precauções foram necessárias. Em entrevista exclusiva divulgada pela Diamond Films, Hero Fiennes Tiffin falou sobre os bastidores:

"Foi interessante, mas o resultado valeu a pena. Por questões de saúde e segurança, tivemos restrições em quase todos os aspectos. A gente não podia sair do andar [do prédio onde estavam hospedados], apenas para ir ao set. Mas queríamos trazer esses filmes o mais rápido que pudemos, então tivemos que trabalhar de modo seguro. Foi desafiador, não vejo a hora de voltarmos a normalidade", falou o intérprete de Hardin.

A pandemia do Coronavírus também afetou parte do elenco de After 3, o que culminou em diversas substituições no elenco, por questões de saúde ou criativas. Chance Perdomo (O Mundo Sombrio de Sabrina), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Mira Sorvino (Hollywood) e Arielle Kebbel (The Vampire Diaries) vão substituir Shane Paul McGhie, Charlie Weber, Selma Blair e Candice King nos papéis de Christian Vance, Carol Young e Kimberly, respectivamente.

Felizmente, a equipe se deu bem durante as filmagens e, unidos, conseguiram superar os obstáculos e até se divertir: "O único benefício de estarmos presos naquele andar foi como passamos tempo juntos, seja jogando cartas ou vendo filmes. Isso ajudou a camaradagem e a química no set. Por exemplo, tive um relacionamento ótimo com Stephen Moyer, que interpreta Vance, e virou um ótimo amigo, pois temos muito em comum. O elenco se tornou um time. Jogávamos Monopoly, tivemos guerras de água nos corredores. Estávamos ficando um pouco insanos, com certeza."

Em 29 de Outubro de 2020, Dylan Sprouse interprete de Trevor Matthews confirmou que não retornaria para as sequências.

Internet Speech And The First Amendment: Censorship Vs. Protection

The digital revolution of the past two decades has created a platform that allows extensive opportunities to find and share ideas all over the world. The Internet is an amazing place for people to publish ideas, connect with others, and quickly communicate their thoughts to a wide range of people. Before the Internet, other mediums such as newspapers and magazines acted as gatekeepers that determined the substance of media content and what kind of information their readers would consume. While this new digital age allows revolutionized communication throughout the world, it has also lead to many controversies causing people to view this medium as the leading First Amendment battleground [2].

In terms of regulation of speech on the Internet, lawmakers have been calling for much tighter restrictions of Internet Speech [8]. Unlike other methods of communication, the Internet has the unique ability to spread potentially dangerous information extremely quickly, and this information can be accessed by almost anyone. In the Supreme Court’s decision in Reno v. ACLU, this idea was echoed in the language of the decision because the Court believed that the Internet enables “any person with a phone line to become a ‘pamphleteer’ or a ‘town crier’ with a voice that resonates farther than it could from any soap box” [2]. This sentiment is clearly reflected in how easily people with any kind of platform on the Internet are able to influence their followers and consumers of their content [7].

The rise of the modern day “internet influencer” has put many people in a position to reach an extensive audience from their platform. According to recent studies, 72% of the American public says that they use some type of social media [9]. Because of this, and due to the growing importance of the internet in daily life, the vast majority of American citizens are influenced in some way or another by the content that they consume on social media.

Among these social media influencers are other politicians trying to reach as many people as possible by using the far-reaching power of the Internet. More specifically, President Trump arguably reshaped the role of the presidency through his use to the popular social media app Twitter. Twitter ended up being President Trump’s preferred method of communication, where he averaged around 300 tweets per month [4]. To those not born into the digital age, it may seem strange to have a president’s primary mode of communication be a social media app, but cultural historian, Neal Gabler, put this idea into perspective: “FDR mastered the radio, JFK conquered the television, and Donald Trump rules the Internet” [1].

Trump spent his entire term as president constantly sending out tweets about current events, political rivals, and other controversial topics. His tenure on Twitter ultimately culminated in a permanent social media ban from not only Twitter, but other prominent sites such as Facebook and Instagram after the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol building. Twitter justified this permanent ban saying that President Trump’s tweets were a “risk of further incitement of violence” [5].

This decision has caused mixed reactions from both sides of the aisle. Some believe that Trump needed to be held accountable for the incitement of violence at the Capitol, while others believe that this ban was blatant censorship and a violation of free speech. Many influential figures have spoken out on this issue, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, calling the ban of President Trump’s account extremely problematic “because freedom of opinion is a fundamental right of elementary significance.” She goes on to say, “This fundamental right can be intervened in, but according to the law and within the framework defined by legislators - not according to a decision by the management of social media platforms” [5]. The private sector rules consumership on the internet, and this has recently caused problems with the growing use of social media as a primary method of communication for many Americans.

Twitter’s ban of President Trump’s account is ultimately not a First Amendment violation as many have claimed. Twitter is a private company, therefore they can make their own decisions about who is allowed to use the app. Moreover, there are some significant exceptions to the First Amendment’s free speech protections. In the Supreme Court case Schenck v. United States (1919), Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes ruled that the First Amendment does not protect anyone against speech that creates a “clear and present danger of a significant evil.” So, if anyone were to promote violence or any kind of harm against other people, that speech is ultimately exempt from First Amendment protections [5].

While this ban is not an infringement on President Trump’s constitutional rights, the situation still calls into question a much larger problem of censorship in the digital age. The 1996 Communications Decency Act allows private internet companies to regulate themselves, which limits government regulation over content posted on these sites. This protects social media companies from liability for whatever their users might post. Ultimately this means that the companies are not the publishers, only host sites who can serve as moderators “in good faith” [5]. President Trump has recently called to repeal this law because he believes it contributes to a wider problem of social media companies being able to censor speech on their platforms. He believes that eliminating this law would facilitate more free speech on the Internet.

Today, so much of the world is viewed from behind a screen. As society delves deeper into this modern era of the digital age where people are transitioning to privately owned social media apps to consume and release information, there are important questions being raised about what can and cannot be put out onto the Internet. In the case of President Trump, there was no infringement on his constitutional rights, but there was a disruption of his ability to communicate with his supporters from his most frequently used mode of communication. There is an important discussion that must be had about how companies can better regulate their users from spreading misinformation and harmful content while still allowing them to speak freely. The next couple decades will likely see the acceptance of social media as the most effective mode of communication, and lawmakers will have to keep up with the growing implications of free speech protections under the First Amendment on the Internet.

Resenha 13 Era

Antes de iniciar a esta resenha (um tanto tendenciosa, eu devo concordar), quero agradecer aos queridos Rob Heinsoo, Jonathan Tweet, Lee Moyer, Aaron McConnell, por esse sistema que eu tanto amo de rodar em minhas mesas sempre que posso. Muito obrigado, de coração.

Depois disso tudo, vamos para a resenha em si!

13 Era é tanto um sistema quanto um cenário, você deve ter isso em mente. Ele é fruto da OGL (Open Game License), que foi quando a Wizzard resolveu abrir seu tão querido Sistema D20 par o mundo e deixar que pessoas o usassem para modificações e publicações com o devido crédito. Bom, em 2013, após uma campanha bem sucedida no Catarse, 13 Era foi servido a nós numa bandeja de prata.

O sistema em si é o D20 que conhecemos, com as raças, classes e tudo o que já vimos em edições de Dungeons and Dragons. A diferença aqui é como o sistema funciona e como o cenário consegue ser aberto o suficiente para que, praticamente, qualquer coisa consiga se encaixar nele sem muito esforço.

As classes não são apenas um monte de bônus, embora cada classe te de 2 opções de melhoria com bônus, cada uma delas te fornece uma peculiaridade muito especifica. O que, na tradução em português ficou como “Poder Racial”. O poder racial é uma peculiaridade da raça, algo que apenas ela pode executar, ou executa de forma melhor que as demais. Eles não se preocupam com os números complicados que a maioria dos sistemas d20 insistem em enfiar goela a baixo dos mestres e jogadores. Ele é simplista em seu cerne, mesmo assim consegue ser uma linda mistura de um sistema com elementos “gamitsas” mas que presa muito pelo narrativísmo. As classes, quase que uma unanimidade nos sistemas d20, são muito bem trabalhadas. Elas não são entulhadas de coisas em seu primeiro nível para, nos níveis seguintes, seguir uma progressão linear e sem muito controle por parte do jogador. Ele te dá muitas opções, e você pode fazer escolhas tanto dentro, quanto fora de sua própria classe. Faz sentido o seu glorioso Paladino ter um companheiro animal, mas a sua classe não tem suporte para isso? Bom, pegue o talento de companheiro animal da classe Ranger e seja feliz. O sistema não te restringe, muito pelo contrario, sempre te incentiva a buscar coisas que se encaixem com sua idéia inicial de personagem. Toda classe trás uma sensação diferente. Embora um bárbaro, um guerreiro e um ranger possam atuar de forma parecida no campo de batalha, a sensação de ver sua classe funcionando no meio de um combate junto com outras classes que também estão empunhando espadas ou arcos é muito prazerosa. Nenhuma classe faz as coisas como outra, mesmo o resultado final seja uma espadada encaixada no peito de um Gnoll, os efeitos por trás da técnica do guerreiro, da fúria do bárbaro e da ardileza do ranger são bem diferentes.

Você é um herói, desde o nível 1. Seu personagem nível 1 já é bem capaz e tem muitos recursos. Isso não significa que o mundo ao redor será fraco, significa que os desafios são muito perigosos e você, de algum jeito, sobreviveu o suficiente para começar esta jornada. Mas nunca se sabe o que te espera na próxima esquina.

A cereja do bolo no sistema, ao meu ver, é a singularidade. Algo realmente singular, algo que apenas você sabe fazer, é ou vê. Grandes destinos são para pessoas singulares, que tipo de singularidade proverá sua vitoria ou derrota? Em todo caso, você pode salvar ou terminar com a 13 Era. Alias, que historia é essa ai de h13 Era? Que era é essa? Okay, vamos para o cenário.

Você está na 13 Era, existiram 12 anteriores e agora estamos vivendo o auge do império dragão e o surgimento de ícones nunca antes vistos. Os ícones são forças que regem o mundo, você pode vê-los como deuses, NPCs extremamente fortes e/ou importantes, forças naturais, ou o que você quiser. O negocio é que eles tem muita influencia e, possivelmente, poder. Existem 13 icones, e eles vão mudar o que acontece nas suas sessões de um jeito que você, mestre, não esperava. Pois é, alem das coisas que os jogadores podem e vão fazer que vão estragar seus planos inicais os ícones também vão mudar as coisas de jeitos que os jogadores também não estavam esperando. E é ai que o sistema brilha e as coisas ficam muito cabulosas. O destino é meio louco e ele escolhe pessoas que nós não estendemos o porquê estão lá. Mas o destino sabe o que faz. Nem mesmo o mestre tem controle sobre o destino dos jogadores, e é ai que a mecânica de ícones entra em ação e tudo fica muito bonito.

13 Era, pra mim, é um sentimento antes de ser um sistema. Ele é o melhor de dois mundos, mais a ousadia e desejo de criar algo muito legal para um hobbie amado por todos nós. Eu recomendo muito o sistema e, se você gosta de fantasia medieval, se gosta do meio termo entre mecânica e narração e sistema d20, não tem como não gostar de 13 Era.

THE NURTURE PROJECT 3: HANGING ON ‘TILL THE END

Another shifting has gone by and it has been harder and stressful than ever. The workload was heavier than the last shift, which left all of us drained to the core. Even though we saw it coming we were still overwhelmed during the course of this shift. This led to further ignorance towards my plant, I was not able to visit it as much as the first shifting, whenever class was dismissed I would just go straight home and prepare for another night of studying and work, not even thinking of visiting my plant. This resulted to the worsening of the condition of my plant Senju. Even more of its leaves were withered and lost its green color, though Senju still shows some signs of life, I can already classify it as a critical condition. Senju is hanging on but if nothing is done, it could be the end of the line for my plant.

This made me feel really terrible, I was once very ambitious towards this project, now I hardly visited and took care of Senju and because of this my plant is in critical condition and is barely hanging on. I was also very frustrated that I was not able to manage my time well and ignored my responsibility as a caregiver to my plant. It really felt bad because (a) my mother will be furious at me because I did not take care of her plant, (b) I aspire to be a health provider yet I could not take care of a mere plant, in fact one of the main objectives of , and (c) I felt like I let myself down with this failure, I was stumped to see my plant in bad shape last shifting and I was so determined to

This project was designed to ready us students for the future when we do our practice, it teaches us how we will treat our future clients. This got me thinking about the future of my career, would I be able to get good feedback from a real person if I administered him/her care the way I did with my plant? Would I become a “Mabuting OT” if I continued to act like this? More importantly, if I continued being ignorant and irresponsible, would I be able to graduate and finish this course?

Even though I did not have a good outcome, it was still a learning experience for me, granted that this is a sad way to learn from my mistakes, it would still help me grow into a better person nonetheless. I realized that my work ethic has to be changed drastically and also realized the magnitude of being careless and irresponsible, if I do not manage my time well it will only leave me more stressed, interrupting my daily activities that need to be done, hindering occupational performance and not fulfilling my occupational role as well. I have to take concrete steps to improve time management in order for me to become a responsible student now and a responsible professional as well. Perhaps organizing all my thoughts and plans would be a good start.

As mentioned above, this project is designed to help us in the future towards our clients, one thing I learned is that like the different species of plants who have different needs and capacities, different types of clients also have different needs and capacities, they have their own factors, skills, strengths and weaknesses. It is an occupational therapists job to analyze what they need with the use of clinical reasoning to address the demands of his or her occupation.[1]

Recently, we learned about how technology and occupation have a relationship to one another, how technology is inherent to practice, and how it must be considered as an essential building block of occupation. Technology has been a component of therapy and has a huge impact on quality of life across society.[2] I realized that I could have utilized my access to technology to assist me in my occupation, which is taking care of my plant. Features such as the “reminder app” would notify me of the things I need to do, through it I can easily manage my time and become more responsible in my duties. What the journal said was true, and I think that as future occupational therapist whose profession is occupation-based, we need to adapt with the times and keep up with current technology, that way we can integrate it in practice and come up with helpful interventions for future clients.

To cap off the semester, the batch of 1OT had a friendly competition by decorating our respective gardens to really make the plants stand out and the winning class would be awarded extra points in our reflections for the shift. This was a task that needed collaboration within the workplace, using the learnings we got from the panel discussion and the first visit we were able to come up with an idea for our decoration for the garden. Having to learn about, from and with each other enabled effective collaboration and certainly improved the outcome.[3] Through the power of team work, we were able to finish the decorations and fortunately we won the competition, however the learning does not stop just because we won, there is always room for improvement. In the succeeding years of college and the near future when we become professionals, we would still be encountering collaborative work. Through improving communication strategies and use of immerging technology we can come up with great outcomes in school, and maximize health care in the future.[4]

It is amazing that a plant, a small plant that does not even speak or move, has taught me a lot of things that will surely help me in the future and somehow I was able to recap all my learnings from my understanding occupations class, though it did not tackle everything, I still got substantial learnings from the very first lesson of the first shifting up until now, which are critical and important in my journey in becoming an occupational therapist. I am very thankful that I was able to have this encounter, I plan to use the different learnings to help me grow as a better person, may it be a life lesson/skill or some fundamentals for practicing occupational therapy. Though this is goodbye, I am forever grateful for all the realizations and skills that were developed because of my plant. Our Nurture Project Journey has come to an end and I am sure that all of us has a story to tell. This project is more than just taking care of a plant, it is my framework and my journal of learnings which I will carry on for the rest of my life.
