Context:

• Before the events of the first film, "Lou Strickland" carried out his plan to force security in New York City (at the time he was not evil). His assistant and secretary "Trixie" told him that they had to look for a computer expert to carry out their project, at the time, a cat recognized for its work in terms of research, inventions arrived where they were. He was interested in the proposal so he offered his help.

Lou Strickland accepts James to include him in his project and the two work together; over the course of time James and strickland have a good relationship as a boss and assistant.

Also Trixie and James get to know and live together forming a bond of friendship, coming out from time to time, supporting each other, Trixie gets to fall in love with James secretly so sometimes becomes very affectionate with him, James does not notice and still considers her as his "best friend".
