TwstOber 2024: Day 14-Fun

What’s more fun than a beach day?

Despite how they got in this situation, both Dove and Dolphina were excited to be on an island! Being here along with some of their friends and their new friend, Stitch, brought them an early summer vacation. Who knew being sucked into a book would end up like this? Everyone made the most of it, getting together food and water and wood for storage and fire at night. But once that’s over and done with, it was time for some fun in the sun!

First things first was the sand. It was so white and soft, a perfect compliment to the greenery of the island and the crystal blue of the ocean. Both girls wanted to make sandcastles, so while the boys played by the water, they stayed by to start building their castle. They sat around, looking at the sand.

“How do we start?” the dark haired girl asks her friend.

“We start with a good base for our castle.” the coral haired girl answers. She cups the sand in her hands and starts stacking it up in a pile. Then she starts molding the sand carefully until she makes it into a square. “It doesn’t need to be perfect; all we need is a basic shape for our castle and we can go from there.”

“That’s pretty cool! You sure know your stuff, Dolphy.” The other girl giggles.

“Thanks! I’ve just had a lot of experience by the cove near my home.” she explains, both of them building up the sand to make it taller. “That’s why I love the ocean so much. I would go out there sometimes and have my own little beach day whenever I wanted to get out of lessons. I would look out on the horizon to see if my parent’s ship or any ship would come in.”

“You must’ve had the prettiest sight back at home.” She follows Dolphina and starts shaping the towers. “I live in the countryside, so I’m used to flower meadows and grassy hills. We would only go out to the beach during holiday and it was always nice whenever we went.”

“That’s cool! And where you live sounds just as pretty. Oh, I know! If we do find a way back home, we should find time to visit each other’s homes. You can visit me to see the cove and I can see where you live and the flowers.” she suggests excitedly. Having friends in their world will probably be the best excuse to go around the world. The other girl beams at the idea.

“That’s a wonderful idea! And it would be nice to visit everyone’s homes from our dorm too.”

“I was thinking the same thing!” Both girls were excited at the idea, finishing up their castle. Talk about fun in the sun.

anyway here’s the crew! in order from left to right: Octavia (she/they), Dolphina (she/her), Fiddle (he/him), and Jolly (they/them)

Dolphina is the worrier of the group! as a mother she was considered “overbearing” because she constantly worried about her children (she was scared to lose them like she lost her first child), so she has very much taken on the role of “mom friend” in the crew. her real name is Josephine.

Octavia, as the lead singer, is also seen as the “captain” of the crew, meaning she also worries quite a bit but in less of a motherly way and more of a “oh shit, they’re relying on me to not fuck up” kinda way. she jokes a lot to hide her insecurities and very rarely gets angry with her crew. her real name is Brook.

Fiddle is the most... spiteful of the group. because of that, he’s usually seen as the “angriest”, but he really isn’t. as far as the crew can remember, he’s never even raised his voice at anyone, much less acted aggressively toward them. he just doesn’t trust easily. he also accidentally adopted Foxy. his real name is Parker.

Jolly is actually Fiddle’s younger sibling! they’re definitely the most joyful/excitable of the group, but they’re also the hardest hitter. when Fiddle is particularly frustrated, they are usually the one to raise their voice for him. other than that, they take a very optimistic approach on... being dead and haunting an animatronic. they personally see the haunting part as a second chance on life, and refuses to waste it by being angry. their real name is Jax.

A despondent Judai finds himself in hyperspace.  With the guidance of a strange yet friendly dolphin alien, Judai reunites with the cards he drew as a child which were launched into space by the Kaiba Corporation--but due to the power of the universe’s will, they became perfected cards.  Judai then duels a hostile space creature, and he begins to understand the concept of his new deck, which harnesses the power of Neo Space, a body of energy at the ends of the universe, to power up his Monsters.

Here’s a finalized!62 for you! Despite the randomness of Judai finding himself in a world 600 million miles away because of a shooting star crashing into him, this is an interesting episode that helps set up some overarching plot points we’ll see for the rest of the series, between Neo Space, the whole “power of righteous darkness” thing, and the concept of dark (good) vs light (evil) which doesn’t happen often.  We also get Judai’s mental fog due to the effect Saiou’s powers had on him clear up as he rediscovers the kid inside him, and--as a Japanese blog I looked up some lines on put it--”the start of the ‘Neos overuse’ legend,” lol.  Of course, this also sets up the next few “Judai’s lost” episodes, but we’ll see soon enough that there’s a reason for them.

Animation fix-wise, nothing to report here! (EDIT, 2021: That was a lie; one fix I came back to do under the cut!)

As Judai uses Dandylion’s effect to summon his two Fluff Tokens, Cocoon Dolphina--visually in Defense Mode on the field--is in Attack Mode on Judai’s Disk in the panning shot to them.  I fixed it by first blanking the Zone in Photoshop, then placing a proxy in the Zone for one frame in AfterEffects before I re-panned that frame for the shot.

TwstOber 2024: Day 12-Doll

It was so cute!

Even though they didn’t know where they came from, the little Tsum Tsums were just adorable! These squishable  bean-like creatures looked like some of the students on campus and acted like them too. They all didn’t come in one night and, whenever they did come, they were different each time. And yet, it still surprised everyone when Tsum Tsums came in the form of the Ramshackle group.

Dove’s Tsum Tsum was bouncy like she was and tended to lean towards more of her curious side than her at times. This led to some little misadventures around campus, like getting it out of teacher’s offices and taking it away from drinking something unknown. It also stayed close to her friend group, particularly Ace and Deuce. It would jump on each of their shoulders and nuzzle up against their cheeks. This usually made Dove blush.

Amelia’s Tsum Tsum was calm but very protective like her. Whenever there was a hint of any of her dorm mates feeling uncomfortable, it would come to their “rescue” and guard them. It was a little comical for such a cute creature to guard anyone, but she appreciated the effort. Most of the time, it would go to the library and pick out a ton of books for both of them to read. The vice Prefect was perfectly fine with this, though she became flustered when it snuggled up to Leona when they met.

Dolphina’s Tsum Tsum is energetic and bouncy around people. Literally; whenever they came across anyone else, it would jump onto people as a “friendly greeting”. It was embarrassing, but she was happy that it had more confidence around boys than she did. It was especially drawn to the water and wanting to swim in it. They settled on the pool and took advantage of this to just play around the pool for most of the day.

Yasmina’s Tsum Tsum stayed at her side for most of the day. It rarely left her side and almost ran away when there were groups too large. That was until there was a sport being played. It wanted to jump in, even though it was shorter in every way, though its bouncy form was a big advantage when it came to playing basketball. Ambrosia’s Tsum Tsum also keeps to itself, focused on her sketchbook and drawings. Though, it was amazing to her when she went into the kitchen to snack on some chocolates.

Alex’s Tsum Tsum never sat still once. It was always looking for a way to jog around or be proactive in any sort of physical activity. It was always active that even made her tired, but she never backed down from a challenge. When it wasn’t physical activities, it was participating with threading clothes. It was very helpful (with its little nubs for hands), providing fabrics and tools needed to bring something together. It was even willing to be a guinea pig for Idia’s experiment on how the Tsum Tsums work. But it wasn’t easy for him dealing with its energetic nature.

Stella’s Tsum Tsum is inquisitive like her, loves being surrounded by her dorm mates. It was especially exciting when it came to dancing; it swayed along with the music with her and kept up with the rhythm. Whenever she would hang out with Malleus, her Tsum Tsum would snuggle up to him and switch between the two of them. Thankfully, both of them found it adorable.

I have maybe two stuffed animals from when I was a kid, one of them being a giant orca plushie from some filipino aquarium. Promptly named it ‘Dolphina’ as I clearly didn’t learn anything from that aquarium

ive seen Stevie nicks as a name for her before (bc musical reference and all) which is cute.... marie isnt bad either tho. but yeah im sad we dont know much about her... i assume they met in university given the fact that he was 21 when jolyne was born and all that but i wanna know more about her mom.... and she met jotaro who rly isnt the type for romance at all
