Help girl i am getting emotional over rocket start all over again.
Anyways yeah. I know that in comparison to all other reminiscent stories, rocket start kinda falls flat. Like, yeah, there really is just no tragedy or conflict at all. There's nothing that deeply impacts any of the characters. It's just the trickstar dudes meeting up and finding each other and deciding "yeah we should be a unit". But even then this story is just so dear to me.
The four of them just make me....
How long did mao spend his time pleasing everyone around him and being everyone's friend out of fear of being abandoned, out of fear of being worthless?
How long did makoto spend time playing games, drowning out reality around him because the modeling industry completely burnt out this child? Destroyed his sense of self to the point where any amount of attention directed at him results in panic?
How long did subaru try and try and try to talk to others, to everyone, to anyone, waiting for someone to respond to him, to walk alongside him, to love him, only to be isolated, over and over again? Completely conviced that he's doomed to meet the same fate as his father?
How long did hokuto feel like a shadow of his parents? The expectations placed on this so called "thoroughbreed" far too heavy? Maybe if he tried hard enough he'll reach them. Maybe if he tried hard enough he won't be so alone anymore. Maybe then they'll give him the attention and love he needed.
Just..the scene where subaru meets makoto for the first time and they play games and both of them are just like "wow i usually suck talking but talking to you comes so naturally!" and now they're not as isolated anymore.
The scene where mao was really harsh on makoto and makoto got scared. But later we see mao helping makoto and they're both apologizing to each other. Mao apologizes to makoto for scaring him, makoto apologizes to mao for not considering his circumstances, mao responding with a "i'm not as much of a good guy as you think i am" but makoto not really caring. For the first time they experience empathy and care from others.
Just...ugh....the subahokke scene where subaru is wishing under the sakura tree and hokuto catches a glimpse of him and is all like "wow you are talented at everything, i could never be as good as you are" and "the stars are only ever meant to be admired from afar". But when subaru finds hokuto he's just straight up " !!!!! A PRINCE??? Omg this tree IS magical i'm not alone anymore!". The subahokke mutual pining is squeezing my heart
In summary, trickstar being happy stabs me in the chest. They're just guys being dudes. Dudes being guys. Friends feeling happiness and comfort for the first time in a while. I'm gonna go cry about them now bye bye.
#Does it also make you uncomfy when hokuto gets referred to as a thoroughbreed#They literally talk about him like an animal and not a human individual#But i guess that's the point huh#“The stars in the night sky are only beautiful because we look at them from afar” is a quote that never left my mind btw#Bless you hokke for nesting yourself in my brain and never leaving#enstars#ensemble stars#subaru akehoshi#mao isara#makoto yuuki#hokuto hidaka#lore rants
