How did the King use the Dodge Charger Daytona in the first movie(during what I think is 2006) in your headcannon? By then they woulda switched to I think it was either the car of tomorrow or something else I can't remember the name of. Even by the early 2000's it still would have been massively slow compared to the buicks, fords, etc that were on the scene. How would he have kept pace?
he didnt! (and it was a plymouth superbird, reference to richard petty - aka his VA)
at the point of the 2006 season they were still using the gen 4 car (COT debuted in 2007) so i believe strip probably was driving a dodge charger, due to plymouth and dodge becoming the same company.
i think in a real life scenario the piston cup wouldn’t allow it, so realistically it was probably just a clever way to make a recognizable character and show his age — as chick hicks also represents a 1985 buick regal (or something around that era) and he wouldnt be allowed to race that either

Inaugural Mopar Event Excites from Start to Finish
With ambition and anticipation, Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio staged its Inaugural Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance, Sept. 22-24, 2023 and by all accounts, it was an extraordinary event. Produced and presented by Summit Motorsports Park with Mopar enthusiasts in mind, it featured three days of racing, a Fun Field Car Show, swap meet, car corral, manufacturers’ midway, concert by Trainwreck Country Band and fireworks. “We couldn’t be happier with our Inaugural Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance,” said Bill Bader Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park. “Our team spent several months organizing this event, and we all wanted it to be successful, and we are all very grateful that it was. We had a tremendous turnout, and we look forward to an even bigger event next year. The planning starts now.” On Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, the final round of eliminations in Indy Cylinder Head No Box saw Ron Hicks of Leo, Indiana, rip off a .001 reaction time and race to a 12.45 to defeat Cory Blackford of Toledo, Ohio, who stopped the clocks at 9.89. In Box, Randy Chestnut recorded a .007 on the tree and took the win with a 6.13 over Keith Meador, who went through the traps at 6.16. On Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, the final round of eliminations in Koffel’s Place Super Pro put the spotlight on Gene Nagy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Cliff Motes of Logan, West Virginia. They inched into the beams before blasting off, and Nagy came out on top with a 4.70 to Motes’ 6.59. In CRT Transmissions Pro, Marcus King of Republic, Ohio and Mike Walwood of Parma, Ohio motored up to the starting line, and King secured the win with a 9.60 elapsed time to Walwood’s 9.85. AA Transmission Hemi Super Stock saw Bob Marshall of Columbus, Ohio and Ron Gallagher of Whitby, Ontario, turn on their red lights, and Marshall won as his light was a bit less red than Gallagher’s. In Mancini Racing Nostalgia Super Stock, Doug Wright of Waterford, Michigan and Mike DeChicco of Ostrander, Ohio put dial-ins on their classic cars before Wright wrapped up the win with a 9.43 to DeChicco’s 11.46. Dan Trainer of Orient, Ohio and Dan Brewer of West Milton, Ohio took the stage for the TTI Exhaust Sportsman final round of eliminations, and Trainer wrapped up the win when Brewer illuminated the red light, with a mere -.005, at the hit. On Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, the final round of eliminations in FireCore 50 Top Gun Full-Bodied saw Jeff Goebel of Stratford, Ontario, flat-foot the pedal on his Duster to a 4.39 for the win over Chris Wheatcraft of Jamestown, Ohio, who clocked a 4.84 in his Demon. In FireCore 50 Top Gun Open-Bodied, Bryan Keller cruised to a 3.70 to earn his trip to the Summit Motorsports Park Winner’s Circle over Keith McLennan, who was .004 at the hit but had to get out of the throttle. Unfortunately, a continuous mist on Sunday evening caused the remaining rounds for other categories to be cancelled. As an added element to the event, Manufacturers’ Choice Car Show Awards were given during a ceremony on the starting line. The winners were Jerry Imhoff’s 1970 Duster (chosen by Arrington Performance); Rick and Nicole Janosik’s 1973 Challenger (chosen by Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram); Mark Charlton’s 1963 Plymouth Wagon Max Wedge (chosen by Mancini Racing); Pam and Phil Helms’ 1972 Roadrunner Satellite (chosen by Koffel’s Place); Dave Taylor’s 1962 Fury (chosen by CRT Transmissions); Bill Watkins’ 1969 Barracuda (chosen by Moto Lenz Photos); Joe and Pam Mazzola’s 1970 Barracuda (chosen by Indy Cylinder Heads); Paul and Rose Prescott’s 1969 Charger Daytona (chosen by Harland Sharp); Francis McManamon’s 1966 Belvedere II Wagon (chose by FireCore 50) and Randy Slovikosky’s 1978 Trail Duster (chosen by Dornan’s Sales & Service) As racers and race fans who were at the event over the weekend heard, Bader Jr. has happily announced that the 2nd Annual Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance will be Sept. 19-22, 2024, and as a new addition, a Gen III Hemi category will be part of the lineup. “This event has the ingredients to be enormous, and we are eager to see where we can go from here,” said Bader Jr. Summit Motorsports Park is at 1300 State Route 18, Norwalk, Ohio. Answering The Most Common American Muscle Car Questions
The concept of a muscle car largely stems from hot rod and drag racing culture, with the basic premise being to take a small, relatively lightweight car, add in an oversized engine, and then boosting proceedings with upgraded brakes and suspension to match. The above may seem like a simple template, but there is lots more to the genre than meets the eye. For those who want some simple answers to the most common questions asked about American muscle cars, the list below will give you a jump-off point for further research.
If you want to delve further into the world of American muscle cars, then simply do a quick search on our website to find out everything you need to know about these wonderful vehicles.
What are American Muscle Cars?
A muscle car is a high-performance vehicle with a powerful engine, manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive. The concept of muscle cars stems from the hot rod and drag racing culture, where small, lightweight vehicles were fitted with oversized engines and reinforced with upgraded brakes and suspension to match.
Brands of American Muscle Cars
Some of the most notable American muscle car brands include:
AMC (AMX, AMC Rebel The Machine) Buick (GS 455 Stage 1, Buick GNX) Chevrolet (Chevelle SS, Camaro Z/28, Camaro SS, Nova) Dodge (Dart GTS, Dart Demon, Charger, Charger Daytona, Super Bee, Challenger) Ford (Mustang Boss 429) Shelby (Mustang GT500, Mustang GT350) Oldsmobile (442) Plymouth (GTX, Road Runner, Barracuda) Pontiac (GTO, Firebird)
What is America’s Best Muscle Car?
This is subjective and varies based on personal preferences. Some of the most popular muscle cars include the Chevrolet Camaro, the Dodge Challenger, and the Ford Mustang. If we interpret the word ‘best’ for ‘most sales,’ then the title will go to the Ford Mustang for sheer sales numbers, both in America and abroad. However, the Ford Mustang is strictly a pony car, and more sports car these days. The Dodge Challenger and Charger are The last vehicles to follow the true old-school muscle car template design.
What is the Baddest Muscle Car?
This is also subjective and varies based on personal preferences. However, some muscle cars known for their powerful engines and aggressive styling include the Pontiac GTO, the Dodge Charger Daytona, and the Ford Mustang Boss 429. Personally, you can’t go far wrong with the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 for this status.
Classic Muscle Cars
The classic muscle car era is often considered to be the late 1960s and early 1970s. During this time, many iconic muscle cars were produced, such as the Chevrolet Chevelle SS, the Plymouth GTX, and the Pontiac Firebird. However, don’t discount the other decades for some classic examples. The 1980s produced the Buick GNX, Which is a highly collectable example today.
Is There a British Muscle Car?
Although there are many high-performance vehicles produced in Britain, the term “muscle car” is typically associated with American cars. At a stretch, you could include the British Ford Capri, which did have a muscle car-like design. However, engine sizes in the Capri were never as large as their American counterparts.
What is the King of Muscle Cars?
This is subjective and varies based on personal preferences. Some people consider the Pontiac GTO to be the king of muscle cars, while others might consider the Ford Mustang Boss 429, the Dodge Charger Daytona or the Chevrolet Chevelle 454 to hold this title.
What Does GTO Stand For?
GTO stands for “Gran Turismo Omologato,” which is Italian for “Grand Touring Homologated.”
Which is the No. 1 Muscle Car in the World?
This is subjective and varies based on personal preferences. However, some of the most popular muscle cars globally include the Chevrolet Camaro, the Dodge Challenger, and the Ford Mustang.
What Was the 1st Muscle Car?
The first muscle car is often considered to be the Pontiac GTO, which was introduced in 1964.
What is the Most Stolen Muscle Car?
This can vary depending on the year and location. However, the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) reports that the most stolen muscle car in the United States in recent years has been the Dodge Charger.
What is the Greatest Muscle Car of All Time?
The ranking of the best muscle car in the world depends on the individual’s personal preference and the current market demand. Some of the most popular muscle cars in the world include the Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Camaro SS, and the Ford Mustang Boss 429.
Should you buy a Muscle Car Right now?
Yes…. does it really need more explanation?

Mustang, Citroen, and K5 Blazer: 15 Cool Rides From the Steve McQueen Car Show
Car shows are cool, but let’s be real. It’s extremely rad when the show is themed around Steve McQueen, the King of Cool. The show took place at Boys Republic, the private all-boys’ school in Southern California that Steve McQueen once attended and later helped support. The Towering Inferno was the theme of this year’s Friends of Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show, and, like the film, the show was filled with everything from a Ford Galaxie 500 to a Chevrolet Nova, and even a handful of iron-piston water pumps. With so much history to be seen and felt, we’ve rounded up 15 of our favorite rides from the show. Take a look, and try not drool too much over these classics.
1970 Chevrolet K5 Blazer
Steve McQueen was the first owner of this off-roading baddie, way before hipsters and millennials started taking a liking to them and Broncos (or anything vintage, to be honest).
1974 Mazda RX-3
This green and yellow beauty is beyond cool. From the “I got 99 problems but a piston ain’t one” sticker to the 20B ITB rotary engine, every detail is on point. [insert Keanu Reeves’ “Whoa”]
1957 Jaguar XKSS
This Jag belonged to McQueen and was his personal favorite even though he nicknamed it The Green Rat. Regardless, the XKSS is an eye-catcher.
1968 Ford Mustang Fastback
It had to be on the list. There were so many of these Bullitt ’Stangs, and having lived in San Francisco, I always fantasized about driving one through the hills of North Beach.
1973 Citroen S.M.
Quick history lesson: The Citroen SM was MotorTrend’s 1972 Car of the Year. I’m deeply in love with hatchbacks, so this high-performance French classic was love at first sight.
1966 Dodge Charger
The hit man in Bullitt drove a ’68 Charger R/T 440, but 1966 was the year the Charger made its debut. And it’s a fastback.
1912 Pierce-Arrow
This original 1912 Pierce motorcycle even won the attention of Chad McQueen. It has a high-compression one-cylinder engine and is one of 32 built.
1957 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
This Ghia sports a roof rack, which makes any ride a total badass. I could look at this car forever.
1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
This blue babe is said to be one out of 10 Sting Rays in Daytona Blue with a red interior.
1968 Porsche 912 Targa
The soft-window Targa. An absolute gem!
2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S
Vietnam War veteran Richard Bergquist styled his Harley to pay homage to war vets, like Steve McQueen himself. The tags on the box name the men he fought alongside. This bike humbled my soul.
1961 Porsche 356B S90 Roadster
Steve McQueen owned a black ’58 356 Speedster 1600 Super, to be exact, and this Porsche 356 is timeless.
1978 Bultaco 250cc
This restored Spanish two-stroke hill-climber is any motocross enthusiast’s dream.
1953 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
There’s something magical about a vintage car that still has its original paint. This Caddy’s paint hasn’t been retouched, and I appreciate the authenticity it conveys.
1959 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite
Thanks to a MotorTrend editor who owns one, I have a soft spot for these cute fellas. The silver color reminds me of a Porsche Speedster, but it also suits this Bugeye well.

The Ford Torino King Cobra was developed in secrecy with a single goal in mind – to beat the Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird, two cars that were threatening to dominate NASCAR competition. In the late 1960s the world of NASCAR had begun to take aerodynamics seriously – the cars were approaching 200 mph on some banked circuits and the only viable way to get them to go any faster was…

All Rise The Plymouth SuperBird!

All Rise The Plymouth SuperBird!
By Tag Weisseg
This guide review was so much fun. There are so many memories of this vehicle and I will share all of them later with you.
First, the author of the guide is Geoff Stunkard, an extremely well known expert regarding Mopar. He, along with guys such as Dave Wise are famous when documenting the Mopar legends.
The particular book is from our close friends at cartechbooks. com. This guide is 96 pages associated with certifiable fun. Packed with 120 color photos along with details to make your head spin. The writer starts the journey for your reader at the beginning. And then goes step by step. From why the particular Superbird was built with the large side on the back to its race heritage and then to the street creds. Like any great author Geoff takes you step-by-step so you can follow the “bird” through beginning to its end in chronological order.
Dont really want to give away the money pictures in the book but let’s contact on a few interesting subjects. The Superbird was a descendent of the 1969 Avoid Charger Daytona . Exactly why is that important? Well, you are able to send a note of thanks to the King- Richard Petty. Petty was obviously a second generation stock vehicle driver. He raced just for Plymouth and won a lot of races. Now, King Rich as we know him today noticed what the Charger Daytona as well as the Ford Talledega was performing on the track and wished something from Plymouth in order to compete. Plymouth had absolutely nothing so the King jumped in order to Ford. Well, that obtained the Plymouth folks enormous worried that they had dropped the face of there race program. Hence, Plymouth constructed the Superbird as they known as it. The King came back and drove this beast to the winners circle. Also it was just not Richard Small. Pete Hamilton drove the particular 70 Bird to the those who win circle at the Daytona five hundred and many other drivers followed.
Well, Plymouth can only use the Superbird for the track as long as they constructed a minimum of 500 for road use. This is were the writer really accelerates his tale. And it’s the point where I could finally add my own remembrances of the Superbird.
I can remember going to the nearby Chrysler Plymouth dealerships along with my Father. He was a large Mopar guy his expereince of living. He and I would go to car shows and search car lots on Sundays when the dealerships were shut. I recall making an opinion that the Superbird was a Street Runner with a wing around the back. Dad knew much better and told me the unclean little secret. Yes, it had been a 70 Road Athlete but it had front fenders from a Dodge Coronet! As well as the nose cone was additional on at a separate flower outside the Lynch Road grow in Detroit.
The author provides in depth fine detail of this true story. The writer also delves into exactly what engine, transmission, rear end and exactly what paint schemes were utilized. Mr Stunkard also offers a dictionary account of how to learn a fender tag, the VIN tag, where the figures are stamped on the block, and the way to match them up. This really is done so a buyer really can make sure it’s a figures matching car. The author offers insight on what to look out for if you are intending to buy one. They just made 2000 Superbirds therefore he warns you to view our for replicas or even fakes. With knowledge through the book you can note the reason why they all had vinyl surfaces, why only two motors such as the 440 and the 426 were used. The guide just hits the indicate for anyone who wants to admire the Bird or really wants to very own one. You better strike the lottery or obtain a big inheritance if you want 1. Rarity drives prices upward and this bird is no exclusion.
I have a buddy who has a 1970 authentic Bird. He has a 440 with a 727 transmission. It is a survivor with lower than six thousand miles. Whenever he brings it in order to shows people swarm the vehicle. Old guys like me smile due to the fact back in the day the sellers could not sell them. After all who wants to drive a car towards the grocery store that has a big side on the back? Dad and am would see these wild birds on dealer lots because late as 1973. These people parked them way in the rear like they were embarrassed regarding having these strange vehicles on the lots. In the eighties another friend of my own had one. He hardly ever drove the car. When inquired why he replied “ people laugh at me”. He sold it in a given time. Ouch.
We encourage you to buy this guide. It’s a fun read, however informative. You will learn all the things that will went into the build of the now master piece. Cartechbooks. com has this book along with hundreds of other books for the reading pleasure.
