Hawaii: part II is the album that made me see full albums as a form of abstract art.
It is very much a concept album, but I couldn't tell you what the heck its concept is.
#hawaii part ii#hawaii part 2#miracle musical#joe hawley#You want a song where a long segment of it is just... reversed?#It's got that.#How about a lady singing while people are gregorian chanting the colors of the rainbow in hawaiian?#It's got that too#An entire track that's basically just in japanese?#Well one verse is in French but yup that too!#You like songs without a real structure to them a la Bohimian Rhapsody?#Its got two!#You like circular-ness to your albums?#The first line in the album is exactly the same as the first line in the final song so its got you covered there too#You like rap?#For some bizarre reason it's got that too!#Do you like the meanings of songs being blocked by an impenetrable wall of metaphor so opaque#you're not sure that there's any deeper meaning to the lyrics at all?#That's the entire album baby!#It's the auditory version of that dream you spend five minutes after waking up laying in bed wondering whether or not it was a nightmare#and it's a bop.
