A middle-aged zoo worker still lives with her mother in a small Russian coastal town. She is stuck and it seems that life has no surprises for her until one day - she grows a tail and turns her life around.
Highlight of the film is Natasha's transformation once the radiologist doesn't make a big deal of her condition, and temporarily her life starts to flourish. But there's the bullying by her colleagues, being outcast by her church, the alienation from her mother. Eventually she even is put off by the doctor. It is all very bleak.
