Spending my weekend before Halloween at Mickey's Not So Scary at Magic Kingdom and much to my surprise, I saw three people as Azul, Idia, and Kalim walking down Main Street USA. To the three guests in costume, you will be remembered!

A great place to go anytime is Walt Disney World's, Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. But going in October is extra special. The park is totally decked out in the shades, colors and themes of autumn. Then there is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I went last year on this date. I wish I could have gone this year. Oh well there is always next year! See ya there!

When I made an earlier version of this poll, focusing only on the parades from the American parks and lumping all the parades from the Paris and Asia parks under the "Other" category, I was surprised by how many people voted "Other." So I realized I had to check out some videos of the parades from the parks overseas.
They've got some good parades at those parks. They reflect the different cultures' concepts of Halloween in very interesting ways. For example, the Paris parade has hardly any spooky aspects at all, but is a happy, sunny celebration of autumn and harvest time. Whereas the Tokyo and Hong Kong parades are in some ways darker and spookier than the American ones.
I do like them all, but still, I think the Boo to You Parade from Walt Disney World is my personal favorite.

Disney's The Haunted Mansion | The Werecat Lady Changing Portrait
Originally known as the Panther Lady. When the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland opened, the first portrait in line in the Portrait Hallway was that of a young woman dressed in white holding a rose laying on a couch. When lightning would flash, the painting would rapidly change in sync with the lightning. The woman's upper half would change into a black panther. When the effect changed into the slow morph, the black panther transformation was kept the same. In 2005, the Portrait Corridor's effect was changed from a slow morph to a ghostly image being cast on to the painting by the outside lightning. Due to the way the effect is achieved, the original image now had to be darker and the scary image had to be lighter. The clothing on the woman was changed to black and instead of a black panther. She changes into a snarling white tiger when the thunderbolt flashes.

Two things today - promotional key art of Nightmare Before Christmas in Disney Speedstorm, and an announcement from Gameloft that Santa Claus is coming in the next update for Disney Magic Kingdoms!
Tumblr media
I took a look at the key notes and noticed it says Santa will have a 'Candy costume'... do they mean him in the bag? The missing hat and candy in his beard? Will Jack be getting his Sandy Claws costume? So many questions, but I hope he's obtainable without money, and I can't wait to see what quests he'll have!

Ask #19. A “hidden gem” of Disneyland (or the park of your choice)
I love the sheer amount of hidden little details that Disneyland contains, but my favorite at the moment (besides all the fortune tellers) is the Halloween Tree in Frontierland. I was there at the right time to finally see it decorated and it was really such a delight.
The Halloween Tree itself has so many layers of meaning and how Bradbury is tied up in Disney lore, but also how that’s juxtaposed by the seemingly random choice of tree that doesn’t really match the stature of the one in the book and the fact that the book isn’t actually a Disney-related IP at all.
It’s the kind of old school Disney reference where something was brought into the park just because it’s neat, and it’s wild to me that it was only created in 2007 when it feels like something that could have been there much longer.
Also the tree is undecorated most of the year so it’s technically a hidden gem most of the time.

On a completely unrelated note, a hidden gem I recently discovered in Magic Kingdom that I really enjoy is this random sign in Adventureland:
It’s actually super visible on the corner of the bazaar but I’ve never noticed until now that the boats on the sign actually move! Very cool and quirky element that adds a lot to the bazaar area, which honestly could use a few more details like this one.
