Gooooood Morning! Happy Friday! This is Turning on the Lights for Friday, October 21, 2022. Guess what we are talking about? Discipleship! What do we believe and why do we believe it? How do we behave and why do we behave that way? How do we exist as image-bearers of The Most High and disciples of Christ in this evil world? Excellent questions indeed. Hopefully, a few answers are provided in this morning's discussion. I do hope that this challenges you and through that you are strengthened. May God bless you and we will see you in church! Please like this video on YouTube and feel free to share!

first.
“But, seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
There is just so many things in life that this verse applies to, and I guess it took me a lengthy 4 years of my Christian life to truly understand it.
These are the things that I am committing to let go of control and surrender it to Christ this year (perhaps the list will get longer as I reflect more):
1. MONEY
Tithing is such a difficulty when money is tight, and you spend more than you save. Despite my liabilities, I do see how I still have enough to afford things like holidays or shoes and clothes - in amounts far more than what I need. So why is it when I think of “tithing”, I don’t think I have enough to tithe?
“If we stop thinking the money is ours, and realise that it was only ours to steward, then perhaps it becomes easier” - yes, yes it does but to even start thinking that the money isn’t ours to begin with is the hard part.
So I started with the easiest thing to respond with. I’ve already long decided to make Christ the Lord of my life - but perhaps it has not always followed with actions to show for it. I had begun to set aside my 10% first and foremost each payday for God, and then work with whatever I have left.
God first, and for God first.
2. TIME
I had not been reading my bible diligently, faithfully, obediently, necessarily, for far too long. While there’s the odd check-ins on verses now and then, I had not been committing the hour of my time to really draw lessons from God - and not just that, to really speak with God and listen to Him and the plans He has for my life.
Why? Well, the same reason I had not been exercising either: no time.
But again, it’s because I’m seeing things from whatever I have left at the end of the day/week/month, instead of really seeing it from the perspective of starting each day setting aside an hour of time for God (no matter which timeslot it actually is).
I guess this is a commitment that I am making/have yet to make/please check back in due time. I wonder at what hour of the day would be the best for me, really; where I would really have control over it without distractions to tear me away from what’s most important. Something I’d ask ZH to pray with me about I guess!
God first, and for God first.
3. MILESTONES
Of course I want to get married right? I’m 29, and in all my wildest dreams, I would have been married by now. But I’m not, and unlikely to. And worse - I can’t even project how long more it’ll take.
I don’t know when my parents will give us their blessings, or if it’s something that’s a safe zone right now for us to broach the topic with them even.
But I suppose, ZH and I have our disipleship to work on right now too anyway, before we even start to prepare our hearts and selves as partners in Christ for one another.
To trust God in this, is quite literally, to put God first and doing things for His sake first. And with ZH really committing himself to Masterlife, it’s a darn good opportunity for me to also reassess my relationship with God, and really come back to my first love.
God first, and for God first. Pray with me!

Loving God Isn't Easy! As promised part two of the valentines post. Sometimes loving God, is sometimes a lot harder than it looks and takes more effort than the sunday service!

Bible Training In Zambia (@Lecrae @Reachrecords)
This just Blessed my life as Lecrae teaches about discipleship and that story in the end.  What a testimony of how powerful just our lives can be to a by standard and we don't even realize.  Just gives me more confirmation and fight to NEVER confirm to this world but life by the truth of our Lord
