It is Transgender Awareness Week 🏳️‍⚧️✨️ This week, leading up to Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th, aims to educate community members about the lived experiences of transgender and gender-diverse people! Despite the statistics of trans people in Canada/the US, there is a chance you know someone who is transgender. There are many different ways to be trans, each of them are valid and deserving of respect!

CORRECTION FOR SLIDE 4 "MARGINS & INTERSECTIONS": The number of BIPOC transgender adults in the US is around 5,000. We apologise for the misrepresentation and for being disastrous at math.

It is Asexual Week! Asexual people (or "aces" for short) are people who experience little to no sexual attraction towards any gender. There are multiple ways to be asexual, since asexuality is a spectrum. Although there is progress towards asexual visibility and acceptance over the past several years, aces around the world continue to experience discrimination associated with lack of awareness. These challenges include but are not limited to undergoing conversion therapy, negative interactions with professionals who perceive asexuality as a medical disorder, and general lack of legal protection in anti-discrimination laws.

You can read more about Ace Week through Asexual Awareness Week's website (AceWeek.org), and learn about asexuality at The Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN - www.asexuality.org). Toronto Aces and Aros is a local group of asexual, aromantic and questioning people who host discussions and social events in Toronto. More about them can be found on their WordPress website: TorontoAcesAndAros.wordpress.com .

We have a discussion on exploring gender happening next week! We will talk about what gender means to us, and our relationships with gender and gender expression. Everyone is welcomed to participate regardless of gender. We welcome questioning folks as well!

Thanks to folks who came out for our gayme night! It was great seeing everyone and getting to know each other through card games. We will meet again in the next few weeks!
