C H A P E R ONE : A LETTER

3rd POV

A nice peaceful village doing their own normal things, A two Braided hair with a Chicken on her head passed by greeting everyone.

“What a nice peaceful day it is, Isn't wong?” She asked her pet chicken, Wong the chicken can only nod in agreement.

“HIYAAA”

Dust fill the view, Two figures stood there on fighting stance.

“And Normal fights between Garu and Abyo” The girl cheerfully claps her hand, not bothered by the wind created by the two ninjas fighting one another.

“You better keep your eyes open Ching! Cause The great Abyo will win once again!” Abyo said to the girl who awed and cheered for him.

(That made me single feel single ಠ~ಠ )

A giggled filled their ears, Abyo smirking for this is his disadvantage, Ching was happy to hear the giggles meaning her bestfriend is here, Meanwhile Garu paled- OI GARU IM NARRATING WHY THE HELL ARE YOU RUNNING-

Like I said, He run away leaving me to narrate their chase.

Oh did I tell you who is chasing him?

Well you see, Our Lovely Village Girl loved by almost everyone named to be Noodle Girl for she always bring them happiness with her Uncles Noodle by Deliveries!

“Hi (Y/N)!” Ching happily greeted, The said girl looked at her while still running, Waved at her with a smile. “Like I said, A Normal Peaceful Day” She once again said, Wong holding onto her as the wind was still strong after (Y/N) joined the tornado wind making.

It was pretty normal for them to have this young love birds to chase (mostly Garu running away and (Y/N) chasing him)

As (Y/N) finally got close enough to Garu, She took his hand and pulled him to her, and pumper his faces with kisses.

(Still making me look like single-)

Suddenly a Gong was heard, (Y/N) stopped at what she was doing and skipped to the sound not before giving the talking ¿ Boy who wiped his face away with a flying kiss.

Making Garu be blown for too much love from her kiss, While (Y/N) Giggled. She continued to skip back her way to her home, Goh Rong.

As she finally reached her destination with alot of greeting from the customers, She made her way to the kitchen and to her Uncle Linguini, Uncle Dumpling and Uncle Ho.

“Ah there's our Lovely niece”

“Hello (Y/N)”

“Come sit here”

The three geasure the young girl to seat by a nearby kitchen stool, The girl obliged and smiled at her uncles.

“(Y/N) we need to tell you something” Her Uncle Ho said, He was nervously taking out two letters, One was already open, And the other wasn't.

“You receive a letter from our great friend from Japan” Uncle Dumpling said, He took the opened letter from Ho and read it out loud as Ho passed the other letter to (Y/N) who look at it confusion written within her face.

“「My Dearest Friends,

I heard you had an excellent Niece, So I was wondering if she would like to go to the school i had been leading.

Inarizaki high school is quite known for our volleyball sport, Leading the Hyugo Prefecture to have its nice reputation.

I would like to have your Niece to experience my school, If you'd allow me to take care of her for atleast a year for her to study and find her passion for herself.

'She agreed?' They thought with Dada who's actually listening to their conversation, The three uncles look at Dada ‘Wait, Why is Dada on our Telepathy?’ They asked one another as they look at Dada who shrugged and swept away from them.

They return they're gaze at (Y/N) who pointed at the three of them and clapped, Their face gloomed.

“We're sorry (Y/N), But we're not going with you. As much as we wanted to, we're not allowed to leave the Goh Rong nor the Sooga Village.” Dumpling said, He, Ho and Linguini looked at one another.

“Yeah, We are needed here..” Linguini said, A frown on his face.

“It's alright thought! We can send letters!” Ho tried to cheer the sad girl, Who's about to cry.

(Y/N) made a gesture I cannot narrate other than her pointing at her heart and to the window to see Garu with a frown on her face.

“Ah, I mean this is your decision..” Ho said, Understanding her worries. Again it was Garu. Normal for them.

We should actually just titled this chapter as normal, Since everything is normal. And normal is weird. Anyways back to normal chapter.

“You can talk to them if you'd like. We'll support your decision” Linguini said, Dumpling smiled at his niece.

“If you finally made your decision to go, You can Read the letter Ojin had gave you” He said, Before guiding the girl out “Set your mind off a little, Thought you have 2 days to decide.” Dumpling said, The young girl nodded and walk out, Gloomy aura around her.

【Slight Time Skip】

(Y/N) took her time to walk, Look around the village and smile at the afternoon sky. She has work but her uncle insisted to have her time thinking, not even noticing Garu, Abyo fighting again and Ching watching them.

“Oh hey (Y/N)!” Ching greeted, Expected a giggle or a hug from her friend.

Garu who heard Ching's greeting suddenly jump to a roof at the nearby house, to hide ofcourse.

But (Y/N) only walk pass them with a gloomy aura of seriousness and sadness.

She was quite happy, If only atleast one of her close friend or Family can come with her, so she wouldn't be lonely..

Ching and Garu look at one another with a Questioning mark, Garu slowly got down from the roof and walk beside (Y/N) who was still in deep thoughts.

Ching Finally decided to call her out, Making Garu jump back to the roof.

“(Y/N). (Y/N)!”

At Ching's third call did (Y/N) look at her, Abyo too busy to try and break his tshirt again, Also trying to find his bestfriend for another fight.

(Y/N) walk back to Ching

“What got you so gloomy?” Ching ask her bestfriend, (Y/N) Gesture a bird flying and away from view before making notes with her hand in an invisible manner. “What? You're moving?”

That Caught Garu and Abyo's attention and looked closely to the girls.

(Y/N) nodded, And counted her finger before showing One and then Three in each side of her finger.

“You'd be gone for a year or 3?” Ching asked, Her expression of happiness went down as (Y/N) nodding.

“Wait why are you moving?” Abyo asked, As he joined the girl's conversation.

“She said she was invited to move to Japan to study” Chibg translated for Abyo, Which Abyo nodded on appreciation.

(Y/N) did the same motion on what she did to her uncles, Pointed at her heart and making a heart by hands before breaking them since Garu 'is not' with them.

Ching looked at the Heartbroken girl, But Stopped as She saw Garu Jumping up and down, She sternly looked at him making Abyo and (Y/N) look at where Ching was looking only to get (Y/N)'s big heart broke to see her crush jump away in happiness.

Suddenly Thinder and lightning took over the sky, (Y/N) having river of tears running through her eyes stomping her feet.

“Ah!(Y/N) wait!” Ching was about to go after her but Abyo stopped her, And Actually took off his shirt the right way and put it on Ching's head to prevent her from the rain and getting sick.

Ching glared at Garu who was still and now happily going on the rain without a care in the world.

“Garu you Jerk!” She yelled, Abyo didn't do anything and only led Ching back to her house for shelter.

(Y/N) run back to Goh Rong, Greeted by her uncles and Dada but ignored them and went up to her room.

“What got her crying?” her uncles ask one another as they worriedly glace at the darkening sky and at their niece door. “Maybe the letter took an impact on her?” they all shrugged and let the young girl to have her time once again, Asking Dada to bring her a meal since she hasn't eaten since lunch.

With (Y/N) Jump at her bed, Garu posters, Garu pillows, Garu plushies, Garu everything on her room. She cried her eyes at the mattress and punching it who jas a face of Garu in it.

20 minutes of trying to calm down wasn't working, At this point she was already tearing the posters she made for Garu and crumpling it before throwing it anywhere.

A knock made its way from the door, She ignored it and continue breaking any Garu looking faces in her room which was almost everything. Dada came in with 3 hands pushing him, He looks at the uncles scared only to be sternly stared by the three boss making him sigh.

“Ms. (Y/N)” Dada said, (Y/N) look at him almost throwing the crumbling of papers and random Garu things at him but stop to see the innocent looking friend of hers. “I- I heard you haven't eaten” Dada said and put down the tray of noodle meal on her table, Dada nervously looked around. “Uhm.. I think you should eat Ms. (Y/N)..” He said, He was about to walk away till he heard a sob.

He turned around to see (Y/N) looking more heartbroken than ever, It really broke his own heart to see her like this. Everyone didn't really respect him, But the girl did and help him alot mostly everytime which he deeply appreciated. Honestly everyone who knows (Y/N) would be heartbroken too, She was the ray of their village even the Villains have to agree with that.

(Chief: Yeah no

Ring-ring: no

Ninjas: Yeah ms (Y/N) is nice

Me glaring at them with a butter knife

Im not gonna say what happend there at the moment, But the villains agree:>

“Are you alright (Y/N)-” Dada suddenly stopped when he realized he didn't say miss and lookes at the said girl, Only to sigh in relief.

(Y/N) look at Dada and gesture to the teared up Garu and made a heart by hands breaking them apart, Dada gasp he couldn't believe it!

“Your heartbroken because of Sir Garu!?” He yelled, (Y/N) nodding at him with a frown, Her eyes puffy and her nose was red. He was about to tell it to her uncles but was stopped by her shaking her head and helding her hands together.

Dada can only sigh and tried to make her eat her food which she shook her head at.

“You know..” He started after a 6 minutes of silence, (Y/N) and him were already sitting by the side of the bed, (Y/N)'s face on her knees As she had her legs on her chest hugging them, Dada beside her in an angel sit motion. “You shouldn't let this bring you to your dirt, Im not good with words but Im saying this for you to try and find your passion..” He said, He turn to her and smile as she looks at him.

He looks at her as her eyes slowly open showing a bit of her (E/C) to him which everyone rarely sees.

“Maybe Going to Japan will be a new start for you” Dada once again said, “We may not be there but, We're always here to support you.” He said with another smike but this time a close eyes smile, (Y/N) wided her eyes before launching at Dada hugging him.

“Your always welcome Ms (Y/N)” Dada stopped when (Y/N) shook her head, gesturing him to just call her (Y/N) Instead. Dada nodded with another smile, “Alright (Y/N), You better each your lunch now.” He said before standing up, And leaving her room.

(I have great respect for Dada now no cap)

(Y/N) finally eat her meal thanking her uncle for the food silently, Before starting to re design her room to a normal room, Garu things are now on the Trash and tidy up her room like good as new.

As she finally settled in with just basic things and missing furniture since some Garu posters can't be really taken out so she has to throw them out the window, She didn't kill anybody don't worry.

But I think she injured someone... oh well.

She was about to take a new bath to refresh herself, before she noticed the letter from her pockets, She took it out before opening it.

「Dear (Y/N),

I think you already heard from your uncle that im giving you a scholarship for my school, You have nothing to worry about. I'll provide you with a weekly salary, A Home to stay in, And provide you with things I can handle, There's no exemption other than work hard and find your passion.

It's your decision if you like to come by and start highschool, You're very steong and Passionate so I wanted to invite you to my school because I need more people who has passions for what they like. I hope you find what you truly like to do, Not for anyone but for yourself.

I'll be waiting for your reply.

She stared at it before smiling.

It was decided! She will Attend the school, And find more of her passion!

after reading "one of the girls", it just made me understand how serious poly relationships are because to be honest, not to offend anyone but if I were enha (in this au), I would've never considered getting into a poly relationship because it just isn't for me. like you have to be really selfless to agree to it and you can call me however you want but I just can't see myself letting my partner find other partners. so I think enha boys here are very open-minded and I applaud them for it and also, I'm glad mila recognizes that enhypen are at disadvantage in their relationship (omg sorry that sounds wrong but I hope you get what I mean) and makes sure to love all of them equally (I hope) it was very good thank you again for your delivery dia 🤍🤍

yesssd that’s the whole goal of this fic ig 💟 like there’s nothing to apologise and I don’t think you’d offend anyone bc personally I would consider a poly relationship period, whether it be me in mila’s position and definitely not in enha’s position. like i personally don’t feel comfortable with the idea of a romantic relationship with more then 2 people, and that’s just me, so it makes it interesting for me to write about mila and enha since it’s so different form my beliefs personally… if the main thing is, if everyone is happy and can agree to it, then that’s good for them. but in this case, hee (and jay sunghoon and Jungwon) we’re right to be weary about it, bc they’re in a situation where there are 7 of them—that’s way more than even the normal poly couple… even if they agreed to ‘share’ they wouldn’t exactly guarantee that they would be able to do it in the long run, and I think part of the reason it works out in the of version is bc they’re already so close after forming a group together and they’ve learnt to kinda co exists (that being said the beginning stages were very rocky)) so there’s no villain here. and yes the boys defs deserve a pat on the back for being able to find a way to make it happen, and it’s actually canon that mila would in fact allow them to date another girl as well as her or to leave the relationship entirely if they wanted to bc she understands that it’s not an easy thing to do. but you’re most welcome!! glad to see my fic had you thinking haha 💟💟💟

"Don't Sweat The Technique" is Eric B and Rakim's "Techno Pop". One of the most influential groups of any genre looking for ideas as their time comes to an end, with the genre having finally passed them by.

Rakim was itching to branch out on his own, with Eric needing his meal ticket to stick around. Eric's involvement in this album's production, as with their previous ones, was subject to controversy; this time it was Large Professor whose work was credited to Eric B, echoing what happened on Kool G Rap and DJ Polo's "Wanted Dead Or Alive".

The production itself is indicative of this, built on a range of jazz samples, and sounding more fleshed-out musically than "Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em". In fact, it sounds a lot like Large Professor's work on "Breaking Atoms".

It was this album that best indicates the passing of time since "Paid in Full". Arguably the most famous track off "Breaking Atoms" is "Live At The Barbecue"; well-known for an incredible debut verse from ("Nasty") Nas. His style was concise while also evocative, and was hugely influenced by Rakim's work. He was not the only big name of the so-called "Golden Age" who was, but in releasing what is still hip-hop's most heralded album, he ushered in a new age for the genre.

"Don't Sweat The Technique" is a great album, but also an indicator that the point had been made over the last 3 albums. Rakim wanted to go solo in order to expand his scope creatively, but Eric B was more reluctant. Thus, the album consists of a couple of songs already heard from film soundtracks, some different takes on subjects of varying quality, and some simple breakbeat tracks reminiscent of previous work.

The album begins with "What's On Your Mind" from the House Party 2 soundtrack; a soulful pop song about love that screams "airplay", and works well enough at that. It's at least better than their turn on "Friends" by Jody Watley. "Teach The Children" is a vague attempt at a socially-conscious track, with a middling beat and bad chorus. Forgettable stuff; the next track, "Pass The Hand Grenade", is much better; a song reminiscent of "Lyrics of Fury" or "Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em". It's a breakbeat with Rakim excelling in his comfort zone, creatively telling everyone what a great rapper he is.

"Casualties of War" is a complete change from this; Rakim speaks from the POV of an American soldier in the Gulf War, experiencing the death of his comrades, feeling conflicted about his role in the war, and suffering with PTSD afterwards. He never sounds like he's stretching himself, and it's a hard-hitting song that ranks as one of the group's best. "Rest Assured" is back to normality; musically it's another track that's fleshed out, with crashing drums and soul samples, but it's business as usual for Rakim.

"The Punisher" is one of the duo's most bizarre. A good beat, filled with cowbells and jazz samples, is complemented by Rakim's unique rap. His screaming delivery is unlike anything he's done before or since, and goes completely against the carefully-crafted persona of the perpetually unmoveable, chilled-out deep thinker. It's difficult to justify lyrics like, "KILL 'EM AGAIN! AGAIN AND AGAIN! AGAIN AND AGAIN!" but even if the album feels like the duo coasting, this will live long in the memory. It's also an early entry in the horrorcore subgenre that a certain white Rakim devotee would repeat to great acclaim later on (not Cage; the other one).

Whoever sequenced the album deserves a raise, as that display is followed by "Relax With Pep", a song about him being relaxed. This and "Keep The Beat" are another couple of songs that follow the formula: okay beats, great raps by Rakim about the same topic. After that, Rakim comments on the experience of disadvantaged black men living in the US projects. Calling such a song "What's Going On?" is always going to create unreachable expectations, and as things stand, it's...okay. The rap's good enough, the beat isn't.

Next is another already-released song, "Know The Ledge" - previously "Juice (Know The Ledge") off of the Juice soundtrack. This is the high point of the album, and one of the duo's best in any book. A simple, pacy but jazzy beat has Rakim rapping from the POV of a schoolboy that turns to dealing drugs. It's a cautionary tale in the vein of "Children's Story" - the boy gets caught up in the glamour of crime, before being murdered at the end. Rakim never sounds preachy in what is an interesting take on a familiar theme. One would think that Dr. Dre heard this and missed the intended irony, demanding that Rakim rap about these same themes later on.

"Don't Sweat The Technique" is a great, jazz-infused beat with Rakim telling people what a chilled-out great rapper he is. "Kick Along" closes the album with a stylistic (if not lyrical) shift, with Rakim rapping over a fast beat and not sounding stretched at all.

The album as a whole is competent; but it's dull in a way that makes one think it was lucky that things ended here. A year afterwards, Rakim worked with the Bomb Squad's Gary G-Wiz on "Heat It Up". Eric B's next work was the amusing "Still Paid"; basically an attempt to carry on regardless. Not to defend it, but there have been many worse producer-rappers. A year after that, Rakim re-established his reputation with "The 18th Letter", proving that while he still had it, the group couldn't have continued after this logical end.

Also there is CostPlusDrugs - I have four prescriptions. I don't have insurance for prescriptions. I saved $233.20 on those four prescriptions with a huge near $150 savings on an anti-anxiety medication that makes it so I can almost function (and the prescription is being increased in dosage so it would be more expensive but hopefully will do more for helping me out). The disadvantage of CostPlusDrugs is most insurers won't cover the meds, but when I had insurance I paid more for my copays than I am without insurance through CostPlusDrugs. So yeah. Definitely consider them as well. (That said, you will also have to pay to have the drugs delivered... but expedited delivery was still only $15 and normal delivery $5 so...)

Nurturing Health: From Mothers to Children in Rural KZN Communities

Take a moment to think about your mother. Is her health important to you? Why? What do you think would have happened to you if your mother got very ill or even passed away during childbirth? Would you be the person you are today if this would have happened?

Now, think about the role mothers play in your household, and in society in general. What would happen if there were no mothers in society, or if most of the mothers were ill and could not attend to their roles as a mother? If your mother was ill or passed away when you were very young due to illness or as a result of childbirth complications, do you think you would be healthy, or would you even have someone to care for you full-time?

These questions highlight the importance of maternal and child health. The questions may seem scary, obvious, or thought-provoking for some people. Healthy mothers are the foundation of strong families and knitted communities, and their health and well-being are crucial in society.

In the rural communities of MR and MH, in KZN, where I have been placed to work as an OT student for clinical fieldwork, mothers are seen near their homes, with their children or caring for other people’s children during the day.

Maternal health focuses on the well-being of women during their pregnancy, during childbirth and in the postpartum period. As maternal health focuses on the well-being of the mother during the stages of becoming a mother, it is impossible to overlook child health when speaking about maternal health. Maternal and child health is not only about preventing mortality, but it is also about ensuring that both the mother and child have quality of life. The health and well-being of mothers and children have impacts on their ability to engage in their activities of daily living to their full potential, it impacts the child’s ability to achieve their developmental milestones, as well as having an impact on their future (Mudiyanselage et al., 2024).

Mothers’ roles normally include caring for their children, providing for their families, engaging with other members in the area and contributing to their community. As the primary carer, a mother’s health during pregnancy and the postpartum period contributes to their child’s health in early childhood (Avan et al., 2010). Maternal physical and mental well-being are influenced by coexisting medical conditions, like diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and hypertension; continuous stress; maternal characteristics, including, age, employment, support, and education; living conditions, economic status and the events that occurred during the pregnancy and delivery. Poor maternal physical health causes an increased risk of physical, social and emotional consequences in the child’s life. Health issues such as low birth weight, chronic health issues or stress in early childhood can be foreseen to put the child at an increased risk of physical and mental health concerns later in their lives (Avan et al., 2010) (Mudiyanselage et al., 2024).

Mothers and children who are from disadvantaged backgrounds deal with more significant burdens concerning health than those who do not come from disadvantaged backgrounds. These health burdens include living in remote areas, poor living conditions, limited access to clean water, poor hygiene and sanitation, alcohol and drug use, teenage pregnancies, and limited financial resources (Mudiyanselage et al., 2024).

Implications for Occupational Therapy Practice:

The importance of maternal and child health has direct implications for OT practice at a community level.

Holistic Assessments and Interventions for Maternal and Child Health

During my first week in the rural communities in KZN, I have noticed that the community members have many factors that are affecting their health and well-being, and trying to fix one area is not going to be effective.

As OTs, we strive to provide holistic treatment to clients, and I believe this is even more important in these disadvantaged communities, as they do not only face medical aspects that affect maternal and child health but also socio-economic and environmental factors. So, to address the needs of the mothers and children to support their health and well-being, we need to conduct assessments which are holistic and cover all aspects of their lives and then using that, create intervention programmes that are also holistic.

Health Promotion and Education

As OTs, our role and responsibility include health promotion and education. For maternal and child health, our aim, especially in disadvantaged communities like MH, is to educate pregnant women and mothers to empower them with the skills and knowledge that will not only help improve their own health and well-being but also their children’s health, whether born or not. By educating them on various topics, like proper nutrition, prenatal care, normal development and milestones for their children, and the consequences of destructive habits and poor lifestyle choices.

Community Support Groups

The community in MR is tightly knit and supportive of one another. Due to their caring and generous nature in lending a helping hand to those in need, I believe that a community support group for mothers and expectant mothers would be a great programme to implement. These groups can provide ongoing support and assistance in navigating motherhood, reduce feelings of loneliness, share information and advice on ways to deal with specific issues they are facing, how to improve health outcomes for mothers and their children, as well as a platform to address problems like poor lifestyle choices and their impact on their child’s health, their child’s developmental milestones, prenatal care, nutrition for both the mother and child, and the importance of addressing and talking about mental health issues they may be facing as mothers. This would lead to improved health outcomes and increased knowledge about maternal and child health in the community.

The images below illustrate a new mother’s interactions within a community. Picture 1 shows a new mother encountering a community member who appears indifferent to her struggles. In contrast, Pictures 2, 3, and 4 show her in a support group with other new mothers who share similar feelings, providing a sense of universality and comfort (Rossmiller, 2023). In this setting, the impart information which helps members gain confidence and a sense of altruism, enhancing their self-esteem and purpose (Rossmiller, 2023). These therapeutic factors foster unity and support personal growth, aiding mothers in navigating both maternal and child health challenges within a nurturing group environment. This illustration series demonstrates the support groups that would benefit the MR community, as a way to help enhance maternal and child health in the community and foster support.
