the latest game I've tried is Dinkum which is super fun because of all the birds everywhere but why - why - does every stardew/animal crossing - esque game have you go fishing and bug catching

I do not care for fishing and bug catching

why can't I catalogue the cool birds instead

also I'm not Australian, but I'm pretty sure salties aren't just. everywhere. waiting to eat you. at the drop of a hat. tagging @i-draws-dinosaurs for confirmation?

i love dinkum because i be chilling for a while and then i'm fighting a crocodile to the death for no apparent reason

I don't dislike the art style of dinkum, but i do wish you could have rounded tiles, kinda like how in animal crossing you can round off corners when terraforming. I fully understand and accept why you can't though.

Regardless, it's a remarkable game! I'm impressed (and a little overwhelmed).

Griefs I've made in various games because im bored idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ FO76, GTA5 (x2), RDRO, TS4

@arradraws transferred grief's hair and outfit for me in TS4 (though his hair is a lil buggy). and I'm positive that it's impossible to make a good looking masculine character unless you are a wizard or use third party programs FO76 was just. bad. lol. none of the hair was good and the eyes all too dark and weird. I actually quite like RDRO Grief. and he had golden gryphon boots! GTA5 Grief was so fun. I had SO many outfits for him

Do any of you guys play video games?

I have an Insta dedicated just to my video games. I play all kinds of games from hack-and-slash to shooter but for the most part I post my cozy games because they involve so much decorating and they're prettier.

The cozy games I have played/am playing are Animal Crossing New Horizons, Stardew Valley, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Coral Island, House Flipper, Dinkum, My Time At Portia, My Time At Sandrock, Grow: Song of the Evertree, Fae Farm, Farm Together, No Place Like Home, Cozy Grove, Hokko Life, and a little of Palia though admittedly I'm having a hard time staying interested in Palia.

I've also been playing Hogwarts Legacy, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Witcher III Wild Hunt and have played Dying Light, Days Gone, The Division, Fallout IV, Halo, Fable, Destiny and many more.

Anyway, I made this post in case you guys wanna give me a follow. I'm usually not the type to shamelessly plug but ever since they changed Instagram to only showing people the top posts when they search something, I get absolutely ZERO interactions on my posts. It's crazy. My account wasn't super popular or anything but I at least got SOME feedback before. I hate what they've done to Instagram.

Dinkum, The Aussie Cosy Life

Dinkum is so underrated. I feel like I never hear anyone talk about it on my feed, but I love this game so much, so I want to give it the attention it deserves! Me and my bestie love playing this game, we are both autistic + adhd and love cosy games so anything we can play together for a joint hyperfixation leads to a fun chaotic time. 

Like Stardew Valley, Dinkum is worked on by one person, James Bendon! The game is still in early access and the developer is slowly putting out lots of love in updates. I have been playing this game for way over a year now and I love watching what new goodies are brought in.

The game feels most comparable to animal crossing gameplay but without the mass villagers. You spend most of your time harvesting, mining, metal-detecting, doing daily NPC requests, fishing and bug-catching. You can also explore, decorate, cook and care for animals. You make money and work towards creating a thriving town by inviting all the NPCs to join your island. 

Dinkum is based in Australia! Which I love. I feel immersed in Australian culture when playing. Prepare to get your ass beat by some alpha crocodiles and alpha kangaroos! One of my favourite NPC in the games is called Irwin, he owns the animal store. He is super wholesome and I love how the devs have honoured the legacy of Steve Irwin within the game.

This game is definitely a slow burner, I personally wouldn’t suggest going into this game expecting to get its full experience within the first year of playthrough. Progression takes time, especially if you want to enjoy the later game features. 

However, the game feels very interactive to play, I love the hand trolley and wheelbarrow and how you are moving everything around visually instead of it just going into the bags. 

There is quite a bit more quality of life I would like to see from Dinkum still in the future. I would love to see improvements to the levelling farming early game, NPC locations on the map, a sandbox/creative mode, the pineapple plant re-growing instead of destroying, and possibly animal automation? I would also love to see improvements to multiplayer, currently, it won’t recognise another player as living there, but it would be good to have the option for them to have more control over things.

As I mentioned, I’m currently doing a second playthrough with my bestie! We are slowly working on creating a bigger town with roads and larger farms. We are in the middle of moving everything over to the middle and it is so fun watching it all come together! 

I am excited about the future of Dinkum. It has such charm to it. There is so much potential there and I’m truly looking forward to seeing what the dev has planned!
