Cancel me for this if you want, but as a lifelong pagan, I hate wiccans.
Wicca isn't real paganism. It was invented in the 50s and it's intrinsically tied to racism, cultural appropriation and its practitioners don't respect the (often closed) practices it steals from.
Most wiccans are just going through a phase, and they'll eventually find real paganism or "find Christ" (usually Catholicism) eventually when they outgrow their goth phase. I don't take Wicca seriously.

I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania, it was named for the man who built an inn and tavern on a road leading to York (Dill Tavern in Dillsburg, PA), people have been renovating and escavating and such for years to preserve it and recreate various things for a history museum and living history events
My favorite was that in the attic and some other places with exposed beams, they found the carpenter had written his name. In fact, every surviving building that had work done in the area in a certain span of years bears his name. All over town, unifying history buildings and even the older buildings that got additions and such, "Matthew was here" is written in the wood. (The bad thing is I'm bad at names and history so I think his name was Matthew but idk)
My other favorite (tangentially related even if it's not workers specifally) is there was a huge China cabinet that was in the formal dining room of the home portion of the tavern. They knew once it was in place they weren't going to move it, so all the kids and friends wrote their names and other little messages on the wall behind it before it was placed. Over the centuries that room was painted several times, but no one ever moved the cabinet to do so, so (1) they know the original wall color and have since reverted it to that color and (2) those names were all protected and can still be seen there today
There was just something so vicersal to my 6th grade self about seeing "x was here" written from the 1700s when I had watched someone write that in chalk on the school like a week ago, like the fact the same saying was used to mark that I WAS HERE, even if im not anymore, and sometimes my mark may be gone in the next rain but others it will reach forward in time so you know i was here as well
WHAT is that one poem (?), abt a modern worker contemplating the numerous forgotten who were actually responsible for all the ‘great’ deeds of history

Embarking on Your Deck-Building Journey: Where to Begin
Visualizing Your Ideal Outdoor Sanctuary: Begin your deck-building journey by envisioning your perfect outdoor sanctuary. Picture how you'll utilize the space – whether it's for hosting vibrant gatherings, unwinding amidst nature, or simply enjoying moments of tranquility. Envision the layout, features, and ambiance that resonate with your lifestyle and preferences, setting the stage for a personalized retreat right in Dillsburg, PA.
Surveying Your Property: Take a close look at your outdoor space, considering its size, shape, and existing landscape. Note any factors like sunlight exposure, terrain variations, and existing structures that may influence your deck design. Understanding these unique characteristics enables you to tailor your plans to seamlessly integrate with the surroundings, maximizing both functionality and aesthetics.
Establishing a Realistic Budget: Setting a budget is essential for any home improvement project, including deck construction. Determine your financial parameters early on and prioritize features and materials accordingly. While it's tempting to indulge in extravagant amenities, staying within budget ensures a financially prudent investment that enhances your property's value without overstretching your resources.
Navigating Local Regulations: Familiarize yourself with local building codes and regulations governing deck construction in Dillsburg, PA. Obtain any necessary permits and approvals to ensure compliance with legal requirements and avoid potential delays or complications. Partnering with a reputable contractor like Nevins Construction ensures adherence to all applicable regulations while streamlining the construction process for a seamless experience.
Drawing Inspiration: Seek inspiration from diverse sources – such as home improvement magazines, online galleries, and local architecture – to fuel your creativity and refine your design vision. Take note of design elements, materials, and color schemes that resonate with your style and preferences. Collaborate with experienced professionals to translate your inspirations into a custom deck design that reflects your individuality and lifestyle.
Designing Your Dream Deck: Key Considerations
Tailoring to Your Lifestyle: A well-designed deck harmoniously blends form and function to cater to your specific needs and preferences. Consider how you'll utilize the space – whether it's for dining, entertaining, or relaxation – and allocate areas accordingly. Integrate features like built-in seating, dining alcoves, and outdoor kitchens to optimize usability and enhance comfort for you and your guests.
Selecting Premium Materials: Choose high-quality materials that offer a balance of durability, aesthetics, and low maintenance for enduring enjoyment. Explore options such as composite decking, hardwoods, and eco-friendly alternatives that withstand the elements and resist wear and tear. Collaborate with your contractor to select materials that align with your budget and design goals, ensuring a stunning and resilient deck that stands the test of time.
Prioritizing Safety and Accessibility: Safety is paramount when designing your deck, especially if you have children, pets, or elderly family members. Install robust railings, lighting fixtures, and slip-resistant surfaces to minimize hazards and ensure a secure environment for all users. Incorporate accessibility features like ramps, wide pathways, and barrier-free entrances to accommodate individuals of all ages and abilities.
Enhancing Aesthetics with Landscaping: Integrate landscaping elements into your deck design to enhance its visual appeal and create a cohesive outdoor living space. Incorporate lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and decorative planters to soften hardscape elements and add natural charm. Explore options such as arbors, pergolas, and trellises to provide shade, privacy, and architectural interest, enhancing the beauty and ambiance of your deck.
Customizing Finishing Touches: Elevate your deck's aesthetic appeal and functionality with thoughtful finishing touches and accessories. Select outdoor furniture, cushions, and accents that complement your design scheme while providing comfort and style. Personalize the space with decorative elements like outdoor rugs, throw pillows, and artwork to infuse personality and warmth into your outdoor retreat.
