Tumblr media
The gates of Kedarnath one of the holiest shrines of India and among the 11 Jyotirlings of Lord Shiva has finally opened and its online portals are opened as well.
“Respecting the sentiments of the devotees at the time of crisis, we are preparing to hold virtual darshan of Char Dham. People will be able to take a glimpse of the gods by a click of their remote. I spoke to the chief minister and he gave permission for the same,” tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said about the opening of Kedarnath Tample.
As the Char Dham Yatra has been interrupted due to the Covid-19 flood in which the country is flowing, only a handful of priests and administrators were available at the event. Denoting happiness at the reopening of the Kedarnath temple, Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat wished for the good health of all people.
The Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj expressed confidence that the pandemic will be overcome soon and that the Char Dham Yatra will begin once the situation normalizes. On Monday, the Covid-19 guidelines were observed during the reopening of the Kedarnath shrine.
Rawal Bhimashankar and chief priest Bagesh Linga, Rudraprayag DM, and BD Singh entered the temple’s main courtyard from the east gate and the doors of Lord Kedarnath temple were opened at exactly 5 am after the chanting of prayers at the main gate. Once the temple’s doors were opened, the chief priest Bagesh Linga awakened the Symbhu Shivalinga from the Samadhi, and Shringar and ‘Rudra Abhishek pujas’ were performed after the Nirvana Darshan. The first puja was performed on behalf of the PM,” said Harish Gaur from Char Dham Devasthanam Board.
As per the SOPs that are circulated by the Devasthanam Board, the use of face masks, hand sanitizers, and thermal screening has been made obligatory among other dimensions. Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that with the opening of the Kedarnath shrine, the accomplishment of works beneath the Kedarnath master plan will increase the pace. Partners of the district authority, police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) accompanying the Health Department, electricity department, and Jal Sansthan are offering their particular works at the Kedarnath temple.
Harish Gaur added the doors of Shri Badrinath Dham will open at 4:15 am on May 18. Do tell us about your excitement to visit Kedarnath Temple in the comment section below.

How to reach Kedarkantha
Sankri village is the base camp for the trek. To reach Sankri, one must travel nearly 220km from Dehradun. There are good roads and you can also take local taxis or buses from Dehradun. There is a good chance that the trek will begin from there in the morning. At 9,100 feet, the first stop is Juda ka Talab. This is a 5 hour trek. You can stop for the day, then climb up to the summit of Kedarkantha package the next morning.
Kedarkantha:
Before starting the trek, one can stay at a homestay/hotel or guest house in Sankri. Camping is possible at different bases camps while trekking. You can rent tents and sleeping bags starting at Sankri village.
Culinary Experience
Uttarkashi is well-known for its specialties in travel communities. You can find authentic local options in Sankri village. You can find 'Koda ki Roti, 'Palak ka Saag’ and many other authentic options. This place is surrounded by huge Garhwal Himalayan peaks.
Kedarkantha Trek is open during winters. Many trekkers are interested in climbing up the hill. The majority of tourists come from Mumbai, Gujarat, and Delhi. We are asked by them to provide authentic food, so we take them to the nearby villages to sample some of the best food.
Uttarkashi Prakash Singh Khatri, District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO), added more information about trekking and safety among Covid-19. He stated that November and December are the best months to visit Kedarkantha trip. We have seen a steady increase in tourists since the government lifted travel restrictions. Rishikesh alone recorded over 6,000 tourists coming in for river rafting in the last three days, said Dinesh Bhatt, president of Rafting Association in Rishikesh.
He also added that the comeback has been well with business picking up, but the rafting companies are still facing minor losses while they are practicing physical distancing along.
“In the past ten days, since the Uttarakhand government allowed resumption of river rafting, Rishikesh has welcomed over 8,000 tourists, with almost 6,000 people coming to participate in river rafting in the past three days over the long weekend,” said Bhatt.
Tumblr media
“Earlier, ten persons were allowed in a single raft, but now, only four tourists are going, with two guides in one raft. We have not increased our prices, so we are facing some loss, but safety is important for us,” Bhatt said.
“I am happy that our step towards resuming the adventure sports activities have achieved the desired results and has attracted a large number of adventure seekers to the state,” Dilip Jawalkar, secretary for tourism in Uttarakhand said. He also said, adventure tourism is a major component in the state’s overall tourism industry.
He said that since activities for tourists are being reopened, the state government expects full cooperation from all the stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of rules and guidelines to control the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
