Brutal Ghost, a man built for battle. Cold, detached, unemotional Ghost, scaring every new recruit off with a single glare. Moody, brooding Ghost who doesn’t entertain small talk that doesn’t interest him. A sergeant adopted a puppy? Uninteresting. Someone is going for tea with their grandmother? Don’t care. Ghost who Price silently worries about, all the time.
But,
Simon Riley who crashes into bed with you, his large, cold hands coming under your shirt to steal your warmth away. His chest vibrating with a chuckle as you gasp, failing to squirm away from his cold touch before he pulls you closer to him.
Simon Riley who wakes up before you, his feet slapping against the pavement in the light morning sun, running just a little faster than during his mandated drills, to get home to you just a little quicker.
Simon Riley who wakes you up with a steaming cup of your morning brew, settling down by your side, his hand sweeping your hair away from your face to gaze at you. Kisses peppered all over your face, a soft smile growing as he watches your nose scrunch up from the interruption of sleep.
Simon Riley who puts your favourite mugs on the highest shelf, the one you can’t reach, just so you can ask for his help. “There ya’ go shorty,” a wry smile on his face as you grumble at his quip.
Simon Riley who just HAS to have a hand on you at all time. His digits engulfing yours when you walk around shops together. A soft hand resting on your lower back as you wash dishes. He grasps your hip, his face nesting in the crook of your neck as you both rest on the sofa after a long day of doing nothing.
Simon Riley who seldom uses your name, a grumble of, “darlin’”, or “angel”, maybe even a, “my love” bouncing off the walls of your shared space.
Simon Riley who wanders local markets in his free time, spotting something sparkly that is way too expensive, only to walk home with a small bag in his hand containing the pretty gift for his pretty girl.
Simon Riley who is convinced the dryer is eating his shirts and hoodies, only to spot you curled up on the couch engulfed by the offending ‘missing’ article.
Simon Riley who sends you pictures of fluffy little cats who saunter up to him on his morning runs, seemingly unintimidated at his gargantuan size, just to imagine the smile and giggle you let out when you see them.
Simon Riley who was made for unwavering devotion to you.

what do you like about cars?
I think you knew, upon asking this, that I could only ever have answered with either an ironic one-liner or a dozen-part novel. And unfortunately, this is already the second line, so novel it is. So then, without any further ado than the literal half year that’s gone by since this was asked, let's go.
1. Engineering matters
At the end of last year (aka when I started writing this, yikes) my dear old iPhone 6S moved on to a new home because it simply wasn't keeping up with me anymore. (And again, I was using an iPhone 6S in 2023. If I say a phone is too slow, it's too slow.) I had plenty of criteria for the replacement: a smallish screen not overboard on resolution, ideally a physical media control button and/or vibration toggle, repairability, a FUCKING AUX JACK... Something like the Sony Xperia 10, whose only real issue is marketing so trash you've only just now learned Sony never stopped making phones.
And yet...
This fancy wallpapers-sporting foldable is a Motorola RAZR 5G, a phone whose too-big screen already broke (though at the edge due to adhesive issues) and those who dared try warn repairing it will be as hard as phone repairs get. Why the fuck did I buy this? Well, because it has something more important than the aux jack, proper sizing, and good cameras: it made me go “That’s so cool!”, and when’s the last time a phone made you say that? It's the cusp of a new technology, and whether it becomes the future of phones, a future of phones, or just a weird footnote, it is an island of interesting in a sea of boring. And sadly, even this island is rapidly sinking. The drive for new form factors has already boiled down to the same two phones and their evolution is sinking into the usual millimetric proportion tweaking, camera rearranging, touchscreen expanding, case material switching, fingerprint sensor moving, and spec improvements not even manufacturers can come up with use cases for. I mean, seriously, how does the iPhone 15 differ from a software-updated iPhone X (which is apparently not pronounced "x", so I guess the iPhone Twitter)? Nothing is new. Nothing is tackled differently. The user experience does not differ. And why should it, when iPhone users will get a new one out of habit anyway and many are so tech illiterate moving a button could hospitalize them? Five generation newer and 150% faster are numbers you basically have to trust, because they don't make a difference that matters.
But in cars? 150% faster will matter alright. Even just looking at it. Cars are a visceral experience to even witness, let alone ride in or drive, and the frantic engineering pursuits for performance and overall capability actually have impactful real world implications beyond "some pockets will bulge 1mm less". And their engineering involves so many fields that there’s always a breakthrough going on somewhere - which leads to another reason their engineering is so interesting: there’s simply so much of it that anyone interested in engineering will find something for them, no matter their level or sector of expertise! Interested in mechanics? Well, obviously you’ll have a field day! Aerodynamics? Don't even get me started! Electronics? You're getting more goods by the year! It spread from engine management to safety assists to infotainment to ergonomic adjustments to even suspension and aerodynamics! Sound design? Even just working on the way engines sound is a profession of its own, let alone making these barrels of metal and glass propelling themselves at triple digit speeds through hundreds of explosions a second things you can comfortably have a conversation in - and that's not even mentioning horns and chimes! Hi-Fi? We’ve spent most of a century trying to get concert hall sound from a tiny tin can where everyone sits off-center and everything bumps and shakes around and you have maybe room for two components* a third the normal size and speakers can only be in a handful of places you wouldn’t want them which may well be the next room over**!
And this is just engineering.
*Like everything in the car world, there are exceptions to that
**For those unfamiliar, subwoofers, the speakers dedicated to, indeed, sub-bass, due to their frequent humongousness are often installed in the trunk.
#stay tuned for part 2!#sony phones *are* great btw#they are sold in actual colors and they're full of cool features#their aux jack can double as a stereo input!!!

These claims of an extinction-level threat come from the very same groups creating the technology, and their warning cries about future dangers is drowning out stories on the harms already occurring. There is an abundance of research documenting how AI systems are being used to steal art, control workers, expand private surveillance, and seek greater profits by replacing workforces with algorithms and underpaid workers in the Global South.
The sleight-of-hand trick shifting the debate to existential threats is a marketing strategy, as Los Angeles Times technology columnist Brian Merchant has pointed out. This is an attempt to generate interest in certain products, dictate the terms of regulation, and protect incumbents as they develop more products or further integrate AI into existing ones. After all, if AI is really so dangerous, then why did Altman threaten to pull OpenAI out of the European Union if it moved ahead with regulation? And why, in the same breath, did Altman propose a system that just so happens to protect incumbents: Only tech firms with enough resources to invest in AI safety should be allowed to develop AI.
[...]
First, the industry represents the culmination of various lines of thought that are deeply hostile to democracy. Silicon Valley owes its existence to state intervention and subsidy, at different times working to capture various institutions or wither their ability to interfere with private control of computation. Firms like Facebook, for example, have argued that they are not only too large or complex to break up but that their size must actually be protected and integrated into a geopolitical rivalry with China.
Second, that hostility to democracy, more than a singular product like AI, is amplified by profit-seeking behavior that constructs increasingly larger threats to humanity. It’s Silicon Valley and its emulators worldwide, not AI, that create and finance harmful technologies aimed at surveilling, controlling, exploiting, and killing human beings with little to no room for the public to object. The search for profits and excessive returns, with state subsidy and intervention clearing the way of competition, has and will create a litany of immoral business models and empower brutal regimes alongside “existential” threats. At home, this may look like the surveillance firm and government contractor Palantir creating a deportation machine that terrorizes migrants. Abroad, this may look like the Israeli apartheid state exporting spyware and weapons it has tested on Palestinians.
Third, this combination of a deeply antidemocratic ethos and a desire to seek profits while externalizing costs can’t simply be regulated out of Silicon Valley. These are fundamental attributes of the industry that trace back to the beginning of computation. These origins in optimizing plantations and crushing worker uprisings prefigure the obsession with surveillance and social control that shape what we are told technological innovations are for.
Taken altogether, why should we worry about some far-flung threat of a superintelligent AI when its creators—an insular network of libertarians building digital plantations, surveillance platforms, and killing machines—exist here and now? Their Smaugian hoards, their fundamentalist beliefs about markets and states and democracy, and their track record should be impossible to ignore.

oct' 31 x trick or treat
Prompt: trick or treat (something sweet this way comes p.III) Pairing: marcus pike x f!Reader Word Count: 2,524 Warnings: barely beta'd is the name of the game, all mistakes are my own. mentions of baking, a tiny dash of spice, no spoilers here 💕 Summary: maplewood, a small town nestled in northern bc where people flock to see the changing blossom trees and celebrate the fall season. after losing your job you find yourself a part of the community which includes the towns baker who left a less than stellar impression on you. AO3: coming soon
A/N: It's here! The conclusion to this terribly sweet Marcus Pike story and my October prompts!
x. masterlist x. something sweet this way comes part I x. something sweet this way comes part II
As October inched towards its end, the energy in Maplewood shifted towards an almost palpable excitement. Fairy lights had been strung up between the buildings, ghosts and witches dangled from the trees, and pumpkins of all shapes and sizes sat proudly in shop windows.
You had thrown yourself with full vigour into your job search, declaring that your sabbatical in Maplewood would need to come to an end at some point. So you’d dusted off your resume, worked on cover letters and created many alerts of vacancies between Toronto and Vancouver.
And then, the offer came. A job back in Toronto. On paper, it was everything you had been working towards: good pay, room for advancement, a chance to move back to the bustling metropolis you knew so well.
Just two months ago, you would have snatched it up without a second thought. But things had changed. Maplewood had seeped into your bones; the small-town charm, the sense of community, and the friendships you'd formed had given you a newfound perspective on what ‘home’ could mean.
Adding another layer to your already complicated emotional landscape, was Libby.
“You know,” she said one evening, “the tourism board has an opening. It's in digital marketing,” Libby continued as you both sat in the living room above the bookstore, you with a new mystery novel and her with a cup of herbal tea. “They're expanding their team, and I thought of you immediately. You'd be perfect for it.”
You looked up from your book, “That does sound interesting,” you admitted, your mind racing as you weighed the options.
“Just think about it,” Libby advised, noting your indecision. “You don't have to make up your mind right away.”
But time was not a luxury you had. The job in Toronto needed an answer soon, and the Trick or Treat Parade was just around the corner, a reminder that life in Maplewood moved at its own pace, whether you were ready or not.
And then there was Marcus.
Amidst the excitement for the end of the month Trick or Treat Parade, you had successfully managed to avoid Marcus for the most part since your stint at the bakery.
Whether by luck or meticulous planning, you had kept your interactions brief and formal, a kind of self-imposed exile to protect yourself from... well, you still weren't exactly sure what you were protecting yourself from.
It wasn’t without his efforts either - he’d turned up the afternoon of the Jack-o-Lantern hunt. Libby had been sitting at the counter when she’d glanced up at the store's window seeing Marcus look both ways before jogging across the street. Eyebrows raised, she turned to you, “Marcus is coming over. Do you want me to—”
“Yes,” you interrupted, not even needing to hear the rest, “Libby, you just have to promise me, if Marcus asks for me, say I'm not here, okay?”
Libby chuckled but nodded. “You got it.”
You retreated to the back of the shop, behind rows of bookshelves and out of sight. Moments later, you heard the chime of the front door bell, announcing Marcus' arrival.
“Hey Libby, is—ah, never mind,” Marcus started, seeming to catch himself mid-sentence.
“She's not here,” Libby confirmed, her voice carrying to your hiding spot. “Can I help you with something?”
“Ah, just wanted to drop these off,” Marcus replied. You could almost hear the crinkling of paper, imagining him setting down one of his signature boxes of baked goods on the counter. “For both of you. Consider it a thank you for the help last week.”
“Sure, I'll let her know,” Libby said, slightly hesitant, as if balancing on a tightrope of truth and discretion.
Just as you were thinking you might've pulled off the perfect vanishing act, you accidentally knocked over a stack of newly arrived books with a loud crash. You winced, cursing your clumsiness under your breath.
Back at the front of the store, Marcus raised an eyebrow. “What was that?”
Libby cleared her throat, a little flushed, “Oh, it must be the mice. I've been meaning to deal with that.”
Marcus' voice floated back, laced with a knowing skepticism. “Mice?”
“Uh huh,” Libby nodded.
He gave her a pointed look, “It sounds like a rather large mouse.”
Libby stuttered a response, “I mean, did you see that picture of that rat eating pizza in that New York subway?”
With a departing chime of the bell, Marcus finally left after his conversation with Libby finished, and you waited a full minute before emerging from your hiding spot, guilt written all over your face.
Libby looked at you, then at the box Marcus had left on the counter. “So, what gives? Why are we avoiding Marcus?”
You sighed, finally letting your guard down. “I almost kissed him.”
Libby's eyes widened, her expression shifting from surprise to excitement and then she let out made you wince, “I knew it! I knew you two would be good for each other.”
“Libby, it's complicated,” you said, hoping to dial down her enthusiasm a notch or two.
“What's so complicated?” She nudged the box toward you, lifting the lid to reveal an array of doughnuts and pastries, each more inviting than the last. “The guy leaves you doughnuts, and you're practically swooning. Sounds pretty straightforward to me.”
“It's not about the doughnuts, or the almost-kiss, or any of that,” you said, searching for the right words. "It's about me. I'm confused. I came here to escape my old life, remember? To take a break and figure things out. And suddenly, I'm considering jobs here, thinking about staying in Maplewood, and—”
“Marcus Pike.” Libby finished for you, her eyes softening.
“And Marcus Pike,” you conceded, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders as you admitted it out loud. “Everything was straightforward, come here and take a break, find a job and get back to life, and now? Now it’s like my compass is spinning in every direction and I have no clue what I’m doing.”
Libby moved closer, her eyes sincere. “Look, life doesn’t always fit into neat boxes, and that’s okay. Sometimes the messy parts are what leads us to the most beautiful things.”
“You’re such a romantic, you’ve been hanging around these books too long,” you said, half-teasing but also touched by her words.
“And you’re a realist,” she said with a grin, “That’s why we get along. But sometimes, realists need to let their guard down and see where life takes them,” she replied, pushing the box of pastries closer to you.
You picked one up and took a tentative bite, your thoughts swirling almost as much as the cinnamon in the pastry. As you chewed, you found yourself reflecting on Libby’s words. There was a truth to them that resonated deep within you.
“So, what’s your plan?” Libby finally asked after you’d savoured your bite.
“Plan? Who says I have a plan?” you retorted, a smile creeping onto your face.
“That’s the spirit,” Libby cheered, raising her tea cup in a mock toast.
You clinked your doughnut against her cup.
But as the evening wore on, and you found yourself scrolling through job listings again, your cursor hovered over the tab with the Maplewood tourism board job. What would it be like to build a life here? To become part of this community, to wake up every morning in this sleepy but charming town, and possibly, to explore what it and its residents had to offer?
It was the night of the Trick or Treat parade in the town square.
The evening air was crisp, filled with the smell of autumn leaves and the sugary scent of candy. The Maplewood Town Square had been transformed into a wonderland of Halloween festivities, with strings of orange lights illuminating the dusk, and tables adorned with pumpkins and fall decorations. Kids in costumes scurried about, their laughter and the chatter of their parents filling the air.
You adjusted your witch's hat, the extent of your commitment to dressing up for the occasion. Libby, in contrast, had gone all out, embodying Where's Waldo with red-and-white stripes and a matching beanie. She looked at you and chuckled, "You could've tried a little harder than just a hat."
“I'm wearing all black. That counts for something,” you said, defending your minimalistic approach.
The two of you mingled through the crowd, stopping at various tables to admire the creativity of your neighbors. Your heart thumped a little harder when you saw Marcus’s booth up ahead. He was standing behind a table, handing out intricately designed Halloween sugar cookies to a line of eager children.
“I suppose,” Libby mused, her eyes scanning the crowd as she munched on a caramel apple.
You felt a flutter of nerves in your stomach. You'd run into Marcus a couple days earlier when you’d both awkwardly bumped into each other at the grocery store. Just when you thought you might be able to say something, Ella, who owned the diner, popped between the two of you, asking Marcus about his glazed doughnuts, and you'd taken that as your cue to leave, losing your nerve.
Since then, you'd been keeping an eye out for him but with the town's festivities in full swing for the end of the month it was one missed opportunity after the other and left you feeling that the universe seemed to be giving you every sign that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't meant to be.
And tonight seemed like it was going down the same road.
Marcus looked engrossed now in a conversation with another parent, and you felt that familiar tension creep back in. Just as you thought of moving on, he looked up, catching your eye. For a moment, it was as if the world paused, his gaze locking onto yours. Your heart picked up speed, a sense of anticipation rising.
And then someone screamed, which was followed by the sound of laughter.
All eyes snapped to the spectacle of the haunted house across the way, the moment shattered. When you looked back at Marcus, he was once again absorbed in his work, handing out cookies to a trio of young witches.
“Damn it,” you muttered under your breath.
Libby glanced at you, then over at Marcus surrounded by children eager to fill their bags with treats, “Come on,” she said softly as she hooked arms with you, “Let’s go get some hot cider.”
As the evening wore on, you felt a series of missed chances piling up. It was almost getting humorous. Every time you managed to get close to Marcus's table, he, or you were pulled away—including Sarah, who’d shown up with her arm in a sling wanting to know about your week in the bakery, and then by the Mayor, who wanted to thank Marcus for his contribution to the event.
Finally, resigning yourself to another missed opportunity, you told yourself it was for the best. It was easier this way—easier to keep Marcus at a distance, safely contained within the realm of 'what could have been' rather than risk the messiness of 'what could be.'
As the clock neared the end of the evening, you and Libby began the trek back to her apartment above the bookstore. Libby looked at you, her expression thoughtful. “You know, sometimes when the universe gives you signs, it's not to deter you but to test how much you really want something—or someone.”
You paused, letting her words sink in. Maybe she was right. Maybe these obstacles weren't stop signs but hurdles, gauging whether you'd leap or turn back.
Once you were inside, you looked out the window across the street to Marcus's bakery, now dark but for a single light on in the back.
You didn’t stop to think it through.
Instead you grabbed your jacket, telling Libby to lock up and you'd be back and headed out the door.
As you stepped out into the cool night, a newfound resolve settled in. If the universe was testing you, then it was time to pass with flying colours. And with that, you walked towards the bakery, not knowing what awaited you but ready to find out.
Standing outside the bakery door you paused for a moment, if only to take a deep breath before you knocked the door, hoping it was loud enough to be heard out back.
You heard him shout from the back, “I've got nothing left Bill, Frank will have to go without!”
You knocked again.
When the sound of hurried footsteps drew nearer, Marcus appeared with a perturbed look until he saw you standing there. His eyes widened with surprise as he opened the door.
“Hey,” you said, your voice tinged with a nervous energy you couldn't quite suppress. “Do you have a minute?”
“Of course,” Marcus said, stepping back to let you in.
The bakery felt cozy, its lingering scent of baked goods filling the air as you stepped inside, closing the door behind you.
You hesitated, your gaze falling on the miniature decorative ghosts that decorated the now empty display case. “I think I owe you an apology,” you started.
“What for?”
You licked your lips nervously before turning back to him, “For avoiding you.”
He smiled knowingly, “I had noticed your lack of presence every time I happened to come into the bookstore. I think Libby was starting to run out reasons for your absence.”
You laughed, “Despite living and breathing books, surprisingly creativity is not always her strongest suit.”
“That it's not.”
You smiled and continued, “I guess…” you trailed off trying to find the words, “we almost kissed…” you stuttered, still trying to find the right words.
“And why would that be a reason to avoid me? It felt like you wanted to as much as I did?”
“I did,” you admitted, “but it was complicated.”
“Complicated?”
You chewed at your lip, “Because I've had an offer to take a job back in Toronto.”
“Oh,” the disappointment in his voice was impossible to miss.
“Yeah.”
“Congratulations,” he started, trying to sound more upbeat, “you've always said it was your plan.”
You paused, “Well, it was.”
He cocked an eyebrow in confusion, “Was?”
You offered him a bashful smile, “You're looking at the newest digital marketing coordinator for the Maplewood tourism board.”
“Congratulations again,” he laughed.
Thank you.”
Another silence fell between you, the tension in the room palpable.
Marcus looked at you, his eyes full of something you couldn’t quite put your finger on, but it felt like hope. “So, where does that leave us?”
You took a step closer. “I think that leaves us at the beginning of something. Something I’m willing to explore, that is if you are?”
Marcus closed the gap, his hands finding your face, his touch warm and grounding. “Then let’s start at the beginning.”
As your lips met, it felt like the answer to an unspoken question, a missing piece slotting into place.
And as you kissed, soft and tentative, as if both of you were testing the waters, the uncertainties and what-ifs seemed to melt away, leaving only the palpable sense of a new chapter unfolding.

Hello!
This is Mohammed's family, currently residing in northern Gaza. We have initiated this fundraising campaign to help us leave Gaza for a safer place. Gaza has become uninhabitable. Let me briefly explain our situation.
Mohammed's family consists of:
Father: Mohammed (34 years old)
Mother: Sahar (30 years old)
Daughter: Tala (4 years old)
We are living in unimaginably harsh conditions. After losing our jobs in graphic design and digital marketing, we lost everything... our home, our jobs, our security, even the devices we used to work with, due to the devastating war in Gaza. We are now living in dreadful conditions, without a stable shelter or a source of income.
Our live turned into a nightmare due to the relentless war. Our warm home was not spared from the bombings; it was completely destroyed, and now we live in a small room.
We have endured numerous hardships. We have been displaced more than 5 times within northern Gaza, never reaching Rafah, always besieged under continuous bombardment, witnessing death day after day, miraculously escaping it.
On December 30th, we were trapped for 12 hours in a building belonging to our relatives, under constant airstrikes from planes and tanks. The upper floors were targeted and completely destroyed, but by the grace of God, we miraculously escaped under heavy gunfire and shelling. Mohammad was injured in his desperate attempt to escape danger, and now he suffers from a foot injury, exacerbated by the lack of medical care and malnutrition due to the famine we are facing.
We were forced to grind grains and feed on animal feed to survive. We haven't received aid for months, facing worsening conditions every day.
We separately need your support to leave Gaza and live in peace away from extermination and escape from the difficult living conditions, where bombings occur everywhere and every moment, electricity is scarce, and there is no decent food available. We have endured so much destruction in Gaza.
Please, help us leave Gaza and move to Egypt. The travel cost to cross the Egyptian border is $8,500 per person, and your contributions will be allocated to ensure their safe passage and evacuation from Gaza, in addition to covering the basic costs associated with them.
HOW WILL WE USE THE MONEY ?!
Your donations will give our family motivation to work hard for a new beginning. We decided to start this fundraising to help us to start a new and safe life So please we need your support thank you.
Your Donations cover:
Basic necessities
(water, food, hygiene products, children supplies)
Passport fees
Border crossing fees
Temporary accommodations and flights out of Egypt should we be able to secure them safe passage
In short, you can help us by:
Contributing: Every donation, regardless of its size, makes a difference in our lives.
Promoting: Help amplify our cause by sharing this fundraising campaign with your network of friends and family on social media platforms.
Let's join forces together to give us a new chance at life. We urgently need our support and solidarity.
Thank you for every contribution you make and for standing by their side in these difficult circumstances.
We will always be grateful for your generosity.

Can I ask about your online selling experience? I know you're moving away from Etsy (and I don't blame you!) but just curious about what's worked/what hasn't. Trying to help my mom sell her art but like. She's older and I have never sold art online and can't give her any advice.
Please feel free to tag other artists selling their work as well! Thank you 🙏
Oh I have to be honest I am probably not the best person to ask about this as it's something I've definitely struggled with myself! I will say for what it's worth that I've been seeing a lot of artists struggling lately; no matter how "popular" an artist is, many seem to be reporting sales that are lower than expected even if market research/interest checks/preorders were done.
Everyone is struggling financially right now---it's been this way for YEARS---and art is one of the first luxuries to go.
That said, Etsy worked well for me for a long time. If your mom isn't doing fanart, she should be fine, because my biggest issue with them arose about the fact that I was selling fanart. Some tips I have;
USE EVERY TAG. Etsy has, if I recall correctly, 13 tags you can put on an individual item. Use all 13. Use them for alternative words for what you're selling (if it's a sticker, tag it as a decal, if it's a print, tag it as a poster). Think about who you think would buy this and what weird search terms they may use to try to find it, and think about alternative uses for the item (a trinket dish might also be an ashtray).
HAVE DESCRIPTIVE TITLES. Put the most important words first so people can see what they're getting right away, but don't be afraid of slightly longer titles. Honestly my titles could've and should've been longer, like Sailor Moon Art Nouveau Digital Art Poster Print Multiple Sizes or something.
RUN SALES OFTEN. Even if it's just 10-15% off people will buy something they've been eying for a while when there's a sale, or they'll feel more eager to buy something they've just found if it's on sale.
USE ETSY'S AUTOMATED DISCOUNT OFFERS. Etsy can automatically send a discount code to people who have interacted with your shop, use it. I made more sales from the automated 10% off code sent to people who favorited items than my monthly Patreon discount.
USE ETSY FREE SHIPPING. Shipping via Etsy is pretty cheap, and activating the "free shipping on orders over $35" will boost your spot in the algorithm, will boost the likelihood that people will order from you, and will boost the average cart size of people that order from you.
I RECOMMEND PRINTFUL. I used Printful for selling my larger prints, but they also offer other items if you want to branch out. If you don't want to get in trouble with Etsy, make sure you register it as a manufacturing partner and assign every item that Printful makes for you. Dropshipping on Etsy is a problem, but the problem is people who steal art or use AI to generate images to sell. I don't personally see a problem with someone who makes their art themselves going through a print shop to sell products they don't have the means to create at home. If you don't want to do that, you can check out inprnt. I haven't used them, but many other people have and seem to like it well enough.
SHIP THROUGH ETSY. It doesn't take very long to set up a shipping profile for your items, and it makes shipping easier and cheaper. As long as you get your items out on time, you'll get their shipping star or whatever very quickly and easily and maintain it without problem. It also has the benefit that if a buyer ever has an issue with the shipping, Etsy is more likely to have your back. If for any reason you can't ship through Etsy, I recommend pirateship. Also!! Be more careful about international shipping than you think you should be. There are a lot of confusing international laws regarding sending items as a corporation to those countries that you may not expect, so before you agree to selling something to a foreign country, make sure you check their laws.
I have also tried having an Instagram shop and I'll be fully honest I don't do what I should do with my Instagram. Maybe other people have more successful Instagram shops, but the process it took for me to get it started compared to how many sales I've made as a result of it (literally ZERO), I would not recommend it.
Shopify is good if you have a following somewhere, because you have to bring all the traffic there yourself. That's the benefit of Etsy and Instagram; they are able to make traffic for you. I've never had a following large enough anywhere to feel like I could run a Shopify of my art. Maybe one day.
I don't personally know a lot of artists who sell online successfully, so if you see this and you fall under that category PLEASE SHARE TIPS!!

Going through a list of minor pleasures he'd wished he'd had in his /own/ shitty 1-person apartment, Mads went a little overboard with a housewarming gift. Or maybe a lot overboard. Inside the basket are, carefully arranged: some light-scented cleaning supplies, an extra hand towel for use with them, a soft fleece blanket decorated with circuitry, a new cast-iron pan with spatula, a rolled-up poster of the Grand Canyon, a string of battery-powered color-changing fairy lights, a tied-shut plastic bag of various fresh fruits and vegetables, a tighter-sealed bag with a glowing purple feather, a thicker plastic vase of sugary-smelling fake flowers, and then finally, on top, a tupperware of 20 tiny bite-sized and 12 normal-sized brownies stuck with a star-shaped note.
'Drugs are great and all but I figured I'd contribute a general quality increase to your unexpected and non-ideal new life, I hope this helps. Speaking of the drugs though since you're extra mortal now I reduced the serving size so you don't die, the bigger slices are just regular brownies to have. Enjoy, take care of yourself, and I'm here for you if you need me! -Mads']
>>You manage to stumble into your apartment, still reeling from the feeling of a bullet in the thigh, several hours after it had been removed, the wound itself healed. Leech is weaker than you remember it ever being, but the essences of the soul still heal your wounds... and slakes your thirst. By the time you get there, Mad's basket's been there for around ten minutes or so, and it's a flash of color and delightful smells in an apartment that looks more like a ruined shack from a nuclear wasteland. A pile of scrap-metal climbs up one side of your kitchenette isle-counter/tabletop, and a trio of trash-bags climbs up the other side. A number of hanging plants, some of which are half-dried, others half-harvested for whatever you get out of them.
>>Rifling through the basket with one hand, while you're reading the note, you feel a sort of warmth you haven't felt yet. There hasn't been a friendly face to be found yet- no Wizard bars, no signs of the Gollafain free-market. This basket is a lovely surprise, and one you're quite . Drugs ARE great and all, you agree, and it literally wasn't until Mads suggested it that you realized you probably can't take arcane drugs anymore. You still pop two of those little brownies anyway, and set your new decorations aside. If this is going to be your base of operations, temporarily at least, you ARE going to make it a proper home. Your Datalight Bank, the one you'd custom-rigged with your custom "phone" are gone, but the more standard-issue one you have is fine, and you pass the bag with the feathers over the little black lens; your hand comes back empty, the feathers digitized for later.
Mads you really ARE the best. I can't even tell you how much of a dump I've let this place get to be, this stuff's a godsend. Literally, even.

ok, I've read your article on your website about creating a gn pitch. did you have to pitch Alexander to hiveworks to get it printed? also, was seance published thru hiveworks or another publisher?? how difficult is it to get a publisher to actually pick up your book and have it printed + distributed? sorry for so many questions lol. I have a lot more but I'll refrain for now
Feel free to send your questions but please do separate asks if they are somewhat different subtopics
Alexander
Alexander is a special circumstance because Hiveworks is actually where I work as a dayjob. Staff members and creators already part of Hiveworks can get their webcomics hosted/printed with no barrier should they choose to be picked up by the studio - though they still need to make a pitch document to check whether the content matches the editorial catalogue.
Before this though, I had shopped Alexander out to other traditional graphic novel publishers. Which didn't work out because 1) there is still no viable market for adult graphic novels that isn't political, educational or memoir, 2) Alexander is a risky book, cost-wise and content-wise, 3) I wanted it to be webcomic too, 4) pandemic
Seance Tea Party
Seance Tea Party (and My Aunt is a Monster) is through Random House Graphic, a kids/young adult graphic novel imprint of Penguin Random House - the largest traditional publisher globally. I am only stating this to situate the difference between Alexander and Seance's homes. Hiveworks is absurdly tiny, hyper-independent and almost entirely digital. Random House Graphic is part of a big ecosystem that almost all your favourite authors past and present are part of: bookstores, libraries Hollywood, TV adaptations, ads on the bus or magazines or radio, Oprah's book club, worldwide distribution...
About the difficulty, it really depends on your specific situation.
For starters, you really need to have some kind of record of being able to finish something (mini-comics, a decently sized (100 paged) webcomic)... or in the case of long, ongoing webcomics, the ability to maintain it.
This should be enough to get you to make an attempt for Hiveworks (or Webtoons/Tapas...). But then you also have to consider the genre, subject matter, "representation", length, style of the work you're pitching... all the things I talked about in my GN Pitch article. As I have hinted at Alexander failing at being picked up by traditional publishers, some comics are just not able to break in to certain markets due to a variety of factors. Adult graphic novels are still seen as risky by traditional large imprints, so you tend to see them more in indie publications - like Fantagraphics, D&Q, Selfmade Hero, First Second, Silver Sprocket... or webcomics. However, if you're pitching a kids or young adult book - especially in the memoir, queer contemporary romance, POC (tailored to Western lens, RIP) fantasy, educational genres - then you'll have a way better time.
You still have to look at the publishers and see if your vibes match theirs. Then if you're interested in opening up the option to pitch to traditional imprints (and add more credibility to your submission), you really really really NEED an agent. Some GN imprints like Ballantine or Alfred A Knopf do not accept submissions at all except through agents and known contacts. Pitching to an agent is a whole other barrier... though once you get that agent, you can almost entirely hand over the grueling work of shopping pitches to them.
I think, on average, breaking into publishing is moderately hard. But I cannot guarantee it. I know for myself and a friend of mine, we broke into it easy: we got our agents quickly and secured our first book deals through major traditional publishers - though we had almost a decade of webcomics experience and community presence to back that up. Then for most of my peers/friends, it's months and months of rejection, no answers, editors/agents telling them their work is not for the market etc. Some of them overcome those troubles. Some of them become sick of it and go full independent self-published. Speaking of, there are still options outside of the mainstream. You can engage specialised, single-purpose services like White Squirrel to distribute, or Mixam to print your comics. You can host your work online and gain your own readership through updates, festival appearances, etc.
Again, it really depends on what you want to do, what your work is about, and the fallbacks you have. Please do your research, and prepare your strategies, and approach pitching with a realistic, pragmatic lens. Hope for the best, expect the worst. Everything above your must-have is a bonus.

Chestnut Stud across the Multiverse Party
A Real Dish
18 hummed to herself as she typed and browsed away on her PC tablet while Marron napped peacefully in her room, the blonde cyborg quirking a brow in a Spock-like fashion as she saw a notification for an e-mail from none other than Zig-Zag. Our resident short king's hot sexy wife had struck up quite the friendship with the Siberian Tiger Skunk ever since her hubby had started raking in Double Z studios major views and Zeni as their current human porn star. Who knew there was a market for a human guys on anthro girls? Suffice to say, 18 wasted little to no time in tapping the notification, opening her mail to find it was a video attachment.
Once she checked she was alone and put on her wireless headphones, she hit play and waited for it to load, curious to see what the kinky anthro wanted her to see for her eyes only. Once it loaded and buffered, the video opened up to a scene of someone's point of view from a body cam as they rode in a car, with the hands on the steering wheel being telltale signs that Ziggy was the driver, turning to show Krillin was in the backseat while Tina Lynx sat in the passenger seat. The hybrid and feline babes making small talk with 18's hubby who seemed nervous and hesitant as the passing scenery indicated they were entering some small town suburban neighbourhood. Pulling up to a modest little home as the trio stepped out to make their way to the front door with Zigzag's tone of voice and the pep in her step indicating she was very eager and excited to come here.
The reason for this was made clear as the front door opened to be answered by quite a lovely looking furry milf who the blonde learned went by the name Helen Dish. A dish indeed and Zigzag's tone of voice made it clear she certainly thought so as she greeted the likely single mom like an a dear old friend. A very close, intimate friend indeed if that very tongue heavy kiss she gave her was anything to go by which only made 18's pussy quiver with sensual anticipation. How very kind of the Siberian tiger skunk and her feisty thicc lady friend to have clearly edited this seamlessly so she wouldn't have to be kept waiting to see how spicy this house call was no doubt going to get.
From a brief bit of friendly chatter, the blonde watched as a round of introductions was made with Zigzag of course speaking quite highly of Krillin to, much to 18's growing delight, hot single mom (seems she had quite an amicable divorce with her husband years back and Zigzag had come into her life one day and given her quite the sexual awakening). No doubt chipping away at any hesitation or doubt Helen might've had as it was made plenty clear that she'd never been with a human before, man or woman. Which only made the following make out session between her and Krillin all the more arousing for both Tina and Zigzag as well as 18 as the divorcee's mindset clearly found itself going with the flow more eagerly. Pants and gasps of arousal escaping her sweet lips as she and the short king began to get acquainted with one another physically and intimately, Helen's moans deepening as she felt up the human stud's crotch or hi hands on her special places such as her quite firm breasts or that lovely denim hugging booty.
The clothes were soon flying off in no time as the growing heat of passion and attraction between 18's shortround bull and the hot single furry mama grew like a campfire getting further fuel. Zigzag and Tina chiming in with a little commentary here and there as they and the cyborg watched the now naked human dude and furry babe going at it like horny teenagers. Helen's moans borderline bitch in heat levels as she bumped and ground her furry form against the smooth Adonis physique of the former monk, his fingers 3 digits and knuckle deep in her pussy while she grasped and stroked his cock in her hand. She had clearly never imagined or thought any man, human or other wise especially of Krillin's size could be packing such length and girth, her nectar flowing in response to feeling the twitching pulse and heat radiating from that shaft.
18 made no attempt to resist her hands as they moved of their own accord and proceeded to touch herself all over from groping her own breasts with firm squeezes to plunging her down the front of her jeans and panites to flick her bean. Suppressing her cries of desire as she watched her man and Helen become very intimately acquainted as they were now performing a 69, the milf laying atop her man with him squeezing her furry buns as he had his face pressed deep against her booty. Eating her out while she licked and sucked on his shaft as their arousal was no doubt helped by their two woman audience who were certainly enjoying the erotic documentary happening before them as much as the cyborg was right now. But of course it only got better from there....
Once the foreplay had been played through, 18 was pleased to find Helen now straddling her man's lap as she bounced and rode on Krillin's cock. His hands on her luscious sexy mama asss while he pumped and thrust into the heated, wet snatch of the furry bombshell who held onto his sculpted shoulders. Her moans being drowned out by the occassional kiss she shared with the short as she felt his length and girth reaching and hitting sweet spots she didn't even know she had. But 18 knew her hubby was only just getting started on rocking the hot sexy mama's world.....
From downward dog to full on doggy style and into prone bone and riding that short king's cock cowgirl style, Helen was clearly becoming drunk with pleasure. 18 certainly knew that feeling all too well before she found her enjoyment of this amateur style piece skyrocket as Zigzag and Tina got so turned on that they just had to join in the fray. The one on one becoming a 4 way of her short king and 3 furry hotties as Ziggy placed the camera in an angle and position to catch the action as she ambushed Helen with a kiss while Tina sat and parked her luscious furry booty on Krillin's oh so fine face. And it got wilder from there, naturally.....
From Krillin taking one girl in missionary or from behind as she ate one of the other two out to plowing one as he fingered the other 2, it was an erotic dance of one man and 3 beautiful anthro women. A seamless montage of scenes such as Hele and Zigzag scissoring one another as Tina was in a mating press with Krillin to all 3 of them giving him a blowjob all at once. 18's shameless self pleasuring taking her along on the momentum building within, climaxing just in time as the video finished with Krillin cumming inside Helen. Followed by him jerking off and firing off some shots on the sexy faces and tits of her, Zigzag and Tina......
As the video faded to black, 18 cleaned off her wet, sticky hands as she cleaned herself up a bit and began typing up a reply to the e-mail. Giving quite an in depth review that'd put most professional critics to shame as she thanked Ziggy for the video and enquired if she could get Helen's address and contact details if Krillin didn't already have them. After all such a sexy single mama like that clearly needed a good man in her life to keep her company in the bedroom. And the romantic eyes she was making at her man werre as undeniable as they were HOT!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jasmine and Honeydew
Chloe Sinclair was quite a paradox of a woman in many ways, a self made success in the world of corporate industry yet seemed to have ambitions on par with a megalomaniac from a spy drama movie. The looks and figure of a bombshell supermodel and a seemingly bimbo personality yet happened to rank high among the biggest networths listed on the planet. But nobody knew her better than herself of course and she was a woman with a simple view on life; know what you love, love what you know. And Chloe loved nothing more than finding ways to get her damn rocks off.....
So imagine her delight when in a partnership meeting with the oh so fetching CEO of Capsule Corp, Bulma Briefs, had seen the blue haired brainiac make her day. She'd been thinking of maybe requesting a baker's dozen worth of those hunky Warrior Monk boytoys she'd seen the spicy review videos for but Bulma did her one better by offering her a bit of quality time with the real deal himself. Oh and wouldn't you know it, the guy just so happened to be current favourite pornstar Don Juan Sanchez and Ziggy, exotic sweetheart she is, approved of making it happen. Provided Chloe of course made sure to record it on camera and send her copy or stream it, Chloe promised the latter and to gladly have her name and face publicly used, why have shame in showing off getting wild and rowdy with Double Z's resident stud in thei human dudes on furry girl porn?!
Naturally the arrangements were made as soon as possible to have the cute bull, Krillin she learned his name was, brought on over to her personal private island home slash corporate headquarters. Along with his wife and daughter of course under the pretense of a family vacation though she was informed the blonde bombshell knew of this and also approved, hell she wanted to watch it happen!! Chloe had a feeling they would get along famously but of course she'd see to that sweet little angel child of this would be cared and provided for, their daycare was top of the line!! Soon as the little care was dropped off there and assured she'd be well looked after, the exotic skunkette began to put her plan into action as she took Krillin and 18 along to show them their guest room.
Said guest room was a penthouse suite, never let it be said hospitality wasn't a quality that Chloe Sinclair lacked with Krillin being in awe of the view. Only to turn around and drop his jaw in shock, eyes widening in surprise as he found his wife and Chloe suddenly French kissing one another, shameless wanton moans exchanged between their lips as their respective blue eyes looked his way. As if no doubt asking him if he was liking the show he was getting before they got to stripping one another naked, giggling with mischief in their tone as they strut their sexy nude selves over his way. Chloe of course shooting a secret wink and a smile over at one of the hidden cameras she had set up as if to say "Enjoy the show, you naughty pervs...", having them set up to record and stream this to Zigzag and Bulma, to name a few as thanks for making this little playdate happen.
Before Krillin could even get his brain working again to ask just what the hell was happening, let alone the how and why, his libido up and hijacked control once more as he found himself ambushed by Chloe and 18. The cyborg and skunk babe respectively taking turns giving him sloppy, tongue filled kisses before soon having a heated 3 way make out between them. The blonde and platinum haired hotties kissing and licking their way down his torso as they stripped him naked, with Chloe kneeling beside 18 as she looked in awe and rapture at Krillin's now exposed cock. Accepting this lovely offering as 18 grasped it for her by planting licks and kisses from the immense tip to his smooth, heavy balls, now those were some dragonballs and these 2 would be all she needed to have her wish granted!!
Krillin of course was unaware of the free private show he was giving as Chloe showed she had quite the oral skills, her mouth and throat had more of a quality akin to a pussy. Those sapphire blue eyes of hers twinkling adorably as if displaying worship and awe his way as she sucked and blew on his shaft. Her tail sensually wagging as it radiated a particular scent...not unpleasant mind you but quite unique and intriguing...like jasmine and honeydew. It was enough to make him feel drunk or somewhat relaxed enough that he couldn't help but along with the erotic flow and momentum his wife and their feisty hostess had set upon him.
Which might be how and why he was soon rutting Chloe balls deep in a missionary position, her moans melodic as she showered him with absolute honest praise. Deeming him the biggest and finest lay she's had to date, one of her lovely legs draped over his shoulder and the other around his waist as they pressed their lips together in a sloppy kiss, her furry booty jiggling against every smack of those heavy dragonballs of his. 18 kneeling beside them as she held Chloe's hand with firmness yet tender in a sense of intimacy, watching on with pride as her man made one of the wealthiest, most financially powerful women on the planet become his latest sexual conquest. Their mutual enjoyment of course growing in anticipation knowing the pleasure would only get better from here onwards.
That was most definitely the case as one moment 18 was being taken prone as she had her lips pressed to Chloe's muff or Chloe doing the same as Krillin fucked her doggy style. The next one of them sat on his face having him eat them out while the other rode his cock cowgirl style. Each and every position with every second to minute passing hours being transmitted to key individuals such as Chloe's personal assistant Persephone to Zigzag and Bulma as the short king unknowingly boosted his erotic fame. Especially once that video would get passed and shared around but hey couldn't get any crazier, right?
If only Krillin had even an idea of what fate had in store for him in the future, of who and what was going to come his way down the line. Of how his intimate encounter with Chloe had not escaped the notice and observation of an unseen, powerful force, one that could give even the Gods of Destruction pause and hesitation. A being who could observe the vast multiverse at their leisure like browsing channels on a tv for personal entertainment and pleasure. Especially and particularly when it came to looking for potential new playmates to share a warm bed with and snuggle up to.
So far in her voyeuristic observations, she’d found one of her counterparts had encountered quite the adorable little imp and a sturdy beefcake himbo, who both also so happened to be very talented in bed. Now another of her alternate selves in a very unique version of Earth had just finished with what was, she had to say, a very unique physical specimen in Krillin, having watched every single moment of their intimate acquaintance. Observing her scrying orb with sensual delight and anticipation as she added his name to her list of potential playmates. Her wicked, erotic mind already thinking of ways to have fun testing and prepping him for when they'd finally meet....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TGIF!!!
Krillin took a deep relaxing sigh as he soothed his muscles in the cosy confines of the hot tub in the private room so generously provided to him and his family by Chloe. Say what one will about the lovely Ms.Sinclair when it came to her sexual appetites but she sure knew how to treat her guests when it came to hospitality. Which 18 was certainly enjoying as she had taken Marron to one of the many beaches along the shore for some fun and quality mother daughter time. The lovely kinky skunkette of course was going to be occupied with some business and company matters which gave him a much needed break from the nonstop sexual marathon they'd had since getting here.
His wife made it no secret how feisty she could get when she and another woman enjoyed him together sexually but Chloe was like a league all her own, nympho didn't even begin to cover her. But damn if she wasn't a beaut to behold especially the lust in her eyes as she'd look his way or the feel of that silky fur against his skin, seriously even when wet she smelt like jasmine and honeydew!! The short king feeling a rush of blood circulating to his loins as his sexual dragon began to stir in response to the vivid memory reflection. Only to hit the breaks as he heard the door to the guest room penthouse open and shut to signal he now had company!!
Thankful he hadn't been caught in the act, he turned to see none other than the black and white striped form of Ms.Friday, Chloe's site logistics manager and hot damn if the zebra mare wasn't easy on the eyes like her boss. Her monotone furred toned frame especially showed off well in her modest yet stylish dress as she addressed him a in professional yet friendly manner, no doubt Chloe had asked her to check up on him and ensure he was okay. To which our humble fighter guy replied he was doing none too bad especially with the quality of luxury being provided. That answer of course seemed to satisfy the hottie Zebra babe...who proceeded to shock and stun him as she suddenly removed her dress and stripped naked, exposing her natural self before his every eyes!!
Friday:*Giggling at the awestruck, gobsmacked look on his face as she seemed nonchalant showing off her own nude self before him, even doing a few turns and poses as if showing off. Making her way over to the hot tub as she dipped her feet in and invited herself in to join him as if she was casually with an dear old friend and not some guy she just exposed herself to.*"Ms.Chloe thought you might be getting pent up and a bit lonely and figured what harm in having me keep you company for a while. Plus not going to lie, I saw that video and this meat hammer of yours has been running through my mind...*The Zebra beauty quipped sensually, as she reached out and groped Krillin's cock and balls, making sure to sensually grasp and grope his length and girth beneath the bubbling warm water. Licking her lips erotically as her honey brown eyes twinkled with lust and anticipation alike.*"Pardon my crudeness Don Juan...but I want you to take this cock and make me scream your name...So how about it handsome, feeling a little jungle fever?"
Before Krillin even knew it, he found himself obliging the desire of Friday as he was pressing his lips to her muzzle, moans and gasps of heated passion passing between them as they were making out. His compact hairless muscular form against her own stripey, furry bombshell figure as their tongues danced together in the air with growing intimacy and erotic heat, her juicy tits rubbing against his firm pecs as they made the hot tub feel tepid in comparison. His hand caressing and probing her sticky, warm slit as she continued to stroke and massage his cock in her grip, her fingers and palm becoming soaked with his flowing pre. Any sense of shame or inhibition gone out the window from Krillin's brain as he felt compelled to accept the mare's generous offer of sexual company, it certainly beat letting his balls become overwhelmed.
Hence why it wasn't all that surprising he got right to plunging balls deep into the generous exotic Zebra woman, coaxing sensual moans from her lips as she held onto him for dear life. Her arms and legs wrapped around his compact Adonis physique as she she was made to bounce and ride on his cock while she hugged his face between the valley of her glorious tits. The water splashing around the human stud and the monocrhome striped bitch made hot, passionate rut dancing the age old dance of man and woman together. But of course this was only the opening moments of round 1 before they really started to put it into high gear.
It wasn't long before the guest room suite's walls and ceiling echoed with Friday's howling cries and sensual gasps of passion was she stood hunched and bent over the edge of the hot tub. Krillin taking her from beind as he pump-thrust into her sticky, warm pussy, slapping those striped asscheeks like a bongo drum as she looked sensually over her shoulder at him. Egging him on to rut her deeper and harer, be as rough as he'd like to which she found him obliging her as he reached out and grasped her mohawk mane. To her orgasmic bliss of course as she arched her back and rode the waves of love and sweet, hot fuck together with him.....
They showed little to no signs of stopping as they were out of the hot tub and into the bedroom, making the springs creak and squeak as made the sheets soaking wet with sweat and sex juices alike. Friday taking him like a champ while even displaying her oral and anal game were no slouch of joke either but she wasn't surprised to find Krillin was particularly enjoying her pussy. It had to be said when it came to sex, he was certainly a man of taste aand culture as she currenly laid flat front on the mattress to bite and grasp the sheet while she took a prone bone fucking as if she were the weak prey being dominated by a real apex predator!!
It was no small wonder the pair were going at it with making another marathon happen in that room, enough so that Krillin still hadn't noticed or realised the hidden cameras. Which continued to beam and transmit a secret stream among a select few individuals who were of course enjoying this pornographic documentary on what was best suited and served for relations betewen human men and furry women. Or just a fancy way of saying this shit was hot, if you were to ask Chloe's personal assistant Persephone as she watched in sercret on her pc. Playing with herself as she mentally made plans to make sure to get her own quality time and fun with the short king sooner than later.....Ms.Sinclair did encourage them to do so for the duration of his stay here after all....
But of course Krillin had no clue at least one or two more of the fine ladies employed under Chloe were having quite a show to enjoy or making plans to have their dose of chestnut loving. For the time being he had a hot sexy monochrome striped chunk of heaven to take to satisfaction avenue and back. He may be outshined by saiyans when it comes to fighting but when it comes to the bedroom and with women? If there was a Tenkaiichi Budokai for sex, he'd be the world champ a hundred times over by now...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Not so Silent...."
Krillin knew he'd often read of the concept of Lucid dreams, there was studies aplenty to suggest they were a real experience for many but he highly doubted he'd ever come to experience one himself. But of course leave it to Murphy's law to come around and try to seem like it was going to kick him square in his family jewels as he found that he might be just experiencing such a dream right now. Well more like a nightmare because he found the scenery around him to be like something right of a horror movie set. An eerie, creepy fog covered town seemingly desolate, run down and abandoned, the quintessential ghost town.
Amidst this sea of derelict homes and condemned buildings stood a rusting, dilapidated sign that bore the words "Silent Hill" but something told Krillin instinctually that it wouldn't be the case for long. A place like this surely had something sinister lurking and waiting to inflict who knows what horrors upon him that'd have him wake up kicking and screaming. As if hearing his thoughts, Silent Hill seemed to answer him as the foreboding silence was broken by heavy footsteps and the sound of something sharp scraping along the ground. Part of him knew he should start running but there was that damned hint of curiosity that wanted, had to see what or who was coming his way that he'd have to deal with.
He'd expected something like warped, monstrous versions of someone like Cell or Frieza so imagine his puzzlement to find a toned bombshell of what seemed to be a woman emerging from the depths of the mist. Standing between 7 to 10 feet tall (Really with him being between 4 to 5 feet, just about any and everyone else towered over him), her head fully covered in some bizarre 7 pointed Pyramid helm and clad in little more than shoulder length gloves and thigh high boots. And a peculiar ensemble of straps and a stitched up apron, it and her exposed skin covered in what could clearly only be blood and dragging on the ground behind her in hand was a massive blade like a combat knife for a giant in the military. Feeling briefly like a deer caught in the headlights, it was then and there that Krillin knew it was a good time to run!!
And oh how he ran, something told him trying to fight or fly would do him no good, something about Silent Hill just didn't feel or seem right and cripes was this place a maze!! Loops, false paths, dead ends and every so often, seemingly teleporting out of nowhere or moving faster than she seemed, this Pyramid-Head lady was right on his tail!! It was like this whole town was warping itself to stack the deck in her favour and better enable her to corner him, wherein she'd no doubt inflict who knows what on him. As if just to really lay out the salt set to be poured into his pending wounds, the compact fighter found himself in a dead end,...a room made to look like a love hotel suite?!!
Just when he thought he couldn't be anymore confused or feel weirded out at the scenery before him, a heart shaped queen sized bed, scattered rose petals, an array of laid out scented candles, his attention was brought back to reality when he heard the door slammed shut behind him. Pyramid-head standing before him in all her scarousing glory having just locked it, her visor hidden eyes set on him as he gulped and made a silent prayer to Buddha. Only to find the she-hemoth drop her massive blade, seemingly sensually purring as her hands moved to undo the clasps and buckles to let her apron dress fall off of her Amazonian, statuesque frame. The short king bugging his eyes out and dropping his jaw as Pyramid-Head flashed him in all her naked glory, the blood on her having now somehow become body oil as she made her way on over to him.
He wasn't sure how or what happened next, why things were suddenly playing out like this but this lucid nightmare became like some horror themed wet dream. Laying naked on the silk bedsheets, idly caressing PH's namesake helm as she held her visored gaze on him while she squatted on the floor and gave him a titfuck. Stroking and massaging his cock between her bodacious boobs which were extra slick thanks to the lotion that made her skin have glistening sheen, the mute, sensual monster seemed spurred on by his groans of arousal. As if his pleasure was her motivation, further adding fuel to the fire as a serpent like tongue slithered out from a hidden section of her helm to lick and wrap around his cock.
Before the compact fighter knew it, this statuesque mystery woman had mounted and was straddling his lap as she flexed her amazonian muscles. Bouncing on and riding his cock, his pelvis feeling the the heavy impact of her bubbly ass while she let loose with deep, sexual moans from her ominous helm. It was such a contrast how utterly intimidating she was yet here she was looking and acting like such a porn star. Unable to resist her erotic allure as he found himself grasping her strong hips and bucking his own to meet her much to her delight.
he wasn’t sure how much time was passing, it all seemed to keep on slipping yet move at a snail’s pace all at the same time yet what was constant was the rushing onslaughty of pleasure. The absolute sensation of this enigmatic Sexecutioner's warm, tight and wet pussy strangling his jackhammering cock in its embrace as she welcomed his caresses, his kisses on her body, his firm gropes.Taking her in any and every which possible positon his compact, powerful frame could achieve as she welcomed his assertions of dominance, holding her in her embrace as she took him with her on surfing the tidal waves of climax. Everything seeming to fade to a white light as they shared one final simultaneous orgasm together, Krillin felt himself falling deep into the sudden abyss.....
Only for him to stir awake and sit up, panting as he heard his alarm clock going off which made him reflexiviely reach out to shut it down as he found himself back to reality, safe and warm in his bed. Held in the embrace of his wife...and packing a major case of morning wood, damn that'd definitely been one hell of a wet dream. Scarousing as it was and it had felt so vivid and real that there'd hardly been a difference between feeling asleep or awake. And why did it feel like someone had been watching it all happen?
Unknown to our short king, that had indeed been the case for deep within the limbo of the multiversal cosmos, sitting comfy in her personal domain was Demon Queen Chloe. The infernal flamed skunk bombshell humming sensually to herself as she examined a little chess piece style miniature in her grasp, none other than the female Pyramid-Head which had haunted Krillin in his lucid wet nightmare. Placing it on some mantle lined up with other figurines, the hedonistic anthro overlord smiled as she wondered who to spring next on her potential boytoy for the next dream she planned to surprise him in her little series of ttests. After all she had to make sure the little man and the others would be up to her personal standards....
Surging Forward
When it comes to the Four Ps of Marketing, there is one that affects us the most. It raises eyebrows. It may cause mental anguish. And it hits where it hurts the most, the pocketbook. I can only be talking about one thing: Price.
As I was telling my undergrads yesterday, they have now lived through—and survived—a period of inflation. This hasn’t happened for 40 years, which I remember all too well from my university days. It’s the kind of thing you tend to remember forever.
While inflation is now more or less within a reasonable range (about 3.1% last month), our grocery bills are up about 25% in the last four years. You can thank the compounding effect for that. Some manufacturers have responded by reducing the size of the package, so they can try to maintain price points. Labeled as “shrinkflation” by President Biden and others, it gives the illusion that prices haven’t gone up, even though the unit price definitely has.
Given that we have all now become hyper-sensitized to price since COVID, it should come as no surprise that Wendy’s plans to test surge pricing for its hamburgers is drawing the ire of many. It’s bad enough that the price of fast food has skyrocketed, but now they want to charge even more during hours of peak demand, as well as at locations that are typically busier than others.
Surge pricing, which also goes by the moniker dynamic pricing, has been in use for decades. It’s what explains the matinee price at movie theatres, a time of day in which far fewer people are likely to see a movie. Airlines have done it for years, with peak demand times seeing fares much higher than off-peak. Add hotels to the mix, too. Business hotels are often weekend bargains for families, because all the people with expense accounts have gone home. And we all know how expensive food and beverages are at airports and stadiums, while not far away they are much lower.
Uber is another company leaning on this model, with the price of a ride reflecting the demand. If a stadium is emptying out, the price just went up. Many other retailers, from Amazon to Target, Kroger, Best Buy, and others have done it. The advent of digital price tags makes it all too easy to reset prices within a store, or even systemwide. Heck, I even saw it in Germany some years ago, with gas stations raising prices at peak commuting times, and lowering them during others. Shame on you for not refueling at a better time!
One of the more interesting aspects of dynamic, or surge, pricing is that used on Dallas-area toll roads and express lanes. Essentially, the price is set based on traffic volume. As congestion increases, the price for diverting to the express lane goes up. The thinking is that it might just be worth your added dollars to be able to zoom by the unlucky proletariat stuck in traffic. Be sure to wave as you go by. These lanes are the sky boxes of the highway system. At peak times, a person driving solo can pay up to $0.90 per mile for the privilege.
The weeks ahead will be interesting to see how the market reacts to Wendy’s move, and whether they stick to their guns or back down. If customers swallow surge pricing, it opens the flood gates for all fast food restaurants to do the same. It could then spill over into all restaurants, and everywhere else. Consumers will be left at wit’s end trying to keep up with what amounts to a wide array of possible prices for the things they buy. I suspect that apps and websites will arrive that allow for crowdsourced updates on all of it.
It’s the price we pay for being alive today. Inflation is one thing, but having to endure exorbitant temporary price hikes is quite another. Even staying home and being a hermit does not make you immune, because you still have to buy things. As for me, I’m staying in the slow lane just as a matter of principle, and because I’m still waiting for my salary to go up commensurately to account for the last four years.
I saw your post 623829004122718209/hey-i-can-finally-post-this-heres-one-of-my through radar, i have a question I am an illustrator but so many say to sell their illustrations on etsy or gumroad or a trillion sites but I dont comprehend what is different between someone getting an illustration of mine on tumblr or deviantart and then one on etsy, what is the difference in yours?
Hihi! I'm answering this publicly because I think others could benefit from this as well.
So, full disclosure. Art is not currently my full time job. I have a day job doing marketing/graphic design for a medical device company (I'm on my lunch right now, hi!) and do art on the side because it makes me happy.
When it comes to the art I do sell, my primary business is not prints. It's other merchandise such as clothing, key chains, enamel pins, stickers, buttons, etc. Basically things most people cannot make on their own. Some examples below:
When I do sell a print of my work it's typically at an in person event like a convention or art show. Most of my online sales are not prints, though I do have an InPrint and a print listing on my webstore (and I used to have a RedBubble and Society6). Hell, most of my in person sales aren't prints. Usually it's my hats and shirts.
For selling illustration prints online the biggest difference between someone buying a print and someone just right-click-saving-print-themselves it quality.
Most of my work is uploaded as a 72 dpi png that is significantly scaled down from the digital canvas size I actually used to draw/paint it. Anyone who's saving and printing it out is going to get a pretty shitty quality print. Buying a print directly from me is getting a nice crisp 300dpi jpeg print that look GORGOUS, if I do say so myself.
The quality of the paper is important as well. The people who don't have the funds to purchase a print typically also don't have the funds to invest in fancy paper or specialty printing. I do sell a lot of 'gimic' prints (foil, holographic, pearl) and most people who attend conventions are willing to pay a premium for something like that, but even my standard matte prints are on nice heavy or textured linen paper. I use professional print services mostly (thank u CatPrint for my life) but even if I'm printing at home for a smaller con I have a very nice printer and very nice cardstock. A lot of convention artists who just do prints also sell fancier things like canvas prints.
Unrelated to the actual 'product', you should watermark your work and offer the unwatermarked version for sale if you want to do prints. I don't always do this out of laziness but, again, it's not my primary source of income. The Beloved illustration you linked was specifically for a larger DND 5e supplemental. It wasn't even designed to be sold as a print, so I didn't bother watermarking it. I honestly still should have but in my mind the value of that piece was contained around the book it was drawn for. The illustration is nice but it feels empty without all additional information included in Bardic Inspiration.
To circle back to something I said early, don't limit yourself to only selling prints. Make stickers of your illustrations, put it on tote bags and tshirts. If you don't want to source products yourself RedBubble and Society6 are fairly decent print on demand services. The only reason I left their platforms was because I didn't like the way they were changing their payment structure for artist, but it's not a bad place to upload things and make passive income. If you're flexible with your art and are willing to source products yourself, you can make other merch. The upfront cost is higher but the eventual return is MUCH bigger than any print on demand services. People wound up liking Beloved enough for me to make an enamel pin of her
Maybe it's the circles I travel, but most people do want to support the artist they like and the people who are right-click-save-print either can't support you financially or were never the type of people who were going to support you financially.
As long as no one is re-posting my art as their own or sharing it without credit, I really don't care if someone decides to save my illustration to admire it later. If you're broke and want to print one of my illustrations out at a library and slap it on your wall go for it.
What is one aspect of the business that start-ups need to put on hold until the company starts truly making money?
Start Up and Marketing Advice
My name is David Phillips. I have been in digital marketing for 20+ years and have worked with over 1,000 small businesses after working for two Global 500 companies. I currently own and operate Say What Marketing x Consulting.
The most important aspect that start-ups need to focus on is keeping their expenses as low as possible. If the startup is funded or self-funded, the answer is still the same. It is tempting in the excitement of starting a business to forget that you are a startup and that your chance of success is relatively low in most cases. The most consistent mistake I see with new start-ups is buying expensive office furniture, renting the nicest office locations for “image” of the new company and hiring more employees than needed. When I first started my business, I was working out of an office that was the size of most closets with one person working from home.
However the largest mistake that startups make is not creating a realistic budget. Budget estimates and reality are two very separate things and cash flow usually is the biggest reason for failure. There are numerous examples but here are just a few:
Online advertising (Google AdWords, Facebook, etc) are all built to get you to spend more and more money. Once you set up your marketing campaign budget with their platform and start running ads, a few days in or sooner they will notify you that for a few extra dollars a day you could reach 50 additional people. This tactic works and a few bucks a day quickly turns into more and more. For a startup, 20 dollars extra a day could be major issues, especially early on when you are not sure if your website is actually converting the traffic you are getting. Sticking to a set budget, especially in marketing is vital at first (and really always) until you have viable proof that it is generating positive cash flow.
Another quick example is buying hardware for your office. I have seen numerous business owners budget $3,000 for their computer. They purchase the perfect computer for $2,998 but after taxes and fees it ends up being closer to $3,500.
The extra $600 spent in advertising and $500 in taxes was not part of the budget and easily could have paid for the office internet, phone service, cell phone and more. Not realizing how the little things can add up is a major mistake. What do you think?
Navigating the Digital Frontier: Choosing the Right Web Development Company in India
In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, having a strong online presence is no longer optional—it's essential. Whether you're a budding startup or an established enterprise, the foundation of your online success hinges on the quality of your website. This is where choosing the best web development company in India becomes crucial.
Why India?
India has emerged as a global hub for technology and innovation, boasting a pool of highly skilled developers and cutting-edge technology solutions. Companies worldwide are turning to India for their web development needs due to its cost-effective services, timely delivery, and exceptional quality.
What to Look for in the Best Web Development Company in India
Selecting the right web development partner is a critical decision that can shape the future of your business. Here are some key factors to consider:
1. Expertise and Experience
Experience is a testament to a company's ability to deliver quality services. Look for a web development company with a robust portfolio that showcases their expertise across various industries. A company that has successfully executed diverse projects is more likely to understand and meet your unique requirements.
2. Custom Solutions
The best web development company in India will offer customized solutions tailored to your business needs. Avoid firms that rely on one-size-fits-all templates. Your website should reflect your brand's identity and cater to your target audience.
4. Client Reviews and Testimonials
Reputation matters. Check client reviews and testimonials to gauge the company's reliability and service quality. Platforms like Clutch, Upwork, and Google Reviews can provide valuable insights into the experiences of past clients.
5. Post-Launch Support
A reliable web development company doesn't just deliver the project and disappear. Look for firms that offer robust post-launch support and maintenance services to ensure your website remains up-to-date and functional.
Spotlight on Gujarat: The Best Web Development Company in Gujarat
While India, as a whole, is a powerhouse of web development talent, certain regions stand out for their exceptional contributions. Gujarat is one such region, known for its thriving IT industry and innovation-driven approach.
Why Choose a Web Development Company in Gujarat?
Skilled Workforce: Gujarat boasts a large pool of highly skilled developers who are adept at the latest technologies.
Navigating the digital frontier requires a reliable and skilled partner. Whether you're looking for the best web development company in India or the best web development company in Gujarat, the key lies in thorough research and due diligence. By focusing on expertise, customization, technology proficiency, client feedback, and post-launch support, you can ensure that your web development journey is smooth and successful.
Investing in the right web development company is not just about building a website; it's about creating a digital presence that drives growth, engages users, and stands out in a competitive market. Make your choice wisely and watch your business thrive in the digital age.
The inevitable M&A question came toward the end of Paramount Global‘s hourlong conference call with Wall Street analysts on Wednesday — a session that undoubtedly would have been more contentious for Paramount leaders if they hadn’t started out by serving up sacrifices for the greater good of free cash flow and profit.
Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish waved off the inquiry from Bank of America Merrill Lynch media analyst Jessica Reif Ehrlich about the tidal wave of media speculation about suitors coming (and going) for the company with a breezy “We’re always looking for ways to create shareholder value.” But it was clear from the earlier commentary and business updates from Bakish and chief financial officer Naveen Chopra that they are charting a course for this year and next to take streamer Paramount+ to the promised land of profitability and keeps the company entact as a standalone entity.
Indeed, Bakish nodded in his prepared remarks to the endless chatter on the Street and in media about Paramount’s long-term fate. “Regardless of current market sentiment, we’re convinced that the value of our assets today, combined with the execution of our strategy as we move forward represents a significant value creation opportunity, and we are dedicated to unlocking that value,” Bakish said.
The unlocking process will include a $1 billion write-down to be taken in the current quarter. Bakish and Chopra promised Wall Streeters that the company will spend less to make and market movies and TV shows and they will get more bang for those bucks with more aggressive windowing of streaming content across linear assets and vice versa. Moves forced by necessity during the programming drought of last year’s strike months — “Yellowstone” reruns airing on CBS, for one — are helping to guide its future. Most of the write-down ($700 million to $900 million) will stem from existing TV shows and movies that will be yanked from Paramount’s various digital and linear platforms and development projects that will be scrapped.
After recording a $1.6 billion loss on streaming operations in 2023, Paramount+ will reach profitability in the U.S. in 2025, Bakish vowed. Paramount Global will deliver free cash flow and growth in the second half of ths year, Chopra added.
Bakish emphasized that the company will also significantly cut back its efforts to produce local-language content in overseas markets. Instead the company will focus on generating hot prospects at home that have global resonance.
“Internationally, it’s become unquestionably clear that Hollywood hits are the biggest draw for our audiences and partners around the world,” Bakish said. “Which means there’s a clear opportunity to lean into our CBS slate, Paramount+ originals and Paramount films while slowing spend on local content and associated marketing.”
Chopra said the decision was influenced by analysis of what most non-U.S. subscribers watch on the streamer. “We’ve learned the Paramount+ subscribers outside the United States spend nearly 90% of their time with our global Hollywood hits — meaning we can keep them engaged while right-sizing our investment in content that does not travel around the world,” he said.
However, in the hunt for what the executives called “efficiencies,” Paramount will look to produce more TV programs and films overseas, where the cost of everything from hiring extras to an espresso at Starbucks is lower than in Los Angeles or New York.
“You will see us leaning even further into offshore production for our global franchises, including the upcoming London installment of ‘Billions,’ the new ‘Ray Donovan’ origin story as well as new series like ‘The Department’ from George Clooney,” Bakish said of three series on deck for Paramount+ with Showtime.
On the film side, Bakish pointed to Paramount Pictures’ success so far this year with modestly budgeted theatrical films “Mean Girls” and “Bob Marley: One Love,” the biopic that has lead the U.S. box office for the past two weekends. “We’re improving ROI by lowering the average cost per title,” Bakish said, noting the film studio’s refined focus on “balancing high-budget tentpoles with more modest cost titles.”
Paramount Global spent about $16.5 billion on content in 2023, a number that was lower than 2022’s content bill because of the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Chopra said. He expects that 2024 spending will be higher but not by too much. “We contemplate spending really only about 50% of what we’ll call the strike savings. That’s a critical ingredient in our ability to drive healthy growth in free cash flow,” Chopra said.
Other topics addressed on the call:
The Disney/Warner Bros. Discovery/Fox streaming sports venture announced earlier this month has been a de rigueur question for CEOs during the Q4 earnings reporting cycle. Bakish is not impressed with the offering that is rumored to be priced at $40 to $50 a month. “For a true sports fan, this package only has a subset of sports,” he said. “It’s missing half the NFL, a lot of college [events] and has virtually no soccer or golf. So it’s hard to believe that’s ideal, especially at the price points that have been speculated.”
Speaking of game theory, sports is an important subscriber funnel for Paramount+, which offers CBS’ AFC NFL package as well as acquired rights to soccer and golf tournaments. Prospective subscribers come in for a game or two but stay for the entertainment. “For people that come in [to Paramount+] for sports, 90% of their engagement is with non-sports” content, Bakish said.
CBS has been a bright spot for the company. The network got its strike-delayed season off to a strong start with freshman drama “Tracker,” thanks in part to a big circulation boost from large crowds turning out for the Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards and the record-setting Super Bowl telecast. But the Eye is also becoming more budget-conscious when it comes to content spending. “We have an increasingly efficient and targeted development process,” Bakish said. “We prioritize lower cost formats, like unscripted and those shot abroad while maintaining our strength and franchises.” He cited the success of last year of “NCIS: Sydney,” the latest interation of the drama franchise that was shot Down Under “at a much more efficient price point.”
In 2023, Paramount+ nabbed a total of 4.1 million new subscribers. Expectations for 2024 are lower in part because Paramount+ will be detached from bundled packages in some overseas markets “where the economics just weren’t that compelling,” Chopra said. “We do still expect very healthy Paramount+ revenue growth and of course, revenue is the more important metric than subs.”
