So the new Birds Of Prey movie is getting good reviews and making less money you think this will have any affect on Wonder Woman 1984

Well it's a Harley Quinn movie first and a Birds Of Prey movie second.   Unlike the Joker most of Harley's fans are females between the ages of 15-35, the movie is also Rated R which features a fairly unknown cast and unknown characters and the main lead is coming from Suicide Squad which was a terrible film and probably turned people off.  Lets not also forget it's a feminist movie and a lot of the right wing reactionaries are going to be put off by that.

If you're a Harley fan it's great, but if not there really is no appeal to the movie and DCs track record is still in recovery, they've had a lot more misses than hits since the DCEU started.  Another thing is the movie is Rated R so little girls can't see the movie and that leaves only hardcore fans and a few interested casuals that want to see the movie. 

We are living a culture war, a lot more women are willing to go to the movies with their boyfriends or male friends to see a male lead film as oppose to Boyfriends/Men going to the movies with their girlfriends or female friends to a see a female lead movie that is pushing feminist themes.   To put it simply the movie had a ton going against it, the trailers looked awful and again it's not a birds of prey movie as it's Harley Quinn movie featuring birds of prey characters.

Wonder Woman is another thing entirely, one it's pg-13 and Wonder Woman is a world wide Icon and has been for a very long time like Superman or Batman, the first movie did well considering it was coming off the flops that were BvS and Suicide Squad.  little girls and boys will able to see it so that's more tickets sold and Wonder Woman  did a good job showing that men and women are equals, the movie didn't write the male characters off as dumb or inferior to women thus more appeal to men liking it.
