I keep thinking I'm going to let the fic idea go. All the episodes I'd have to rewatch to get back into the world and characters, for dialouge flow and the ripple effect of time travel. I'd need n o t e s to keep track of the domino effect potentials with the alternate dialouge trees.
Then a spark goes and reminds me of one of the core things that's kept it brewing. A song, a character in a totally different series, the plot of an unrelated book series.
The need to discover who you are when you realize you can change and grow outside of what other defined you as. To have seen a direct and ugly look into who you would become if you stayed in the box built around you by those you looked to for your worth, reject inevitability, and take your first steps on an uncertain path because you dont know who you want to be. Just who you DON'T want to see in the mirror one day.
The catharsis of the look into a newly forged future and finding out that, despite a vicious cycle of consequences catching you in a trap promised by the former-future-you, when you recover and work up the strength to see how the accident changed you, the monster with half your face and cold eyes isn't there.
