Conan the Movie 27: The Million Dollar Signpost (First synopsis)

Hakodate, Hokkaido, known in Japan as "The million dollar night view city"

Phantom Thief Kid traveling here. to steal a mysterious treasure. But the obstacles that stand in his way are Conan and Hattori. Hattori who came for the purpose of confession to his childhood crush, Kazuha. Hattori is still angry that Kid thwarted his plan to give Kazuha a kiss. still waiting for time to payback (Based on Kid vs. Komei: The Targeted Lips)

Mouri Ran also expects Heiji to confess his love to Kazuha. But the obstacle that stands in their way is Ooka Momiji, a high school student who still hopes to win Heiji's heart after failing in the Osaka competition last time. (Based on the movie 21 The Crimson Love Letter)

Momiji took Muga Iori, a personal butler who used to work for the PSB. Same organization as Amuro and Scotch and saved her life when she was a kid. Including Shinichi's unfailing heart rival, Okita Soshi, who seems to be interested in Ran (Based on The Scarlet School Trip)

Okita Soshi's still hopes to get new match challenge with Heiji after helping solve the mystery and not being able to compete in kendo tournament, last time (Based on The Kendo Tournament of Love and Mystery, which is the first episode where Momiji first appeared before Movie 21)

Snow and blowing snow, dangerous cold settles in, but the worst is coming!!! Mysterious things have happened in the five-point fort "Goryokaku", the tomb of the legendary Shinsengumi.

Kid doesn't just have to deal with Heiji. But he still challenges Conan to solve the mystery.

If you believe Kyoto being ShinRan's city of love, because of Ran kissing Shinichi on the cheek (and by telling him I LOVE YOU back) , I'm sorry but you're wrong. Technically it was Heizuha's first, due to movie 7 and movie 21 literally focused on Heiji and Kazuha as a ship (if we FANS consider the movies as canon, which I personally DO)

Heiji’s failed confessions compilation (up to chapter 1118)

Greetings shippers! Anyone else lost count of the Osakan couple’s fail love record? I have!

And since I have many things to procrastinate on and a lot of time to feel sorry for myself for waiting for fictional couples to get on with it, here is the count of every FAILED Confession by our favourite Detective of the West! …

*SPOILERS AHEAD people*

1. Ebisu Bridge (c. 880 -1)

The incident that had fans paying more attention to the romantic subplot than the actual case itself.

‘But, but this is the incident where Heiji just realised his feelings. It doesn’t count as a confession!’

(*sigh) yes it bloody does

See, I won’t stop anyone from ticking this off your list for… reasons. The way I see it though, Hei-chan just didn’t fess up to Kazuha right there and then because of the wrong place and the wrong time. But that same excuse is pretty much the cause for 100% of the items on this list, so judge me. Carrying on!

2. Zombie Movie Murder Case (c. 935)

The incident where we totally know Ao-sensei’s a troll 

I actually really appreciate this moment despite how G. Aoyama obviously did not intend to let Heiji confess with so little build-up. I was kinda mad at how sometimes it seems like Heiji is all hesitant because he’s trying to one-up Shinichi, instead of actually considering how Kazuha might want it to happen. like every time Heiji brings up confessing he has to toss in a comparison with the ShinRan Big Ben scene 

But this scene shows he isn’t picky for some ego-related reason. He genuinely wants the moment of confession to be memorable for them both, regardless of Kazuha’s answer.

3. The Legend of the Nue (c. 962)

Nah, I think long and drawn-out agony has always been more in-trend. Do you even Aoyama?

And how did this awesome, unforgettable way-cooler confession than Big Ben go?

Pay very close attention, children, for you are witnessing a fine example of the very classical style called 'romantic-tension-deflation’, informally known as trolling.

4. Killing at Poirot Cafe (c. 981 - 983)

This is actually the point where I feel Aoyama-sensei might be playing around with our the characters’ feelings too much. I mean, poor Kazuha! It’s like she doesn’t believe in Heiji’s feelings for her. I should probably add her own failed confessions (c. 555 and c. 784) to Sensei’s list of casual cruelty, but this is actually Heiji’s list, so I can’t.

This is actually the one moment where it’s not some funny trope anymore, because we can see how sad Kazuha actually is that Heiji’s always too distracted to actually pay attention to her. This is also the moment I too begin to seriously doubt Heiji’s priorities here. Is it that important to choose some spectacular, fantastical setting, or is the confession itself the focus here? I love Hattori Heiji, but don’t you dare make Kazuha’s feelings secondary! 

But damn, Heiji’s being so cute. Don’t worry Kazuha, he’ll be on his way!!!

Just when we thought Heiji could make it in time…

...The KazuHei ship has a special, special place in Gosho’s heart after all.

5. Kendo Tournament (c. 990-993) 

(σ≧∀≦)σ  Awwww, please, please Aoyama-sensei! I know you can do it! Please make it happe-

( ￣ー￣)σ     Which is truer? Conan’s face, or Kazuha’s face?

Now for some honorable mentions. Here, there wasn’t an intention to confess, just more of a hit-and-miss scenario, but what the heck! They still count as a fail in my book just because they were THIS close to it.

Apparently the HeiZuha bad luck goes way back.

For a boy genius, you’re such a bad liar! You’re obviously wearing high-collar, you ahou! You better thank god that Kazuha isn’t a detective otaku.

8. BONUS ROUND (c. 1005)

Yup, the master himself outdid it this time, cause he managed to troll Heizuha shippers in an entirely ShinRan chapter.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST....

9. CONAN MOVIE 21: CRIMSON LOVE LETTER

Movie 21 promises some big LOVE action for the Osaka couple, whose ship somehow still hasn’t sailed despite not overwhelmed with obstacles like the other couples, such as being shrunk by a mysterious drug, 

or having a double identity FBI, magician thief etc., 

or the entire Tokyo police force for a love rival (try guessing which ships I’m referring to ಠ‿↼).

But movie 21 promises to be a game changer. Aoyama-sensei himself had a hand in it. The manga itself references it. Fans were excited. It was canon. It was big. It was different. It was--

Another Troll... ノಠ_ಠノ

*Sigh*

Yes, yes I know, there were some golden shipping moments.

BUT it’s a crime how much they cut from the trailer a fail is a fail.

10. Volume 96: File 1018-1021: Kaitou Kid and the Fairy's Lip

Heiji tries to kiss Kazuha although he didn't know she was Kid in disguise. Yeah you telling me THAT while Shinran the other childhood couple always somehow recognises when Kid is disguising as the other person? This is a below the belt move from the author here. You're gonna use comic relief to drag a ship through the mud

11. Volume 98: File 1039-1042: Lover Code Case

Heiji tries confessing to Kazuha at the Haido Harbor but fails again, another cheap cop out

12. Volume 100: File 1067-1069: Shintoist Temple Case

They go to get their good luck charm at a temple which is useless because the literal creator god of the DC has fun watching them squirm. Kazuha recognising Heiji's cheap disguise comes too late after the Kid incident

13. Chapter 1118

Yeah, he literally forgot why he was there. Showed how serious he was about the whole thing.

To conclude, dear boys and girls, Heiji has officially been trolled failed a whopping 13 times and a big fat 15 official trolls for the Heizuha ship (if you include Kazuha’s two attempts herself). They literally go to the same school!!! They literally see each other every day!!!They're not facing nearly the same challenges such as having one being shrunk or the other dead or hiding under an identity. Gosho just wanna have his fun. By making Heiji forget, Kazuha disappearing when her crush was trying to confess, by making Heiji's motive to one up on Shinichi. Since I wrote this post years ago I've given all my hopes and respect for Heizuha. Thanks to Gosho inadvertently showing what an immature and inconsiderate arse Heiji was about confessing in an attempt to gaslight readers into thinking it's comic relief.
