Hamburg. Als Abschluss des diesjährigen Games Lift Inkubators von Gamecity Hamburg stellten am Abend des 8. Dezembers die fünf geförderten Teams ihre Spieleprojekte im Livestream aus dem designxport vor. Dabei zeigten die Gründenden und Start-ups, wie sie den Input ihrer Mentoren und Mentorinnen sowie das in den Coachings gewonnene Wissen des dreimonatigen Inkubator-Programms umsetzen konnten.…

created by the forward creatives agency based in the Germany, Forward is a festival for creativity, design and communication.

the festival takes place across 4 different locations throughout the year, Munich, Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna. this portrays the inclusivity of the event by allowing multiple opportunities for people to experience the festival!

HAMBURG 2019 LOCATION - Millerntor Stadium, Hamburg

as you can see from the 2019 recap, forward festival embodies quite a grunge, cinematic atmosphere. taking place mostly in the dark, this breaks the expected white, bright aesthetic of museums and galleries in which design is typically displayed. with the use of neon lights, it portrays a nightclub ambience which fuels energy and excitement towards creativity.

out of all the 2021 venues, Designxport offers enough space for a combination of exhibitions, events, workshops, discussions and so on, unlike the others which primarily focus on a conference space.

by creating this virtual gallery known as the ‘moon exhibition’, creatives across all disciplines are given the opportunity to showcase their work with no audience limit.

consistently across their brand identity, they have created geometric forms out of words, by layering the letters on top of one another (see my next post for more research on their brand identity).

I was so inspired by this animation by the way the shape deconstructs to reveal the word ‘moon’ and continues on to depict a scene using the letters as visual elements. it appears so simplistic yet it serves great purpose in communicating exactly what it is.
