A few days back I have shared my review on Dermalogica Clear Start Today, Clear Skin Tomorrow Kit and Today I’m here with review of Dermalogica School Day Skin Essentials Kit. Emergency Spot Fix (4ml) – featuring benzoyl peroxide and tear tree oil to help reduce oil production, this spot treatment helps improve the appearance of skin riddled with blemishes and prevents pores from becoming clogged with debris.

My Experience with Dermalogica School Day Skin Essentials Kit:

Dermalogica School Day Skin Essentials Kit comes in a travel sized packaging. It is perfect for a day or two trip however this does not have any moisturizer(only sample size is there) or cleanser. This kit has a toner, breakout fix and moisturizer sample. let’s go one by one to see how individual product has faired:

1. Dermalogica Breakout Clearing All Over Toner:

This toner was part of Dermalogica Clear Start Today, Clear Skin tomorrow kit as well and I liked it. check out the detailed review here.

2. Dermalogica Emergency Spot Fix:

Dermalogicaa Emergency spot fix is 4ml sample but trust me, you would need only super tiny amount. I apply it on newly appearing pimple and it helps reducing the inflammation. It helps in subsiding the pimple completely in 2-3 days if applied twice a day. It contains Benzoyl peroxide 5% which is good for acne prone skin but it does not dry out skin a lot. I love this but this is costly so I will repurchse it only on sale.

3. Dermalogica Soothing Hydrating Lotion Sample:

When I have started using this kit my skin was irritated and this lotion did a miracle in soothing it down. There has never been a product before which worked this effectively in a single use, but this one immediately soothed the skin and calmed it down. My skin felt calm and breakouts soothed. This tiny sample lasted me 4 applications, I am definitely purchasing full size of this. I have never been blown away by a sample before :).

Final Verdict: 4.5/5

In my opinion Dermalogica School Day Skin Essentials kit is great. This is not an ideal travel kit as it is not a CTM(Cleanser, Toner, Moisturizer) kit. If you want to buy the full size products and before that want to test how they perform then this kit is perfect to go for. I have loved all 3 products from this kit and definitely buying the moisturizer full size despite the fact that it has alcohol in ingredient list.

Dermalogica has been in my skincare wishlist so I have purchased Dermalogica Clear Start Today, Clear Skin Tomorrow Kit is my Aplava haul. I was really excited to try this out. This kit is meant for breakout prone oily skin as it contains a breakout clearing foaming face, a breakout clearing toner and an oil clearing matte moisturizer. Grab a cup of your favorite drink because this is going to be a rather long review 😉 .

My Experience with Dermalogica Clear Start Today, Clear Skin Tomorrow Kit:

Dermalogica Clear Start Today, Clear Skin Tomorrow comes in a travel sized packaging. The packaging is no nonsense pleasant to eyes. The outer packaging is white and cyan colored with white font describing all the details and steps to follow.

The bottles inside are opaque white plastic bottles with clear start written on them.The kit contains products for 3 step CTM process(Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing).

These products are also available individually so I’ll break down my review to individual products:

1. Dermalogica Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash:

First step is washing the face. The foaming wash comes in a white opaque bottle with press open cap and name and details written in green font. It is odorless transparent gel which lathers moderately. It gives clean feeling without drying out skin and removes any makeup residue from face.

Despite being a breakout clearing face wash it is mild and non-drying and I feel this can be used by all skin types. It is effective at calming the inflammation around breakouts and helpful in preventing further breakouts to great extent. It can be used on face, neck and back. I have used it on shoulder breakouts which were caused due to water and climate change and it was effective in calming them down and curing. It does not irritate my sensitive skin at all.

I love this face wash and might purchase the full size in future. The only con can be price but very less quantity is required for one time wash. I have been using this twice a day and 30ml bottle lasted me for 15-16 days.

2. Dermalogica Breakout Clearing All Over Toner:

This is step 2 after cleansing the face. Dermalogica Breakout Clearing All Over Toner comes in similar kind white opaque bottle with spray pump and transparent cap. Name and details are written ion pink font. fuss free and travel friendly packaging. Spray mechanism works perfectly and distributes the product evenly on face.

I spray this all over my towel dried face and pat it into the skin. The toner is clear and has refreshing scent. it gets absorbed into skin quickly and does not leave any kind of residue behind. This works perfectly in combination with facewash and helps calming down breakouts and preventing new ones.

I will not mind repurchasing it but only if I can find it on discount. It is expensive for a toner and there are many alcohol free soothing toners and thermal spring waters available which serve the same purpose and come with cheaper price tag.

3. Dermalogica Oil Clearing Matte Moisturiser SPF 15:

This product is for step 3 of CTM routine i.e. moisturizing. Dermalogica Oil Clearing Matte Moisturiser also comes in similar packaging like other products, White opaque bottle with flip open cap and details mentioned ion blue font. I love how simple and clean the packaging of this kit looks.

Dermalogica Oil Clearing Matte Moisturizer is stark white in color and has lotion like consistency but it has some weird texture which is like sticky lotion which i really do not like. As soon as I apply it on face it leaves white shiny residue with slightly sticky feeling(Reminds me of some sunscreens 😐 ) . It does takes its time to get absorbed in skin and then it becomes perfect base. It is not perfectly matte moisturizer and my combination skin starts to get oily after 3-4 hours which is not a good performance (If you have ever used fair n lovely you can understand what I am saying). Sometimes I directly mix it in my bb cream and that way it performs better. ?If you use matte foundation then it will work better. I have noticed that it stings on breakouts.

Honestly I am not a fan of this moisturizer and won’t recommend it to people with oily skin. It might leave white caste on darker skin tones. Overly priced moisturizer with everything opposite it claims to be. Not recommended. If you want to try it, try a sample size or try this kit.

I am impressed with this kit. Out of 3 products, I really liked foaming wash and all over toner. Matte moisturizer is average and failed to impress me. Facewash and toner combination works wonderfully on calming down breakouts, though I can not comment how it will work on severe breakouts. Matte moisturizer is not matte and might leave white cast like some sunscreens/sunblocks. It won’t be able to provide sufficient sun protection with SPF 15.

I recommend Dermalogica Clear Start Today, Clear Skin Tomorrow Kit  if you do not want to invest in full size products without trying. It is day care kit. Now I’m looking forward to try out their night-care Dermalogica Clear Start Tonight, Clear Skin Tomorrow Kit.
