My friend Becky has a book event tonight so my friend Abby and I are going and here is how much I love Beck and treasure our friendship of 30 years: It is in fucking NAPERVILLE.
I have to drive from highland park to Naperville at rush hour! It will be worth it to hug my friend but my god! What a schlep!
Also my friend Abby, who lives in Evanston, wanted to carpool (assuming I would be at work in Wilmette) and I was like um no I'm not going all the way back to Wilmette when I can just stay on the toll way and be basically back in HP. Getting to Naperville from HP is bad but from Wilmette/Evanston is much, much worse.
I have an audiobook and a lot of music and am going to treasure this three hours of driving. Also it's a moot point bc I have to pick Alice up from school bc obv Adam scheduled a dentist appt, in evanston!
If you become a NYT best selling author and want to do events in the chicago area I encourage you to have a relationship with the book stall in Winnetka and not Anderson's in Naperville.

Do Dentures Make You ‘Ugly’?- Truth or Myth
Tumblr media
The saying goes that a smile is worth a thousand words, and indeed, our smiles are one of the first things people notice about us. They convey warmth, confidence, and happiness. But what happens when tooth loss robs us of this essential tool of expression? Enter dentures, a time-tested solution for restoring smiles and oral functionality. Unfortunately, along with the benefits come persistent myths, one of the most damaging being that dentures make you look unattractive or even "ugly." This blog will debunk this unfounded notion and explore how dentures can enhance your appearance, boost your confidence, and help you radiate beauty from within.
The Myths Surrounding Dentures
Let's begin by unraveling some of the common myths and misconceptions that perpetuate the belief that dentures can make you appear less attractive:
Dentures Look Unnatural
A prevailing myth is that dentures look fake and unnatural. This belief often stems from outdated stereotypes or the memory of ill-fitting, poorly designed dentures of the past. It's important to know that modern dentures are meticulously crafted to resemble natural teeth. They are customized to match your facial features, including the color, shape, and arrangement of your teeth, resulting in a remarkably natural appearance.
Dentures are Obvious
Some people worry that dentures are easily noticeable, leading to self-consciousness about their appearance. In truth, well-fitted dentures are discreet and blend seamlessly with your facial features. They are designed to look and feel like a part of you, making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.
Dentures Alter Your Facial Structure
Another misconception is that dentures can change your facial appearance, causing you to look older or less attractive. While it's true that tooth loss can impact facial structure over time, properly designed dentures can restore support to your facial muscles, helping you maintain a youthful appearance and a confident smile.
Why Dentures Enhance Your Appearance?
Now, let's delve into how dentures can enhance your appearance and overall sense of attractiveness:
Restored Confidence: Tooth loss can have a profound effect on self-esteem and confidence. Dentures provide an opportunity to regain your smile and self-assurance. Feeling good about your smile is undeniably attractive and radiates from within.
Improved Facial Structure: Tooth loss can lead to sagging facial muscles and a sunken appearance. Dentures can restore support to your facial structure, rejuvenating your look and helping you maintain a youthful appearance.
Natural-Looking: When designed and crafted by dentists in Westerville, dentures look incredibly natural. They not only enhance your appearance but also boost your confidence in your smile's authenticity.
Functional Benefits: Beyond aesthetics, dentures offer functional benefits. They enable you to eat, speak, and smile with ease, improving your overall quality of life. This functionality contributes to a more positive and attractive demeanor.
Embracing Your Dentures with Confidence
To embrace your dentures with confidence, consider these practical tips and strategies:
Choose Quality Dentures: Invest in high-quality, custom-made dentures crafted by experienced dentists in naperville. Quality dentures not only look more natural but also provide better comfort and functionality.
Maintain Excellent Oral Hygiene: Proper oral hygiene is crucial to keep your dentures looking and feeling their best. Clean them daily and visit your dentist for regular checkups and adjustments.
Practice Smiling: Smile in front of a mirror to get used to your new appearance. Confidence in your smile can have a profound impact on how others perceive you.
Healthy Lifestyle: A healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise, can contribute to your overall well-being and enhance your attractiveness.
Seek Support: If you're struggling with self-esteem or body image concerns related to dentures, consider seeking support from friends, family, or a therapist. Talking about your feelings can be immensely beneficial.
Dentures do not make you ugly; in fact, they can enhance your appearance, boost your confidence, and positively transform your life. It's essential to debunk the myths surrounding dentures and recognize the positive impact they can have on your overall well-being. By choosing quality dentures, practicing good oral hygiene, and embracing your new smile with confidence, you can enjoy the many benefits of dentures while feeling attractive and self-assured.
Remember, your smile is a reflection of your personality and inner beauty. Dentures are a tool to help you shine even brighter, allowing you to share your happiness and warmth with the world. So, wear your dentures proudly, and let your natural beauty and confidence shine through.

Comprehensive Root Canal Treatment in Naperville
Welcome to Sunrise Family Dental, your trusted dental care provider in Naperville, dedicated to delivering compassionate and expert dental services, including advanced root canal treatment. Led by our experienced team of dentists, we are committed to restoring your oral health and preserving your natural smile with personalized care and modern techniques.
Understanding Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment, often referred to as endodontic therapy, is a dental procedure designed to treat infections and save teeth that are severely decayed or infected. The procedure involves removing the damaged pulp from inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and then sealing them to prevent further infection.
Signs You Might Need a Root Canal
You may require root canal treatment if you experience any of the following symptoms:
Persistent Tooth Pain: Severe pain in a tooth, especially when chewing or applying pressure.
Sensitivity to Temperature: Increased sensitivity to hot or cold foods and beverages.
Swelling or Tenderness: Swelling or tenderness in the nearby gums.
Discoloration: Darkening or discoloration of the tooth.
Prolonged Sensitivity: Lingering sensitivity even after the stimulus has been removed.
If you notice any of these signs, it's essential to schedule an appointment at Sunrise Family Dental for a thorough examination and diagnosis.
The Root Canal Procedure at Sunrise Family Dental
1. Consultation and Examination
During your initial visit, our dentist will conduct a comprehensive examination of your tooth and discuss your symptoms and medical history. X-rays may be taken to assess the extent of damage and determine if Root Canal Treatment Naperville is necessary.
2. Cleaning and Disinfection
If root canal treatment is recommended, our dentist will begin by administering local anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Once numb, the dentist will create a small access hole in the tooth to reach the infected pulp chamber and root canals.
Next, the infected or damaged pulp tissue will be carefully removed using specialized instruments. The root canals are then cleaned, shaped, and disinfected to remove bacteria and debris.
3. Sealing the Tooth
After thorough cleaning and disinfection, the root canals are filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha to seal them off and prevent re-infection. The access hole in the tooth is sealed with a temporary filling or a permanent restoration, such as a dental crown, depending on the extent of tooth structure remaining.
4. Restoration of the Tooth
In many cases, a dental crown is recommended to protect and strengthen the treated tooth, especially if it has been significantly weakened by decay or extensive damage. A crown restores the tooth's function and appearance, ensuring long-term durability and aesthetics.
Why Choose Sunrise Family Dental for Root Canal Treatment?
1. Experienced Dental Team
At Sunrise Family Dental, our dentists have extensive experience in performing root canal treatments with precision and care. We stay updated with the latest advancements in endodontic techniques to provide you with the highest standard of care.

Plaque: Your Teeth’s Number One Enemy
Tumblr media
Dental health is a crucial aspect of overall wellness, yet it's often overlooked until problems arise. Among the various threats to dental health, plaque stands out as the foremost adversary. This sticky, colorless film of bacteria forms on teeth surfaces and along the gumline, leading to a host of dental issues if not properly managed.
What is Plaque?
Composition and Formation
Plaque is a complex biofilm made up of bacteria, their byproducts, and food remnants. It starts to form on teeth a few hours after eating and, if not removed, hardens into tartar. This section explores its composition and how it impacts dental health.

Diet

FAQs on Plaque: Your Teeth’s Number One Enemy
Q1. What is the difference between plaque and tartar?
A1. Plaque is a soft, sticky film that builds up on your teeth and contains millions of bacteria. It's easily removable with regular brushing and flossing. Tartar, on the other hand, is calcified plaque that has hardened on the teeth. Tartar can't be removed with a toothbrush and requires professional dental cleaning. The transition from plaque to tartar happens when plaque is left on the teeth for too long, emphasizing the importance of timely oral hygiene.
Q2. How often should I visit the dentist for plaque control?
A2. It is recommended to visit the dentist at least twice a year for checkups and professional cleanings. However, some individuals might need more frequent visits depending on their oral health status, susceptibility to plaque buildup, or presence of other dental conditions. Regular dental appointments are essential for effective plaque control and preventing dental diseases.
Q3. Can diet really affect plaque buildup?
A3. Yes, diet plays a significant role in plaque accumulation. Foods high in sugars and carbohydrates can feed the bacteria in your mouth, leading to increased plaque formation. Sticky and sweet foods are particularly problematic as they can adhere to teeth longer, providing a breeding ground for bacteria. Incorporating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and water helps to reduce plaque buildup and supports overall oral health.
Q4. Are there any natural remedies effective against plaque?
A4. While traditional brushing and flossing are irreplaceable, some natural remedies can complement these practices. For example, oil pulling with coconut oil, using aloe vera as a mouthwash, and chewing sugar-free gum with xylitol can help reduce plaque. However, these remedies should not replace standard oral hygiene practices but rather serve as an adjunct for plaque control.
Q5. How can I tell if I have plaque buildup?
A5. Signs of plaque buildup include a fuzzy feeling on the teeth, bad breath, and an unpleasant taste in the mouth. Plaque may also be visible along the gum line as a pale yellow film. Regular dental checkups can help identify plaque that's not easily seen or reached. Early detection and removal are key to preventing the progression to tartar and subsequent dental issues.

TMJ, also known as the temporomandibular joint, is a sliding hinge that connects the lower jaw to the base of the skull. When you swallow, chew, or talk, the TMJ on either side of your head works together. Each TMJ contains a soft cartilage disc that acts as a cushion between the joint's bones and the skull's base. TMJ disease is a painful condition caused by any issue that causes this intricate system of ligaments, muscles, discs, and bones to malfunction.
