End of year post 12/29/2024
Reading last year's post really helped sink in how much has changed over the past year (and how much has not). I'll start with the biggest change. My wife and I welcomed twins into our family. They're still relatively new, but the struggle has been tremendous. Especially when we add on our oldest daughter, who seems to suffering from a severe case of the terrible two's (or 3.5's). Even so we love them all immmensely and I'm excited about our full home and large family. A wodnerful future full of memoies, lies aheadof us.
Speaking of Sydney, she started school this year and loves it. It makes me so happy to see her enjoying it so much. It sounds like a cliche, but I love watching the world trogugh her eyes, and I lvoe seeing how much she learns every day. I know everyone says this about their kids, but she is incredibly bright, and she is going to do amazing things one day.
As for the e wife, she still hates her job but is actively searching for another one. The search is in the final stretch and we should be in a new town by the summer. I still can't beleive this is finally happening.
Last year I was excited about the Police advisory committee and possibly being the President of our local community action board. Well almost immediately after the year started, I decided to reevaluate my priorities and just focus on the family. So I left the community action board, and eventually left the police advisory commission as well. I still have no hobbies and may rejoin the local community action board in whatever city we move to, but I have no qualms about this decision.
That said, I desperately want a job. I can't stay home with three young kids. It's too much for me and my mental health and I am genuinely scared how things will go if I don't start working. A few things look promising now, but with the move (and not even knowing where we're going yet), my options are limited. But I remain hopeful, and this is the only goal I have for next year.
My physical health and dental health are great and I have actually received compliments from both of my respective doctors. This may seem like a small thing but I don't always hear such kinds words from my providers (especially my dentists), so this has really stayed with me and if anything, it has motivated me to continue to improve on those things. I also went over 40 days without alcohol again this year, and felt really good while doing it. While I don't think I will ever quit, it is nice to know I can do this without feeling awful. Next year I plan on getting a vasectomy as well. While truthfully, I am a little nervous, I think it is a good thing, that will be valuable to me in my life. With all of that said, I think I am actually in a pretty good health spot and for the first time in my life, I don't think I need to make that a focus or priority for the upcoming year.
Lastly, I want to conclude this post in the same way that I always do. Looking back five years and seeing how for far I have come. I also want to go back ten years as that was another significant time in my life. Five years ago, Nicole and I had just moved to Peoria, gotten married and were still figuring things out. We were living in that tiny apartment that just had the roof collapse (the night before out wedding). I had just accepted a job at the public defender's office and thought that I would be there until I became a judge. LOL. What a difference five years makes. Looking back ten years, is a little more somber and reflective. December of 2014 was a dark time in my life. And I kept this information from everyone. But I was struggling with school and on the verge of dropping out. I was broke and had a crippling amount of student loan, auto, and credit card debt (and the auto debt was for a luxury car that didn't even work). I was living in a town I hated, cold and alone. I felt like I didn't really fit in or get along with anyone at school. My dating life was a disaster, and somehow even worse that Tampa. Plus, I still had unresolved issues with Catherine, and wasn't doing a great job of moving past her. Honestly, it took a long time to overcome all of these issues but ten years later, they just seem like a distant, faded memory. But I will never forget those day, and that moment in my life. Just makes me grateful for all of the things I have in my life now.
Until next year...

Dr. Al-Dadah in Peoria, Illinois to Pay $20K in Back Wages
Federal Court Requires Peoria, Illinois Dentist, Dr. Al-Dadah, to Pay $20,000 in Back Wages to Employee Terminated After Alleging Unsafe Working Conditions. Investigators find dentist violated whistleblower provisions of OSH Act. PEORIA, IL (STL.News) The U.S. Department of Labor has obtained a judgment in federal court requiring a Peoria dentist, Dr. Al-Dadah, to pay $20,000 in back wages for unlawfully terminating a dental assistant who complained about the risk of coronavirus infection, refused a work assignment they believed to be a risk for contracting coronavirus, and discussed workplace safety issues with coworkers. On Aug. 9, 2023, Judge James E. Shadid of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois entered a consent judgment that requires Dr. Monzer K. Al-Dadah LLC and Dr. Al-Dadah to pay the former dental assistant back wages, provide a neutral employment recommendation and remove any references from employment records relating to the reason for their separation. OSHA investigators determined that when Dr. Al-Dadah learned someone had filed a safety complaint with the agency in March 2020, he tried to identify who made the accusation to OSHA and then terminated the dental assistant, who was an employee for more than 20 years. The dental assistant then filed an OSHA complaint alleging the retaliation. Federal law protects the rights of employees who refuse to perform work assignments when they have reasonable concerns of serious injury or death. Federal law also protects employees’ rights to make internal and external safety and health complaints. After OSHA determined that the employer violated the whistleblower provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the department’s Office of the Solicitor in Chicago filed suit in April 2022. “Employees must be able to exercise their legal rights regarding workplace safety freely and without fear of retaliation by their employer,” explained OSHA Assistant Regional Administrator Denise Keller in Chicago. “The outcome in this case reflects the Department of Labor’s commitment to protect workers’ rights.” SOURCE: U.S. Department of Labor Read the full article

This article will discuss the importance of healthy smiles, factors to consider when choosing a dentist, and tips to help you find the right dentist for you in Peoria.
Why Healthy Smiles are Important
Healthy smiles not only enhance our appearance but also improve our physical health and self-confidence. Poor dental hygiene and neglecting regular dental checkups can lead to various dental issues such as tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth loss. Furthermore, dental issues can affect our overall health by increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. Thus, maintaining healthy oral hygiene is vital for our overall well-being.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Dentist
Finding the right dentist can be challenging, especially if you are new to an area. Here are some essential factors to consider when choosing a dentist in Peoria:
1. Qualifications and Experience
One of the critical factors to consider when choosing a dentist is their qualifications and experience. You want to ensure that your dentist has the necessary training, education, and certification to provide you with quality dental care. Moreover, an experienced dentist is better equipped to diagnose and treat various dental issues.
2. Location and Availability
Another essential factor to consider when choosing a dentist is their location and availability. You want to choose a dentist who is located near your home or workplace, making it easier to schedule appointments. Additionally, you want a dentist who is available to see you in case of dental emergencies.
3. Services Offered
Different dentists offer different services, and you want to choose a dentist who offers the services you need. Whether you need routine checkups, fillings, or orthodontic treatment, make sure that your dentist offers the services you require.
4. Payment and Insurance
Dental care can be expensive, and you want to choose a dentist who accepts your insurance plan or offers affordable payment options. Make sure to inquire about the cost of dental services and whether your insurance plan covers them.

Here are some tips to help you find the right dentist for you in Peoria:
1. Ask for Referrals
Ask friends, family, and coworkers for referrals to dentists they trust. Personal recommendations can give you insight into a dentist's quality of care, bedside manner, and overall experience.
2. Research Online
Do your research online by reading reviews and ratings of dentists in Peoria. Websites such as Google and Yelp provide reviews and ratings from patients that can give you an idea of a dentist's reputation and quality of care.
3. Check Credentials
Check the credentials of potential dentists by verifying their education, certification, and licensing. You can do this by contacting the American Dental Association or your state's dental board.
4. Schedule a Consultation
Schedule a consultation with potential dentists to ask questions, tour the office, and meet the staff. A consultation can give you an idea of the dentist's bedside manner, level of care, and overall experience.
Conclusion
Maintaining healthy oral hygiene is essential for our overall well-being, and finding the right dentist can make all the difference. When choosing a dentist in Peoria, consider factors such as their qualifications and experience, location and availability, services offered, and payment and insurance options.

Invisalign Vs Traditional Braces
When it comes to getting the perfect smile, sometimes straightening your teeth is necessary. When it comes to having straight teeth, too, a beautiful aesthetic isnt the only benefit! Your teeth will thank you for the ease of chewing because your bite is correctly aligned. It can also help you to avoid damage to your teeth accidentally!
Of course, the number one reason why people typically choose to employ either traditional braces or Invisalign isn’t because they want to align their bite, but because they want to improve the way that their smile looks. Truthfully, it can be hard to have a lot of confidence if you are ashamed of the way your smile looks. You might consistently find yourself hiding your smile even during important and happy events.
Leave that behind forever with Invisalign in Peoria, Az or traditional braces, whichever you think is best for you! They each have benefits and drawbacks, but let’s consider mostly the edges that Invisalign has over traditional braces to help educate you on your options. If you can’t find all the information you need in this blog, feel free to call a dental office near Peoria or a dentist near Peoria, Az, for more information such as Plaza Family Dentistry.
Some Benefits of Invisalign over Traditional Braces
Obviously, the first thing that you might think of when it comes to the benefits of Invisalign that you could get from a dental office in Peoria, Az, is the fact that it is less conspicuous. That is entirely true! Even to the point that people who you are talking to face to face might not notice you are wearing the clear aligners. However, there are even more benefits. Take a look below.
One of the biggest benefits that people might not think about is that you don’t have to change your diet whatsoever with Invisalign. When it comes to traditional braces, you typically have to radically change your diet and even your dental routine. Cleaning braces can be a huge hassle. You can’t eat whole apples, beef jerky, many hard candies, popcorn, or chew gum.
If you bust off a bracket, you might have to call an emergency dentist in Peoria, Az for help. If you want more information about Invisalign, feel free to call a dentist in 85381 like Plaza Family Dentistry!

Can a Woman Have Oral Surgery While Pregnant?
A woman can have various dental procedures while pregnant, but often a full oral surgery is something they have to avoid until after the baby is born. Be sure to consult with your dentist to know which procedures are safe for you and your child.
Pregnant women should avoid general anesthesia and, as a consequence, usually have to put off oral surgeries for the baby's health. Whenever possible, schedule oral surgeries for the period before the pregnancy. Always try to perform the surgery immediately so the baby's health is not questioned.
What Should the Mother Do Instead?
As long as the mother's health is not hazardous, you must postpone surgery at a dentist near you. In the meantime, the mother should do everything possible to care for her teeth. Great hygiene and full dental exams are recommended. Regular cleanings and general dental procedures under a local anesthetic are safe for the mother and her unborn child.
The dental offices in Pretoria will still perform her regular cleaning schedule and, if needed, give the mother an X-Ray to monitor the situation with her oral health. When proper precautions are taken, X-rays are safe, even for pregnant women in the third trimester. The mother will, of course, be asked to wear a full radiation blanket to shield her and the baby from the radiation given off by the X-Ray machine. The dental technician will take extra care during this part of a dental checkup.

Finding an Ideal Dentist Is Vital
Do not be anxious if the notion of visiting the dentist makes you uneasy. Providing wonderful information and help with dental health is what your dentist does. You can maintain the health of your teeth, mouth, and gums and avoid dental disease by getting regular dental checkups and care from a dentist. Additionally, poor dental health raises the risk of heart disease and other illnesses. One can opt for Affordable Dentistry in Peoria, IL. Observe the following important details to find an exceptional dentist:
Obtain recommendations: To begin, make a list of potential dentists. Seek counsel from loved ones, close friends, and other medical professionals to do this. There are various websites available to look into the dentist's qualifications and experience. As you narrow down your list, call each dentist's office and request a consultation appointment so you may meet and speak with the dentist.
Examine the Dentist's Credentials: Board certification is one of the most important factors to take into account when choosing a dentist. It attests to the fact that the dentist possesses the necessary education, skills, and experience to render general dental services. Verify that the dentist has never been the subject of a malpractice claim or punishment. You can find information about the dentist's medical school, training hospital, certifications, malpractice, and disciplinary history on various websites.
Investigate the Dentist's Background: When it comes to dealing with oral health issues, experience counts. The more experience a dentist has with a problem or operation, the better your results are going to be. Endodontics and orthodontics are two dental specializations that require additional training. Determine how many patients the dentist has treated who have your specific problem. If you experience dental anxiety, ask your dentist about useful tactics they have used with other nervous patients. If you are confident that you need a specific procedure, find out how many the dentist has conducted as well as the complication rates—both the complications the dentist has had and your own risk of problems.
Review Patient Comments: You may get a sense of how a dentist practices general dentistry and manages his or her dental practice by reading what others have to say about them. Patient reviews frequently capture people's impressions of scheduling appointments, wait times, the working atmosphere, and the courtesy of office staff. You can learn how much the patients rely on the dentist, how much time the dentist spends with them, and how well the dentist responds to questions.
These were some tips for finding a good dentist. One should take dental problems seriously and consult a good dentist whenever needed. You can find the right Dentist in Peoria, IL, who is well-versed in your condition at Peoria Dental Care. We are experienced in serving our patients with the best dental care solutions.
