(some) Hornsent religion&pantheon headcanons
I've been thinking about the culture of the hornsent and Belurat for my SotE story, and here is one of the branches of these thoughts (under the cut, because many letters), let's go.
Firstly, the Hornsent are polytheists, with their pantheon being based (with various allowances and creative freedom) on the Outher Gods; the Hornsent, however, view their gods not as comic horrors, but as forces of nature, various aspects of the Great Crucible (though when the Crucible itself is not concidered to be sentient, the gods are, and in a more human way than the bearers of divinity within the Golden Order, for example). Secondly, they are really into magical thinking and spirits/ghosts/wraiths. They also believe in tutelary deities, which are something between christian patron saints and japanese kami; a righteous person is believed to be able to become such a deity after death if they meet the requirements, properly buried and revered by the local priesthood.
The "high" pantheon consists of (in no particular order, because there is no "top god" and all gods are seen as more or less equal in power with one predictable exception, but more on that later):
The Red Scorpion - based on the god of Scarlet Rot, but given more positive connotations. It's still a god of decay, but also of rebirth and the cycles of live, also associated with earth and (obviously) agriculture (it also helps that scorpions are a traditional dish of the hornsent). The celebration for the Red Scorpion is the harvest festival at the end of the farming year (somewhere mid to late autumn, as the climate in Belurat is quite warm), it's accompanied by rich feasts, tons of flowers and lots and lots and lots of dancing (the latter is true for any other celebration as well, the hornsent just love to dance lol). The Scorpion also represents the will to resist death at any cost, so it is (ironically) a patron god of healers. After Messmer's crusade, the "resist death" aspect took precelence over all others (and it's not like the hornsent had much agriculture left after the Messmer's flames).
The Master of Birds - based on the god of Death, and still is, well, the god of death. Is strongly associated with spirits (a big deal in the religion\culture of the hornsent), hexes and curses; this was a somber, but venerated deity even in the best of days, as honoring him properly was viewed as essential for the proper afterlife (which means that the spirit should return to the Crucible and not become a wandering wraith) and honoring him properly was hard, since the rites of the Death were the most complex of all the worshiping practices. His celebration day, or more correctly, night, is the winter solstice, and it consists of two parts - the eve feast and the night itself, with the latter being some mix of Samain and Sviatky (an east slavic folk holiday related, but not identical, to the Christmas celebrations, if you're interested to google). After the Messmer's crusade, the Master of Birds also became the most revered god of the entire pantheon, as both of his main things - honoring the dead and cursing the living - became more relevant than ever.
The Fell One - based on the god of the Fell Flame, is a god of fire and sun, the main patron god of smithing and the anti-villain of the pantheon. Originally he was seen as something similar to the earliest depictions of the ancient egyptian god Set - a stern and formidable deity who's often too pridefull and resentfull towards the mortals and the other gods alike, but also a strong protector who fights agains the forces of oblivion (one specific force in our case, see below) for the sake of the whole world. His celebration is the day of the spring solar equinox and is a fiery festival with elements similar to the slavic Maslenitsa or hindu Diwali. After the Messmer's crusade, however, the Fell One followed the fate of the aforementioned Set, becoming a demonic/satanic figure in the religion, as his association with fire led to him becoming associated with Messmer by extension, and therefore hated and feared (it also didn't help that Messner's forces deliberately used the god's imagery for psychological effect against the hornsent).
The Heartless One - based on the Greater Will, a goddess of justice, good sort of knowledge and purity, divine judge and patron goddess of the legal system and education. She's viewed as cold and distant, but also tempered and impartial, and the path of spiritual perfection required to become a tutelary deity is closely connected with her, as she's associated with overcoming the passions and dark urges of the soul; she's also a goddess who protects against evil spirits that cannot be reasoned with or controlled by the rites of the Master of Birds. Her celebration day was the summer solstice, and it was less about the feasts and more about the temple rites and ritual cleanliness (also quite literal cleanliness, you wash your whole house on this day or something). After the Messmer's crusade, the Heartless One was the deity whose perception by the hornsent changed the most - due to the Erdtree's people association with her she was transformed from a generally benevolent and possitive goddess to a downright apocalyptic devilish figure of pure evil, even more so than the Fell One, who at least retained some positive traits and reverence, while the Heartless One was un-personed and crossed out from the pantheon entirely.
The Nameless Horror - based on the Frenzied Flame, it was the chthonic force of oblivion and the main enemy of the world in the original mythology. While all the other gods are more or less even aspects of the Crucible, the Horror is the power almost equal to all of them combined, and the Fell One fighting it with the help of every other god was a common motif in myths and heroic epic (compare with Set and Apep). Any worship of the Nameless Horror was prohibited of course, and its followers - or anyone who even remotely recebled said followers - were seen as heretics and apocalipse cultists of the utmost danger, and were hunted without mercy (rip Midra btw). Ironically, after the Messmer's crusade, this god was mostly forgotten, giving its place of the local God Of Evil Whose Name Should Never Be Mentioned to the Heartless One.
The Two Moons and the Formless Mother are not part of the main pantheon: the Moons are simply not so popular goddess(es), they ocasionally get mentions in legends and myths, but magic (or, more correctly, hexes) is the aspect ot the Master of Birds for the hornsent, so the Moons are more or less just lunar deities, more important than the tutelary saints, but overshadowed by the main stars of the show; the Mother is simply the late addition, as she was beaconed to the land of the hornsent after Messmer's bloodshed and thus just was not around when the original pantheon with all the traditions and cults was established.

Bai Heb is reincarnation of one of the Emperor's daughters? Bai He adopted by Wukogn and Macaque and neither realizing this is the Jade Emperor's daughter because the daughter she was the reincarnation of was one of the few that were never public knowledge? Jade Emperor discovering this when he lays dying and realized the mortal girl Sun Wukong had tried so hard to legally adopt and care for in both the eyes of the gods and the eyes of mortals is none other than his own daughter because he'd never met her in person?
referencing the weird dream I had about Bai He interacting with the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother.
I think thats what the dream was implying.
Jade Emperor and Queen Mother have some bad history regarding their daughters.
The specific one mentioned in the dream - Zhinu? She was the seventh born and a goddess of weaving; she wove clouds into heavenly vestements for her parents.
And is the protag of "The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl".
One day she fell in love with a mortal cowherd named Niu Lang. A big celestial no-no. Especially she and Niu Lang had two kids. A even bigger celestial no-no!
Zhinu feels homesick one day and uses her enchanted cloud-clothing to visit her parents. But they won't let her leave. The Queen Mother is so adamant on keeping Zhinu from Earth that she tears a rip in the sky that becomes the Heavenly River (the Milky Way).
On earth, Niu Lang figured out that his wife has been kidnapped by her family. His loyal ox turns out to be a disposed god of cattle (weird detail but who knows, maybe Shennong was hanging around) who manages to boat Niu Lang and the two kids to a spot just across the Heavenly River where the married couple can see, but not touch one another. Only once a year can divine birds help carry the family across the river to reunite with Zhinu.
The story is meant to be an explanation for the literally "star-crossed" stars Vega and Altair (with baby stars Beta-Aquilae/Alshain and Gamma-Aquilae/Tarazed their kids) which meet eachother along the Milky Way once a year.
Not much more stories come from what happens to Zhinu and her mortal family after wards. But I imagine she's not on speaking terms with her parents. In my LMK idea, they're chilling in a piece of deep space away from the nonsense of the Celestial Realm. Having literally become stars and transcended the cycle of rebirth in a way that none of the celestials can imagine.
In addition to Zhinu, my chinese mythos storyline has the royal couple have had a falling out with;
Songzi (1st born) - was so disgusted by their treatment of Zhinu that she willingly went into the cycle of rebirth and eventually became Guanyin, Bodhisattva of Mercy.
Yin Wuming (2nd born) - reincarnated and became a demon hunter + Nezha's mother, and rejected the offer of reascension.
Princess Iron Fan (born after Zhinu) - who was expelled for falling in love/marrying the Demon Bull King.
So where does Bai He fall into this?
No idea.
Then again... imagine the heartbreak that would have occured if their truly youngest/last-born did not survive their earliest years. A daughter that they hid from a world ravaged by celestial war, but ultimately lost anyway to disease or misfortune. They would never by able to recover emotionally.
Now imagine that tiny soul reincarnated into a little mortal girl, who somehow contained enough divine power to harbour the White Bone Demon (a possible avatar of death itself) and not immeditaly breakdown into dust?
A pair of stone monkeys and/or a human scholar and a pig are now accidentally the guardians of the youngest Celestial Princess. Very magical girl-esque backstory for Bai He.
And the Jade Emperor only realises how familar the little girl at his side is in his final moments...

breakdown of Mormon mythology:
Everyone who has ever lived or will ever live began as the literal spirit children of heavenly parents - God the Father ("Heavenly Father" in Mormon parlance) and his wife or wives. The essential "intelligence" of these spirits, like matter, is uncreated and eternal, but the spirits are created by marital union between the heavenly parents. These spirit children were happy, but in order to advance to the next level of power and start families of their own, they had to pass through a probationary period in order to receive physical bodies.
In order to do this, a meeting was called in Heaven in order to plan out the world we currently live in. Two plans were presented for this new world, one by the pre-mortal Jesus, then known as Jehovah, the eldest of Heavenly Father's spirit children, and his brother, Lucifer. Lucifer suggested taking away humanity's freedom of choice and making himself the savior of this new world. Jesus suggested giving humanity "agency" (a major term in the Mormon lexicon), as on other worlds. The ensuing conflict caused a war to break out in Heaven, in which Lucifer convinced 1/3rd of the spirits destined for Earth to join him. Thus Lucifer became the devil, and his followers the demons, forever denied bodies of flesh and bone. Heavenly Father, alias Elohim, then created the world with the assistance of Jehovah and the archangel Michael, the pre-mortal Adam. Adam and Eve started the human race, as most of you know, and everyone who has ever lived since then was someone who made the choice to come to earth to receive a physical body and hopefully return to Heavenly Father, achieve the highest level of power, and eventually start their own universe after this probationary period. Mormons are a bit cagey about this, but Mormonism is a polytheistic religion - there are thousands, millions, maybe even billions of gods out there. Gods in Mormon mythology are sort of like dads. Dads are everywhere, you may eventually become a dad yourself, but you only have one. The cycle will continue forever. Mormons believe that Jesus was the first-born of God's spirit children, but also have their own gross take on the virgin birth. They believe God literally traveled to Earth and physically impregnated Mary; hence Jesus is referred to as "first begotten in the spirit and only begotten in the flesh." Mormon theology says that Jesus atoned for humanity's sins, not only on the cross, but in the garden of Gethsemane. After his death and resurrection, Jesus traveled to the Americas to preach to the American Indians, who Mormons believe are actually the descendants of ancient Israelites, and established his church in the Americas as he did in Palestine. Eventually all of the righteous, white Nephites were exterminated by the dark-skinned Lamanites, but not before they recorded their history on gold plates that were buried by the last living Nephite, Moroni, in what is today upstate New York. Many years later, Moroni, as an angel, visited the young prophet Joseph Smith and revealed the location of these plates, which would eventually become the Book of Mormon. And that's why we're here today. If any current or former Latter-day Saints, or anyone who simply knows more about this than me has any comments or corrections, I'd like to hear them. This is practice for me writing my book about Mormonism.

Author's Note: We had a blizzard here after a day of sunshine and 17 degrees so it made me think of this story again. Wrote this mostly while listening to Rachmaninoff, I highly recommend their dramatic pieces to accompany this little story. This AU is inspired by @triplesilverstar's god!AU.
Tumblr media
His sister's presence has retreated again, opening the gates for the northern winds to howl across the lands beyond the god's domain. Tesla had brought summer and filled the hearts of all with joy and love. All but the god of winter and death, for his heart beats for only one person and one person alone. He has waited patiently for another cycle of this world and to be released from the confines of his demon infested home and reunite with his beloved. He makes it out of his shadow realm, passing the first human settlements. He is followed by a dark cloud of despair and winter's chill. His steps freeze the earth beneath, and his presence seizes the sway of grass as the moisture in them turns to ice. The drinking water for the horses forms jagged crystals on its surface as the god passes by a farm. The animals are whining restlessly, his presence unsettling them. The forests are silent, the ancient trees muffled by a blanket of snow, as the heartless man continues on his path, leaving destruction in his wake.
It is so cold. His fingertips have gone beyond pain, and he can barely feel them anymore. His body wants to seize up, but he pushes on. He will never give up; he will never stop moving. The darkness radiates from his chest; it is so heavy and empty, the vacuum left in his center yearns to be filled with your love. It is the only thing that will save him. The only thing that gives him meaning. It is the only thing that gives him hope. The thought of your warm touch lingers in his mind. Oh, to see your smile again. It would make everything else fade away. The color of your eyes would relieve his pain and bring him back to life. In every iteration, you are gorgeous to him. No matter what body you inhabit, he will always be captivated by your beauty. But still, he can look past the external appearance and see the true splendor within you. The breathtaking and captivating presence of your soul has tied him to you for eternity. The strings of faith will never be severed, no matter how many curses are placed upon you. He will always remain by your side, unwavering in his devotion.
He moves south, with blizzards and frost as his faithful followers, spelling death for those unprepared. Nature has gone so very quiet as he walks through the meadows and fields. The air grows colder and darker with every step he takes, and the little lifeforms hold their steaming breath as he passes by in fear that they will be reaped by the god of death himself. But he is not here for them. As he slowly approaches the southern lands, where he knows he will find you, a melody strokes his ear, soothing the despair that has been building up inside him. He stops for a moment, the brilliant light of the moon reflecting on the glimmering snow. He recognizes the siren song, which draws him closer. Two hearts singing as one in the stillness of the night. It is very far, a quiet melody to daunt his soul. But he knows you can feel it too; your soul is drawn to him to close the distance between you.
Tumblr media
The souls of the dead sound like little bells to you, beckoning you closer. Their crystal clear chimes ring out, guiding you towards them. Tonight, as you fulfill your duties, you hear one calling out from the village over the pasture. Being met by the souls of the dead is never pleasant; knowing they lived a life and had hopes and dreams beyond what they had achieved fills you with sadness. They were people who leave behind mourners and heartbreak. But to hear a ghost call from so close to home stings you more sharply than any other encounter. Your body is asleep in your little cottage as your spirit crosses the green, grassy field as a fox. Your presence doesn't disturb the grass or the cattle. You drift to the house where an old woman has lived for all your life. You know her well; you gave her your dried herbs when she got ill, and you played catch with her grandson when you were both little. She moves through her yard with a slow shuffle, checking that the door of her chicken coop is closed before going to count the goats in the barn. She looks concerned while she performs her nightly routine. You take your human form to use your voice.
"Mrs. Claire," you say calmly and quietly as you watch her. She looks up, her eyes filled with worry.
"It's you," the old woman blurts with a shaking voice. "I knew the rumors were true!"
She backs away, expecting to be met by the little gate separating her little yard from the rest of the world, but instead just passes through it.
"Oh!" she exclaims with a shrill voice, befitting an old crone. She looks at her surroundings and herself.
"Yes, Mrs. Claire, I am afraid you have passed on." You answer her unspoken question, and she looks at you without responding. You make no attempt to go closer to her as you look at her beautifully maintained garden and the memories it must hold.
"What are you doing here, you witch?" She nearly spits out the last word.
"I am here to send you to the other realm so you can be born again with the flowers of spring," you say almost absentmindedly before turning a sharper gaze onto her. "Or I could leave you to roam the grounds for a while longer as a ghost."
"I do not trust you! You practice witchcraft!" she exclaims, her voice trembling with fear. "You even lured the god of death here to advance your own power! We saw it! You let him bring destruction to our land!"
"What will it be, Mrs. Claire? Will you come with me, or do you need more time to say goodbye?" You reach out your hand to her, ignoring her accusations. "The outcome will be the same."
"I shall not go with a creature of darkness! You are trying to lure me into a trap! You shall not capture me!" She clutches the scarf around her neck and backs away from you.
"Very well. I shall come back later." You give her a little nod with your head as a slight smile dances on your lips before turning and walking away.
"Your wickedness shall be punished!" The old woman calls after you, but you don't dignify her with a response as you follow the chime of a different soul, much further away. The black wings of a raven carry you to a little town further in the north. You perch on top of the church tower and look over the streets to see some spirits wandering the empty sidewalks below. The snow has covered everything in a thick layer of cold, shimmering white. The coughing echoing from the windows tells you your beloved god has been here before you. He must be close; you have felt his call for weeks now, urging you to find him. You look over the souls—some of them going about their business like they haven't realized their mortal coil is over, and others sounding out their prayers to whatever god they have devoted themselves to. The wind howls through the narrow alleyways, carrying with it the whispers of lost souls seeking redemption. Your purpose settles heavily on your shoulders, and you take flight again. You soar between the high building walls, letting the gust rip through your wings and scatter dark feathers into the abyss below.
Some of the dead watch in awe as you pass, their eyes filled with hope and longing for the freedom you possess. They reach out to touch your feathers and grasp the key you have provided. With tears streaming down their faces, they whisper their gratitude and prayers for your safe journey. With a glimmer of stardust, they disappear to return to the circle of reincarnation. You move on, knowing that their souls will now be reborn with a newfound sense of hope and purpose.
You spend the night shepherding the souls of the reaped into the afterlife, knowing that they are in good hands and will be born again soon. You followed the pull of your being as a roe deer through the forest, feeling the ancient magic guiding you towards the man you love most in all of your lives. You walk alongside him, but only the dead can see you, so you just blend in as one of his many shadows. Spirits, both neutral and malicious, follow him everywhere he goes, but you are there only to steal a glimpse. He moves so silently, his eyes trained on the path ahead. His face doesn't let on any emotion; he looks cold and calm. Almost dutiful. You know you will see him soon, but as dawn creeps over the horizon, you hurry back home to your sleeping body as a white rabbit, running across the fields and pastures.
Tumblr media
He arrives again with frosted flowers covering your windows and gracing the surface of the puddles outside. The leaves of a creeping vine by your house collect jagged crystals on their edges. The air is still and the world is blanketed in a serene silence, the quiet crackle of the fire in the hearth providing the only sound. A wide smile graces your lips as you look at the approach of the god from your open door. Your heart is so full of joy and anticipation that it feels like it might burst. You have your arm outstretched as he gets closer, and he wordlessly takes your fingers into his cold hand. The chill of his touch sends a shiver down your spine. His lips press against the back of your hand, his freezing breath tingling your flesh. He cherishes the warmth of your skin and the way your free hand cups his cheek and lifts his chin. It makes life creep into him again to soothe the pain of frost in his chest. Your gorgeous eyes look at him so tenderly, no words need to be spoken to understand the mutual longing for each other. From the thousands of meetings you have had in the past, all the meaningful words have already been spoken in a hundred different languages, but none have ever felt as powerful as the silent exchange between your eyes in this moment. He lifts his head to step closer, your soft breath exiting as a white cloud from your lips. He moves the hand he still softly holds to his chest, his fingers wrapping around it as he presses it to where his heart used to be. He closes his eyes and whispers, "I miss you more than words can express, sweet Shepherd."
He feels the shadow of his heart start to beat again; it fills him with warmth and chases out the cold longing that births the northern winds. His whole body is enveloped in a sense of love and warmth. The blue marks grace his skin and leave you in awe, like they always do. You straighten up and reach to kiss his jaw line. This makes him open his steely eyes again and turn them on you. You can see the love and adoration in his gaze. The god of winter and death is gorgeous, with or without the marks, and you are overjoyed to call him yours. You can't help but smile as he pulls you into a warm embrace, melting away the coldness that usually surrounds him.
His lips find yours, capturing them in a tender dance, speaking of his longing and spilling the devotion he holds for you. Your hearts sing as one, and your souls are entangled for a single night before he must leave your side. Words don't need to be spoken at this moment. His skin feels warm again, and his embrace could be mistaken for human, just like all those thousands of years ago. He holds you tight, knowing that this fleeting moment is all you have.
You guide your lover inside your formerly warm house, but his presence grows the shadows and brings a chill no fire can warm. Yet you feel no cold . You are consumed by the passion of his touch, lost in the intensity of his gaze, and you realize that you would endure any darkness for just another fleeting moment with him. You would follow him into the depths of despair, knowing that his love is worth any sacrifice.
You stop as you reach the shaft of light that streams through the window, the remnants of daylight creeping into the shadow infested room. You turn towards him, your fingertips grazing the palm of his hand, teasing the promise of being entangled with his digits. You slowly trail them up along the veins of his arms, feeling the warmth of his skin beneath your touch. Your fingers linger on the soft feathers growing from his collarbones, feeling the gentle rise and fall of his chest with each breath he takes. You pause as you caress his features, admiring the peaceful expression on his face. You touch his birthmark and nose, your thumb tracing the curve of his lips. He leans into your touch, a hand covering yours as it rests on his cheek. His lips part, and a hum of enjoyment escapes his throat.
You look at his eyes, and they are all you can think about; his face is etched into your soul like it's your mirror. He is there in your heart and mind, forever present in whatever body you are born in. As you speak his name, it is the softest word you know, it leaves a sweet taste on your tongue. It's a name you'll never forget, no matter how cursed you are. Life after life after life, you will speak it again and see these beautiful eyes gazing back at you.
His other hand goes to your lower back to pull you closer until you are pressed against his chest, feeling his heartbeat against your own. His lips kiss your eyes and trace along your nose before they meet yours. His love is a force of nature—unyielding and unwavering. It's a love that transcends time and space, binding your souls together in an eternal dance of passion and devotion.
Tumblr media
He holds your face tenderly in his hands, his thumb trailing over the curve of your lips before he leans down to kiss you softly. His warm hands are so tender against your skin, and you melt into his touch. Your heart races as you hold on to him, wishing with all your heart that he didn't have to go. The moment feels fleeting, but you know that the memory of his touch will stay with you.
"This unearthly love is yours alone. It is merciless and suffocating. But for you, my sweetling, I would die a thousand times over." His lips brush over your cheek, leaving behind a trail of tingling warmth as he speaks.
He pulls away, revealing a smile on his lips that makes your heart ache with longing. The feelings in your chest swell, and you struggle to find the words to express the depth of your emotions. As he walks away, you are left standing there, feeling both grateful for the time you shared and devastated by his departure.
"Wait!" you call out and follow him along the path leading away from your house. You know the rays of sunshine creep over the roof of your house, starting to paint your frosted yard in a golden shimmer. You catch up to him, and he looks down gently as you grab his hand and squeeze it tightly.
"I love you. With everything I have. I love you. I always will. And this isn't fair. What they did to you… to us. It is cruel and unjust. And yet, here we are, standing together. I wish you could stay, but this is already proof that even though we fell, they lost." You look into his icy eyes and see the determination and resilience that will carry you both through the challenges until you see each other again. You caress his cheek and gently pull him closer to place another kiss on his lips. The warmth of his embrace envelops you, and you feel grateful for every moment spent with him.
"There they are! So it is true!" A murmur of different voices skips across the grass, and you look to see some men coming around the corner of your cottage. Your eyes glance over them to see that they carry weapons, mostly hand axes and spears, but a few have their swords drawn.
"So they are a witch! Conspiring with gods and demons!" An outroar ripples through the group of men, and you can assume there are more of them behind the corner.
"You have lured winter to our doors! You brought hunger and death to our land! Prepare to face the consequences of your treachery!" A different voice speaks up; it belongs to a man with crude leather armor and a sword.
You look wide eyed at the people you have known for your entire life. Among them are youngsters you used to play with, men who would greet you on the streets, and neighbors you have brought back from death's door. And now they all stand before you, ready to seek justice for the suffering brought to this land. The god shifts to stand in front of you, hiding you behind his mass of feathers reaching from his back. He doesn't speak a word as he glares at the mob, who has come with a thirst for blood.
This feels familiar. Glimpses of ancient times flash before your eyes. The way you prepared for battle against the gods of war. The way you wielded your gleaming sword with fierce determination and a heart full of rage. Your trusty extension is no longer with you; it has been replaced by a weak and mortal body not fit for fighting. You now stand among other mortals, stripped of your former strength and power.
You reach out your hand to touch your lover's back as a sign to stand down, but as your fingertips touch the feathers of his wings, you feel a surge of pain run through your body. You realize he has lingered by your side for too long; you are out of time. You pull back before he can rip at the threads holding your body and soul together.
"Go. Hide in the forest." His cold voice speaks without turning his head toward you. "I will take care of them."
You look around the broad back to see the mob move closer; it looks like every man from the nearby villages has gathered together to hunt you down. You back away from your lover to head to the dark wall of trees beyond your yard, hoping to find safety and escape the angry mob. It gets colder as you distance yourself from the god. The flimsy shawl doesn't offer you much protection against the biting wind that seems to be raising around you, picking up the light dusting of snow.
You hear more shouts and yells behind you, but the blood rushing in your head drowns out the rest. Where will you go now? Where can you run to and survive? The answers are not clear, but you know one thing for sure: You must keep moving. You need to get away from it all. As you can nearly duck into the shadows of the forest, you barely manage to pull away from the swing of an axe. You fall backwards into the crunching moss covering the forest floor. The frost underneath your fingers feels painful as it creeps beneath your nails. You see a few men coming towards you, including the one with the axe, and you scramble to your feet again.
The usually comforting forest is now filled with a sense of impending danger. It is filled with more than just shadows and your lover's demons. It reeks of hatred and blood lust. You run as fast as you can back towards your little yard and see your beloved look back at you with fear in his eyes. As the people close in on him, their weapons leave no marks on his skin. The god knows you are being cornered, and while he is immortal, you can be snatched away with ease. The candle of your life is flickering due to his presence alone as you run towards him. He needs to act fast. His fingers grab the neck of the man closest to him, and while usually the cold grasp of winter would be enough to snuff out a life like his, this time the puny mortal keeps fighting for his last breath in a desperate attempt to survive.
The god of winter and death realizes the warmth in his chest. It is you. Your presence has ignited spring within him as it should, his heart beating within his chest, robbing his shadowy powers. His presence alone isn't enough to protect you from these savages this time. Your love hinders him from laying waste to what threatens you.
He breaks the neck of the man he is holding and moves on with a speed unmatched by any human. The god tears through the immediate danger surrounding him before charging at the attackers on your heels. His wrath grows with every life he takes. He is determined to protect you at all costs. His feathers brush your cheek as he passes you, and you fall to your knees. You feel the fragile bond between yourself and this form fraying. He loves you to death. The god knows he is killing you. But he cannot stop, for your safety is his top priority. He has to secure you before he can leave your side. He must protect you from the hands of these fiends. He has failed you once before; he cannot allow it to happen again. He has to get away from you. Destiny and fate tease him with the dilemma of death as he rips through the mortal flesh of a man with a raised spear. His chest and feathers are covered in splatters of blood as he moves on to the next one. The symphony of violence plays in his ears, drowning out any thoughts of mercy or remorse. The only thing driving him forward is the primal instinct to keep you safe, no matter the cost.
The world is shut out as you hear a pair of footsteps approach. You raise your eyes to see a young man with his sword drawn. You want to run away; you need to scream or escape, but your strength has been torn from your weak body by the god of death. You kneel in front of him, your eyes begging for mercy, hoping that he will spare your life. In his gaze, you see fear and hatred. The curse you bear has been long forgotten by any mortal being. You cannot blame him for the dread he feels. The god of winter and death came for you; his presence introduces a bone-chilling cold that ruins crops and brings darkness to the southern land. The man before you demands your soul as payment for what he believes you have done to this world. You will find no mercy in his heart. He raises his sword and plunges it down into your chest.
Your hand grabs the blade as pain sears through your body. The man disappears from your sight, replaced by a display of beautiful feathers. You fall backwards, the tip of the weapon digging into the frozen ground below as blood paints the grass in vivid crimson. As your vision blurs, an arm wraps around your back, pulling you into a warm embrace. Your eyes look up towards the heavens, and a fleeting thought of cursing the other gods crosses your mind before the blue sky is replaced by eyes of the same color. Your hand, that's not bleeding around the blade, reaches up to gently touch his face.
The god grabs the hilt of the sword with his free hand as he watches the life quickly drain out of you. Is it the blade or the touch of his skin that does it? He does not know. Your being is unraveled as he leans closer, your vision fading to black. You wish to leave some words to him, but the breath escaping your lungs carries nothing but silence.
You are gone before his lips reach yours, so he hovers above them. He will not steal a last kiss from this body; you aren't there anymore. It is little more than a prison for the soul. He leans his forehead against yours, still clutching the sword and pressing you into his embrace. You are gone, leaving just a shell behind. You took his heart with him, and all the warmth you had filled him with seeps out of him with the tears he sheds, leaving only cold emptiness. The outstretched mess of wings that served to protect you start to grow blades of ice in-between the long feathers. Shadows gather around the god as hatred fills his mind. The down on his collarbones and neck grows into larger feathers, forming more wings as he lifts his enraged gaze up towards the few remaining people brave enough to face down the god of death. The people cower in fear, knowing that their fate now lies in the hands of a vengeful deity. His face turns monstrous, the eyes dark as the night, and feathers start to cover his face. He bares his elongating fangs at them. Shadows start to bubble up from between the wings, forming faces and clawed hands. The creatures of darkness escape the god and slither to the ground. They slink along the frosted ground, leaving a trail of ice in their wake. The sky darkens as the shadows grow longer until they reach the mortals. They freeze in terror as the creatures surround them, reaching out their hands to grab at them. Their souls are ripped from their meek bodies and consumed by the icy demons.
With a roar that shakes the earth, the god unleashes his full power, engulfing the land in darkness and merciless blizzards. The beastly deity bellows a deafening cry of grief that echoes through the meadows and forests. It skips over rivers and lakes. It shakes the mountains and leaves a sense of dread in the hearts of everyone across the lands. A chilling reminder of his immense power and wrath. The storm rages around him, spreading snow and demons in its wake. In the middle of the deathly horror is your latest body, frozen in time forevermore.
The beast stands up from the cold cradle he has created and chooses to move on, leaving destruction and chaos in his path. The grief robbing him of his human form, transforming him into a monster of pure rage and darkness. His empty chest bleeds with the longing of a heart that will never beat without you, consumed by the grasp of vengeance and hatred. Every step leaves frost and shadows behind; anything touched by the feathers gets ripped to shreds by the hidden blades of ice. He is searching again. Waiting for you to be reborn, to hear the siren song of your soul. It is so cold again.

Eclipse AU(Tldr at bottom of post_
So I made a modern-sort of percy jackson inspired AU for Linked Universe, I think it's fun to write! I hope other people enjoy it. Here's my weird rough summary. Willing to answer any and all questions!
The Chain are lost in time, trapped in an unending cycle of life and death. A familiar tale to the hero's spirit. In their last confrontation with the incarnations of demise, and the demons he commanded--the whole of reality went asunder, and the power of the gods shattered entirely.
After that confrontation--the nine embodiments of the hero’s spirit suffered the same fate as their homeland--their souls washed away in caskets of golden tears and failed promises.
Hyrule was wiped away, wiped from the face of history and beyond. The goddesses had to begin their creation anew, without the baggage of those that caused it’s destruction in the first place.
Earth, modern earth, was created in it’s place--with a few key changes.
For all their efforts--the remains of their first creation leaked through, infecting the history of our earth like vile rot. The monsters were the first to make the breach, their combined hatred and inhuman will to survive holding their corrupted essences together through the transition.
There are stories of these creatures, often disregarded as exaggerated hyperbole by historians, or metaphors for natural disasters.
They were not.
The Queen Gohma haunts the jungles of South America, legends of her urchin-like young making victims of unfortunate wanderers; sustaining her immortal lifespan in the depths of her hollowed tree.
Argorok terrorized the skies of medieval Europe, casting plumes of fire on the feudal armies that tried opposing it’s oppressive reign; her accompanying packs of gleeoks hunting ancient sailors in the atlantic.
And there were many, so many more monsters that endured the chaotic folding of time and space, the near-annihilation of any sense of self--as the mind and soul were put to battle against the last, drawn out gasps of their dying universe. The destruction was biblical, the return of gods seen only in legend--it’s a wonder that anything survived that cataclysm.
The chain suffered a similar fate--at first--their existence and histories torn apart atom by atom, their souls stretched paperthin as thought and reality blended together during the collapse of stars.
But they endured.
They tumbled through the new cosmos, the echoes of their shared spirit melding into the foundation of the universe--as immovable as gravity. When humanity came to prominence; the chain were there to follow. They were reborn, stripped of their memories, into a thousand different societies, and countless eras.
At times of crises and devastation; their nine courageous souls were reborn across the earth, their courage burning brighter than it had been before. They were prepared for the changing world, their skills old and new continuing with each reset.
There are some echoes of continuity, however, rules that their spirit must follow.
Twilight is related to time in some way, and they’re the two who meet again the most.
Wind is always born in sea-faring communities, whether that be in the literal age of pirates, or as an early tribesmen at the dawn of civilization--rediscovering his aptitude for sailing.
And as the chain have been reborn, so too have many of Hyrule’s legends, their essences bleeding forth onto our realm. The memory of that primeval history scars our world, and fragments of every era hides under the bustling, nation-states of our modern age.
Some more aware than others.
Those with the blood of Hylia returned, bringing the memory of their goddess with them--thought to be eradicated. They possess no royal heritage, living as normal citizens, the zeldas being born nearby their links.
The sheikah bounced back quickly, as Impa(SS) managed to come out of the transition with her memories intact--assembling her fractured tribe during the stone ages.
TLDR: Modern AU that’s sort of percy jackson in how Hyrule seeps over. Ancient things hidden in modern times, with the chain reborn worldwide.

continued from here, with thanks to @rowan-revelry for such a beautiful beginning ❄️
Tumblr media
there was a magic within the wild wood that smelled of death. even the frost that clung to every branch was not enough to stifle the scent of it; burning, endless, pungent, livid. the northern wind had spoke of promise, and khione had waited for what felt an eternity. maybe it had been, one or two. time felt different in a castle of ice, when one is all alone.
the god grew tired of watching the endless cycle of decay. autumn brought the rot before the freeze, summer brought the greed of man with their weapons && their bloodlust. she saw it all, and she hated all who passed, craving the quiet, languid, cold of the winter's chill. she could feel the dark magic that brewed, the sorcerers that grew too eager in their ambitions. for the old gods were forgotten, and she watched as she faded to the color of frost itself, unable to reach out && quite grasp the power that she once held in an iron-grip palm.
eternal winter was the solution khione had settled upon. a way to bring peace across the land, to release the evil of summer's demons, to free those who found respite within the blizzards && the north. to return her father's wind to every part of the land - to remind the mortals to whom they ought bow. and now; the god reveled in the quiet. the bitter cold, the shuttered windows, the frozen lips of those who dared ventured beyond the front gate. it made her smile, to see the world as she would have it.
but the days turned to weeks, and weeks into months; and restless, khione found she could wander further than once she dared. for spring was not coming, summer could not burn her, and autumn would stave away for another era. betwixt the holly && oak, the god floated like a specter, shades of white && dripping the scent of something ancient, khione took to the exploration of this newer, modern world. one that held more humans than she reminded; more sprites than she could count; dragon carcass fallen from a mountaintop, it's treasure trove unguarded and unreachable through the ice. she followed no road, nor route, just took in the beauty she had crafted, appreciating every frozen blossom begging to transform under the spring's eventual showers. every peaceful, picturesque scene only furthered the goddess' resolve.
the earth was better this way.
and yet - surprise colored cheeks rose, and the god turned slowly, lips parted as they took in the sight of the frozen duty-bound nymph of sorts. khione had not been spoken to for so long - a century, maybe more. certainly more. when her lips parted, for a moment, only a cough that spat icicles from lungs long past their use could be heard - until, finally, weakly, in a strange sound of cracking, brittle creaking - the goddess spoke.
" i wait for no one. now, the world waits for me. who are you, and why do you address me? "

World building and theories of Engage
Zephia
Zephia's name is ‘Sepia ‘ in Japanese. Sepia is a brownish red colour however I think the name references something less flattering. Her starting class is Mélusine, which is a female spirit with fish characteristics, like a mermaid, therefore I believe that ‘sepia ‘ is taken from the Latin for the common cuttlefish, ‘sepia officinalis’. The various versions of the Mélusine tale have common features:
Guardian of a location - Zephia is guardian of Sombron and one of the shards
Cursed being - She is cursed with great power which resulted in the death of her family.
The succubus from another world who procreates with a human.
A seductress
A harbringer of death.
The cuttlefish was a symbol of good luck in Celtic and Japanese mythology due to their ability to adapt to their environment or to change to defend themselves. In the Bible the cuttlefish is associated with temptation and chaos due to their habitat; the unpredictable ocean. It was believed if cuttlefish was eaten, it filled the person with lust.
I will start from top to bottom with her design, upon her head she has elaborate horns. The horns could be a reference to tsunokakushi. At a Japanese wedding, a tsunokakushi is worn to cover the horns of jealousy and anger. Zephia's horns could be the symbol of her jealousy and anger. Horns are also associated with danger, many horned creatures are dangerous and they can be used to make weapons. Zephia is definitely a dangerous character. There are poisons made from the powder of horns. Veyle’s constant exposure to Zephia's ‘poison’ builds up an immunity that enables her to wield poisonous weaponry (dragonstones are believed to protect from poison as well). The shape of her two horns are similar to the crescent of the moon. If the horns symbolise the waxing moon then it is a sign of rebirth whereas if they symbolise the waxing moon then they are a sign of death. Devils and demons are depicted wearing horns; the devil in the Bible, satyrs in Greek mythology and oni in Japanese mythology. Horns are also used as the symbol of cuckoldry.
Not all associations connected to horns are negative. They can symbolise strength and fertility due to the connection with horned beasts pulling plows. The horned beast is seen as impregnating Mother Earth. I mentioned that horns symbolised the moon but they can also symbolise the sun. Across different cultures, the sun symbolises life and renewal, as well as being worshipped as a God. In the Bible, the sun is connected to God, his son and Mother Mary. In Buddhism the sun symbolises enlightenment and the awakening of the mind.
God's from many different traditions around the world are depicted with horns; Pan, Dionysus, Aphrodite (Greek) Hathor, Isis, Seth, (Egyptia),  Śiva, Pashupati, (Hindu), Cernunnos and Selene(Celtic). In this sense, horns are symbols of divinity and power. Yama is a god in Tibetan Buddhism who is often depicted with three red eyes, the face of a bull, two horns entwined with fire and a crown of skulls. Yama's role is to oversee the movement between repeated cycles of birth and death, and as a king, he encourages people to be careful with their desires and actions by frightening them. This makes him the judge of deeds and misdeeds and his judgement determines a person's rebirth. In some traditions he watches over the purgatorial aspects of the birth/death cycle.
The tassels from her horns could be a reference to the roots of the lotus plant. In Buddhism the roots represent the struggle and suffering a person goes through to attain enlightenment. The feathers could be mayurapattra. These feathers symbolise the peacocks ability to digest poison, a person is able to take in the poisonous desires of life and still continue on the path to enlightenment.
The ability to maintain abnormally long hair can represent beauty, royalty and divinity. A normal person cannot have hair that gets in the way of completing tasks, only royalty and deities can. Royalty can afford to have the hair cared for, styled in extravagant hairstyles and even carried by servants. Deities are deities, some must have anti tangle magic. Artemis was fortunate enough to have a nymph comb her long locks. In some Buddhist traditions, the head is shaved to detach a person from the desire of vanity, however, some buddhists do not cut their hair as they want the mind to be in a natural state. In the Bible, long hair is associated with strength, Samson's strength came from his uncut braided hair. For a woman to have long hair, it is considered her glory because it is a beautiful way to cover her heqd, maintaining her modesty (1 Corinthians 11:15)
The revealing nature of her outfit can be explained by her species; dragon mage.  Her body temperature is higher than a humans. The black, purple and pink colour way seem to be associated with Elusia and the Fell Dragon.

You know what trope I love, the whole ‘eldritch horror/aspects of nature in physical form in human form’ specifically with death. Death the endless from the Sandman is my favorite character due to how refreshing it is to not see a natural part of nature not be demonized.
Imagine a physical manifestation/embodiment of death in the transformers universe. They are so old, older than the gods that preoccupy the universe they share and has reaped many. Death ingrains themselves into every species, sharing with their love and their lust of life, for self enjoyment and to sympathize with the souls they will one day charter. Every soul, no matter what age or species, recognizes them.
Than the Great War of Cybertron breaks out. Death knew war was bound to happen to its petty societal class systems, but never imagined it would directly cause the death of Primus. They can still remember the sadness on his face when he took their hand to be carried to his fate. The death count grew higher and higher, and death did as they have always done since the beginning, with some faint glimmer of hope that they would see what they had done now that their god is dead. Death never took pleasure in the brutality and savagery of war nor in the fear and anger and sorrow in it.
Now, it’s once expansive population was reduced to a scathing thousands. Now Death faces their own crisis. Reap all cybertronians who are the one causes of their extinction or interfere and give them a second chance?
Death’s mind is made up when they take the form a young human girl, making it easier to get close to the so called ‘Autobots’, to see for themselves if they and the ‘Decepticons’ are worthy of a second chance.
Plus, they missed human food. Especially, ice cream.
(If the bots do discovered their/her identity and they ask why Death would help. They/she would simply smile, a bit of ice cream on the corner of their lips. “I am death. I am inevitable. What’s a little while longer?” Was all they/she said as she ate another spoonful of ice cream.)
Okay, commentary because this tickled my brain so much like Woah and I do have things along those lines.
And same here, anon, but more like Aspects that take on a humanoid/mortal form or have Avatars to take on very specific Aspects because such entities are far too immense for a true physical embodiment.
But that's a different topic, so the embodiment of Death in Transformers does exist, depending on the universe and how viewers want to take it.
The most explicitly direct is Mortilus of the Guiding Hand from the 2005 IDW, and then there's Unicron himself -Lord of Chaos, Chaos Bringer, and Planet Eater.
Primus and Unicron are stated to be brother-twin entities. Opposites, yet equals.
His self-proclaimed mission is to end all creation, which is very ironic considering he is a being of Chaos. The spark of that brings forth Life. Unless that's the point. He is the Bringer -the harbinger of Chaos, so he is the embodiment of Death and Finality; the End before the Beginning.
So if Unicron is steadfast in his role of Uncreation or the herald of the ending/beginning cycle, then now it raises the interesting question in TFP, what if Earth is its own entity?
In the wise words of the mushroom meme: Decay is an extant form of Life.
Because would make so much sense:
This would neatly tie into the Autobots' confusion and dismissal over the many Earthen inhabitants' biological necessity and/or enjoyment to eat other creatures and living byproducts. (This raises questions about the lack of dietary options and possibly a far more limited fauna and flora amongst modern Cybertron.)
As well as the nature of Earth and its inhabitants since Death and Chaos touches many associated concepts: conflict, renewal, rejuvenation, evolution, illness, decay, destruction, change, regression, mortality, and so much more.
Could have been incorporated into the mythos of the Age of Antiquity, and a linkage to Optimus’ past as Orion Pax’s role of an archivist. There are very, very few things that Optimus could truly keep of his old self, so perhaps he would enjoy looking into databanks and open-access libraries. This could have opened dialogue with their human charges on the differences and similarities between the strict strata of Cybertron and the role of the internet in the modern day.
It would fill in the plot hole of Unicron, somehow not destroying the world when he switched to a bipedal mode, nor does he have a fondness for any creature of Earth.
(The place most likely galls him since there is life even at the most extreme conditions on the planet, and the dominant lifeforms mimic his brother-twin's own creations.)
Patterns form and patterns break, but some Laws are absolute. So by Unicron's own nature, Earth was born to follow the cycle of the universe. (Or unknowingly formed in his slumber to keep his own self alive. Otherwise, Unicron shall become obsolete.)
So not only Earth is deep in the galactic-equivalent of the boonies, this planet is the Cybertronian-equal of Space Australia.
Which becomes even far more terrifying should the cyberization process have been successful because Earth is not Cybertron. It is its own entity. It would look at these newcomers and say Challenge Accepted on nightmare mode.
Truly worthy to be classified as a Death Planet.
And on a side note: If Megatronus Prime was the closest reflection of Unicron by Primus’ own hand, then would that mean he was supposed to fulfill a role or be an Aspect of Death on Cybertron? Anon, my mind is reeling here!

For the Curious Anons Prompt: What are some Universes that Qhi'Zhek likes to frequent, and why?
Tumblr media
"Oh my, that certainly is a myriad of choices~! Mmmm... I'd have to say, though, some of my favorites include--"
"A far off land known as the 'Lands Between', which is somehow preserved and kept out of time and reality. Bound by an eternal curse caused by the supposed 'divinities' of said realm. All because she feared the death of her kin, and wished to hastily stop a cycle as eternal as life itself... quite fitting since she removed the concept of death from the world order~"
"Another realm of gods and mortals, though I suppose you fellows would refer to it as 'Earth'. One where their mythos of ancient times have come to life. There is one particular individual in that realm that I've taken peak interest in... one known only as "The Ashen Warrior", or by his birthname, "Kratos". A mortal made a God of War, shackled by his own gruesome fate, but soon finding redemption in the realm of deities not of his own pantheon."
"And then there is a version of Earth that is a bit... crooked, shall we say? For a lack of better term! A world known as 'Malleus', where sorcery and royalty reign supreme, amidst rudimentary gunpowder and steam engines. Humans, elves, dwarfs, demons... all sorts of being inhabit this world, and it's like a smorgasbord of opportunities to learn~~ Ah, but I should warn you... there are quite a nasty race of rat-people known as the "Skaven" living within that realm... they are very fierce and nasty indeed."

Happy Krampusnacht
Tumblr media
artist: IrenHorrors
Happy Krampusnacht for those that celebrate!
I wanted to speak a little about this spirit and what gnosis and information I have discovered from working with Him off and on for the past few years- especially since there isn't a lot of info about Him. He is often seen as a kind of “novelty” but is in truth a very real entity.
There seems to be some misinformation that is often spread that Krampus is the son of the Norse goddess Hela. This is not true. Krampus has more connection to Frau Perchta then to Hela. This rumor about Krampus being the son of Hel originated from the fictional fantasy story “Krampus the Yule Lord” by the artist and author Brom. It has no basis in any mythology. Though not a lot is known about Krampus anyway.
In my understanding and learning's; Krampus is connected with the darker fey and to an extent earthen daemonic and natural darkness. He is both to an extent. He is both a gatekeeper and guardian of darker fey magic. He has an alignment with the “wild unknown,” and the dark forest archetype that represents the threshold and crossing between mundane and magical reality. Krampus can be interacted with year-round though He and His magick is most potent in December especially around Krampusnacht. Krampus presides over the realms of revenge and justice, domination, control over chaotic and unruly matters and intensification of sexual power (being a vital life force energy present in the aura not simply active in amorous pursuits). He also relates to primal nature, the hunt, rebelliousness, instinct, extreme cunning, the natural cycles of death and renewal (especially in winter)-to some extent. He also has connections in some ways to the holly king and lord of misrule archetypes. He is a potent symbol of this dark, persuasive magic and acts as a powerful guide into the duality of enchantment in fairytale realms due to his connection to the archetypal black forest.
In connection with Krampus I have come to understand that there is not just one being but a “race” almost of beings similar in nature to Himself. Though He has said that humans really would have a hard time telling which is which among these beings, and that they can all each appear under the moniker of “Krampus” to an extent. I have found him to be quite trickster like and quite of a fae nature; by this I mean the difference in approaching and understanding things between humans and fae. He is also under the dominion/auspices of King Belial in regards to the demonic type of energy he carries. This is due I feel to King Belial being Lord of the Earth, Witches God and also Winter King- as I know Him.
Some other areas associated with Krampus and things that He appreciates as offerings; things related to the dark forest or dark fairytales, pine, clove, orange, cinnamon, cedar, bells, birch, poisons- more flying ointment like, sexual offerings, obsidian, onyx, coal, ginger, mulled wine, schnapps, brandy, fauns, goats, chains, snowy nights, winter storms, hedonistic merriment and darker trickster nature. Alongside the usual more pagan yule associations. He is also linked with Saturn and Saturnalia to some extent. Krampus is a spirit that while popularly associated with Saint Nicholas/ Santa Klaus etc, He exists as fully separate from these being as an individuated and autonomous being- He has more pagan associations and links then Christian.

Gojo Satoru, the man that you are, had me researching Buddhism and shit
///Jjk chap 236 leaks and spoilers pls begone thankuverymuch
I have never been more deranged in my life of living. And when I say deranged,, I hope everyone involved will enjoy my copium induced girl dinner rant that I cooked up 💥🔥
going through five stages of grief,, about to invent the 6th and 7th one. over Lines on Paper this is my life
Tumblr media
Anyways,, so I came across a tweet which started my spiral after I read through these:
Tumblr media
jujutsu kaisen
has the potential to create THE arc of all Time ever if,, BY GOING OFF OF SYMBOLISM,,, the plot NAILS this
bc the buddha imagery and symbolism of gojo is already the coldest shit ever when gege cooked with the "throughout heaven and earth, i alone am the honored one"
if this actually happens to some degree
we could have the biggest "WE'RE SO FUCKING BACK" moment in all of manga history
《Gautama Buddha died at the age of 80 in 483 BCE at a place called Kushinagara a town in UP》
thank god we still have 8 more decades left until gojo is FEASIBLY ALLOWED TO DIE AT A SUITABLE AGE AND AFTER A LONG HAPPY LIFE.
ok wait technically 5 more decades since hes close to pushing 30
Raggedy old man. Bros aging 💀
death of an anime man got me actually researching about Gautama Buddha with sincere interest now
《"Mara" is one of the earliest non-human beings to appear in Buddhist scriptures. He is a demon, sometimes called the Lord of Death, who plays a role in many stories of the Buddha and his monks.》
apparently this is the demon equivalent to reflect sukuna's character. hes mostly present in esoteric buddhism
the hand sign,, is same as sukuna's domain expansion here
Tumblr media
《In East Asian and Buddhist mythology, Yama,, also known as King Yan/Yan Wang is the King of Hell and a dharmapala (wrathful god) said to judge the dead and preside over the Narakas and the cycle of afterlife saṃsāra.》
In Hinduism,, that's Lord Yama, god of the dead, similarly shown with a Bull as his familiar.
from chinese mythology:
《Yan is portrayed as a large man with a scowling red face, bulging eyes, and a long beard. He wears traditional robes and a judge's cap or a crown which bears the character for "king".》
This cant translate to sukuna's "true form"
Yknow,, the big fucking body with 4 arms and a wooden mask thing on the left side of his face. He definetely IS shown to wear traditional robes.
Now bear with me here, I'm derailing my sanity rn.
yes now THIS is interestinger:
《The spirits of the dead, on being judged by Yan, are supposed to either pass through a term of enjoyment in a region midway between the earth and the heaven of the gods.》
We LITERALLY. have a whole segment of gojo enjoying his time seeing suguru and his other friends who died in an afterlife-kinda setting. We also specifically get a panel of sukuna praising satoru,, passing his judgement,, that we've seen him do to other characters as well [jogo, although that's kinda debatable 💀 since Sukuna kind of. Trashed him]
《-or to undergo their measure of punishment in the nether world. Neither location is permanent and after a time, they return to Earth in new bodies.》
JUMPING UP AND FUCKING DOWN RN. Isnt Kusakabe on standby,, who cultivated an ability to act as a medium and swap/ conduct other people's souls with his own. As i said before,,, SURELYYYYYYY gege wouldnt do this shit without REASON
(it is the funniest shit in the world to type up "Indra god hand gesture" and for gojo fucking satoru's face to pop up in the image and ACTUALLY be linked to a legit discussion on his domain expansion hand sign being referenced from Indra)
ok so, in hinduism,, its "Indra", but in buddhism the same god is translated unto "Sakra"
yknow how it be. Different religions and practices share the same god and the beliefs overlap here and there.
so theres this
《When one Śakra dies, his place is taken by another deity who becomes the new Śakra.》
which is basically the jujutsu kaisen equivalent of people in the gojo clan being born. With the liberty taken of SixEyes + Limitless users taking hundreds of years to be born after deaths of the previous one.
Okay so
"then with his face to the north took seven strides while a white canopy was held over him" is the text referencing buddha's enlightening birth.
the white canopy held over his head is a symbol that he'll achieve nirvana.
《In Buddhism, "Nirvana" is the highest state that someone can attain, a state of enlightenment, meaning a person's individual desires and suffering go away. The origin of the word nirvana relates to religious enlightenment; it comes from the Sanskrit meaning "extinction, disappearance" of the individual to the universal.》
Since we've Already seen that gojo's achieved his state of enlightenment at his first death (by toji)
This can be the second stage where he achieves Nirvana at his second death,,
in the storyline,, gojo is Heavily only recognized and labeled by his powers and strength with the Limitless and the Six eyes that he possesses.
(Literally, it means “blowing out” or “becoming extinguished,” as when a flame is blown out or a fire burns out. nirvana.)
So if somehow,, we've all been theorizing,, if gojo erases that aspect of him. Destroys the aspect that defines him as Gojo Satoru, he'll technically be achieving Nirvana and being born (revived) anew.
which is also sweetening the conclusion of the age old question
"Are you the strongest because youre gojo satoru? Or are you gojo satoru because you're the strongest", that geto had ask him years ago.
Which ig, Also raises the question:
IF, gojo were to sacrifice his SixEyes and Limitless in his pact of revival (details to be pondered upon later), would this count as a Legitmate "death" with relevance to the world's balance being re-altered, and Also resetting the cycle for another user to be born?
Or idk maybe I'm just tripping balls <3
Goodnight everynyan. Let's awaken to a day where Satoru Gojo comes to live amongst us once again. 🕊

As a side note I don't know what to think about Dracula's relationship with Chaos and the implications of Grimoire of Souls that he's stuck in this cycle of resurrection against his will and that it's humanity's evil (aka Chaos) that fuels his evil actions
On the one hand we know for a fact that he was already very evil before ever encountering Chaos, and this idea sort of gives Dracula a tragic twist: as he says in SoTN he sold his soul for power (kinda recalling his og backstory from C3), he gave himself to Chaos to fuel his powers and now he's stuck for the ride wether he likes it or not
On the other hand it may sort of diminish Dracula's agency as a villain by essentially making it so that he's a pawn of a higher being, even if said higher being is a manifestation of humanity's evil and the idea of Dracula selling his soul to Dark Gods was already a thing ever since C3
Don't RoB and SoTN also imply something like this?
It is not by my own power that I am resurrected. It is a greed of humanity which calls me back. And thus, by might, I rule. Might becomes the one and only justice in this world!
It was not by my hand that I am once again given flesh. I was called here by humans who wish to pay me tribute.
By his tone, especially in SoTN, he doesn't seem to like it.
If Chaos is CV's Idea of Evil, I guess this makes Dracula the equivalent of the Godhand, made to do the IOE's will and spread misery on Earth just like humans subconsciously crave. They seem to be okay with this, though. I personally like the idea that part of Dracula would like to rest already, which makes Soma's fate all the more heartwarming - and technically, he was the one who put himself into this mess by supremely overreacting to Elisabetha's death. Unless you believe that it was all fated to happen, much like Griffith's descent into villainy, which... well, that would open quite a can of worms lol.
Yeah, I suppose Dracula having ties with higher entities has always been part of his character. At the time, he was nothing more than an evil sorcerer craving power, then he "evolved" into being more similar to the Japanese concept of a Demon King. Side note, I like that in the CV3 manual it's said that Alucard still retained his good heart even after Dracula sold his soul - it emphasizes that it's him who is rotten to the core.

Ten Afterlife Theories I Think Are Most Likely True
I.                    God-Source: God-Source is the universal benevolent genderless energy force that is the sum total of every spirit/soul in existence, often appearing as a healing white light. (God, Allah, Adonai, Jehovah, Yahweh, Atum, El, Brahman, Tao, Great Spirit, etc. all describe the same energy.) God-Source created everything and split into thousands of sparks during the Big Bang. (like how cells split apart and create a body or water molecules create an ocean). Although God-Source has always existed, God-Source created living and nonliving things to be able to experience existence through them. God-Source is us and we are all God-Source. No experience is lesser than another because God-Source loves everyone and everything equally. We exist in order to grow, love, and experience earthly life. Learning and suffering and experiencing the contrast of love and joy are only parts of our whole experience and not our main reason for incarnation, unlike New Age teaching says. (The main reason is to learn love in action and to experience life as a mortal for any species). The more we love ourselves and others, the more God-Source and the universes grow and expand. It is God-Source’s power that enables spirits to endure the cycles of birth, death, and rebirth in any world. Everyone, even the darkest of entities are part of God-Source. Once every soul has evolved to their best selves, they will merge again with God-Source. The universes will end at the end of time and God-Source will rest, before another Big Bang cycle occurs again. God-Source is happy when we love ourselves and other living things, but does not judge us for our mistakes, even the bad ones we all make such as rape, murder, cheating, abuse, war, etc. Even Ascended Masters like Jesus and Buddha have led evil previous lives because no soul is perfect in mortal form.
II.                 Entities and Spirits: Jesus Christ, Buddha, Ascended Masters, Mother Earth being, the deities, nature spirits, angels, demons, light beings, elementals, aliens good and bad, tar/trickster spirits/shadows, the Anunnaki, mythical creatures, spirits of stars, plants, rivers, animals, humans, aliens, objects, etc. all exist…but to our mortal eyes and to the physical world, they do not exist. They reside in other dimensions alongside our own, including the Timeless Realm of Love and Light where all souls are created. Nothing and nowhere is separate. God-Source allows all creations free will, even the evil ones, because every soul is immortal and always improving. The evil aliens (Greys, Reptilians, Anunnaki) who enslaved early human ancestors did what many human colonizers do: fight over land and manipulate the denizens for their own agendas. The good aliens, Ascended Masters, angels, guides etc. focus on helping humanity evolve as a whole because humanity’s evolution will create a more stable galaxy and allow God-Source to evolve more easily. (Despite God-Source having infinite patience). Every living thing has spirit guides and loved ones in spirit from earth life and loved ones from past lives who watch over them. Higher evolved beings are revered as great teachers and have a higher vibration/power level, being able to better understand God-Source and the universe, but they help other souls reach that point at their own pace. Ascended Masters, deities, aliens, animal guides, and other entities see who we are as souls, beyond our race, gender, and culture and will communicate when they feel the time is right.
III.              Time and Past Lives: Time is non-linear in the spirit world. Spirits can travel to any time period because time does not exist, or rather, all time exists for them. A person’s past lives on Earth, future lives on Earth and lives on other planets all are happening at the same time, the experiences helping their Oversoul grow. (Oversoul is the soul’s true form/self, the combination of all the soul’s past life selves and parallel selves.) As Oversouls, every crossed over soul has infinite knowledge about the universe and everything, provided by their natural connection to God-Source. Since Oversouls/Higher Selves/MegaSouls/SuperSpirits cannot communicate with mortals directly, the persona soul that the living loved ones knew will come down to communicate through psychic mediums, dreams, trance, meditation, ritual, etc. without the infinite knowledge. Souls often stay with their soul families; beings of light who have incarnated with them over many lifetimes…but have the option to meet a variety of other souls. (It is like how we stay with our families on Earth). Souls are ageless because time does not exist, and their only "age" is based on incarnation experience; it does not determine "superiority". It is impossible for humans to determine anyone’s exact “soul age.” Some "young" human souls with not as many lifetimes are not always reckless and immature and some "old" human souls who’ve lived hundreds/thousands of lives can be selfish and careless, based on their current life environment and genetics. Quality of lives matter more than quantity, although souls generally have an easier time with more experience. The number of lifetimes we have does not matter in the long run, as long as we learn what we need to learn.
For most humans, we assume we will live a new life in the future for our next incarnation, but since time doesn’t exist in the spirit world, there is also a good chance we will reincarnate into a past era on Earth or on a different planet, depending on what our soul wants to do. This could also mean internally to us that our future lives have already happened, since we are now focused on our current lifetime and not focusing on all the others. We have all been good, evil, male, female, all races, all genders, all cultures, and a variety of human and nonhuman species in our soul journeys. No species is better than another, just different and allowing for a difference existence experience. (Humans have abstract thought and technology, but animals have smell, instincts, and psychic senses.). Spirit guides communicate to their mortal counterparts in dreams, gut feelings, and instincts, but deities only communicate with humans, since humans have senses of rituals, right and wrong, etc. We can reincarnate as humans, animals, plants, aliens, rocks, etc. in any place at any time, with the help of our spirit guides, soul families, and God-Source. We become earth parents, children, siblings, teachers, lovers, etc.; changing roles within our soul families in each new life. It is our soul and God-Source who makes the final decision. The bonds and connections between our parallel universe selves, “past life” and “future life” selves from our Oversoul are second only to our connection to God-Source, even stronger than our soul families, which is slightly lower than our bond with our various selves. (We know ourselves best). No matter where we go, our Oversoul is always connected to us. Our Oversoul has a unique soul signature/light language chant “name” (like “om”) that identifies us.
IV.              Hell and Troubled Souls: No one knows exactly how many dimensions/levels there are. But souls can manifest and manipulate their surroundings by thought. Some people have good Near-Death Experiences and some create their own Hells based on their human fears and beliefs. After the distressed souls create their own Hells and realize there is only love and non-judgment, they have the choice to go with their spirit guides and cross over to the light. Some souls become Earthbound due to dying traumatic violent deaths, feeling strong attachments to people or possessions or not being sure they are dead. Troubled souls can attach themselves to some mortals who are vulnerable to drinking and addictions and abuse. This is due to holes in their auras. The dark souls can briefly experience the cravings of alcohol, drugs, emotions, etc. through the mortal soul, causing weakness and fatigue. In addition, trickster “tar” spirits feed on human fear. It is the responsibility of spirit guides and guardian angels to make sure events like this, plus unforeseen accidents do not happen, but free will makes things tricky. (Not everything is predetermined.) Souls must be able to cross over to the Timeless Realm of Love and Light and complete their Life Reviews in order to reconnect with their true selves and become a full Light Being spirit. Like birth transitions, death transitions are hard for many souls. Only the individual souls stuck on Earth or in illusionary dark realms can make the choice to cross over and thus reincarnate/become their true form. Once souls cross over, they can fully reunite with all their loved ones from all lives, their spirit guides, their pets, their soul families, and also create their own heavens/paradise worlds. Souls first transitioning will experience guides and environments most relevant to their species (oceans for marine souls, fields, towns, parks etc. for humans) for adjustment. Once the soul remembers their powers and identity, they can literally make their own energy worlds. Although every soul knows each other beyond language and species, each soul will experience their own paradise. That’s why no two NDEs or alternate states are alike.
 V.                 Reincarnation: Souls who have unfinished business, died early deaths, or left behind children or important people will often get the chance to reincarnate sooner than other souls to try again at their missions. Walk-in souls are un-common but they do happen. It is when one soul cannot handle physical life, so it leaves. Another soul is guided by a spirit guide to the left-over body before the silver cord connecting the body and soul can be naturally severed. The soul will carefully enter the body with the help of the guides/angel, retaining their previous life memories at the soul’s request. The majority of souls will have their memories of their “past” and “future” lives, and lives in spirit erased by the veil, in order to focus on their new lifetime and not bring conflict and confusion to the roles of their soul family members. Some souls will retain their memories and psychic powers if it will serve their goals and help change the world.
Souls do not choose to be abused, to have disabilities/diseases, or to kill or be killed by anyone before birth, although they are aware of certain events most likely happening in many life possibilities. Some body marks/troubles come from past life trauma beyond the soul/human’s control but can be amended in the next life. Souls of aborted babies are not harmed by abortion and can try again with other parents. Souls of those who committed suicide are not judged either, although they feel the grief of those left behind on Earth and are encouraged to try again for another life. Also, not all souls can choose when they die or know when it’s the right time to go…all souls knowing when they will die is a human myth because tragic unplanned deaths do happen.
VI.              Life Reviews and Karma: All souls of all species go through a Life Review of their previous life after death before becoming their true spirit self. It is the purgatory-like rite of passage to spirit godhood and a completion of the crossing over beyond time. The Life Review can appear like a book or a scroll in the Akashic Records, a theater, a movie screen, or other ways for the individual soul’s preferences. True Life Reviews are neutral, just like karma. Any Life Review that is judgmental and only shows bad actions is a fear-induced illusion. Karma means “action” and helps the soul in self-discovery and natural feedback. (Though there are consequences on Earth and consequences via feelings in Life Reviews, not necessarily past life actions coming back.) Souls can play different roles to make amends (ex. estranged spouses can try again as friends in the next life.) The soul sees the results of all their good, bad, and neutral actions on other living things in life. They become the other person and experience their emotions through them. They are able to see their birth all the way to their death all at once. They are not punished for wrongdoings, but often feel guilty of their mistakes and negative actions toward others. All backstories and perspectives are shared with all souls in the Life Reviews (predator, prey, victim, perpetrators, drug addicts, leaders etc.) Contrary to human thought, the Life Review is not just about the individual soul and its wrongdoings…it involves everyone and everything in a larger picture. The souls also re-experience all their sensations on Earth, good and bad, in fast succession. As the Life Review continues, the soul gains an understanding of their purpose in life and learns the backstories of all their family and those around them. When the Life Review is over, the soul will have gathered all knowledge about all events in their previous life and how accidents and predetermined events alike impacted their lives. The soul also uses their Life Reviews of their “past” and “future” and nonhuman lives to determine their goals and amends for their next incarnation. Although souls have the option to re-merge with God-Source, the majority of them will want to continue to evolve through the natural Reincarnation Cycle (not a punishment) until they feel their learning/karma is finished. Many human souls will most likely continue to be humans for a while, like many animal souls reincarnating as the same type of animal, but not always. Other souls will re-experience happy memories, reunite with all families, create universes, travel through the cosmos and time and watch over the living to further their evolution and love. Life Reviews are mostly hard for human souls only.
 VII.            Life-Planning:
Souls carefully plan their next lives with the help of their soul families, spirit guides and God-Source. They choose their birth race, birth gender, birth parents, and birth location. They are aware of certain events more likely to happen, but also know that things can change. With their soul families and spirit council, they discuss the roles they will play (parent, child, sibling, spouse, lover, teacher, opponent, pet, etc.)
The soul goes through various stations to prepare them for mortal life:
Incarnation Station (what Michael Newton calls the Ring of Destiny.) This is where souls and their guides go to plan their future lives, animal, human, male, female, good, evil etc. They can go through time and experience immersive trailers/scenes of many appropriate future lives. The new life is chosen by the soul based on 1: their goals and mission 2: their soul family incarnating with them 3: Curiosity/diversity 4: Advice from guides. The soul and guides and God-Source review millions of life possibilities at the same time. From this, a life-plan blueprint is made for the soul and the spirit guides watching over the soul. The soul accepts greater likelihoods of certain challenges, diseases, traumas etc. but knows that anything can change. (Thus, contrary to New Age, the soul does not fully choose disabilities or certain karma events “just to learn.” And they do not agree to be a victim/villain with someone else because they are a pure being) Past lives are also reviewed for the soul to integrate into the next life. All past life personalities, some more prominent than others, are integrated into the new incarnating soul persona.
No soul ever chooses to be evil/abusive but are aware of the risks and greater chances of harming others in certain time periods and environments. Souls are not judged, they only judge themselves and figure out what needs to be done.
Creature Crossover Center: This station is for souls preparing to incarnate from nonhuman to human and vice versa or animal to plant to alien etc. Human thoughts and worries are dulled down, replaced by sensations of instincts to make it easier for souls wanting to become animals. Animal/plant souls wanting to become human go through extra training due to human free will, fear of death, abstract thought and our many anxieties.
Emotions And Instincts Integration: Here souls experience the vast emotions and instincts of the species they will incarnate as. They will feel human grief, joy, ecstasy, anger, and many other emotions. They also learn how to control their feelings and thoughts.
Spirit Guide Station: Souls who have evolved much on Earth, will choose which mortals to watch and go over how to review the soul’s life plan. They are instructed how to help the soul with opportunities, communicating with other spirit guides and further protecting the mortals from dark entities. (Animals and plants also have their own spirit guides that watch over them, but the spirit guides of humans check on their humans more frequently due to human free will and their immense evolution.) Humans have the advantages of abstract thought, ability to communicate with spirits/entities, understand their actions while on Earth, technology and concepts but animals have no fear of death, instincts, sensing spirits, and a greater spiritual evolution/attunement/understanding of God-Source natural law and unconditional love.
Sensation Swirl: Souls, before going through the Pain And Pleasure Simulator, souls will go beyond time through the Swirl. They experience at the same time (to numb the effects), all the pleasures and pains of the universe from all time periods. Since the soul absorbs knowledge and sensations, this ensures they are more prepared for all kinds of deaths and experiences before incarnating.
Pleasure and Pain Simulator: After choosing their new life, souls either in groups or privately with their guide will go through a simulator that stimulates pleasures and pains on their planet. They experience, at random, 100 pleasures and 10 fatal pains (10 pleasures and 2 pains per session), based on the most likely death scenarios for their lives. They can experience anything from burning to freezing to diseases, heart attacks, to being eaten, but also experience sex, food, drink, love and the many joys that mortals take for granted to help them get used to them.
Mentor Meeting: Souls will finish their conversations with their soul families, reviewing the roles they will play in the future life. (Mothers, fathers, lovers, children, friends etc.). Guides and divine council members will give the soul helpful constructive advice and send them strength and courage.
Veil Simulator: All incarnating souls about to leave the timeless realm, go through the veil simulator, knowing the crushing feeling of shrinking, losing its powers and its memories. This ensures they are more prepared for the real thing.
VIII.         Spirit Natural Powers/Abilities and Pros and Cons of Mortality:
 Spirit Advantages And Powers:
Telepathic Communication: Souls can communicate mind to mind, without the use of words. This ability is shared by all souls: animal, human, plant, alien, deva, etc.
Teleportation by Thought: just by thinking about a person or location, the soul can find themselves there.
Soul Merging: any soul can share memories/Life Reviews with each other and briefly become the other soul. This can be done with multiple souls at once.
Self Switch: At any time, the soul or the Oversoul/Megasoul can shapeshift into any past life self/persona.
Thought/Feeling Blocking: Advanced souls or souls wishing to be in privacy can block the thoughts and feelings of other souls around them. Karma is neutral feedback system, not punishment.
Heightened Emotions and Thoughts: Souls can feel happiness, sadness, and emotions more intensely than their mortal counterparts. They can feel the grief of those left behind and the perspectives of all individuals around them. It is only by completing their Life Reviews and accepting their mistakes can souls fully crossover into the Timeless Realm of Love and Light where God-Source and their homeland is.
Telekinesis: Souls can move substances in their world and, depending on power and advancement, can manipulate physical matter and objects. Objects are easier to manipulate with many stronger souls.
Immortality: Souls and spirits are immortal, on a constant journey of love, wisdom, and self-discovery. The soul knows whether it still needs to incarnate and what activities are best for them. This also means they can handle death and re-experiencing traumatic past life memories. No pain, no hunger, no thirst and no body and mind restrictions!
Energy Sensing: Souls can see and sense energy and molecules and atoms in everything. They also have access to the origins and auras of matter, energy and living things from the Akashic Records.
Time Travel: All souls can visit any time period since time is not linear. They can re-experience their past lives and see future life possibilities. They can even reincarnate into the past but they have to discuss the matter with God-Source.
Infinite Knowledge: As Megasouls/Oversouls, spirits have infinite knowledge of the universe thanks to God-Source. They can share this with other souls but not with mortals. They can only appear as the same soul/persona that the mortal knew them as, due to the fact that mortals cannot perceive the Oversoul and that infinite knowledge could alter the timelines. Thus, the limited knowledge/beliefs of the spirit is shared with the mortal family members/friends. This is why discrimination must be done with any spirit advice.
Oversoul name: The soul’s true huge self is comprised of all it’s past life incarnations together (like God-Source is comprised of everyone and everything). Our true name is a Light Language harmonic sound/song chant and unique symbol/color, (ex. “Om, na, ki, sey”) giving us uniqueness and joy). The tone followed by an Earth name or sound will call the associated soul/persona. Soul families also have their own unique symbols and frequencies for identification.
Environment Manifestation: Souls and the afterlife world of energy can manifest various environments appropriate for the souls’ comfort level and evolution. This is why the afterlife looks different to everyone. Some souls will experience dark astral environments with like-minded souls after a hard life until they are ready to move onto higher spheres. For regular souls, they can journey into any sphere and visit anyone since nothing is separate and there is no limiting hierarchy and souls aren’t limited to only staying with their soul group or like-minded souls in contrast to many New Age views.
God-Source Merging: Souls can temporarily merge with God-Source at any time, feeling whole and complete. This is because God-Source is in everyone and everything. Contrary to New Age belief, God-Source is not a near impossible state to reach only after becoming an Ascended Master. The main goal is for all souls to complete their incarnations together and merge completely with God-Source after their times on Earth are finished/after the end of time. Eventually after this immense healing, God-Source will encourage the soul or the soul will encourage itself to complete their next mission. (Though it’s incredibly hard to leave the love of God-Source again.) It also explains the feelings of knowing/oneness/seeing white light in some NDEs.
Dream Entering: Some souls can enter and change dreams of mortals.
Soul Attachment: For the darker entities, some can attach onto mortals, drain their energy, alter their thoughts or even get an energy high from substances, drugs, alcohol etc.
Healing: Souls have the natural ability to heal the various etheric bodies/soul bodies, some souls can do this easier than others.
Although quality of incarnations matter more than quantity, many souls have an easier time and are “older” with more incarnation experiences. Many “older” souls will become human/aliens in comparison to other species, but any soul can become anything with enough training and preparation. But all souls are equal and ageless.
Love: Crossed over spirits are made from light, energy, and love. They can send immense love and joy to anyone, providing clarity and instant healing.
 Spirit Disadvantages:
Inability To Eat And Drink: Since spirits aren’t living mortals, they cannot enjoy food and drink like mortals can. They can, however, get good feelings by consuming the energy of their favorite foods. That is why many people leave offerings to deities and ancestors to show respect. The spirits can also present themselves eating and enjoying activities to comfort their mortal families.
Inability to Have Sex: Although souls can merge with each other and know each other’s thoughts in divine bliss, they cannot experience the bodily pleasures of sex, drugs, drinks etc. like mortals (unless they are a bad soul attaching to a vulnerable mortal).
Communication Misunderstanding: Spirits can’t communicate with mortals with words and via regular means. Instead, they have to resort to manipulating light objects and using the energy of dreams and altered states to present clues to mortals. Oftentimes, many souls at once will work to communicate with a mortal.
No Private Thoughts: Crossed over spirits are one with everyone and everything, including objects. While this brings divinity, it offers almost no privacy for thoughts and feelings. By experiencing incarnation, the soul can have an individual experience with no one to read their thoughts and feelings. The soul can briefly live the illusion of separation and feel truly unique, if not lonely at times.
Slower Evolution: While spirits can evolve just fine in the spirit world helping mortals and creating new worlds, evolving in a physical form allows for faster growth and an adventure experience. Even negative short lives are valuable to the soul.
IX.         Guides and Protectors: All mortals and living things have guides in spirit that watch over them. Family members in spirit will visit their mortal loved ones every day. The guides will go in shifts and won’t watch 24/7 since they have their own afterlives and evolution. Spirit guides can be anything and anyone: people previously on Earth who volunteer to watch a mortal, guardian angels, loved ones from a current life or past life, ancestors, aliens, nature spirits, deities, ascended masters, demons, animal guides, and many others. Guardian angels will assist the soul in birth and death and some spirit guides stay with the soul for life, while others come and go. Spirit guides know our souls and do not judge us based on our culture, race, gender, or even our mistakes and actions.
 X.          The Purpose Of All Souls:
Our purpose is not to experience contrast and suffering for growth; that is only one part of our life.
“Our purpose here is to discover unconditional love within ourselves and offer it to others. We are all on the path. What differs is the road we take, the experiences we choose, and how much we have learned about love. No road is better or more important than another. It is all a matter of what speaks to your heart and feels like home within. We are here to explore, experience, and find joy in the process of living an earthly existence. Our evolution and ascension as a spiritual being happens organically at a time when we are ready to receive it. We are all constantly growing, evolving, and changing. But this is not anything we have to force or for which we need a certain skill set. We are all spiritual beings having the human experience. All these experiences are a little different than the person standing next to us.” – NDE report

"The trick about immortality is not about living forever, Jackie. Is about living with yourself forever."-Captain Teague, Pirates of the Caribbean.
"The Dutchman must have a Captain."-Bootstrap Bill, Pirates of the Caribbean.
"Look, the Moonlight reveals us for what we truly are. We aren't among the dead and neither amongst the living. For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it. For too long I've been starving to death and haven't died. I feel nothing. Not the wind on my face, nor the spray of the sea. Nor the warmth of a woman's flesh. You better start believing in ghost stories Miss Turner. You are in one."-Hector Barbossa, Pirates of the Caribbean.
"We men are now the monsters. The time of heroes is dead, Wiglaf. The Christ God has killed it. Leaving only weeping martyrs and shame."-Beowulf, Beowulf (2007).
"The Gods won't allow me to die by a feeble blade. The Gods won't allow me to be taken by the sea. Plunge your axe there, Finn of Frisia. Do what? Kill me? Do it! Kill me! Kill me! Kill me! You know why you can't kill me friend? Because I died many, many years ago when I was young."- Beowulf, Beowulf (2007)
Which Soulsborne games you played would you associate this quotes to?
Quote 1 & 5
Bloodborne. More specifically, Gehrman, who is forced by the Moon Presence to exist forever in the Hunter's Dream until the Hunter releases him from it.
Quote 2
Dark Souls in general. It reminds me of the endless cycle of reigniting the flame once the fire faded.
Quote 3
Dark Souls again. It reminds me of the Curse of the Undead and how humanity reverses the hollowing and gives you back your human appearance.
Quote 4
Demon’s Souls, maybe. In Demon’s Souls, God gave humans a soul, the power of clarity. With a soul, people can think, and with thoughts, they can influence their surroundings. Humans used the souls for sorcery, which wasn’t intended because it resulted in them turning against each other to acquire power from others. Instead of using God’s gift for good, humans abused it to do harm. That is why God placed the Old One, the original souls devouring demon, on Earth as a form of punishment.

Freestyle Setting #1
In the beginning there were 6 great gods: - Gwenya, mother of elves. - Bealdor, lord of humans. - Doni, father of dwarves. - Rolghen, master of beasts. - Nurcelinn, queen of fairies. - and Retanvechadred, god of dragons.
Gwenya gave birth to the great elven spirits, also known as the Elven Pantheon: - Velais, he who sang with the winds. - Avaron, he who ruled the flames underground. - Eledys, she who broke the endless summer and created winter, and then was locked in the Eye of the North, encased in eternal ice amidst the sea of icebergs. - Favana, she who restored balance Eledys caused and put animals and trees to sleep during the winter so they would wake up in the spring. Then, Gwenya created elves in a lake of tears Eledys' shed in regret.
Bealdor created humans, and sent his son - Bearn - to spread gifts and teach compassion. But Bearn was killed by humans allied with the evil forces, and Bealdor, unknowingly, turned his back to his creation, only rarely answering prayers of the ones who asked forgiveness for the deeds of their kin. Bearn was known to have many children, but his bloodline spread too thin, and only in the afterlife were they granted any saint status. - Wyrcan, saint of craftsmen. - Heathorinc, saint of warriors. - Modorrah, saint of mothers. - Aergod, saint of fathers. - Creod, saint of death. - Faemna, saint of maidens. - and the Saint of strangers.
Doni himself established the first kingdoms of the dwarves, beginning the divine line of dwarven kings, and died in the age of 1234. It is said he wakes up, at times, in the minds of those who have his blood in them, and his spirit reincarnates every 1234 years.
Rolghen was the primal evil of all, corrupting Avaron and making him his servant, taking his realm and calling it Hell, stealing souls traveling to the afterlife by pulling them by the "tails of evil" that manifest in their souls; Rolghen then used to corrupt souls of the dead, unable to create his own, and turn them into spawns of evil that he spread through the world. He also corrupted Heathorinc, the human Saint of Warriors, and made him his great instrument of influencing the world.
