Demeter asks: 2, 5, 6, 14, 16, 17, 22, 25, 29 (I love Demeter can you tell? 😄)
I would have been able to answer this on actual Demeter day, but Tumblr went down right when I was trying to post this last night, so it's a day late
Hell yeah! Let's do this! Demeter lovers assemble!!!
ahem but first let me put in a trigger warning for domestic abuse and child abuse
Even if that sort of thing is upsetting to you, you should still be able to safely continue reading if you skip questions 5 & 6
2. Who do they look to for guidance?
Depending on the nature of the issue, usually either Bomba or Deut, and also an elder OC I haven't discussed in detail yet named Hildebriar
5. What is a secret that they have?
This is the trigger warning one! From here to "End TW" contains discussions of abuse
Okay you ready for some controversial headcanons?
She was abused by her father as well as several of her older brothers, and she had at least two abusive intimate relationships before meeting Macavity.
Mac himself didn't actually physically abuse her, but he abused a lot of other people in his life during the time Demeter was with him, and he terrified her because she knew what he was capable of.
The Jellicles (except Bomba whose time with Mac overlapped Demeter's) think he must have smacked her around, because they recognize her behavior as typical of an abuse victim. She knows it's wrong to let them think that, but she's too ashamed and afraid to admit that her own father hurt her.
(Mac, for his part, recognizes that he treated her poorly, even if it was better than he treated most people those days, even if it was better than whoever hurt her before, it's no excuse, he knows he was a jerk and that associating with him was terrible for her mental health, and it's something he regrets deeply)
6. Would they trust anyone with their secret?
Bomba knows it wasn't Mac that hurt her, because she was already hurt when she joined the gang. But she doesn't know about her father.
Demeter wants to tell someone, but she's so ashamed. She thinks Bomba and/or Munk should be the people she tells, but she would probably actually find it easier to talk to Deuteronomy about it. Compassionate, empathetic Deut who doesn't have a hateful bone in his body.
While she loves Munk and Bomba dearly, and they love and support her with all their hearts, her shame is so great that she feels if they knew the truth they wouldn't love her anymore, and losing their love would be devastating.
But she can't imagine Deut ever rejecting or judging someone over what happened in their past (especially if they did nothing wrong, no matter how much they feel like they did).
End TW. You should be able to continue safely from this point
Okay so we've opened up with some pretty heavy thoughts. Time to move on to more lighthearted stuff!
14. What is something that never fails to make them excited?
Roller coasters. You'd think she'd be terrified, but she just loves them. Huge adrenaline rush, and that sort of "safe danger" kind of scary that feels super good (for some people anyway lol). Theme parks in general would be one of her favorite places, if it weren't for the crowds. Theme parks on a slow day? Ultimate day out 👍
Same goes for horror video games, for the same reason. PT, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Slender, she's a big fan of all of these. This doesn't carry over to most horror films though, except sci-fi horrors (Alien is one of her favorites). She tends to prefer suspenseful mysteries when it comes to getting a thrill from film and tv.
16. What is the most romantic thing someone has done for them?
You mean aside from putting their own life/safety at risk to save/protect her?
Well once the she went walking in the woods with Bombs and Munk. By and by they got tired and sat down to rest a while in the shade of a tree. Cuddled up between her lovers, Demeter soon fell asleep.
When Munk and Bomba noticed they decided to try to have a surprise ready for her when she woke up. They took turns watching over her and gathering flowers. Munk also waded into a nearby stream to retrieve up some smooth shiny pebbles that he spotted, and Bomba picked up every bird feather she saw.
Then together they arranged them into flower crowns, with the tiny pebbles as gemstones and the feathers as ornaments. They scattered the leftover flowers around on the ground.
When she woke up she saw them both grinning at her, wearing the strangest flower crowns on their heads. What kind of flower crown has rocks and dirty old feathers in it? She giggled and asked what they'd been up to while she was asleep.
They pointed out the crown on her own head, which was even more ridiculous extravagant then theirs, and she noticed the flowers scattered around her, and she realized this was for her.
Her heart melted. She just about cried she was so moved. She had to explain to her (now very concerned) lovers that she wasn't upset, in fact she couldn't be happier!
The flowers have long since faded away, as flowers do, but she still has the feathers and pebbles, kept safe in a little tin box she keeps near her bed.
17. Who is their favorite person(s) to spend time with?
That's easy. Bombs and Munk. Her angels 💛💛
Outside of her romantic interests, though, she has rather a unique friendship with Mungo. No I can't explain it, and they can't explain it either. Somehow they just click ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Mostly they kid around, goof off, act silly, and make dumb jokes when they hang out. I guess Mungo's easy-going sense of humor helps Demeter loosen up and enjoy life a little more
22. How indecisive are they?
Hmmm mildly. She sometimes struggles internally with important decisions, but little things are usually pretty easy.
One thing's for sure, she couldn't decide between Munk and Bomba. Good thing they love each other too! They have a perfect lovely three-sided romance because none of them could choose between the other two (nor were they remotely interested in choosing)
25. What is something they think they’re bad at, but are actually pretty competent at?
Fighting. She's braver than she gives herself credit for, and stronger than she seems as well. And damn is she fierce when she wants to be 💛
29. What do they do to relax?
Draw. A lot. She especially loves drawing people, and especially her loved ones. She has pages and pages and pages of sketches of Munk, Bomba, Deut, Mungo, the kittens, and the rest of the tribe. And she draws landscapes and horizons and just general scenery stuff, especially her own home and places around the Junkyard, and sometimes she draws objects, but she never arranges them in still-life, just draws them as is
She also draws things that trouble, her for therapeutic purposes. If it's something that bothers her enough she'll destroy it, but she's held on to quite a few sketches of her brothers, fire, Control officers, thunderstorm scenes, Mac, and other things she doesn't like, hidden away within the pages of her sketchbooks. She always destroys the drawings of her father though
She also plays piano, and while not all pieces are very relaxing to play *cough Liszt cough* she especially loves to play Chopin (her favorite composer), even the difficult ones, but especially the nocturnes
But for maximum relaxation, she loves to spend time just lounging in either Bomba's or Munk's arms, or ideally both. Many an afternoon she has spent half asleep in their arms, soaking up their warmth, maybe listening to one of their heartbeats, just perfectly content

People are getting confused over my vague reactions so, some thoughts about episode 4 under the cut
... Again, what was that? I was thrown right back in the worst episodes of season 2 where I felt I wasn’t watching an adaptation of American Gods but something else entirely.
One part of the episode is... simply not American Gods with nothing from the book in it. Another part of the episode feels like a badly written fanfic.
I will not lie, I am getting quite bored of Bilquis’ storyline. It is dragging on too much, and it just pulls the story in a direction that goes too far away from the book for me. Maybe it will pay off, but honestly I did not became a fan of the show to see Bilquis become a major character when she was just a two-scenes character in the novel.
I hope that the Demeter’s subplot will not become something that takes up Wednesday’s entire screen time in this season. If Wednesday spends the entireity of season 3 trying to obtain Demeter’s help, I will honestly be pissed off - unless there is an excellent pay-off.
So... Laura is ALIVE now? What the... Her being an undead was one of the key characteristics of her original character. Again, they are hyper-exploiting her character. They should slow down on that.
For the Orishas, I currently cannot say anything because I don’t know where they want to go... on one side I picked up that they acted the very opposite of Anansi, preaching solidarity and help and unity where Mr. Nancy preached anger, violence and rebellion. That was pretty clear. But on the other side - why would Oshun go help Bilquis? What do they have to do with Bilquis storyline? Weren’t the Orishas sold as part of Shadow’s story?
My biggest concern with this episode however was that... it felt really like a parody sometimes. I hope they were trying to be funny and simply failed to recognize it was mishandled, because else it means they included funny stuff without realizing it, and... it would be very sad. But I mean... You can’t play Tech Boy’s PTSD-like troubles seriously but then use it as jokes. They use him and his new persona as if he was still the character from the book, a relatively not-so-powerful New God with limited control over technology - when previous seasons established that he was one of the main New Gods and the embodiment of technology as a whole... The same goes with Bilquis - when she forgets her true name and Oshun comes to her, it is a serious, powerful scene, but then they make a joke about it when she appears simply crazy to the guards... There’s a serious unbalance in tone here.
And again - they are straying away from the book. What has the disparition of a crooked CEO anything to do with American Gods? That’s just... I don’t know what it is.
Anyway, two good episodes that put faith back in me, two episodes I did not really liked that took back this faith. I’m back to square one.

It Goes Like This Prologue: Diana
Next up of the Big Three, it’s mortal born Diana Prince! Well, more precisely, it’s the women who came before her, but she’ll show up properly soon enough.
---
“I’m sick of men.”
Not looking up from the financial reports she was going over, Antiope hummed in response to her sister’s growled complaint.
“I mean it, An. I’m sick of them - no more, I refuse to have anything else to do with those, those-”
“Pigs,” Antiope offered.
“Pigs!” Hippolyta agreed, throwing her hands up as she paced back and forth. “Good for nothing except thinking with their stomachs and their-” A knock at the office door interrupted her, causing both sisters to pause.
“Come in,” Antiope called, setting her reports down. One of their younger administrators poked her head past the door, looking excited.
“Pardon the intrusion, ma’ams,” she said, “But you have a visitor.”
Hippolyta grimaced. “If it’s anyone male, tell them to wait an hour.”
“No, Ms. Prince, it’s- well-” A hand reached past her to push the door open further, allowing a tall woman in an austere suit to stride through. Antiope’s eyes grew wide as she immediately stood, and Hippolyta’s expression smoothed over into something pleased.
“Athena Pallas, what an unexpected surprise.” She extended a hand to shake with the head of Owl Enterprises, one of the few big-name tech companies with a woman in charge. Athena smiled back.
“I hope you’ll forgive the abruptness of my arrival, Hippolyta, but my schedule had an unexpected opening and I thought I’d see if we could move up next week’s meeting,” the brunette explained.
“Of course, of course, please have a seat - this is my sister, Antiope, my right-hand woman.”
“Delighted to finally meet you in person, Antiope,” Athena said, exchanging one sister’s hand for the other.
“Likewise- do you prefer Athena or Ms. Pallas?”
“Athena is fine - I’d like to think we’re all sisters in arms, here,” the woman grinned. “Especially if the two of you are willing to consider my offer of a merger.”
That caught their attention, and two pairs of steely grey eyes locked onto her as they all sat down. “What are you proposing, exactly?”
“An upset in the status quo, as it were,” Athena purred. “A few close friends and I find ourselves in positions of individual power, but we’re constantly hampered by those who think less of us thanks to a biological difference - I’m sure you both know what that’s like.”
Hippolyta nodded with a disgusted huff, while Antiope kept her focus. “And what friends would these be?”
Athena smiled sharply. “Demeter Floros of Greenfinch Producers. Aphrodite Loveborne with Passion Advertising. Hestia Kokkinos of Hearthside Manufacturing. And my stepmother, Hera Argyris, who’s recently taken charge of Olympian Industries with my father’s, ah, indisposition.”
Zeus Skyson’s sudden legal troubles, the sisters knew, meant his company’s board of directors had seen fit to remove him from the position of CEO. What they hadn’t known was that Athena apparently didn’t mind working with her stepmother, contrary to tabloid gossip.
“That’s, ah, quite an array of companies,” Antiope said slowly.
“Powerhouses in all their fields of business,” Athena agreed. “Which is why we’d like to join forces with you ladies - we need financial managers capable of keeping us working together, of blending us into a proper conglomerate.”
The sisters exchanged a wide-eyed glance. “...why?” Hippolyta finally asked.
“Why you?”
“Well, yes, but also - just why? What is the point? This can’t just be solely for female solidarity - can it?”
Athena chuckled. “Well, that is one aspect to it, but beyond that we want to make a business model that takes care of our employees, turns a profit, and sees a great deal of that money go towards programs that help teenage runaways, abortion clinics, battered women, daycares, single mothers, foster homes, so on and so forth.”
“Ambitious,” Antiope muttered.
“Will you help us?”
There was a brief pause, before Hippolyta answered. “We’ll need to work out precise terms, but - yes. This sounds like something we want to be part of.”
Their guest beamed. “Excellent. I’ll start making arrangements for you to meet with the others - if we keep this quiet up until the moment we all move, we’ll hopefully be able to keep the men on our various boards from being able to kick up a fuss.”
-P-
Amazingly, their plans went off without a hitch.
Working through Themyscira Financials, the women were able to put together their plans without arousing suspicions in their own companies. The announcement of the mass merger went out the same day they brought paperwork to their various boards, an ambush that left few able to protest.
Demeter’s company brought in the raw materials for Hestia and Hera to create Athena’s architectural and technological innovations, which Aphrodite then marketed and sold. At the heart of it all, Hippolyta and Antiope kept crunching numbers, sorting out what profit needed to go back into the company, what went to their employees and shareholders, and the fifty percent that was put aside for the women’s programs, shelters, and other institutions. Within two years, they saw impressive returns on their investments, with many of the people they helped becoming dedicated customers in return - some even applying to be hired by Paradise Incorporated, eager to help pass on the goodwill that they’d been given.
Eventually, the group decided to establish a new headquarters - a company compound with offices and residential suites for all the on-site staff, within a reasonable commute distance to Metropolis. About that same time, Hippolyta, still sick of men, came to a decision.
“I’m going to have a baby.”
Not looking up from the financial reports she was going over, Antiope hummed in response to her sister’s sudden announcement. Then the actual words sank in, and she blinked. “You’re- sorry, what?”
“I’m going to have a baby,” Hippolyta said again. “I’ve got an appointment at an artificial insemination clinic in two weeks.”
“Oh for goodness sake, don’t scare me like that,” her sister groaned. “I thought you meant you were already pregnant - which would be a trick and a half, considering you swore off men three years ago and haven’t looked back since.”
Hippolyta snorted, moving to sit by her office window, the one that overlooked the enclosed park in the center of the Paradise compound. Six floors of tinted glass that absorbed light for solar power overlooked a couple of fish ponds, an in-house vegetable garden, various fruit trees and flower beds, and an open green. Women strolled or sat throughout the park, some with small children or friendly dogs, eating lunch or working on touchscreen pads or just enjoying the scenery. Paradise had some male employees, of course, but since their headquarters doubled as living space for women who’d been hired out of their rehab and recovery programs, none but the fairer sex and their children were allowed inside.
(Some news media did their best to turn the discrimination fight onto them for the conglomerate’s blatant favoritism - Aphrodite’s ladies promptly put out numbers on their endeavors to support male survivors of abuse and rape, as well as historical records of just how much women had suffered in the past when they were kept legally and socially from being able to look after themselves.)
Their work truly had turned Paradise into something incredible, and Hippolyta felt ready to share that with a child of her own.
A daughter of her own.
---
I admit, I’ve always been a big fan of Greek Mythology, hence some fun with the surnames and company roles of the goddesses. Other members of the pantheon will probably show up in future, either as allies or antagonists, so keep your eyes peeled!
Next up we’ll have Kal’s prologue, and then some actual adult shenanigans to add to the story.

CAN YAMAN & DEMET ÖZDEMIR
Tumblr media
(This is a translation of the original note written in Spanish)
AN INSTALLED FORMULA
It is easy for people who achieve a good combination in their joint work, put together a FORMULA, install it and position it. And when that FORMULA is the architect of total success, disintegrating that partnership that was the focus of public appreciation is a difficult task. It is not impossible, of course not, but it will require very careful analysis of what strategy to carry out so that both regain their identity and the public values them individually. We see it followed in the Political FORMULAS, which are put together and disarmed thanks to teams of strategy advisors that will make you choose them again.
Tumblr media
THE CANDEM & CANEM FORMULA   The same is true in the artistic medium, we were spectators of the fantastic FORMULA composed by Can Yaman & Demet Özdemir, the protagonists of Erkenci Kuş. In this family series, suitable for all audiences, careful in what they 'showed', we were convinced that their love pierced the screen. A perfect and unbeatable chemical composition, which was awarded and recognized in Turkey as abroad winning thousands of fans around the world. And if you also tell the information and rumors that this love was still off set, let me tell you that you will need a lot of strength to lift the anchor and set sail for a new destination or project. But, what happens when the series ends and the protagonists must take a new job? How can we get the audience to agree to see them with a new partner without "attacking" against the previous FORMULA that has been tattooed on the viewer's heart? It will be a challenge for producers, marketing experts and advertisers to convince the public of that acceptance in a new story, the goal of which will be no more or less than to install a new FORMULA.   FIRST THE LADIES The first to try to break the paradigm was Demet Özdemir, who taking the opposite path to romantic comedy, stars today, with the talent that we are accustomed to ¨Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir ¨ (the house where you were born), a true drama, by the hand of Ibrahim Çelikkol. Why him? Let us begin by highlighting that he is a very dear, talented and experienced Turkish actor.  But, from our point of view, we understand that there was an essential component in the search for the profile that is related to the personal life of the actor: low profile, married and with family.  Are you surprised? Not to us, because that detail that does not seem important will be the unconscious guarantee of the acceptance sought.  Even the actor who appears as her partner in the first chapter meets the same requirements. Chance? No. On Demet's part, it was also key to keep their private life out of exposure, of course, those of us who know the media business, we know what happens in the face of a lack of information, but this is what we'll talk about later. Even a minor detail that the press has installed, at the time of ending Erkenci Kuş, the belief that Demet had fought with Can Yaman and that not only did she not want to know more about him, but also that she was in relationship with the success they did together. This supposed dissociation undoubtedly favored the welcome to the new FORMULA.  And if they put even more inventive and creativity into this, they could even convince us that the actress had hired a company to remove from the internet search engines any trace that the relationship affectionately with Can Yaman. How lucky that many of us read the news wisely and don't believe everything they postǃ THE FORMULA Demet & Ibrahim was accepted, perhaps not with the absolute fanaticism that the CANDEM & CANEM FORMULA. We can interpret that this is due to several reasons, firstly Can & Demet had left the rod very high at the level "LEGENDARYDUO", what they transmitted together was really magical. Second, the new story doesn't give rise to moments that show the madness of two lovers who seek each other with soul and life until their eyes connect and sparks emerge like fireworks. We should also keep in mind that the audience that viewers of a romantic comedy like Erkenci Kuş differs from that of the drama, because in the first we will be able to find children and teenagers that catch them a romantic and funny story, even more so when it is starring young influencers. Similarly, the number of older people who prefer to abstract themselves from a reality with drops of sadness, with a story that invites you to laugh and dream, is superior.   IT'S CAN YAMAN'S TURN After serving in his country and spending time in "boxes", came a project that caught Can's attention and the time to embark on the adventure bound for BayYanış (Mr. Incorrect) has arrived. Preparing the ground for what is to come, Can shared images of his life showing mostly alone or with his mother, without fans or situations where he could see him with some company. Prior to this enthusiasm and expectation, some "brains" have analyzed how to put together a new FORMULA.  What did they choose Özge Gürel?  But hadn't the press told that no one wanted to work with him again? Maybe you feel cheated, it's not for less, so the press works, how lucky you didn't believe them againǃ The chosen profile, arguably, is that 'kill two birds with one stone'. A safe bet, hand in hand with this talented, versatile and beautiful actress with whom Can has already shared the lead in "Donulay". Both Özge and Can are very much loved abroad, especially in Italy and Spain, which allows us to project the commercialization of the series outside Turkey. And of course, there was no shortage of the ingredient we suggest: Özge has been in a couple for many years with a talented, attractive and well-known actor, while keeping both a low profile, in a relationship that we might call "sweet, durable and pastel color". Will we let Özge kiss Can? Of course!   THE PRESS - That Partner / Evil Needed Always remember that the press will collaborate in the promotion of the actors, their series and illuminate them with the most powerful focus to capture everyone's gaze, but this is not free. In exchange for this 'service' they will need a kind of "coima", said in other words, they will want to be part of the business, of that brightness that they themselves helped to illuminate (and that they almost believe that the actor owes them their popularity). How will they do that? Do you think a magazine sells because the headline announces who the actor was inspired to develop his new character? No, let's be fooled. The press will need as currency PRIVATE LIFE INFORMATION, this is non-negotiable. Some Hollywood actors, experienced in the subject (who have already gone through all kinds of situations), usually generate their own rumors and the press operators will deal with the distribution. They will eventually deny them, but in the meantime, the magazines achieved the expected sales. Romances, acquisitions, investments, how much they earn, who they're fighting, what they did on their vacation, how much they spent, who they spent the night before, and even what religion they're dabbling into to find inner peace. Do you understand how it works? Now, what happens when this balance ¨I give you – you give me" breaks? Well, you as a faithful follower of Can and Demet witnessed many slander, remember? Can and Demet long to keep their private life in a safe under 7 keys and with exclusive access through their fingerprint. They will debunk, deny, hide, omit, distract, and if necessary lie to keep their eyes to another place. Occasionally they share a photo of their pets, some language they learn, a dance and how they are generous kids, some solidarity action that help spread.  But this for the press, it's not enough, they can entertain them only for a few hours. Then, in the face of this 'unbalance' they are "forced" to invent the famous rumors of courtships, fights and situations that infuriate the fans. How sad we get when we read the opinion of many Turkish ladies prejudging Demet for the number of boyfriends attributed to him by the press. Or when many claim that Can and Demet hate each other. Please don't be ridiculous! Hate is not part of these kids' language.    LAST STEP: 'Self-agreement: If you buy it, you can sell it Resuming our discussion on THE FORMULA, we cannot omit to refer to the brief note that can was made yesterday at the departure of Gold Film, after the meeting with the members of BayYanış.  ¨Out of courtesy, the first questions he was asked were about how he was and the new series. After the press's "gentileza" was over, they quickly inserized the recent rumour made with editing techniques, by a character of little value, who would have built an image with a false conversation with Can. Of course, it had already been explained by his press advisor, which was an absurd lie with Photoshop. But the worst happened then, understand this well, from the commercial point of view on the way to the launch of your new series, when asked about his relationship with ¨Demet = PREVIOUS FORMULA¨. They pointed to 'if they made peace'. Then, began to circulate different translations from the original Turkish that divided the audience according to their interpretation.  Let us remember that at the world there are few who perfectly master the Turkish language, outside Turkey, with the level of a ¨native¨', however much many can understand single words or make a literal translation word for word. Many interpreted the question as whether we wanted to know if there was a friendly reconciliation, leaving behind the so-called "fight or angry situation" (that made-up discord I mentioned earlier). On the contrary, others interpreted the question as to whether there was a "love reconciliation". Which of the two interpretations is correct? Neither, both or just one, does it matter? No. The important thing strategically in this instance is to take distance from everything that can relate them to the FORMULA Candem & Canem, because both Can and Demet choose to continue to grow in their artistic careers, choose to be part of this medium and choose that their private life, be private. We are confident that these sweet and hardworking guys will continue to learn day by day, achieving their professional & personal goals. Increasingly developing, the tactical knowledge that will bring them closer to a healthy and non-defamatory balance with the press.   UNOFFICIAL INFORMATION - OUR ENIGMATIC Do we ever tell you about our TOPO Theory? We can divide them (topo = reporting mole) in 3 (three) types without evaluating the quality of the information, but how they give it.  1) The PRICE TOPO you charge for reporting, is an infiltrator or is close to one. 2) The SPEAKER TOPO, the one who heard something and freely distributes the information, carrying and bringing, just because it has a big mouth.  And finally 3) The Innocent TOPO, is that person who, with a distance not so distant, who has feelings so noble and strong that it cannot avoid "highlighting" when false information begins to circulate.
Tonight, fans of CANDEM & CANEM, can thank Ms. No. 3 with a fair profile, are likely to be able to continue wearing their pink lenses. Say no more.
