The season will kick start on 9th April, 2021 in Chennai with a high octane clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The World’s Largest Cricket Stadium - Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the Playoffs as well as the final on 30th May, 2021 which promises to be a visual spectacle. The newly-built stadium that hosted India’s second Pink Ball fixture at home with great grandeur will host its first ever IPL. Each team is set to play at four venues during the league stage. Out of the 56 league matches, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata & Bengaluru will host 10 matches each while Ahmedabad and Delhi will host 8 matches each. One of the highlights of this edition of the VIVO IPL will be the fact that all matches will be played at neutral venues, no team will play at their home venue. All teams will play at 4 out of 6 venues during the league stage.
#IPLVenues Shortlisted: Punjab CM endorses to include Mohali cricket stadium Complete Preparations are in force for the upcoming season of IPL 2021. Among these, some of the venues for the Indian Premier League are shortlisted as potential venues. Although, the final call is pending by BCCI. During this tentative venue list utterings, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh expressed surprise. According to the decision of BCCI, Mohali is not included in the list of venues. Punjab Chief Minister urged the BCCI to include Mohali cricket stadium in the List.
The potential venues for IPL 2021 are #Ahmedabad, #Delhi, #Kolkata, Bengaluru and #Chennai. Soon BCCI will seize the decision. This year, the decisions are more on the basis of COVID-19 cases. Thus, an assurance from Amarinder Singh came about all necessary arrangements for the safety of players. The Punjab CM tweeted- "I am surprised at the exclusion of Mohali Cricket stadium for the upcoming #IPLSeason. I urge and appeal to @BCCI and @IPL to reconsider their decision. There is no reason why Mohali can't host IPL and out government will make all necessary arrangements for safety against #Covid19".
Punjab Kings, before known as Kings Xl Punjab, consider Punjab Cricket Stadium (PCA) at Mohali as their home ground.
Amidst Corona period, Mumbai is one of the cities with spike rates in COVID cases. Therefore, IPL games will not be held in Mumbai though the city was considered during discussion.
The cities with low corona case's rates are being considered for IPL stadiums. Corona is going down drastically. It would be possible that the home venues allow spectators to visit IPL games, unlike IPL 2020 that was held in UAE with no visitors thus, empty stadiums.

Lowest Scores in IPL: List of Lowest Team Total in IPL History
In 11 years of its existence, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen at least once in every edition a team scoring less than 100 runs in an innings. Till date, there have been 35 instances that a team had scored below 100 runs. Such instances were seen the most in IPL 2011 when on 6 occasions a team was bundled out for less than 100. The least was in 2012 which witnessed only one such incident.
Delhi is the team with the most number of scores below 100 with 9. The record for the least number of a team total below 100 belongs to 4 teams -- Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers, Kochi Tuskers Kerala & Pune Warriors.
On that note let us take a look at the top 5 lowest team totals in IPL history.
#5 70 by Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rajasthan Royals in 2014 The 1st leg match between RCB & RR in the 2014 edition of the IPL saw RR winning the toss and electing to field first. RCB had already won 2 out of its 3 previous matches before coming into this match whereas Rajasthan had only 1 out of its previous 3 matches and had lost 2 matches back-to-back.
RCB started the match in the worst possible way by losing 2 wickets in the very first over with just one run on board. Their situation further deteriorated when they were reduced to 11/4 at the end of the third over. By the 6th over, half the team was back in the pavilion with the score being 22/5. Only three players from RCB managed to cross the double-figure mark -- innings top scorer Virat Kohli (21), Mitchell Starc (18) & Ravi Rampaul (13). RCB were all out for 70. They could only manage to last 15 overs.
Pravin Tambe of RR ripped through the RCB batting line-up with 4 wickets. His scalps included Virat Kohli, Albie Morkel, Ravi Rampaul & Ashok Dinda.
Rajasthan reached the required total in 13 overs. They had lost 4 wickets en route to their 71 runs. Pravin Tambe for his spell of 4/21 was named the Player of the Match. The second leg match between KKR & MI saw both the teams coming into the game high on confidence. KKR had won three consecutive matches in its previous games. Mumbai, on the other hand, were one better than KKR as they had won four consecutive matches, including defeating KKR at Eden Gardens. This match saw Mumbai win the toss and electing to field first.
Apart from Sourav Ganguly, Salman Butt & Ajit Agarkar, no other player from Kolkata could cross the individual score of 5. Kolkata's dismal batting performance saw them last for just 15.2 overs and score only 67.
Shaun Pollock of Mumbai was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. Other Mumbai bowlers -- Dwayne Bravo, Rohan Raje & Dominic Thornley had also picked up 2 wickets each.
Mumbai reached the target of 68 runs in just 5.3 overs. 48 of those runs were scored by Sanath Jayasuriya with the help of 3 sixes & 6 fours. Shaun Pollock for his 3/12 picked up the Player of the Match Award.
KKR's 67 all out remained the lowest team total of the 2008 IPL.Delhi had a horrible start to their 2017 IPL campaign, winning just 2 out of their first 7 matches. KXIP, on the other hand, were slightly better off with 3 victories from their first 8 games. Both the teams desperately needed points on the board to move up in the table. Delhi had managed to defeat KXIP by 51 runs in their first leg encounter.
In the 2nd leg, KXIP won the toss and elected to field first. It would be fair to say that the toss was not the only thing that didn't go Delhi's way that day. Delhi during their batting lasted 17.1 overs and could score only 67 runs. 18 by Corey Anderson was the highest individual score of the innings. Sandeep Sharma of KXIP caused the most damage by picking up 4 wickets.
In reply, KXIP reached the required target in 7.5 overs with Martin Guptill scoring a half-century. Sandeep Sharma for his 4/20 was the Player of the Match.Delhi's bad run in the 2017 IPL continued as they lost both their matches after the one with KXIP where they lost by 10 wickets and recorded one of the lowest team totals ever in the history of IPL.
Mumbai, on the other hand, were having a great tournament, winning 7 out of their first 10 matches. They had already defeated Delhi once in the tournament. Both on paper and current form indicated that Mumbai were poised to win their 2nd leg encounter against Delhi also and they did so.Winning the toss, Delhi elected to field first. Mumbai began their innings with a 79-run first-wicket partnership between Parthiv Patel and Lendl Simmons. This was followed by two 37-run partnerships between Simmons & Kieron Pollard first and then by Rohit Sharma and Pollard.
Finally, a 59-run partnership between Pollard and Hardik Pandya saw Mumbai end their innings at 212/3. Both Lendl Simmons (66) & Kieron Pollard (63) had scored half-centuries. The Mumbai innings saw a total of 11 sixes and 15 fours being hit.
Delhi, in reply, by the 6th over had seen half their team being dismissed with just 35 runs on the board. The remaining players further added another 31 runs on the board before Delhi wrapped up its innings for 66 runs. This would be Delhi's lowest ever team total in IPL. It was also the 2nd lowest team total in the 2017 edition of IPL. Lendl Simmons for his 63 was named the Player of the Match. As mentioned in the beginning, the 2009 IPL saw just one instance of a team scoring below 100 runs in an innings and that unwanted distinction went to Rajasthan Royals. The 2nd match of the 2009 IPL saw the inaugural champions take on RCB.
RCB had won the toss and had elected to bat first. Dimitri Mascarenhas gave Rajasthan a dream start when he took two wickets in the first three balls of the very first over. He took the wickets of Jesse Ryder & Ross Taylor off two consecutive balls. RCB lost their third wicket of Robin Uthappa (wicket taken by Mascarenhas) with just 17 runs on the board. Apart from Rahul Dravid (66) & Kevin Pietersen (32), none of the other RCB players managed to reach double figures. RCB ended their innings at 133/8 for their allotted 20 overs.
Rajasthan, in reply, were bundled out for 58 runs. RCB players had just managed to hit one four in their innings. The main destroyer was a gentleman named Anil Kumble who took 5 wickets and gave away a miserly 5 runs. Kumble for his brilliant spell was named the Player of the Match. The only instance of a team scoring below 50 runs in an innings happened in IPL 2017 and was by RCB against KKR.
Electing to field first after winning the toss, RCB did well to restrict KKR to a total of 131. Sunil Narine top scored for KKR with 34 runs. In reply, RCB were all out for 49 runs in just 9.4 overs. None of the RCB players made it to double figures with Kedar Jadhav top scoring with 9 runs. For KKR, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Chris Woakes & Colin de Grandhomme took 3 wickets apiece. Coulter-Nile, who picked up the important wickets of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers & Kedar Jadhav, was awarded the Player of the Match trophy.
With this performance, RCB now hold the record for scoring both the highest team total (263/5 vs Pune Warriors in 2013) as well as the lowest team total in the history of the tournament.

IPL Tips – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kings XI Punjab
With the defeat in the previous match against Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad has put themselves in a difficult situation. They need to win each and every match which is remaining. If they manage to lose this match against Punjab, then they would in deep trouble. Read on the today's IPL match betting tips here.
Match Overview
As the season is progressing, we are heading towards a close fight in the middle order of the points table. Chennai and Delhi have qualified for the playoffs. Now only two spots are left and there are five teams which are separated by just two points. Sunrisers Hyderabad now faces Kings XI Punjab in the upcoming match on 29 April.
IPL Tips Performance Check
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad started in style this season but they have slowed down a bit soon. They were the finalists in the previous season and are now looking weak with the tough fight for playoffs. With the return of Kane Williamson, Sunrisers bounced back in the tournament but with a couple of losses, they are in a difficult position.
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have been riding the innings for the team so far but with the loss of Bairstow, Sunrisers are not able to revive. Kane Williamson has not provided that spark in the team.
Manish Pandey has been moved up the order to open with Warner. He has proved to be impactful with two great innings in the last two matches. However, the team has failed to score in the death overs.
Bowling has not been sharp. They have been too much dependent on Rashid Khan to take the wickets but it has not been the case. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has been expensive with very few wickets. In every department, the team needs to step up if they need to create some chances of qualification.
Kings XI Punjab
The story on this side is also very similar to their opponents. They are coming with two losses in the previous two matches. Punjab needs to win at least two of their remaining matches to make it to playoffs.
They are highly dependent on Gayle and Kl Rahul for the opening partnership and a scoring handful of runs. Their middle over has struggled and no one has scored consistently. Their two important players have been suffering from injuries, Sam Curran has not been consistent. Ankit Rajpoot has gone for plenty of runs. Arshdeep was impressive in the only outing that he got.
Their bowling has been impactful with Shami and Ravi Ashwin doing pretty well. Punjab is a good side but they may lack an all-rounder who can bowl crucial overs and slog the bowl.
Head to Head Tipster
Kings XI Punjab won the previous match against Sunrisers in this season. It was their fourth win while Sunrisers have won 9 matches out of the total of 13 matches.
Team
IPL Tips Playing XI Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner, Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson (c), Manish Pandey, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
IPL Tips Playing XI Kings XI Punjab: KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, David Miller, Nicolas Pooran, Mandeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harpreet Brar, Hardus Viljoen, Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami
Pitch & Weather Condition Tips
Weather will not interrupt the game at any moment. Pitch here at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is good for batting and we might expect a high scoring match.
Toss Prediction Tips
Teams are tempted to bat first when winning the toss at Hyderabad.
IPL Tips and Prediction
Both the teams are going through similar conditions. They are inconsistent. Both teams look head to head on paper. Sunrisers Hyderabad would have the home advantage and it won’t be easy to win against them. We back Sunrisers Hyderabad to win this match.

Super Kings Enter IPL Final As Delhi Capitals Fail In Last Over Gamble
IPL 2021 (Qualifier 1) - Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings - (Dubai)
Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant made one of the biggest mistakes in his leadership of the team, as he gambled with the inexperience of Tom Curran to bowl the last over which proved a disaster, as the Chennai Super Kings made their entry into the final of the IPL in Dubai yesterday.
Preferred ahead of the experienced Kagiso Rabada, Curran conceded the 13 runs that the Super Kings needed to win in the last over with two balls left as MS Dhoni smashed three fours.
Before the over Curran had three wickets, but they were due to either brilliant fielding or batting errors.
Dhoni remained unbeaten on 18 from just nine balls after top scorer Ruturaj Gaikwad was caught in the outfield for 70 in the 19th over bowled by Avesh Khan when the Super Kings needed 24 runs off the last two overs.
But Dhoni clouted Avesh Khan for a six over mid-wicket to ensure the Super Kings had to score 13 runs in the final over.
Ruturaj and Robin Uthappa (63) set the course for the Super Kings with a stand of 110 runs for the second wicket in 13.5 overs after Faf du Plessis was clean bowled middle stump by Anrich Nortje for just 1 in the fourth ball of the innings.
Put into bat after losing the toss the Delhi Capitals, thanks to a top score of 60 by opener Prithvi Shaw had a foundation to build on after Shikhar Dhawan fell cheaply for 7 caught behind by a peach of a moving ball from Josh Hazelwood who also claimed the scalp of number three batter Shreyas Iyer who struggled to make one run off eight deliveries.
Shaw stood firm and slammed seven fours and three sixes as he made 60 in just 34 balls before he stepped out to hit left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja for Faf du Plessis to take a catch at long off running to his left.
Axar Patel promoted in the batting to replace Iyer could not go beyond a score of 10 and it was left to the middle order pair of Shimron Hetmyer (37) and Rishabh Pant (51 not out) to take the total from 80 for 4 in the 11th over with a partnership that realised 83 runs in 8.2 overs that helped the Delhi Capitals reach 172 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Pant was the more aggressive of the two, as he made his half century in 35 balls with two sixes to go with three fours.
According to the tournament draw, the Delhi Capitals have a second fling in a quest to enter the final, when they meet the winners of the second play-off match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Scores: Delhi Capitals 172 for 5 in 20 (Prithvi Shaw 60, Shimron Hetmyer 37, Rishabh Pant 51 not out, Josh Hazelwood 3 for 29) Chennai Super Kings 173 for 6 in 19.4 overs (Ruturaj Gaikwad 70, Robin Uthappa 63, Tom Curran 3 for 29)

Chennai Super Kings: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), N Jagadeesan, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma Royal Challengers Bangalore: Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli(c), AB de Villiers(w), Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Shivam Dube, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal Captains at the toss Virat Kohli: “We’ll bat first. We backed our decision last game as well, but we got ourselves into a tough position not having enough partnerships. The wicket is going to get slower and slower. There wasn’t much dew in the last game as well. It’s fair enough to defend today. We won two times batting first and one convincing win while chasing. When you are playing against quality sides, you need to come out and play good cricket. We (him and Dhoni) have played together for so long, we have great partnership together. The games (RCB vs CSK) are always competitive. We have all had mutual respect between us. It’s important to get into some kind of momentum, where the bowlers come in and bowl a certain way. We have a great chance to create it now. It’s an exciting phase we are entering into. Chris Morris makes his RCB debut. He replaces Moeen Ali and Gurkeerat Singh Mann comes back in for Siraj.” MS Dhoni: “It’s the case with all the teams. You can’t meet anyone from the outside, there is less distractions also. That’s a good thing. It can be harsh, but it’s amazing you can remain with the team. We need to get points. It’s an important game for us. We have committed a few errors, need to focus on process. I have been doing well in the nets, need to replicate it out in the middle.”

Hello and welcome to TimesofIndia.com’s live coverage of Match 25 of IPL 2020 between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai. Preview Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in an intriguing mid-table Indian Premier League clash here on Saturday with both teams battling inconsistency. CSK all-rounder Kedar Jadhav’s selection will be under the scanner after his failure in the defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders. The Super Kings sank to a 10-run loss on Wednesday, choking inexplicably with Jadhav’s approach to batting attracting criticism from all quarters. It remains to be seen if the Super Kings opt to jettison the 35-year-old given the team’s propensity to give players a long rope. Despite Shane Watson finding his range in a 10-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab and Faf du Plessis’s consistency at the top, the middle-order continues to remain a concern for CSK with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni himself not being at his best. If they do decide to bench Jadhav after his prolonged struggle, they have the option of recalling Ruturaj Gaikwad or picking N Jagadeesan, who has been warming the bench since the 2018 season. While worries remain on the batting front, the CSK bowling has got better and they did well to restrict KKR in the previous game with influential all-rounder Dwayne Bravo returning to his wicket-taking ways. Karn Sharma, who came in for Piyush Chawla did well to pick up a couple of wickets while not going for too many runs and the skipper will expect him to do the same against a formidable RCB batting unit. Yet, Dhoni would prefer the pacers — Deepak Chahar, Sam Curran and Shardul Thakur — to provide early breakthroughs and stem the run flow. However, the CSK bowling will be up against a strong RCB batting line-up led by captain Virat Kohli, who returned to form with a fine knock against Rajasthan Royals. Though the Kohli-led team faltered in the subsequent match against Delhi Capitals, they will look for an improved performance against CSK. Kohli aside, young Devdutt Padikkal has looked in good touch, while AB de Villiers has been a key player for RCB over the years. If the big-hitting Aaron Finch can provide a rapid start at the top, it would serve RCB better. It is the bowling which would worry Kohli. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has, as always, been the leading bowler while Washington Sundar has been frugal upfront. However, the pacers have not lived up to their reputation, with the likes of Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini leaking runs. Experienced Sri Lankan Isuru Udana’s inclusion has given a semblance of control towards the end of the innings. How CSK’s batting does against an up-and-down RCB bowling attack and how its batters fare against the Super Kings bowlers could decide the fate of the game. Teams (from): Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni (captain, WK), M Vijay, Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Lungi Ngidi, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Imran Tahir, Mitchell Santner, Josh Hazlewood, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran, N Jagadeesan, KM Asif, Monu Kumar, R Sai Kishore, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Karn Sharma. Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli (captain), AB de Villiers, Parthiv Patel, Aaron Finch, Josh Philippe, Chris Morris, Moeen Ali, Mohammed Siraj, Shahbaz Ahmed, Devdutt Padikkal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini, Dale Steyn, Pawan Negi, Isuru Udana, Shivam Dube, Umesh Yadav, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Washington Sundar, Pavan Deshpande, Adam Zampa.

IPL Match 46: Delhi Capitals Hand Mumbai Indians Seventh Defeat
IPL 2021 (46th Match) - Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals - Sharjah
Defending champions Mumbai Indians suffered the humiliation of their seventh defeat in the IPL going down to the Delhi Capitals who had to chase a target of just 130 in Sharjah yesterday.
Further embarrassment came the way of the Mumbai Indians when a bowler in the Delhi Capitals camp, Ravichandran Ashwin, slammed a six in the first ball of the final over bowled by Krunal Pandya to post the winning runs while Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings intelligently for an unbeaten 33.
The Mumbai Indians were adversely and completely off colour as they have been for most of the eight-team championship and nothing could have explained it better when they struggled to a total of 129 for eight as none of their batters were able to get on top of the bowlers after they were put into bat having lost the toss.
Wicket after wicket went down beginning with the dismissal of Rohit Sharma who made just seven runs, but the biggest blow of them all was when power hitter Kieron Pollard who could have turned the match in favour of his team was bowled by Anrich Nortje for just six runs after he attempted to jab a ball moving away that took the edge of his bat and crashed onto his stumps.
Co-opener Quintin de Kock who was in some kind of form at the recommencement of the IPL could not go beyond a score of 19 and the Mumbai Indians had slumped to 109 for 5 in 18 overs at one stage.
Then came some exceptional drama when one of the most promising young medium pace bowlers in the IPL, Avesh Khan, got a peach of a delivery, yorker length, to crash through the legs of Hardik Pandya and shatter his stumps with his score on 17 that prevented the Mumbai Indians from taking the maximum in the final two overs of the innings.
In the same over Khan clean bowled Nathan Coulter-Nile for 1 to finish with figures of 3 for 15 off his four overs.
The defeat meant Mumbai Indians were pushed down further in the ranks with only an outside chance of qualifying for the four-team play-off while the Delhi Capitals booked their slot along with the Chennai Super Kings.
Scores: Mumbai Indians 129 for 8 in 20 (Suriyakumar Yadav 33, Avesh Khan 3 for 15, Axar Patel 3 for 21) Delhi Capitals 132 for 6 in 19.1 (Rishabh Pant 26, Shreyas Iyer 33 not out, Ravichandran Ashwin 20 not out)

IPL 2018 Live Score CSK vs KXIP: Kings XI Punjab take on Chennai Super Kings in Pune in the final match of the IPL 2018 group stage. KXIP have had a topsy-turvy season with KL Rahul being the only truly consistent performer for them. They have no option but to beat Chennai by a big margin so as to ensure that they stay afloat due to their net run rate. They would be under further pressure to put in a good performance if Mumbai Indians manage a win against Delhi Daredevils. KXIP would then need a significant improvement on their net run rate so as to go land the final knockout spot. Catch live scores, updates and commentary from Chennai Super Kings against Kings XI Punjab in Pune in Match 56 of the Indian Premier League. (IPL 2018 Home | Points Table | CSKvs KXIP Full Scorecard) IPL 2018 Live, CSK vs KXIP: Kings XI Punjab started the season as one of the favourites to go through to the next stage. Now, as they play the final match of this season's group stage, they need a miracle of sorts to go through. They are level on points on Mumbai Indians but their net run rate is so pathetic - the lowest among all teams currently - that they need MI to lose to Delhi Daredevils today and beat Chennai Super Kings themselves while ensuring that their net run rates jumps above that of Rajasthan Royals to finally land the fourth spot.

Hello and welcome to TimesofIndia.com’s live coverage of Match 21 of IPL 2020 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi. Preview Under-fire Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik will have to figure out urgent fixes for his star-studded team’s faltering performances when it takes on a resurgent Chennai Super Kings in the IPL here on Wednesday. KKR acquired England’s World Cup-winning skipper Eoin Morgan but the management reposed confidence in Karthik and asked him to lead the side. However, a few of his baffling decisions apart from his own poor run with the bat — 37 runs from four matches — has put the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman in the line of fire. Promoting himself ahead of the star duo of Morgan and Andre Russell and preferring Sunil Narine in the opening slot over Big Bash sensation Tom Banton — who has been compared with Kevin Pietersen — has put 35-year-old Karthik in the dock. Narine has looked woefully out of sorts, managing only 27 runs from four matches at 87.09 strike rate and it’s high time that the team brings in the big-hitting English youngster. KKR have plenty of resources in bowling but Karthik, it seems, has not been able to manage them well and their match against Delhi Capitals could be a case in point. Pat Cummins’ not-so-impressive performance has added to the team’s woes. The pitch in Sharjah is a batsmen’s paradise and both teams cantered past the 200-mark but it’s the bowlers who made the difference in a close chase. The pair of Morgan and Rahul Tripathi looked to seal it but Delhi’s bowlers strangulated KKR’s batting at the death. Karthik will need to back his bowlers, especially Indian lead spinner Kuldeep Yadav who seems to have been under-utilised and bowled just nine overs after being dropped from the Delhi game. Chennai, on the other hand, rediscovered some of the form that made them three-time champions. After three losses on the trot, the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side would look to make its ascent to top-four from being at the bottom. Not known to tweak his side much, Dhoni persisted with Shane Watson and the Aussie veteran finally came to form with an unbeaten 83. Chasing 179 against Kings XI Punjab, Watson and Faf du Plessis made light work of their bowlers in a record 181-run unbeaten stand to seal the chase. The coming to form of a mis-firing top order is what CSK needed to come out of a miserable start and having done that, they would certainly look favourites against a struggling KKR. Teams (from) Kolkata Knight Riders: Dinesh Karthik (C), Andre Russell, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Nitish Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Rinku Singh, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi, Shubman Gill, Siddhesh Lad, Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, Varun Chakravarthy, Tom Banton, Rahul Tripathi, Chris Green, M Siddharth, Nikhil Naik, Ali Khan. Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni (C), M Vijay, Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Lungi Ngidi, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Imran Tahir, Mitchell Santner, Josh Hazlewood, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran, N Jagadeesan, KM Asif, Monu Kumar, R Sai Kishore, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Karn Sharma.
