What would the Fire Emblem character's favorite Pokémon types be in your opinion? You can do any character you want to :)

Dimitri: I gotta go with the ghost type affinity now ngl. He thinks they’re so adorable and sweet and misunderstood! They tend to follow him home and he just can’t say no to keeping them. I’m really attached to the idea of him with a Galarian Corsola.

Dedue: Grass types! He has a little house with a big garden and they all like to sit outside and sun themselves and follow Dedue around as he waters the plants! Dedue has a little budew that he keeps inside because she’s smol and weak and she likes to sit on the counter tops with him while he cooks dinner!

Felix: No specific type but if it’s shaped like a cat he’ll have one. He keeps most of them at home and they take up the entire bed when he tries to sleep. Oh, and of course he has a shoulder Skitty that rides around with him.

Sylvain: I don’t actually know what type would fit best for him. Fire, maybe? I could see him with a cute little Fennekin. Actually y’know I could see him with pretty much all fox-like Pokemon, that’d be cute. Vulpix (both the Alolan and Kanto varieties), Fennekin, Zorua, Nickit, and maybe a Flareon. Idk are Eevees foxes?

Ingrid: Flying types totally. I just get that vibe from her, she’d come swooping down to kick your ass. A Skarmory or a Corviknight would be badass.

Annette: Psychic partly because there’s a lot of smoll cute ones that will fuck you up, partly because psychic types will fuck you up. She and Felix also both have Meowstics. Annette has the male version and Felix has the female version.

Mercedes: She gives me water type vibes. I could just see her with a bunch of Feebas and Milotic? Oh and a Primarina because it reminds her a bit of Annette.

Ferdinand: No specific type but if it’s shaped like a horse he’ll have one (because Ferdie is a total horse girl). In a pokemon world he would breed Ponyta!

Hubert: Dark type because c’mon look at him. I can totally see him having a Murkrow that just chills on his shoulder.

So, if the Fire Emblem characters could bend the elements like the ATLA characters... Who could bend which element?

Alright I’m just going to do the BL for now because I highkey have a fic I’m writing for this and so they’re the only ones I’ve really thought through.

Dimitri is a water bender because I really like the contrast between the element’s softer and... let’s say “darker” qualities in the show.

Dedue I’m torn between making him an earth bender and a non bender. On one hand I love the steady, grounded vibe for him, but something about him also just screams non bender.

Felix is also a water bender, but with the caveat that I have a very specific headcanon for how he water bends. IDK if any of y’all are familiar with ATLA fanfic but one of my absolute favorite tropes was the whole “Katara is taught water bending by Uncle Iroh and so her bending is more of a hybrid between water and fire” thing. Mostly because I love water as an element for Felix, but I think the style of fire bending fits much better for his character.

Sylvain is a fire bender because I got Ideas about how Felix ended up with his weird hybrid bending, and that’s all I’m gonna say about that.

Ingrid is a non bender. I really like her for more of a Kyoshi Warrior type.

Mercedes is another water bender, this time for the simple “it allows her to heal” explanation.

Annette... depends. I kind of feel earth for her, but I think she might make a decent air bender as well. That is, assuming this isn’t completely 1:1 with the show and air benders actually still exist.

And okay I know I said I was just going to do the Lions but Dorothea was another pretty easy one. I could definitely see her as a fire bender, or she’s at least from the Fire Nation. Mainly because I kinda like the idea of her being part of some travelling performers troupe and being able to kick ass with fire bending.
